ABIGAIL IS HOME!!!!!!!!!!! HOOORAY FOR CORNY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
you must be over the moon!( which btw is full, I think) :D :D :D oh to be able to hold your little one in your arms at home must be magic after such a long time! and you were hoping before Halloween? it's weeks earlier!!!

This means all the babies are home now? except of course the not yet born ones?
I had a small event yesterday, I asked my friend what amniotic fluid looked like as I thought I might have a leak (pants wetter than normal-ick) and she said I needed to call the doc right away, so I waited a while  , then called and doc said just to be on the safe side, to come in as infection could set in if that's what it was. So off I went, left Dh to keep working on the house and, well, long story short, nope! She said i may have had a small leak, but no current signs except slightly low amniotic fluid, 50% effaced, and no dilation. Sooooo, doc appt tomorrow, and maybe by then we'll have had a bit of activity?

Katie? you are now in the - everyone's calling to see if you've had that baby phase, I'll bet!   - well, we're rooting for you!

Jomae - sounds like you are raring to go! what are you doing for your birthday?

more later, going to try to get back to sleep for a minute before I head to school!

cheers

loopie

still bumpin' 08

this is an Aussie site i recommend you join the forum the ladies are fab with loads of responses to the simplest questions i've learnt so much

www.breastfeeding .asn.au

Question though how do you know hes not getting enough. You can tell if bub is getting enough if he is generally happy and healthy looking, he also needs to be having 6 to 8 pale yellow nappies (cloth) or 5 heavily wet disposable nappies per day soft bowel motions and to be putting on weight to be considered to be getting enough.

Are you doing both bottle and boob for any other reason other than to suppliment. an alternative to supplimenting with a bottle is to hand express a feed and then offer to bub in a syringe no needle obviously or in a medicine cup this reduces the confusion for bub between the bottle and boob as i said before ideally you don't want to offer a bottle even with ebm in it until good attatchment is established which is about 6 weeks. If you do find your supply is a bit low feed feed feed and offer both sides by offering only one side per feed you reduce your supply

With that said check out the site above honestly it's very helpful the even have councellors and lactation consultants that come on to answer questions oh you could also try expressing between feed to increase your supply

hope this helps good luck and don't give up you'll both get there it's all a learning process

loopie now im worried Ive wondered about that as well Ive felt extra gross the last while but never really broght it up. Maybe I should call doc tomorrow. How would they know if it is a leak? Would he have been able to tell the last couple times he has checked me on my reg appointment?. What will happen???? Now im a bit scared. I am due to induce wednesday if the hopsital has room. I have to call them at 5 am. SHould i call my doc tomorrow and ask? I told him about a month ago i felt extra gross and he said its normal all the hormones but it has gotten worse in the past two weeks.

Katie,

They can do a test called the fern test to look for an amniotic fluid leak. It's basically like a pap smear, except they can't use the lubricant, so it HURTS when they put the speculum in you (I had two of them during my stay in the hospital...ugh). But it's basically just a swab. They call it a fern test because if it's positive, the cells actually take the shape of a fern leaf (or so I was told). Anyhow, when I was tested and it was positive the doc stopped doing any vaginal exams because he didn't want to introduce any bacteria that could cause an infection. I would bet that since you are so far along they would probably just deliver you at that point...but I'm no doctor.

Image Woo- hoo - Welcome home Abby! Corny I am so happy for you, you have had a tough and emotional journey these past months. post pics!
Loopie- what a wonderful birthday gift! Happy birthday and I hope bean comes soon! we managed to get a short break from skid which has been awesome. she came to the hospital and didn't even want to touch him and while people were saying how cute he is she would say "he has no eyelashes" and other stupid things. oh well! please post your bellt pics!
Gecko-you look radiant and your bean is adorable! Congratulations! I amreastfeeding exclusively so far except for one time at the hospital I used a Haberman nipple. the first few days were hard especially due to csec and he was on oxygen for 4 hours, we struggled and I expressed a bunch into his mouth. We finally got the hang of it and he is breastfeeding well, I was lucky and persevered so now I got milk and it leaks once in a while but I don't pump and do bottles yet. This was a lot harder than I thought.
Weezieso sorry you had to deal with all that before having your bean, are you all better now? he is so adorable!!!!
jomae - happy birthday coming up! wow thursday is right around the corner! How exciting!
Tammy- Zach is adorable! Keep pics coming! You look awesome!
Katie - any signs yet? It is weird our due dates were Sunday. Wow! I am wishing you some progress soon so you can meet your bean!
Mbre - how are you doing?

Sprry I have been MIA. I was having a really hard time managing the pain and on top of it it hurts when I urinate and I can't feel my bladder which is unusual for csec. I feel better today but this has really kicked my butt. DH has been nothing but wonderful and amazing to us both. I am jus amazed we created this amazing human being, I am so in love with him. Anyone got baby blues? I was worried I would have it but nothing so far besides intensive drooling over baby! He still stays up all night sleeps during the day and is slowly gaining weight back so the ped said to feed as he wants and not change schedule right now. I am so tired!
I will try and update the calendar!

Much love to the mommies and mommies soon to be!

Jomae HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!!!!!(and birthday for baby... tomorrow :D :D :D ) I hope everything goes amazing for you

Corny- I'm going to pop over to your site and hope to see Abigail pix at HOME!!!!!!!!!!! I'm so proud of you and your DH- what courage you've had in the face of such adversity- you're really an inspiration!

Katie-you're a trooper-hang in there- as Corny said- they did a swab to see if I had any amnio fluid- and if they had seen any, I'd have stayed for the duration! I'm sure everything is good with you, I hope you'll start to have regular contractions on your own w/o induction, and have a superfast delivery. I know how anxious you are- just get as much rest as you can b/c labor is exhausting- that seems to be the advice that everyone has given me, so I'll pass it along- the rest of what folks have been saying is just getting on my nerves!!! oh and the phone calls..." got a baby yet???" like I maybe forgot to call them...grrrrrrr We'll be thinking of you -GOOD LUCK !

Rio- so beautiful! I, too was looking back to the earliest photos, what a ride! wowee! Glad you're getting the hang of breastfeeding- I hope with my big tatas I'll do ok with it, but it still terrifies me more than the birth thing in general

Decided yesterday was my last day at school- I suppose that if my b-day was not tomorrow(friends are coming over to feed me yippee! :) :) :) ) I'd have tried to go in one more time, but what the heck! Good thing, as I have officially swelled up like a tick my face and hands are crazy, hope it will go down as the day progresses- don't want to go anywhere looking like this. Have doc appt this afternoon- hope to have some exciting stuff to report but suspect it will be boring, but boring is good, right?! :x

Ok mommas- have a beautiful day and I'll catch you this afternoon!

good birth, baby and breastfeeding karma coming out to you all!

loopie

Hi Ladies,

Let me say congrats to all of you that have delivered and to Corny for getting to bring Abigail home.
I didn't make it to Oct. My beautiful baby girl was born Sept 25th at 8pm by emergency c-section due to preeclampsia. We were 37 weeks 1 day when she was delivered. She had some problems breathing at first due to fluid on her lungs but it corrected itself in 12 hours. Aubrey Charlize weighed 6lbs 14oz and was 18.75 inches long and is absolutely perfect in every way. I was put back in the hospital about 5 days after we were released due to HELP disorder/preeclampsia and was very sick and spent another 2 days in the hospital when she was about 10 days old.

Thanks to everyone for their support during these very special months. I can't believe that we did it.

HI cincinnati dreams, I am part of the Sept 2008 mommies to be board but lurk here because you kids are more active. I saw that you too got preeclampsia and HELLP syndrome. I was overdue but when I went in to be induced at 41 weeks and 2 days they quickly figured out I had severe preeclampsia and some of the HELLP symptoms like low platelets and high blood pressure and protein in my urine. Very scary indeed. Anyway I wanted to reach out because I haven't seen a lot of other women on this board who has HELLP syndrome and I guess I just wanted to say I'm here if you want to talk.
Congrats to all the Sept and Oct. babies and mommas. ..

Lost Girl/CincinnatiDreams- Wow. I had HELLP too. That's crazy, because it is so rare. I developed a severe case of HELLP before delivering. My platelets were below 50, my liver enzymes were 587, I was vomiting and urinating blood, had the high blood pressure and my liver was about to rupture! I've been very fortunate to bounce back and only had to stay in the hospital 4 days after delivering. I hope the both of you are rebounding from this. Please take care of yourselves.

Loopie/Jomae- Happy Birthday! Jomae your big day is quickly approaching. I wish you the best of luck. I can't wait to see some pics of the little one. Loopie- get a move on already.

Corny- congrats on bringing Abigail home. You must be thrilled! I hope all is going well.

Katie- hang in there. I guess your little one is just making sure you know who's the boss, LOL. Hopefully you will be holding your baby in your arms real soon.

Rio- would you expect anything different from your SD? Mine skids don't even care that Gavin was born. But that doesn't bother me one bit. We are just focusing on this bogus claim the ex has filed with the attorney generals office. rrrrr.....the bastards are taking out 2K a month from DH's wages. Whatever. We finally found an attorney in the Houston area and she seems to be a real pitbull. I can't wait till this is behind us. Btu anyway, your son is precious! I remember someone posting about how cute all our babies are, and they are. We really cranked out some good lookin' babies!! I hope you get to feeling better soon. Take care of yourself.

I hope the rest of you are feeling fine and loving those little ones! Remember, "100 kisses a day" :D That's what I tell and give Gavin.

CONGRATULATIONS CINCI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

i'm glad Aubrey is here and you are both now safe, healthy and at home! I'd never heard of HELP, then 3 of you wind up with it.

so we're the lone holdouts! Katie, Jomae, Kildean, Mellie, Mbre & Hopin?
wait-is that right????

well went to the doc today- had a grumpy day and to top it off- still nothing!!!!!!!!!! I mean, I know it's not my due date yet, but a little activity would be encouraging! - actually, I'm much better now, but had a good pouty cry in the car after my appt, then got some awesome fried chicken-
on the bright side, it's been a beautiful day, warm, sunny, gorgeous sunset, full moon, birthday tomorrow- so perhaps I'll get a spring in my step and go shopping and spend some of these giftcards!

alright gals - wishing Jomae and Katie the best - looks like you'll be our next newest mommies

GOOD LUCK!!!!

Jomae - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!! Good luck tomorrow. I can't wait to hear your birth story and see some pictures of Katie. Please post when you can. Thanks for the breastfeeding link. I have had such a bad time of it and all the info I can get is good.

Katie - Good luck tomorrow. I know just how you feel when you say you can't do one more day. I felt the same way the last week I was pregnant. I hope they fit you in and that your delivery is smooth. You are being induced, right? Hope there is no c-section involved. Can't wait to hear.

Loopie- Loved the tick comment!!! It is the perfect analogy for the last week of pregnancy! I hope you have a wonderful birthday. I am thinking lots of good labor thoughts for you. I am sorry you had a grumpy day, but it sounds like you have a great day to go shopping. Perhaps the full moon will work in your favor.

Corny- Hooray for Abigail coming home!!! That is so awesome! I checked out your blog. What a bummer about the inflated pooh. Who would do such a thing?!?

Rio - I am so glad that you and William are doing well. Awesome that he is breastfeeding like a champ. I found that breastfeeding was the hardest thing of all. I hope it continues to go well. I did get a bit of baby blues. It started about the same time my milk started. I am not super tearful, but get easily upset and overwhelmed. I am sure it will pass in time and DH has been really good about dealing with it, thank God.

cinci - CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!! I can't wait to see some pictures of Aubrey. I am sorry you ended up with preeclampsia and HELP. I hope you are now well. What an amazing journey we have all endured. I really hope we all keep in touch on the parents board. Boy, I never thought I would get to THAT board!!!! What a blessing.

Weezie - Wow. You had preeclampsia and HELP too. How scary! I hope you are now feeling good and able to enjoy your little Gavin. I like the idea of 1000 kisses. Declan make such funny faces when we kiss him. It's hysterical. I wish I could capture them in pictures.

So the breastfeeding issues has come to a head. Declan absolutely REFUSES to take the breast. It got to the point that he would scream when I tried to nurse him and just got more and more upset (upsetting me of course) and calmed down as soon as we gave him a bottle. So I just kind of gave up. I am now pumping and feeding him with a bottle. As it turns out I don't make much milk anyway, so we are having to suppliment him with formula. I am really sad as I loved the nursing, but I have to do what is best for him. I plan to talk to his doctor about it tomorrow to see if there is any alternative. I am just glad that I can give him some breast milk. I just feel like such a failure. There is so much emphasis on breastfeeding and support from our providers that I feel like a bad parent not breastfeeding. Oh well, I just need to get over it.

Also, are any of you on schedules yet? We still have trouble getting him to sleep in the late afternoons and last night we were up all night. We are giving him mylacon for his gas and that helps a little, but when he gets wound up, he just doesn't quit. Any tips?
