Hello Preggos,

I missed out a lot. I keep reading the posts almost every day to be up to ddate with everybody's progress and it is so good to see that wea re all doing fine.
I am still in a coma, and unfortunately, my tiredness does not seem to go away. I am 15 weeks and still insanely sleepy. I dont have a life, all I do is work, go to school, and sleep. My friends want to hang out and I can barely find energy for that. Are you girls OK, or are you also so tired?

Dakota, your story about trying the animal doppler on an animal table cracked me up :)
My hubby forbid my ordering a doppler. He knows me too well and knows that if I would not be able to find hb (whcih is not uncommon), I would completely freak out and not be able to sleep.

Oh, I had some bleeding in my 13th week. It was not red, so I decided to stay calm, but then it would not go away after 3 days, I went to my OB and had u/s. They would not let me have it otherwise till 20 weeks, so my hubby said, "why dont you fake another bleeding at like 16 weeks?" So I say that if you are desperate to see your baby, just say that you are bleeding :). In my case they are not sure about the reason, it is either my placenta which is currently covering my cervix, or just some past intercourse bleeding. I almost feel like a virgin again, bleeding after sex LOL

I see that a lot of you are into shopping. I got a lot of hand downs and have a whole closet of maternity clothes for summer, fall, winter. I just need to buy couple of pairs of pants and I am good to go. I am so glad I dont have to go shopping, I just prefer to sleep. But I did start showing. Although it still looks a bit like fat tummy, it got hard, so I know that it is not fat.

Children- is your ms going away? I am sorry about your cold. Hopefully you will feel better soon. What do you mean you felt your baby stopped growing? How do you measure the 2 pulses?

Neffi- how are you?

Angram- I went thru 4 pregnancy books and now I started reading books about baby's first months. I am freaked out too about everything we will have to do. Like how do you bathe an 8 pound human being? Or how do you feed them? How do you not gross out when they poop?

Does anyone from this group know the sex yet? My 20 weeks us is in 5 weeks. 5 LONG weeks.

Oh, and I have a question about pets at home. I think someone here had cats. How do we train them (try training cats!) so that they dont jump into our baby's crib? ANy ideas? Are cats a potential danger to a newborn? Can they suffocate babies?

Time for bed:) Good night. I am so happy all of our babies are doing fine on this thread. Most of us (or all) are in the magical 2nd trimester already. February is almost here...

unexplained,

Welcome back, it's so nice to hear from you and to know everything progresses well with your pg! Thanks for asking and my m.s. has not gone completely, but my energy level returned and I certainly is not "in coma" anymore.

About suspected that my baby "stopped growing", it was more psychological than physical - I "thought" in the past week, I had felt some baby movements, but I didn't anymore on Sunday night. I am always kind of superstitious since I had to tell people at work on Friday's happy hour (my belly starts to show), then I also told my father about our pg on Sunday. All these "pg announcements" made me uneasy - afraid of jinx. On the top of these, I was so sick that made me to spend hours on internet looking up how my cold would affect the baby...

Anyways, when I told my ob's nurse about my feelings, she said, the baby moves at this stage is unreliable, which means sometimes you can feel it other times it disappears... The nurse certainly knows how to calm me down.

angram.

I used to live in Houston and then in San Antonio and loved to drive to Austin for the Sat. live music and authentic French food - there is a very good French restaurant right in downtown where we could just walking and checking out bars.

Ftg,

Thanks and I do feel a little better today.

Oh, about the Doppler, I am happy to report that it worked very well for me. I heard my own fluttering, heavy and slow pulse first and as soon as I moved the probe to the left, a fast, clear and strong hb was there, it was much louder and clearer than my own pulse which woke up my dh! I think I will keep it until baby is here.

Dakota,

In my instruction, it says for early pg, it may help to find the hb if you have a full bladder. Good luck in finding it!

Hello Ladies,

I hope all is well with everyone. Welcome back unexplained...glad to hear you are out of the coma and doing well. Lol very funny story about the "bleeding" thing. I went to the ER early in my preg after my RE told me my gs was measuring smaller than they like to see. Welll I sent there and told them I had bleeding...I waited about 6 hours just for a doctor to come in a examine me...lol he said Mrs. I do not see any bleeding and nothing around the cervix to even indicate bleeding...I felt horrible...all I was thinking was well duh...I didn't exactly expect you to do all that i just wanted an u/s. So I finally got the u/s because I kept up the act...well I had the most horrible synographer ever..she wouldn't let me see the screen...I was furious!!! She kept telling me she was allowed to let me see the baby...by this time I had spent 9 hours in the ER and at the end of it all....I didn't get any pictures or anything else! I went to the hospital a few days later and got a copy of my records...I read where there was a h/b, yolk sac and fetal pole! I laugh now not because I'm so far past that point but only because now I'm alot smarter..I'd never go to the ER to fake anything...I'd run right to my ob's office now!

Children so happy your doppler worked for you! I was starting to lose faith in them completely. Although the dr.'s tell you the later the better, the companies that rent/sell them would never let you know that part. You'd think they'd be more considerate to expectant mothers..ooh well the cost of a profit.

Angram- thanks for info about the elephant...lol I have two pups and I've been saying to my husband...babe why can't I just go 90 days like the pups do. Now I'm feeling a little better learning how long elephants have to carry their young! 9 mths isn't seeming that long anymore..lol! That's a lie, but it may bet me through the day..maybe two! About my baby gift..yes I have it bad. I use to love shopping for myself, now I can go to shopping for the baby..all I need to do is hold off until the 4th of Sept...as soon as I find out what I'm having...i'm off to the mall!!

Is anyone else watching the birth channel a lot...I've been watching it all the time..tryng to figure out which birth plan I may go with! I've thought about natural water birth...lmfao..the thought came and went. I'd love to do it, just fully medicated!! I've heard it's great for the baby...the water part, but all I can think about is do I want my entire body to be wet after going through so much! Nah..I'll stick with fully medicated. I watched a mother give birth is a 10lb 14oz baby natural the other day..it made me want to schedule a c-section...I've been hearing some women in my birthing class talking about choosing how they will have their baby! My ob hasn't given me that option, but would I be wrong for just wanting to have a c-section..I mean then I could pick the birth day and everything. Well this is the draw back to the birthing channel..I'm asking questions that won't factor in for a good while!

Someone please give me a sleeping beauty pill so I can wake up in Feb...by the way I didn't mention this before, but my b-day is in Feb as well..I'm so hoping for a dual birth day...that would just be the best thing on earth..second to my healthy baby being born!!

I still cant find the HB!! I am so trying not to freak out!! I know that it is common, but you still cant help but be worried. My apt is tomorrow at 4 and it cant get here soon enough!!!!

I've been busted!!!! My boss called me into her office and asked me if I have something to tell her because it was so obvious!! I told her yes, but I didnt feel comfy telling anyone yet since I've had some issues and once I go in tomorrow and everything is ok I was going to tell on Friday. Now I am worried that becauase she knows that something may happen (see children, your not the only one)

Angram- I am glad all is well and your feeling better. your OB's office sounds great!! I am thrilled that you have the option to go in if you have some fears. I've been reading that alot of OB's wont do that for you, which I think is crappy. I have some birthing fears as well, but right now my fear is more if everything is ok.

Unexplained- Welcome back from coma girl!!! I am glad everything is going good & the bleeding wasnt antyhing major. Sex?? Whats that????
I ahve a feeling once I get to that point its goign to feel like I am a virgin again. This is the longest DH and I have gone without!! We had to go 6 weeks before after I had surgery, but nothing every over a week. Geese, its been 10 weeks!!!! Poor DH. I was teasing him the other day, he was melting metal to make a knife (christmas gifts) and he said "look at my right forearm at how big its getting" I said "are you sure that's not from spending too much time in the shower". hehehehe. He didnt like that :P

Children- I am so thrilled and jealous that you can hear the HB on the doppler!! That is awesome!!! I knwo about the psychological and being superstitious. Everytime someone finds out I freak out taht something bad is going to happen.
I am happy to hear that your feeling much better.

Babysoft- Oh, the things we do to see our litle one and make sure that everything is ok. Just think once they are hear the things we will be doing then!!! Its only going to get worse. I hear the worry never ends.
I do watch baby story, but I always cry!!! I ball!!!
Once you get ahold of that pill, make sure I get one!!!!

Where is everyone??? I miss everyone!!!!

So, I've been so consumed with worry over the little one that I havent thought about certain things. I was going through my file from the RE's office that was copied for OB and I noticed I have two different EDD. One is Feb 28th and the other is March 1st. Well, I had a sister who died when she was just a baby (SIDS) and her b-day was Feb 28th. I know that only 4% of women actually give birth on their EDD. I always think about certain dates, my mom died on my dad's b-day and he wont celebrate his b-day, even now that its been almost 12 years. Next year will be his 60th b-day and my sister and I have decided to throw him a surprise party. I jsut hope it doesnt upset him.

Anyway...I hope everyone is doing well and feeling good. Its almost Thurs!!!!! I am going insane!!!

Just think, next weekend is a holday...yeah...3 days off!!!! I said something to DH about that yesterday. He looked at me and said "what are we going to do? Oh, I know...your going to sleep" yup!!!

Dakota,

Tomorrow is soon here.

Just a thought about the Doppler thing, does your Doppler has a sound volume control button? Mine has one and it was at the lowest position. I could not find my own pulse first. Once I turned that to the half of the max sound volume, I found both of my pulse and baby's hb in a second. Another thought, you did not forget to put some U/S gel on the belly, right? I mean you should at least find your own pulse, if not the baby's hb since your baby is 3 weeks younger than mine. I read some reviews said certain Dopplers are useless before 12 weeks. Mine was able to pick up hb between 10~12 weeks, as claimed by the rental company, i would not know since I have already passed this stage. Here is what mine looks like.

https://www.dynamicdoppler.com/ProductC ... andard.asp

Good luck in trying that thing again tonight, remember not to move the probe position on your belly until you hear something, anything, such as your own pulse. And then move the probe slowly to find the baby's hb... Good luck!!!

Children- I did have the volume all the way up and I could hear my HB. Dh has told me I was not allowed to try anymore because I was getting worried. He wants me to take it with me tomorrow to the Dr's and see if they can help. I dont think I am spending much time looking. If I am on there longer than a min and cant find it DH starts yelling "your not a Dr, stop worrying yourself and just stop". I think its him that is getting so worried that is why he is pitching a fit.
So I am not going to try tonight and I am taking it with me tomorrow and asking them to help me.
I have the basic $20.month model from stork radio. I've put lots of gel on and I even did with full bladder.

Thanks for all the advise!!!

25 more hours to go!!!!

Dakota,

Good idea to take the Doppler with you tomorrow. The fact that you could not pick up your own pulse tells me that the sensitivity of your Doppler may be different from mine. You may have to wait for few more weeks to hear the hb, sorry.

The funny thing is your DH sounds like mine. My DH said to me if the baby happens to have problems and stops growing, what can you do about it now? I don't know the answer, but he does not carry the baby, I do, I am entitled to do what makes me happy, right? But honestly though, he smiled so big last night when the hb sound from the Doppler woke him up! Men are such hypocrites, LOL!!!!

Good luck tomorrow!

Hi Dakota and Children:
Hope you don't mind that I am adding my two cents regarding the doppler.
When I was pg with my ds, I did alot of research on the doppler.
My OB told me that the store bought ones didn't work very well, so I researched a company that was called babybeat. Now, I don't know if they are still around, but I could pick up my son's hb by 10 weeks. The doppler was the same kind that you find in the Dr.'s office and I rented it for approx $30ish /month. When I was finished, I put it back in the same box and mailed it back. It was amazing!! My dh and I checked the hb almost everyday, it really gave me a peace of mind. I will definatley get one with this pregnancy.
Hope this helps,
kim

Thanks Kim, but the doppler I have, which is from a different company, is the exact same ones from babybeat, but cheaper.

Ok ladies, today is my u/s cross your fingers for me!!! I had a crazy dream last night that a hurricane came through and I couldnt get to my apt and I showed up there at dark and there was a line of women outside waiting to hear their baby's hb. It was crazy!!! I told the women I wasnt going to leave until I could hear a hb!! Tornado's were spawning every where, the office was starting to flood. AND the crazy part is I was wearing wood shoes. I think some of it has to do with when I went to bed last night it was SO windy. Whenever there is a hurricane or TS close to GA we always get alot of wind.

I hope everyone is doing well and enjoying their little p-nuts growing. 6 more hours!!!!!

I have a thumb sucker!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG It was So great to see that!!! SO that is the picture we are going to use to announce to family. It is amazing all that you can see now. I can see lips, nose, eye socket, ears. Once s/he took its thumb out of its mouth we got a big wave. I am so thrilled that everything is ok. Mostly s/he was inactive, I guess sleeping and because she did my u/s via belly the hb noise didnt make s/he go crazy like it used to. We did see a little kicking, but no flips or dancing. The thumb sucking was better than all. So cute!!

I guess the reason why I couldnt find the heart beat is I was looking WAY low in the pelvis, she found it right below my belly button, like not even 1/2 inch. So we'll try it later in that spot and see what we get.

I am so relieved and happy right now.

Well, off to make the calls and get the cards ready to send out.

I hope everyone is doing well...its been pretty quite today.
