Hey Girls

Hi Mellie yep spoke to my general doc about the almost fainting she only asked if bub was still moving and took my blood pressure which one of the numbers were low so she put it down to a virus which i think is her excuse when can't find a reason shes used that one on me a few times and i've only seen her a few times i think i may need to find a new gp

Corny i'm beginning to suspect my iron levels are low as i'm still feeling occasionally dizzie just not as bad as the other night or it is from eating poorly as Rio had suggested or not enough often enough so i'm working on eating better and will ask to get my iron levels checked at my next appointment
Rio I'll be using a bassinet for katie only because i was given one for ds and it's handy to move around the house to keep an eye on her besides the nursery was down the other end of the house with ds so it saved the long walk through the house in the dark and the new house won't be much better you will get a good 3 or 4 months out of it i guess it depends on finances and what you think is best it's all good either way.

Sorry can't remember those of you who haven't done the nursery yet but let me tell you i'm with you we are moving soon so i haven't been able to do a thing i have all the furniture from ds but i like to paint the walls and create a girlie space for her i guess it'll happen all in good time.

Best go hope your all well and bed rest ladies hope your able to fill your days with something of interest

Everyone has been so quiet lately, I hope that means everyone is doing well and busy getting ready for the beans!
Jomae- when do you think you will be done moving? How exciting to be in a new house! I wouldn't be very happy with my gen pract saying everything is a virus either. Are you still feeling dizzy?
Suga- your DH doesn't mind you being in another room with the girls? How are you feeling? I was talking to my hairdresser who had twin girls born at 31 1/2 weeks and they had to spend a short time in the hospital but are healthy as can be. How are the girls doing? Staying cozy in there?
Corny- no more shots is right! I really need to try and not get insulin! How did your DH do in the Olympics? Sounds like fun! Don't lift anything heavy or go crazy doing the nursery! Where did you register?
Gecko how is DH doing? How are you with your new hobbies?
Weezie are you and DH alone now? DH and I have a nice 10 day break from SD, she is just driving DH and I insane, our moods are just so much better when she is not around.

Hope eveyone is well!

hi mommas

rio- rockin' list! and i'm sorry about the GD-

quick update....
am still out of the house! :x but floors will be great and the bean will not get splinters or fall through :) so that's good- but it just seems to go on and on- been very busy driving me and homeless dog around, and failed my 1hour glucose test- now onto 3hour - oh, and I failed it by 1 point!!!!!!   how lame is that!!!!!
am staying at my folks place, but it's stressful- can't wait to be home, nesting and gestating! and riding out the last couple of months

got great news i can only share with you as it's a secret to all of our local friends- my dear friends (a lesbian couple) did a last ditch secret IVF- they've done IUI's for well over a year with no +++- and whoopie!!!!!! their beta was 275!!!! they might have twins!!!! I am over the moon for them- honestly almost as happy for them as I am for myself - so glad i could share b/c i'll have to bite my tongue for 2 months on this one- but it's worth it!

hope you all are well- twinnies are staying put and getting big, and all the singletons and mommies are enjoying being round and beautiful and happy

many good thoughts going out to you all

Hi Everyone!

Thanks for posting the list, Rio.

We had a great weekend. Our baby shower was Saturday and it was a lot of fun. It was so nice to have all our friends in one place and also nice that my parents got the chance to meet some of the friends I talk about all the time. We made it a BBQ and I think everyone had fun.

They gave us some very sweet and generous gifts, too. Now I have to get those thank-you cards going!

I think we found our furniture (finally!). I discovered a "crib and bed outlet" in a suburb of Chicago and we found a crib and dresser-hutch set that we both like. And, the price was incredibly good. Of course, I always have to think big purchases over so I couldn't buy right then and when we called today to order them we found out the store is only open Thur-Sun. Hopefully, they pieces are still there and we can order them on Thur.

Next of the list is childcare. We have to find someone!

Then, it's a pediatrician.

Then, I'll start looking for curtains....

...and so on and so on :D Seems like a never-ending list but it's somehow so much fun!

Mellie - I am glad you had fun at your shower. I had a small one in June, but the big one with my family and friends is the first week in August and I am really looking forward to it. Congrats on finding furniture you like. It is soooo much fun to put the nursery together! I started the childcare search as well. I am on two waiting lists for February and keeping my fingers crossed that one will come through.

loopie - I'm sorry you are still out of your house. That sucks. But I am sure it wil be beautiful when you return. I am so happy for your friends!!!! Let us know if it ends up twins.

Rio - Awesome list! Thanks for putting it all together. How is the GD diet and monitoring going? How is your puppy? Mine is finally starting to get the potty training thing down but still isn't 100%. We have him confined to one room or his crate during the day and our bed at night and are hoping he gets better as he ages..... As for bassinets, yes we are planning to get one. I know he will only use it for a little while but we are planning a second child soon (we will start trying next June) so I figure baby #2 can use it until #1 is old enough to be in a regular bed and vacate the crib.

corny - My husband has never done the firefighter olympics mostly because it is in the middle of the summer and that is his real busy time. He finally got to come home last Friday for a few days which was wonderful. We hung out together, did errands, got closer to finishing the nursery and saw some family. He was called back because of another big fire in his unit so I don't know if he will get home in the next few weeks or not. He does have two weeks of vacation starting on August 3rd though so we can spend my last two weeks of summer break together before I have to go back to teaching.

sugabeanz - Glad you are hanging in there. Keep on the bed rest and try not to go crazy!

Jomae - Hope you get the dizzy spells under control. When will you be tested for anemia? Try lots of protein in the meantime.

I had my regular ob appt today and all is well. I am measuring 29 weeks which I will be tomorrow and the heartbeat is good. I have gained 25 pounds (7 since last month!) so far and the doctor isn't really too concerned. She said that women in the US have such bad body concepts that they don't worry too much unless the mom is GD. What a refreshing idea! She is having me do a NST at my next appointment in 4 weeks and a detailed growth scan at 35 weeks. She said because I have a history of hypertension they like to check that there is not growth problems with the baby. If my belly is any indication, he is growing just fine!!!!! I guess this is all routine. I sure hope so. the good news is that when I go next I get to see my regular doctor who has been out on maternity leave.

DH was home for the last four days. Hooray! We worked on the nursery and it is almost done. When the window blinds are installed I will take some pictures and post on photobucket. We are still waiting for some key items like the changing table and mattress for the crib but are hoping they will show up at one of our showers. Anyway, I can't wait to share.

Hope you are all doing well and enjoying the summer. We're in the home stretch!!!!

Hey girls
Good to read your posts and to see there are no major complaints to mention Rio as mentioned great list i've been hoping you'd post one so thanks for that i have a move in date from the builder and we should be in by the 12th of August were taking all the little stuff over we don't need over to store in the shed for the mean time and hopefully we'll only have the big furniture we can't move ourselves to go on the last day it's all a bit exciting i'm so glad we'll get a chance to settle in before Katie arrives. How's the break from sd going enjoying your peace and quiet.

Hey Loopie congrats to your friends hope everything goes smoothly for them. sorry about your gd test i'm sure you'll be fine though seeing it was only one point over. i know what you mean about being unsettled i can't wait to take over our house and get organized.

Hi Mellie sounds like you have had a good time at your baby shower even with out the gifts it's good to have family and freinds over to show their excitement about the baby. glad you've made some progress with your furniture thankfully i don't have to worry about it this time.

hello gecko glad you got to spend time with hubby it must be nice to catch up sounds like bub is growing on track only one day out and lucky you get to see your little man again. whats a NST i haven't heard of it before. our hospital doesn't routinely check for anemia this late i don't think but my glucose test will be done on the 4th of August so i'll ask to get it checked then

As for me only slightly dizzy but i am excessively tired and have had a niggling headahce for the past four or five days i had an hours nanna nap today and woke up as if i hadn't slept for a month and my eyes are so tired i know your eye muscles relax around this stage of pregnancy i just hadn't noticed it with ds maybe thats the cause of the headaches form straining i don't know. i've been looking for one days childcare for ds i thought i'd get him settle in so i can have a day where i can do the shopping and errands a bit easier once Katie is here thankfully there is no waiting lists here its awful you ladies have to think about it before bub is even here. I think Katie knows i am writing about her she's going wild moving everywhere.

Anyone noticing stretch marks yet i only got a few in the last two weeks with ds so hopefully i can ovoid them this time also Best go time to organize dinner
Corny and Suga how are you both and those babies going ?
Take care All JOMAEXXX

Loopie - I woudn't call one point failing the test so your 3 hour one should be fine! Good Luck! Congrats to your friends!!! How is the pup doing with the moving around?
Mellie We are also looking into daycare and being on waiting lists. Good job on the furniture! We also have a pediatrician appt scheduled, so much to do! Glad you had such a fun baby shower! I can't wait for mine!
Gecko - woohoo for puppy house training - good job! Ours is almost there! Good job on your appt and bean's growth. How great that you got to see DH but sad that he had to leave again
JOmae unfortunately I noticed some pinkish lines under my breasts  so I am hoping they go away and don't stay, but that's it for stretch marks. Haven't got that line from the belly button yet either, and my belly button is still an inny.

Everything is going well, tired of being on a diet but I know it is to keep bean healthy. Been having a tough time sleeping (must be those chocolate dreams ;) I am just very excited and I can't wait to meet the bean, still so much to do. DH and I are still in our honeymoon without SD and it is wonderful on how relaxed we are and comfortable alone.

Hope everyone is well!

Hello to all you wonderful mommies! Looks like everyone is doing fairly well. Aside from the GD and bedrest and moving/remodeling! I guess it's just what we can expect when we get preggers :)
I knew I wouldn't be around much during the summer because we had the skids and as suspected it was a nightmare! :x We had the police at our house, SS7 had a resistant case of head lice (we treated him every 7 days and I never washed with so much clorox and cleaned a different room with alcohol/water every day....but my persistance paid off. Neither DH or myself got it) SS got suspened 3x from summer camp for language and fighting, SD and SS beat each other up (bloody) every day, and DH had to hold me off from attacking SD one day (I had enough of her disrespect and her saying she didn't care if the baby dies). Ahhh....but now they are gone. DH misses them and I suppose that's normal for a parent to miss their children regardless of how bad they are. But, I am ready for some peace and to enjoy my pregnancy. Oh but wait....this is the 3rd trimester, right? And me and my HUGE belly are already slowing down. Damn.
I will be having a baby shower Aug 9th. And currently we are living at my parents home while DH remodels our bathroom and does some minor remodeling on the house. But it's heaven! I love being in my old bedroom. I just get worried because DH is moving at a snails pace. He is trying however. He is just getting tired of working 5a-6p and then coming home to do more of the same.
I have decided not to decorate the baby's room until I have a solid confirmation from DH that the skids will not be here for Christmas. Or maybe not even until after Christmas. We only have a 2 bedroom house and we agreed to never let the baby and skids sleep in the same room. And although we will have the baby in a co-sleeper at that time, I wouldn't trust them not to destroy the crib and anything that belongs to the baby if they were to stay there during the holidays.
I have my regular OB check next tuesday. I took my glucose and iron test two weeks ago. I guess all is well because I didn't hear a thing. The only concern I had was not feeling Gavin as much as normal. And of course when I think to call the OB he kicks up a storm. However, I will discuss a bio-physical ultrasound with him next week. My OB mentioned it, but we never came to any conclusions about it. We'll see.
Well, I'm BIG, I'm back, and I promise to keep in touch and post more. I will also put a picture up soon.

Hello ladies! I would write personals but I am sitting straight up which I am not supposed to do for long and there is a lot to catch up on with you all! You all sound wonderful which is great!! Everyone is coming along....

So, why everyone with twins is having girls? Just odd to me? lol

I got back from the hospital AGAIN! I had dilated a little more (about 1 1/2- 2 cm) and the baby is 0 to -1 down in the canal so she is low low low. Got put back on the magnesium (UGH!). But all is well and I am home back on the bed rest. So I suppose this just might be a monthly occurrence till they are born lol. Just trying to keep them in there!

I *think* my baby shower is next Sat. The girl who is throwing it for me wants out because she is "stressed" and I am about to just say to scrap the whole thing because she is being very selfish in my eyes but I will not get too into it. Just annoying that people say they will do something then go back on it.

Other than that, nothing to report! Stay healthy to all you out there!

Rio- here's a piece about biophysical u/s.

A biophysical profile (BPP) test is done to:
Learn about and keep track of your baby's health. Special ultrasound methods are used to keep track of movement, increases in heart rate with movement (nonstress test), muscle tone, breathing rate, and the amount of amniotic fluid surrounding your baby. If these five areas are within a normal range, your baby is considered to be in good health.

I may just go ahead and ask him to schedule it with the peri next week. We'll see.

I hope all of you have a great weekend. Suga, stay off your feet and don't fret about the shower and your friends behavior. Just tend to your little ones.

Gecko - Good luck with the child care! I hope one of your wait lists comes through. Sounds like the nursery is coming along. So you're going to try for #2 in June? We'll probably be trying in April. Hard to imagine doing all this again isn't it?

Jomae - Hope your head feels better. Nice that you don't have wait lists down there. Where in Austalia are you from? I've never been there but we did go to New Zealand for our honeymoon back in '98. Trip of a lifetime. Such nice people and beautiful land. Met some nice Australians there, too. Seemed like a lot of Australians vacationed in New Zealand at that time.

Rio
- I've been having a tough time sleeping, too. In fact, it's 6am on Sat morning here and I've been up since 5. Not sure why. Doesn't seem to be due to any discomfort it just must be those pregnancy hormones.

Weezie - Hope your remodeling goes well! Glad you're enjoying being back at home.

Katie - Why are you having a 4d ultrasound? Is that standard at your doc's practice?

Suga - Hang in there! Can't believe your friend is trying to back out. Sounds like you have the right attitude, though. Nothing for you to worry about. You can even have a shower after the girls come if you want.

Things are going fine here. It was great seeing my parents at my shower last weekend but I'm very worried for them. They are both very overweight and my mother was diagnosed about a year and a half ago with borderline diabetes. My dad has acid reflux so bad that it's developed into barrettt's disease and it keeps him up half the night so he naps a lot during the day. Despite these health risks they both continue to eat whatever they feel like (ice cream, cake, chips, etc...). I'm so worried about them but talking to them hasn't helped. Anyone have any advice? I feel like staging an intervention or something. I tried bringing it up when they were here but they each just talk about how the other one is worse than they are. It's a very "enabling" kind of relationship where food's concerned. After they left my husband and best friend both approached me separately and expressed concern for my parents, too.

Any suggestions or advice dealing with this is appreciated.

Hope everyone has a happy healthy weekend!
