Hi everyone - OK so for those of us having twins or more. Watch you weight...... right HAHAHA

So I had my OB appt yesterday and everything checked out fine. Except for the weight thing. I guess my OB thinks I am to big. How do you like that. Oh well. She said for twins is best to gain 5 pounds ish each month and since my last appt I have gained 12....... 12 POUNDS not so good.

She said not to worry but its puts my at a higher rate for GD later on if I keep it up. So Dh and I went to the market and got lots of low fat good snacks and lunches. but still its so hard. I do eat well I do really I have no idea where this weight came from.

Any one else seem like a small pony other then me???? Just lie its ok makes me feel better HAHAHAHA

Kimmy I am sorry to hear about your scare and Steph you must tell us when you hear from the DR. and Silver I am glad its all ok.

Well I am at work so I better get back talk to you all soon

working like crazy...

Post by Literatriz »

Dear all,
Just came back for a 3 hours journey of extra work. Time to put my feet up and check in!
Stefanie, I'd like to know where you are on your pregnancy...how many weeks? I hope you are doing OK by now. You are carrying weight and working full time...well, I have been reading and checking with my doctor and it seems that physical and emotional stress are directly correlated with prematurity and other not so pleasant events (just check rates of neoatal mortality of low-income single mothers ...it is so sad). I have purchased a rolling cart for my computer/stuff and, I am taking it easy (feet up twice a day, afternoon nap). My doctor told me not to lift anything heavier than to 5 to 7 pounds. DH is loosing weight :) doing all the chores!
SilverAngel, what a beautiful name! I love Elizabeth Paige! It is so strong and still romantic. Sorry for the disgusting glucose exam. Hope results come back OK with no repeats any time soon.
Carisa, good luck choosing the names. I am calling the choices aloud, pretending the child is far away, or that I am a bit annoyed with him/her...so I can explore the nuances of the name. I also imitate the voice of a teacher calling their names in middle school - with their last names. For now, it has eliminated everything with G. (first letter of my last name). Paige has my vote, too!
Kimmysq, sorry about your scare! We IVFers are so much more prone to freak-out episodes! It has been almost a month since my last spotting and I am still afraid of looking at the toilet paper after wiping myself. Hope things are OK now. Pain in the back can be also explained by the hormones alterning the way our hip bones connect (we are literally "opening up") to make like easier for the baby.
Hi Gennessa! First, let me ask that...what is a small pony? Is it a body pillow? I am thinking about buying on (thanks Silverangel) but for now I am using three pillows - plus DH for extra support.
I really think you should ask for a referral and see a nutricionist, log your food intake and change things radically (unless you are retaining more water than it would be expected or you have lowered metabolism for things such as hypothireoidism). Obese women do face greater challenges and doctors do not "loose time" with us helping us with figuring out what to eat. I hope you get some help and start feeling better about your weight gain!
In my case, I am strugglig with the opposite problem: M/S plus food aversion (no chicken, meat or fish) plus sudden attacks of hunger...that saciates with much less food than before. I have gained only 6 pounds so far (after finding the wonderful taste of melted goat cheese on Italian bread...and ice cream/waffle sandwiches).
Wishing every one a nice, REST-FULL weekend. Seriously!

Gennessa, I don't know how big you were before you started but I gained wait with the fertility treatments, about 15 pounds. I am pregnant with twins and almost 30 weeks and at my 29.5 week appt I had gained 56 pounds so far, not including the fertility weight gain and I don't have GD I did fail my first GD test but when I did the 3 hour I passed with flying colors, so don't worry too much. I don't know how much you have gained so far. I am also not having anymore bp issues so I guess that is why they don't say anything. Don't deprive yourself of your cravings if you can help it. As you go along you are going to have water weight adding on. My feet are huge now compared to what they were, so that adds to your weight as well. Congrats on the twins.

Literatriz, I was not ignoring your question, I just saw it. As far as how big you get, everyone looks different but typically the belly size is anywhere from 1-2 months ahead of time. For example, my doc said that by 31 weeks my uterus is going to start thinking it is full term and generally that is a peak time for when preterm labor is going to start. So hopefully that helps. I just can't believe i have another 7-8 weeks left as big as I am . I am going to do another belly pic this Tuesday I will post it when I do.

Wow, so many new posts!!

Stefanie-On no, I know you are so worried, you should get in to see your doctor asap so you can know what it going on. It may be nothing. I know spotting can be completely normal with twin pregnancies, even when everything is fine. My gc lost her morning sickness very early, I think it was around 9 weeks, and that really made me worry. For her it was completely normal though, so you never can go by symptoms. Let us know when you know what is going on.

silverangel679-I'm so glad everything checked out great at your ultrasound. I know how scary that first trimester is!! I swear, I was counting down each day as each day passed!!! You are almost to the 2nd trimester, yay!!

Genessa-You're so funny. My gestational carrier actually only gained like 6 pounds the first tri, but that is because she was so sick!!

Literatriz-I've been calling out the names too, seeing if it sound cute or just ridiculous. So far I'm having no luck with the boy names. The ones we have tried all sound strange to me. Hmm. By the way, my gc bought a body pillow, and it has been the best purchase for her. She's in love with it!!! She also has major meat aversions like yourself. She was a huge meat lover before too, so that was a little surprising to her. Good luck with your weight gain, I know it's been hard for my gc, she's getting full too really quick now because her stomach is all crowded.

Carisa - thanks.

I came back and saw the OB on monday and all was fine. she was great and didn't make me feel neurotic for coming in.

I am spotting again today so am sitting on the sofa. just a little. brown. Has anyone else had spotting? I read the placenta may be implanting now. I am at 9 1/2 weeks.

I know weight gain is a concern, but w/ multiples It's a GOOD thing to gain early. I ate a super healthy veggie diet when trying to conceive, and now between cravings and queasiness, I am eating meat, dairy, more carbs and even some pringles and ice cream (not at the same time) . I try to balance it w/ apples and carrots and omega 3 rich foods, but we can all just do our best. I too gained 15-20 pounds doing fertility treatments this last year. My face is fat (to me) etc, but more importantly, I am pregnant. That is all I tell myself. Luckily we will all show sooner and the 'fat' appearance will be welcomed with smiles and good wishes. I hope we can all avoid obsessing in this area. Every one of us on this board is so lucky to be where we are. We've suffered the BFNs and been told by some callous doc to just give up trying. We can all reconnect in july '09 and do a work out plan together, but till then I just wish everyone here a healthy pregnancy and healthy deliveries.

I think all the hollywood 'glamour' pregnancies have put unrealistic expectations on this time. If I need to sit on the couch for nine months to get these guys born healthy, so be it I will.

Brown is not so bad

Post by Literatriz »

Hi Stefanie,
I am just posting a quick note because I wanted to share my experience with spotting. It did go away around 8 weeks for me, so I think you should not worry that much. The body is getting a lot of things ready, micro lacerations of the wall of the uterus are super-common. You should call your doctor and take it easy just to play safe. Pain, intense red bleeding...that is another story (that I hope is not happening).
I hope that my now you are just wiping those scary brown drops after peeing (I am still scared every time I go to the bathroom). But they are only a proof that the uterus is getting rid of all garbage before sealing the cervix for good.
I loved your free writing on eating, getting fat and making the babies grow. My only concern is with some of us who are already obese - just because obesity increases complications. No Hollywood - we are real moms-to-be, toughened by so many "no"s as you said. We may walk our pounds away faster than anyone - because we will be carrying double or triple cargo on our strollers :)
Hope everyone is doing well!

Another thing going on with bleeding with twins is the double amount of blood that is circulating. I bled three times so far in my pregnancy. Once at 12 week and then 12 weeks 5 days and then again at 16 weeks. It is very scary but it is also very common but don't ever ignore it. Always demand an US to check it out.

have not been here in a while! Hope everyone is doing well. Had a meltdown today for the first time since being preggers. Was bound to happen with so much stress. Hubby doesn't understand why it happened, says I have no reason to be so stressed. That comment really did it for me, whew.

I tried to tell him how it all built up, 7 years of trying, blessed now with triplets, worried to death, he and doctors are convinced reduction is key in healthy pregnancy for me and the remaining babies, work is so much pressure - I have 97 direct employees to manage, 6 clients to ensure are happy, a boss who just doesn't get it, oh I could just go on, but I won't. I really don't like to talk about.

I feel so blessed, don't get me wrong. I love my life, my DH, this pregnancy, etc, all is wonderfulwhen looking at the big picture. But today it all crashed in on me.

Sweetmami: I'm sorry about all the stress you have. Try to take it easy for the babies sakes, they need you calm and serene now but I definatly could understand why you'd be so pressured. I have a question thought, They want you to reduce the babies? Why? is everything not going ok? Lots of people have healthy triplets.

hold on

Hey sweetmomy,
I really want to keep you in my heart tonight. It is a lot on your plate. Pressure from the demands of "right now" (job, DH, carrying the pregnancy), from the past (7 years of doubt and frustrated hopes) and from the future (the dance of statistics and the analysis of risks).
I would seriously tell you to take a day off. The whole day. Go over the pros and cons of reduction. Consider how much you will have to give up in your professional life if you really want to have triplets (and how supportive your boss/coworkers/emplyees can be). I read a lot of blogs of tripets and also articles on reduction (please pm me if you want the links). It is NOT a clear cut decision unless you have a medical condition that won't allow you to carry this pregancy until a viable week.
Reading, talking to your husband, meditating - all this takes time. You have waited 7 years for this moment. Please don't rush through it... Take the time that is needed to absorb so much information, contradictory at times and very very emotional. Forgive yourself for being a human being, a woman under a lot of hormonal pressure...not a manager.
Your husband may want to have things worked out in a matter-of-fact way but... try slowing things down. Maybe his emotional experiences will be better recognized. It happened to my husband :) He wanted to change cars and talked at lenght about it. But in fact he was worried about the babies.
We did not reduce. I am almost 50. I had 2 cesareans before (risk of rupture). Even though, it was not a clear cut determination to reduce. Talk to more than one doctor, listen to your husband. Reduction is NOT a risk-free procedure.
Sorry for writing so much but I am really thinking of you, worrying about the stress and the effect it has on your tiny babies.
Wishing you, DH and babies a calm, wise weekend,
Literatriz

sweetmomi - I couldn't work full time w/ all of this, so your meltdown is more than okay. The tiredness, the nausea, needing to take it easy. Triplets is HIGH RISK and I"m sorry your boss doesn't get it. But you do want to take care of yourself to prevent ending up on bed rest if you can. I was bitchy for 2 days, right to my DH who has been doing so much (all his usual stuff plus any stuff that requires lifting) he is wiped at the end of the day. I felt so bad, but then also realized - i'm hormonal. Deep down I knew I didn't mean it but I couldn't stop myself. Anyway, I hope you can relax this weekend, leave chores or hire a maid service for a week. just give yourself a break.

I think as women, we can have it all, just not all at the same time sometimes.

Congrats on the triplets.

Hi ladies, hope you all are doing well! I just came back from a business trip with my DH that was in San Diego. It is so gorgeous there!

Well, my surrogate has her 20 wk appoinment on Tuesday, October 7th. I'm nervous. Just hoping her cervix is still holding up. Her last cervix check was at 17 wks and her cervix was 5.5cm. So I'm just hoping it is still close to that. She is on her feet a lot at work, so it will be interesting. I've been praying like crazy that her cervix remains strong!

sweetmomi-I'm so sorry you are having such a difficult time. You are so blessed which I know that you are fully aware. Just wanted to tell you I have a few friends who are pregnant with trips and they are all healthy so far, they are both around 23-24 weeks. I also have a friend who has 2 year old triplets, so it is possible!! There may be some bedrest in your future though and I'm not sure how that works with your job. I hope you find peace and that you and your husband can agree. I totally understand your meltdown though. Remember you have lots of hormones running through your body right now. That alone will make you crazy.

Stefanie-Glad to hear everything is looking good. I know how scary the first trimester is. I'm sure you are counting down the days until the second trimester. With good heartbeats as far as you are, I'm pretty certain things will be just fine for you. Glamourmoms-LOL. I'm thinking Angelina Jolie. I'm so sick of her being in every magazine. I know it's not her fault, but still.....

How is everyone else doing?

Good morning ladies. I haven't posted in a while nd Just wanted to give you all a little update on what's going on in our house.
Besides being THRILLED that the 1st trimester is just about over we had another wonderful U/S last friday. We saw baby B bring his/her hand up to it's mouth and and start sucking his/her thumb. I know I use this word alot but it was AMAZING!!
Besides that my family and I are going in for a keepsake 3d sonogram done at one of those sonogram studios. We looked into it and they don't reccomend doing for sex determination until 16 weeks because then it's 100% accurate but we asked if it can be done at 13 weeks and they said yes but it's only 90% accurate.
Needless to say we're gonna take our chances with 90% becuase we're so anxious. We're paying for a package deal that will also let us go back @ 16 weeks for another one and at that one we'll get a dvd and slide show.
It's all me and my husband can talk about for days now.

I have a question actually. I've had a terrible headache for going on 2 days now and the doc told me it's ok to take Tylenol but I'm PETRIFIED to. Mind if I ask you ladies what your doctors have said about pain killers and if you all feel comfortable with it or not?

Thanks for reading my incredibly long post. Have a great monday every one and I'll speak to you all soon.

I have heard Tylenol is okay if doc approves it. Problem is, Tylenol isn't great for headaches.

I have just suffered through my headaches. Had one last night. I get them sometimes after a big meal when all the blood rushes to the belly and digestion.

Do you know Yoga? have you tried going into down dog position to get the blood moving else where or a little stretching? I am definitely looking forward to the end of the 1st trimester too, as I am getting a massage! I feel all knotted up, and just wanted to go back to my maya massage woman, as some people who don't know how to do pregnancy massage can do more harm than good.

I'm like you. I'm pretty cautious about this stuff.

How many weeks are You?

I'm 10wks 1 day today. week 13 is such a big marker for us. I miscarried at 12 weeks once so it's a big deal to make it that far.

We are doing CVS testing next week, so I should know the sex soon too. That's really exciting.
