Just my opinion, but I would not transfer 3 blasts unless the blasts were very poor quality.toobee wrote:I did 5 day transfer. My RE put 3 5 day blasts back in me. For financial reasons we decided 3 instead of 2 because of my age and my RE agreed that was a good idea. We also had decent qulaity blasts but not great. Everthing I read, along with my discussions with my RE told me that multiples where less lkely on woman over 35. Well in my case all three took. At 7 weeks we had three heartbeats, at 9 weeks we had two...I miscarried baby C but the twins are ok. I know allot of woman who put in 3 5 day blasts and ended up with one baby. I also have read allot of woman who had twins and some who ended up with a nn viable pregnancy.
I think its a personal decision. I wieghed the risks and decided the odds were low of me having more than 2.....I Know my story is not the norm..but I stillfel good abot our decision
I hope that helps, I wish you the best!!!
Like I said, it's just my opinion. There is no right or wrong here. We get different opinions from different perspectives and backgrounds. Keep in mind my clinic has a very good freezing program, so there is little or no pressure to get them all in on the fresh cycle. The next transfer is just as good as this one.toobee wrote:Ghost, I would never disagree with you normally...but on this I strongly do and feel the need to outwardly disagree.
I think the amount depends on your age, reasons for infertility, and your financial posistion. I think the broad brush stoke of 1-2 is kinda flimsy for woman over 35.
I come to respect your opinion greatly, and mean no disrespect to disagree once again, but your last comment leaves me to rebut once again..I have been on this thread a while now and have monitered other forums as well for quite some time...I realize your a professional and I am not ........but I have come to know allot of woman, epseiclaly those over 35 an some younger with various issues, all who transferred 3 5 days blasts and most have come up with one baby or twins...more often one baby and sadly sometimes none. These woman from what they said had decent quality blasts. I think there are to many persoanl variables that help make a decision of how many to put in.....I know that 1-2 good qulaity blasts is the norm an least risky for multiples..I would never advise more than three....but sometimes the norm doesnt apply to special cases......and I dont know all of Ginas info.......and in my case and special curumstances 3 made sense .....So I think Gina needs to weight her own situation against the statistics intead of purely relying on them.Ghost wrote:Like I said, it's just my opinion. The latest ASRM guidance statement is 1 blast for good prognosis, 2 blasts for poor prognosis. An older patient can justify "poor prognosis" based on age, but IMO that is another "broad brush" because some older patients produce great blasts. IMO, it should be based on the blast grade.
Still, if the patient does not mind twins, or even prefers them, I could see transferring two even with good prognosis. Three? No, not unless they were very poor.
It's no problem. It's not really even a disagreement.gina1234 wrote:i am sorry if i caused any problems on this board...i was just trying to find out if a 3dt was better than a 5dt, because we are doing a 5dt & putting back 2 embroys....so again i am sorry for any confusion...
