Hi Mommas!
another day closer!!!! :D :D :D

Rio- are you home??? hope all was a breeze and you are napping and nursing like a champ!
Suga- glad to hear that things are smoothing out and the girls are getting on a schedule.

who's up next???- Jomae???

dh and i are still getting stuff together, school is getting tougher for me- I'm hating my hand and feet puffiness and expect that will do me in well before my water breaks or those real contractions get going!

Congratulations Rio, Weezie, Kelly and all of our newest mommies!!!

We brought our little boy home last Saturday morning 9/27/08 from NICU....and he has been doing wonderful and gaining lots of weight. As of his last doc appt on Friday ...he weighed in at 6.5 lbs. He was born at 5.11 and lost down to 5.7 before starting the regain. So almost 1 lb in 15 days. He just slept 4 hrs and 40 minutes without getting up...woohoo! He went 4 hrs the other day too...and I told the doc and he said that it is fine since he normally wakes us up on schedule to eat and since he is making up for it at other times during the day and gaining so well. He is sooo cute and doesnt look sooo preemie anymore. I will post pics soon.

Hope all is well with our soon-to-be-mommies. Your time is almost here. Good Luck and short labors to you all! :D

Hi Everyone,

Declan is here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He was born on October 2 and weighed 8lbs, 1.2 oz, and is 19 1/2 inches long. We are all ok, but it was a painful delivery.

I went in on Tuesday for my regular appointment and because I was so close to my due date and since my bp was a little elevated and had been for a week or so, they decided to have me start the inducing by placing a gel on my cervix to get it to dialate. This has to be done daily on an outpatient basis. Unfortunately, I was having too many contractions to do the gel so they sent me home and said they would try again the next day. A few hours later my water broke (what a weird experience, and not what I was expecting it to be) and I was admitted. They had no choice to start the pitocin even though my cervix wasn't ready. I labored with HORRIBLE contractions for over 33 hours. I had four injections of fetanol (sp) and then tried an epidural. The first didn't work (and only blocked one side) and they had to do another, and another, and another. I ended up having four epidurals and none of them were effective. By this time I was begging for someone to just do something to help me. Finally they checked me and I was 6 cm and they gave me an hour and a half to see if I progressed any further. I didn't, so the finally did a c-section. That was a breeze! Through all of this, Declan did great.

Unfortunately, on day two he developed jaundice and needed to spend all day on Saturday under the u/v lights. He wasn't eating well either so we had to start supplimenting my breastfeeding with formula. He did pretty well so we got to go home on Sunday. I am hoping his billirubin levels keep dropping. My milk is coming in too, so I hope we can discontinue the formula soon.

We are so happy! I really didn't know that I would feel like I do about him. DH feels the same. We just can't believe that he is here and that we were soooooo blessed to have him. I just keep staring at him. Family has been wonderful too.

Kelly and Weezie - Congratulations on becoming mommies!!!!!!!! I wish you all the best as you settle into your new routine with your new family.

]I will do more personals later. Take care everyone!

Congrats to all the new mommies!!! WOOHOO!!! I hope you are all recovering well! I can not believe we are all here! What an amazing experience from IVF to babies!!!

gecko: Holy cow girl I am sorry! I ditto you on the water breaking...it is just a weird sensation. Just feels like you are peeing your pants but like a waterfall pee haha. Gosh, I am sorry about the labor then the section that sucks! I hope you recover quickly!! I am so happy he is healthy!! I would not worry about the jaundice there is hardly a baby that does not get it around day 2 then it is gone by day 5 usually.

I must say that, even though I've never met any of you in person, I feel a great sense of pride, honor, and respect for all of you, and consider you dear friends. It is truly amazing that wires and widgets could bring me closer to humanity- I have never before had web friends, so this journey has been all the more special because of all of you. I look forward to seeing pix (or in person one day, maybe) of the little ones very soon.

good momma karma to all

Loopie - I feel the exact same way as you do. You all are very dear to me and I feel like I have shared something with you all that I can't with other people. We have all gone through something that others just can't understand (although they do try) and we have come out the other side blessed beyond belief. Thank you all. I hope this is just the beginning of our friendships too. After all, we need to continue the discussion on the parents thread. Lord knows we will have lots to talk about with infant care etc...!

Katie- I know how you feel! I thought Declan would never come, but all of a sudden my water broke. You just never know when labor will decide to start. Sometimes there is no warning. I will think happy labor thoughts for you!

Rio- I hope you are doing well. I can't wait to hear your birth story. Post when you can.

How are the rest of you all doing?

I posted two pictures of Declan and his very tired mom on photobucket. I will post more later.

Here is our little boy! Born 10/2 at 7:53 a.m. PST 8lbs 3ozs and 19 1/4 "
He was standing up! Feet first so a c-section was the only way to go.
That was his "one day old" picture! We are finally back from the hospital. My c-section was quick and easy but recovery has been a challenge, Ihad some complications and had to stay longer at the hospital. I am sloooooowly getting better. Our little guy id doing amazing and breastfeeding like a champ!
Congratulations to all the new moms!!!!
Will write more when I can!
