ajdec Good luck for the retrieval!!!! With mine i didnt have any pain at all, nor any spotting, although they said i might. They told me to take tylenol if i had any discomfort but there was none. The only thing was i felt kind of slow and sleepy all day and the next which was just from the anaesthetic. Let us know how it goes!!!!!!!

ER a no brainer.. especially if they are doing the twilight sleep .. i have seen some stuff on the board about intubation i dont agree or think its needed..

Girls i have done this 4 times.. that anesthetic is a nice 30 minute sleep..

I felt fine after all of them .. in fact i was at a business meeting three hours after one of them..

After the transfe is really when you want to lay low..

welcome robin....and hi to all. robin, you'll get over those needles no problem..just give it time. and as far as ER goes- it'll be ok, a little discomfort at the most. i remember mine was uncomfortable at one point as some of my eggs were 'hiding', and the RE was apologizing and behaving in a reluctant manner- i just hollered at her- "i'm 35 yrs. old- you need to just get them out!". i really didn't care if it hurt.

so i've been blue today, no chris, i'm not excited- i think i'm morein the self-pity, defeated mindset, almost like i'm preparing myself for failure..i know i should have PMA and all that blah blah, BUT I DON"T. quite frankly, i've been pissy all day. i'm scared what's going to become of me if it doesn't work this time. (i know you've probably heard that from me way too many times).

i certainly don't feel like this all the time, but today i do. so i went to the gym and that helped me get out of my zombie-ish mood. and being able to talk about it helps too. maybe i need to make a gratitude list (again) :D

thats all for now, hugs karen

Karen - I can relate on the failure factor. I am even to the point that I am telling myself that if this cycle doesn't work, I am not trying again. I feel like a piece of me dies off every time I get canceled or get a BFN. It is hard to keep going on and to have PMA. I figure it is better to be positive because being negative only puts me in a bad mood and I don't like that at all. So I just keep putting smiley faces everywhere to cheer me up and look on the bright side of things that I have a 50/50 shot of getting a BFN or a BFP. I know my time will be here some time. I also keep up with the Aug/Sep board and about 50% of those women got their BFP and most were on their 2nd or 3rd cycle so that also give me hope. Glad the gym helped you out, I always feel better mentally after working out.

NY4thtry: Yes, I'm at SIRM. I heard about them through you and after doing my own research, thought I'd give it a go with them! I'm with Dr. T. Sorry about what your Dad said... he must know that this is important to you and that was insensitive to say. We are here for you!

Regarding my High FSH, my doc said "It is only a number and you are more than that number.". I thought that was cute! He also said that he expected me to respond well based upon my previous repsonse to IVF and the new protocol he has me on.

karenvancouverisland Great reminder on going to the gym and making gratitude lists!

ajdec: how did the ER go? I was out of it for the rest of the day. NY4thtry---you crack me up... i can't believe you went to work after!!

FYI: 10/13-Start Lupron; 10/24-Stims; around 11/4-ET
We are doing CHG on day 5 blasts (hopefully!!- big hurdles ahead).

chenry.. now i do remember those discussions but i didnt know you had decided to cycle there.. did you by chance ask Dr T about DHEA ? Dr Sher is very against it..

Did tghey also tell you that they pretty much are trying to do all blast transfers..

Yes my father is an insensitive son of a gun.. always has been..

Well i am the side effect queen i have started dexemethoprone(steroid) and it is making me so bloated and giving me a headache.. my body just doesnt tolerate this stuff too well

Adjec let us know how it went...

Frustrated with IVF nurse. She never calls me back. Meds not here yet and apparently not ordered yet. Someone else is ordering for me today. Need by Tuesday. Love my doctor though. Anyway, few more days of BCP and then hopefully the estrace (assuming it ever gets here).

Thanks all for your thoughts on the shots & the ER....

Catching up

Post by wonderce »

Hi all,
Wow, I was on vacation for a few days and there are so many new posts! I go see my RE tomorrow morning for a scan and then if all goes well, I start stimming on Friday. We still aren't sure of the exact ER dates since it will depend on how fast I respond, but are hoping for end of month. I'm getting excited again but trying not to get too worked up in case I don't respond again like last time. High hopes though!

Karen and Chris, I love the list you compiled. It's nice to see what stage everyone is at in this process. Does anyone have any tips on diet, exercise, or other things to avoid or do more of during the stim phase? for instance, I am still drinking my 1-2 sodas a day. Is this okay? Other suggestions?

wonderce

different people have different advice.. my first three failed cycles i excercised drank coffee soda etc..

after the failures i took charge and basically decided i wouldnt do anything that could possibly effect me negatively. So gave up anything with artificial sweetener, coffee even decaf, have curtailed my exercise substantially . I am also taking b pollen royal jelly wheatgrass as well as mutlivitamins and the folic acid... during stims rest and send all your energy towards growing those follies.. and eat lots of protein...

Hey everyone,

Just stopping by to say hey and catch up with everyone - nothing is hapening with me right now as i dont start the bcp's till next month....

I've been doing some research and i bought a book off Amazon 'Is you body baby friendly?' which is fascinating so far.... It theroises there are several reasons you can miscarry early, fail to get PG or have failed IVF cycles, so as you can imagine i'm so into it right now. I will summarise the concept & recommendations when im done if anyone is interested....

Also i went and stocked up on vitamins after reading an article listing recommended vits during an IVF cycle. My pre-natal vit didnt seem to cover all sufficiently. The list contains (as well as folic acid)-

A good quality multi-vitamin & mineral supplement
Vit C & E as this enriches the fluid which surrounds and nourishes the eggs
Zinc - helps with hormone production
Magnesium & vit A - aids egg production
Selenium & Magnesuim - improves fertilisation rates
Iron & Co-enzyme Q10 - enriches womb lining
Vits C, E & Zinc help your body repair after retrieval ready to receive the embryos
B COmplex - helps deal with stress throughout the cycle
One tablespoon of organic flax seed oil - vitally important for hormone balance and good ovrian health leading up to and uring IVF and pregnancy

I was surprised as my multi vit doesnt give 100% RDA or more in all these areas so i have re-stocked, although i will now be taking 8 pills a day (3 are DHEA) - i will definately be rattling when i walk
