Hello ladies! It's so nice to see more activity on the board.

For those on bed rest, I hope the time is moving quickly and that your pregnancies (and everyone else's) are progressing well.

Anacris - I hope you're feeling better now. It can't be fun getting the flu while pregnant.

Pincushion - hope you're getting some sleep. I find myself waking up nearly every night to go to the bathroom and often have trouble falling back asleep (sometimes due to DH's snoring). LOL! The things we have to put up with. :) Please keep us posted on your upcoming scan.

Thankfully, I "passed" my three-hour glucose test so I'm off the hook. I go to my next appointment on Friday. I saw a urogynecologist last week and she's recommending a c-section for me so I'll discuss the issue with my regular Ob/Gyn at the appointment this week. I'm still trying to track down a good pediatrician. The group that's highly recommended isn't taking new patients so I have to keep looking. Hopefully my Ob can provide some recommendations.

The nursery is moving along -- the crib is nearly set up (we had to return one of the side panels today due to a split in the rail). I am calling the painter shortly and am hoping he can come over and paint soon. Once those two things are taken care of, we'll be finsihed. Yeah!

All my best to each of you and I hope everyone is feeling well.

Lynn

Just checking on "itsgottawork"! How are you, girl??? Hanging in there??? Everything is wonderful here - little Noah Christian was born on August 20th weighing 7 pounds and 3 ozs. He is perfect and such a wonderful baby!!! I feel so very, very blessed. Don't worry about the weight gain - I gained 36 pounds and stressed about it. I lost 25 pounds in the 1st 2 weeks!!! Just enjoy this time - it will be over before you know it!!!

Have you decided on names??? Is everything going well?

Good luck to all the other mommies!
Me - 40; DH - 42

Hi Everyone!
How is everyone doing? I hope inactivity on the thread is just because everyone is busy and getting everything done in these last couple of months!
Lynn, congrats on passing the 3 hour test! That had to have been rough. Did you and your OB decide on scheduling a c-section? Do you have a date set for that? I am impressed that your crib is set up! Ours isn't going to be delivered for a few more weeks! :)
pincushion - I just was told to start taking iron tablets too! Off and on I have been anemic in the past so I wasn't too surprised but it is annoying to have to fit yet another pill into my daily regimen. I am jealous that you are now done with work! Please let us know how your scan went on the 17th!
Ana - How did your 32nd and 34th week appointments go? My 32nd is on Monday. I always look forward to the appointments hoping they will tell me something new. Is the c-section officially scheduled for 10/17 now? I wish you all the best in the last couple of weeks!
Jen - Have Madison and Morgan switched positions or are you still thinking a c-section is in the works? There are a lot of c-sections on this board I think! Good luck with the bedrest. I hope you can find some fun things to do!
I hope everyone has a nice weekend! I am looking forward to doing the final cleaning of the nursery before the painters start next week. They are painting the outside of the house and a couple other things as well so I am not sure when the nursery will actually get done. I have to wait a week after that to schedule the carpeting to be done and then I am hoping the crib arrives shortly after that. I am looking forward to getting through the next few weeks and then I am going to be able to hopefully relax more the last month.
Tina - I am going to catch you on your thread. Thanks for the post!
I hope all is well with everyone! Take care!
:)

Well hey everyone. Had my scan on the 17th September, and just as we thought he is getting to be quite big, placenta although not covering the cervix is still low lying, and my ob said considering the post partum haemaorraghing i had with my last boy that a c-section would be the best option, he will still grow more in the next few weeks. so one has been booked for October 20th. Yay! at least we have a date now and we are not in limbo wondering will we or wont we be having this c-section. The scan came up with him having quite a big abdominal circumference and my doctor said although i came back a negative on the blood glucose screen for gestational diabetes, large stomachs can sometimes be a sign that baby is being affected by this, OR he just has a lot of fat around his stomach. We hope it is the latter. They will take him and check him out after the delivery though, and I am to try and eat low gi foods, with no potatoes, white bread, white rice etc for the next 3 weeks. But boy, have I had sugar cravings now these last few weeks. He measured around 6 pound at the scan so with 3 weeks still to go we are all taking bets at what he will weigh.. i guess we will find out soon enough.. hope everyone else out there is doing well, keep us posted, it is especially good to read to help bide the time waiting nervously and anxiously for our bubs to arrive.

Hi everyone,

Hope everybody is doing well, itsgottawork: hope your 32 week scan goes great, mine have gone very good, although the babies faces are very hard to see now, there is so little space it is very hard to understand what we are watching, I do not understand how two babies fit in there, but let me tell you that my belly is huge!. I am having a scan every week now to see that the babies are in no stress, I also had the celestone shots so the lungs of the babies mature just in case they come sooner than expected. My c-section is scheduled for october 19th, hopefully I will make it till then since I will be almost 38 weeks and hopefully they will not have to stay in the NICU. I live in a small country which has a very good health system but we are having the problem that NICU units are colapsing because multiple pregnancies are a lot more common now and there are a lot more premature babies than a few years ago.
Pincushion: we are having our babies almost the same day!
Hope all of you girls are doing great and happy we are all meeting our babies very soon. Hope to hear from all of you soon.

Hello everyone!

I'm so glad that everyone is still progressing normally.

TinaO - Congratulations on your baby boy!

Itsgotta work - how's the painting and carpeting coming along? I hope it's all going smoothly for you. I really can't believe that we're done with just about everything in the nursery. I just love going in there and checking it all out. The walls are a light pink and my husband can't stop teasing me that the baby will grow up to be a sissy because of all the pink. I still need to find some wall decorations but have narrowed down my search so I just need to get the items ordered. Good luck with everything. You seem so calm about it all. :D

Pincushion - I hope your little one is still doing well and that your carbohydrate restricted diet isn't too difficult. I am finding that I am craving a lot of chocolate these days. My weight gain has been normal so I am probably indulging too much because of that. I should probably slow down!! Are you kind of breathing a sigh of relief knowing that you'll have the baby on 10/20?

Anacris - Great news that your twins aren't under stress. I hope your c-section goes well on 10/19. It's not too far away, is it?

I had a little bit of a scare the other night. I was feeling a lot of abdominal pressure late in the day at work and that pressure got worse and worse as the night progressed. About midnight, I started getting some mild cramping as well. I went to the doctor yesterday morning and she ran some tests, checked out my cervix, etc. Everything is normal, thankfully, and the doctor isn't really sure what was going on. I'm happy I'm passed the 32 week mark and I'm praying we at least make it to week 37. I do feel a lot better today. Yesterday, it felt like I'd been repeatedly kicked in the abdomen.

We had our first birthing class at the hospital last night. It was pretty interesting. We went around the room and introduced ourselves and talked about our delivery dates, labor fears, etc. When it was my husband's and my turn, I did mention that I was scheduled for a c-section on 11/4. The instructor immediately asked why I was having a c-section, as if it was some kind of abomination. Of course, I didn't want to give my life history to the class and was a little uncomfortable with the question. I'm not sure we're going to go back to the next two classes. Maybe I'm becoming overly sensitive, but I felt like telling the instructor that if she'd only known what we'd been through, she might not ask such invasive questions. I'm sure glad I have all of you to "talk" to. It's so much easier with a group that understands.

All my best to each of you.

Lynn

Hi Folks!
Lynn, you cracked me up when you suggested that I am so calm about it all! That is hardly the case. I just am focusing on getting through the next few weeks, that's all. The painters started today so I am hoping the fumes aren't bad when I get home from work and that progress is being made. The weather isn't so good this week so they have to do all of the inside work first which pleases me as I don't care when they finish painting the house as long as the nursery is done!
This week is out of control crazy at work. I am in IT and am managing 2 upgrades that have been in the works for a couple of years and they are finally being done this week. So, when I go home Friday, I will be very relieved. This is the one thing I NEED to get through before giving birth! :) My shower is this weekend and I am also signed up for a breastfeeding class on Sunday. I am looking forward to these things but can't say I am calm about any of them and am really looking forward to just getting comfy on the couch with DH on Sunday night and catching up on TV. :)
I am so sorry to hear that your instructor was so insensitve about your c-section! That is just ridiculous. People go to those classes to have fears calmed, not to be second guessed on what they are planning to do. I feel she should be reported. (During this pregnancy, I have become much more assertive and can't stand it when people try to dish out this crap). If you don't go back, which is completely understandable, maybe you could get a refund and explain that the instructor made you feel uncomfortable?
There's so much we have to go through getting pregnant, it doesn't help to deal with people like that.
I have just heard of a benefit recently about IVF though. I was asking my OB how far they would let me go past my due date. I am due 11/24 and really want to have a November baby. She said they usually wait 1 week. But, she said people go late in part because their due date is miscalculated but, in my case, we definitely know it is accurate so she is hopeful that I will deliver on time. I thought that was so nice of her to say. I don't know if it is necessarily true but at that moment, I actually felt lucky to have gone through this process! :)
Congrats on getting a date set. 11/4 will be here soon!
Ana - Good luck on the 19th. That's less than 3 weeks away now!!! That is so exciting. I am jealous that you are getting scans each time. I have only gotten 2 ultrasounds, one at 12 weeks and one at 18 weeks. I am so curious to see what my baby looks like now! DH is happy not to get them though. We are waiting to find out the gender and he feels it is safer not to get an ultrasound and chance seeing something. :)
pincushion - Good luck on the 20th! I am jealous that you are all going before me! It makes me excited though. I can't wait to hear all about your successful deliveries.
I hope the low sugar diet helps. It doesn't sound all that fun but it will be definitely worth it in 3 weeks when you get to hold your baby in your arms!

Have any of your doctors recommended getting the flu shot this year? My OB recommended both my DH and I get one in the next few weeks and I was wondering if others heard the same recommendation.
I feel pathetic saying this given all of the injections I have had this past year but getting an injection in my arm still makes me nervous. DH and I were laughing because I was saying I would much rather they let him give me the shot in my behind. That is what I am used to and much more comfortable with! Isn't that crazy? :)

Enjoy the rest of the week!

Hi all,

Not sure if you remember me, but I started off with you all on this thread. I have been very quiet for the past few months as life has been hectic and I've been unwell.

I am now 35w5d and have had high BP and protein in my urine since 28 weeks. Life has just been a merry-go-round of doctors visits, scans and blood tests.

I am now also booked for a c/s on the 15th Oct. That'll be just over 37 weeks...11 days away.

Best of luck to all of you as we come down the home stretch!

Hi all,
Hope everyone is doing great, we had the twins monitored last wednesday and they are doing great, I can not say the same for me, I have developed an awful rash, I am going insane!, the c-section is now scheduled for october 12 because of this, since the rash can be a sign that the liver can not clean so many blood I have to do bloodwork every 3 days and depending on the results I would have to do an emergency c-section, hopefully I can make it till the 12th when I will be almost 37 weeks...

Hugs and well wishhes to all,

Congratulations Ana!! Great news about the weight of the babies. I hope you're healing well and that your rash is gone. Please keep us posted.

Good luck to everyone else having c-sections in the coming days.

I go to the doctor this afternoon for my ultrasound (amniotic fluid check) and the labor and delivery discussion. I'm so excited to see the baby - it's been too long since the last scan.

Best,
Lynn
