Hi girls! Seems like we are all getting ready in one way or another! I can't wait for all of us to move to the "parents after treatment" thread!!! I am now 35 1/2 and I have pre registered at the hospital, I was very impressed with the birthing rooms and all the stuff they do. I am also starting to get scared about labor and picking a position and all that other fancy stuff I had no idea! I am cleaning the house like crazy but nursery is not even close to ready! Yickes! It is weird knowing that it could be any time now! I feel the baby move a lot but it is not kicks anymore, it is more like slow movement here and there. Do you girls know when to call hospital or doctor? How many contractions in so much time etc? I have no idea and I have to ask! I feel so ill prepared for everything! My Dh's ex and SD are on a mission to cause us stress so I have been trying to stay as calm as I can, what is it with people and being so selfish and mean? I wish they would leave us alone to enjoy our baby that's coming!

Jomae - I can't believe the hospital took so long with your records, unreal! Congrats on your nephew! How can you tell she is moving from right to wrong position? I think I feel a butt up high but it could be a head!
Mellie- great nursery furniture! How about a belly pic now?
Suga - wow how exciting to bring Brooke home! I hope Mackenzie follows very soon! You have to give us all the good tips since you are the first mommy bringing home baby! Welcome to sleep deprivation!
Weezie - so glad you are ok and the house is coming along. I am surprised your OB said he wouldn't try to delay birth at 34 weeks. I know it is uncomfortable but it is good to keep Gavin in there a little longer ;) as if we had a choice !!!
Loopie - how did your doc appt go?
Mbre - I will have to let DH know about the massage, my OB actually said intercourse helps too so guess which one DH will pick? ;) My sex drive really is not there much since I am so uncomfortable all the time now. But I should try and perk up! I can't sleep much either and I am tired but unable to sleep, yuck! I can't even have chocolate cause of my GD  How was your shower? Lots of cool stuff? To get in you go to www.photobucket.com then username is octmommies2b and password is eddoct post some pics for us!
Tammy - how have you been? GD ok?
Gecko - what have you been up to? About ready?

any of you girls getting u/s anytime soon? I only get mine at 38 weeks, 3 weeks to go :( seems kind of late...

Tip # 1...sleep when baby sleeps! I am actually not THAT tired but I took a nap with her. She was WIDE awake when I was trying to make dinner so it was interesting trying to make dinner with just one hand free. She does not fit in her swing yet so I could not put her in there and she did not just want to lie in the crib. She needs to get bigger so she can fit in things!

Mackenzie no longer needs her oxygen turned up when she eats!!! She still breathes a little fast without oxygen so she is still on that. Hopefully in a couple of weeks she will be home!!!! Some of Brooke's preemie clothes are too big...yeah weird.

Other than that, it is great to have her home!

hi all
right on rio- mellie where's your belly pic!!! and the rest of you..... rio, you look simply adorable, and I love the colour of your hair - gorgeous- still with the stupid old ex and sd- UGH!!!!!! can no one teach them any manners? how about a family friend?

doc appt was very brief- and like weezie says- they won't stop contractions at 34+ weeks- if it happens - seems they baby is pretty strong by this point, so no need to keep him/her in. Actually, I asked how long they'd let me go before they'd induce ( dh, parents and more have been stressing me out by saying we could be 2-3 weeks late) turns out, my OBs only wait max to 41wks, then they take action- but if my cervix looks good, but not much happening, i could have them get things going at 40 to the day! now i'm not saying i want an intervention, but i am getting pretty anxious and jr is sooo low in my pelvis that it's like i feel him knocking to get out- and still they say I come back in 2 weeks, at that time I get some sort of infection swab, and then we are weekly til the end
have you girls gotten a pediatrician yet? it just occurred to me that we'd need one
only other thing I asked OB was how will I know it's contractions? she was sort of vague, but said they'd take my breath away and be on sort of regular intervals - still seems hard to imagine as I get so many weird feelings.....

weezie- must be great to finally be home- you and dh can settle down, focus on you, and be ready to welcome that baby!

suga- i'm guessing you are plum exhausted! dh and I are so very happy for you that Brooke is coming home- and Mac not long to follow!

jomae- we need a belly pic of you, too!! and thanks for the heads up on the bras- I wear a G already, so we shall see...

ok- soo tired another long day at school, but with some great progress on the art.

cheers to all- wow!! some of us are ready to pop!!!

only39 days to go

loopie - I sure hope you don't go over 42 weeks!!! I can't imagine another 6 weeks of being pregnant. My ob said she would let me go to 40 weeks only if my placenta holds up. Apparently in older moms the placenta can deteriorate faster towards the end. She is actually talking about inducing me around 39 weeks. That's three weeks for me! There has been some concern about my blood pressure. It has creeped up a bit, but is still in normal range. Anyway, she ran blood tests and the results came back today - no sign of pre-eclampsia. Hooray.

sugabeanzs - It sure sounds like you all are doing remarkably well! How exciting to have Brooke home. You are now our official mentor!

rio - Talk to your doctor about when to go to the hospital. My doctor said that if I have 4 or more contractions lasting at least 30 seconds each to call labor and delivery. I also had a growth u/s at 35 weeks (last week) to make sure the baby was on track. I think they only do one late in the pregnancy, unless there are other concerns, in order to see the position of the baby for birth.

jomae - It's about time the hospital got it together. I am glad you are all set. Not too long now...

weezie - I am glad you all survived the hurricane without too much discomfort. My doctor also told me that they wouldn't stop labor after 34 weeks. I guess the baby is pretty well developed by then and considered "term" for all practical purposes.

Mbre - How was the shower?

Tammy - How you doing?

Corny - My DH and I have been keeping up with your blog and wish you all the best. Hang in there. Abby will be home before you know it.

I can't believe we are all almost there!

KatieG: Are you in Texas? That hurricane looks scary!!! Florida has been really lucky this year!

MACKENZIE IS OFF OXYGEN!!!! She is holding her stats and no longer needs extra oxygen to eat!!!!! *happy dance* So now she just has to be monitored to make sure she handles herself without oxygen and to be monitored for brady/apnea episodes. Hopefully she does not need to come home on a monitor.

Brooke is doing well. Last night was interesting because she had so much gas that she was not interested in eating and did not eat much. I am having a hard time burping her...hard thing to burp her!

Girls, buy lots of diapers! lol

Went for another NST today and the OB said bean had a growth spurt, he even measured it 3x and palpated. Tell me about it! I feel like I am going to burst open! He felt the cervix and said the head was not in the pelvis so he couldn't really tell which position the baby was, head up or down so that will be for the u/s in 2 weeks! I gained 3 lbs after only losing weight cause of the GD diet. I never thought scales could go that high   I am officially heavier then DH  at 190 lbs!
Oh and OB said to call hospital or doctor any time water breaks (with or without contractions) or if I have contractions every 5 mins for 1 hr (regardless of pain or no pain). I have been having some mean contractions that are irregular.

KatieG- Hang in there sweetie, i am sorry about Ike coming your way :( keep us posted and good luck!
Gecko- How can they tell the placenta is holding up? :?: I am glad the blood pressure is under control, my cousin had a c-section 2 wks early so hers wouldn't go up as much.
Loopie- are you sure your age is posted right? Dang girl, in the pics you look like you are in your 20s! Thanks for the comments on hair color, used to come from a drugstore box but now are highlights so the dye does not get on the scalp or the smell... I can't believe you feel him so low and they said to wait 2 wks for another appt! My bean is still high and crowding my ribs. I got the strepB swab today, no biggie. We picked a pediatrician based on friends. You should schedule an appt asap! You want him to be the one who does the well baby check or be there in case of a c-section. my contractions start weird, like the baby is moving slow, but then I feel my whole lower abdomen really tighten and tense up, my breathing changes, then it slowly relaxes. No pain just tightness.
Suga I am so happy you have one of your girls home! How exciting! I can't wait! Post more pics if you can!!!

Anyone else still working full time? It is killing me! I am going to take off two weeks before due date, so Sept 26th is my last day (I will still do some work from home). I don't know how else to sit, I am just so uncomfortable and no place to lay down for a sec here. This is hard!

Well its 530 here and its windy but only 20-40mph right now. We are about 20 miles north of downtown houston so we wont have the surge like galveston but defin. the power outages rain and wind 80 mph. Who knows how long we will loose power. Im more mad about being hot the next couple days then the storm. But we are just going to bunker down and all will be well. I hope everyone have a great weekend I will touch back when power returns I expect it will go out by midnight once the wind gets going.

Ok seriously, the hurricane has not hit yet but they are predicting that the refineries will be injured...so $5 for gas!? Seriously?

Well, Mackenzie is still off oxygen! I will go visit her later for a bit hopefully. It really is hard to go up there and see her for a long time now that Brooke is home so she needs to get her butt here so I can spend more time with her.

Today I am plum exhausted. It has caught up with me. Plus I had to spend 2 1/2 hours at the doctors just waiting to see the doctor! UGH! Brooke is now 4 lbs 11 oz!! Getting up there finally. Mackenzie is 5lbs 8 oz. But it really is hard to finally fall asleep, get into a deep sleep, just to be woke up. *sigh* It is worth it when they look at you and smile (even if it is a gas smile! lol)

Hey there girls

Katie hope to see you posting soon with no damage to report

Hello suga yep everything changes once you are the only one responsible and making all the decisions and the only one getting up through the night. The girls must be in a good routine by now or are you finding you have to start again with that. great news to hear Kinzie is continueing to do well it must be hard not being able to be there 24/7 for both the girls thankfully though it's not long to go and they'll both be home with you.

rio poor you still working full time i couldn't imagine how buggered you would be hope fully you have a desk job and you don't have to be on your feet all day are you in a position to take time off after bub arrives

Gecko three weeks it's not long at all glad you don't have the pre eclampsia . Yes i'm glad my hospital has finally got my file i was really ticked at my last appointment and even started ringing every couple of days to harras them until it arrived.

Rio i think you asked about the right and wrong position for my bub i'ts not that she is moving to a wrong position as such she's definately head down the problem is she is laying with her back to my spine instead of her spine to my stomach and when bub has her back to my back a natural delivery is harder and more painful but not impossible as far as i know so it's not the ideal position to be in . and the only way i can tell is if i lay on my back i have a flat spot in my stomach and when standing my stomach seems to have more room with not so much pressure but when she is in the correct position my stomach is hard round and tight and definately more uncomfortable.

Anyone not looking forward to having there bubs out. i'm definately having doubts about how i will handle two of them ds is smack in the middle of the terrible two's although he's such a sweetie he tests my patients so often with his new tantrums and fussy eating. My sister had her boy last monday and when visiting he was fussing a little about his feed and it totally brought back memories of the troubles i had with ds and has made me doubt myself and what i'm capable of which of course then makes you feel guilty for many reasons. I guess i can only hope this bub is easier to read and care for.

Anyway best go hope everyone is well and not to uncomfortable in the heat have a good weekend

Tip: Do not hold them when it is time for them to go to sleep (my personal tip here). Just put them in their crib/bassinet. Or else they will get used to you holding them to fall asleep then they will not sleep when you just put them down. So dang annoying! So I have to retrain her and it breaks my heart for her to cry. Of course, make sure it is not gas/burp/diaper issue.

Mackenzie is still holding her stats! No heart drop since the 12! So hopefully she can keep it up so she can come home and she can get some lonvin! I am SO scared that I am going to get no sleep when she comes home. When I am tired now I do weird things ex: I just put on my husbands deodorant instead of mine and now I smell like a man lol.

Formula is so dang expensive and they go through it so fast! ugh. I think it is crazy they can charge so much for it.

Hey suga
Glad Kinzie is continueing to do well and hopefully coming home real soon. your right about the holding to go to sleep tip you also want to try putting her down just before she nods off to help her self sooth and go to sleep on her own for the first three or four months my ds dozed of in my arms and as soon as i went to put him down he would be awake and screaming which was a huge problem and so draining we eventually had to do a little controlled crying to retrain himbut thankfully it does work and reasonably quickly so definately start working on it before Kinzie comes home to help make it easier for yourself your still wrapping her to go to sleep aren't you that was another of my mistakes not wrapping him properly which makes them more unsettled and harder to put down.

Hi ladies i had my appointment today and there is nothing in my file to suggest that i have to have another ceasar the doctor said today that i have a 40 % chance of neeeding another Emergancy Ceasar but it's my choice as to which way i go if i choose the ceasar option i will have katie with me on the 16th of october or the 20th which ever i choose what to do what to do

Katie your in texas is that right i hope you and your family are all ok i guess you haven't got power yet just wanted to let you know i was thinking of you and hope your ok

I'm off to bed i'm so tired today hope your all well take care JOMAEXXX

Jomae - I am so happy that you may be able to skip the c-section!!! Hooray! What are you going to do?

sugabeanzs - Great tips on the sleeping. I know that I will be able to do that but am not so sure about DH. He is pretty much a sucker for crying. He can't even bring himself to crate our dog! I don't know how he will handle the self soothing process that babies need to go through. Glad Mackenzie is continuing to do well. I hope she is home soon.

Katie - Hope you are doing well and that that the storm has left you undamaged. Please post when you can.

Rio - Still got you beat on the weight by 10 pounds!!! Don't worry it will all come off. I am being monitored twice weekly with the NSTs and on Friday I was having lots of contractions that I felt and lots that I didn't. They told me to come to labor and delivery if they are so strong that I can't talk though them and if they are close together. So far they are not regular at all, but some of the really HURT! I am also not sleeping well - was up at 2:30 last night.

Today I have another appt with my ob. I am going to ask (beg) her to get me off work asap. I have been teaching high school full time, but the standing and the hours are really getting to me. Also, since these contractions started I am really uncomfortable and crabby (DH says I'm crabby at home too - poor guy). I also am having cramps and lower back pain. I certainly hope this is the beginning of labor! I was told that this can go on for weeks. How does anyone stand it! My ob was talking about inducing me early anyway because of my blood pressure which is slowly creeping up so I hope all these contractions are ripening my cervix which will allow the inducing to work better. I will keep you all posted. Thought the full moon might bring on labor too, but no luck!

Have a great week!

Hi Everyone!

Well, Wednesday is my big day!!! I went to the doctor on Friday and he decided that these two little ones are going to make their appearance on Wednesday at which point I will be 36 weeks. Honestly it couldn't be soon enough. I am in agony because they are both up under my ribs and my stomach has not popped out all that much - well considering I am carrrying twins! Anyway, I can't wait to meet them and find out what genders they are!

I go for my last appointment tomorrow at which point I think they will measure them to confirm that they are big enough - in the 4.5-5.5 lbs range I think. Hard to believe that in a few days from now I am going to hold them in my arms. I am doing a vaginal delivery so I go in Wed morning to get induced.

How is everyone else doing? Any chance anyone else will be having their babes in the next week or two?

Katie - I hope all is well with you in Texas! Thinking of you!

Hope all you mommies are doing great!
