I have a cold

Post by Literatriz »

HI all,
I am so tired...sorry no personal today, except to wish Stefanie two restful weeks - stress and physical effort are dangerous! Hope your work is not as stressful during this time. Good luck!
As for me...I thought I was feeling some flurries at the beginning of this week. Then, DH and I got a horrible cold. I didn't go to work, felt miserable, coughed a lot...had a few mild contractions - and it may be my wild imagination but I think that the babies are quiet for two days.
Has anyone experienced that around 12-14 weeks?
Be well, everyone!

ME ME ME!!!!!! I swear I thought I was crazy. But at the begining of 13 weeks I could swear that I felt little butterflies after I ate my big meal of the day. I convinced my self that it was gas but then I spoke to the lady at the keepsake ultra sound clinic.

She told me to bring a large amount of sugary drink with me just in case they needed the babies to move (Sugar affects them very quickly).
That got me thinking, so one night after dinner I drank a 16oz Hawaiian punch and sat on the couch to see if I could feel anything and sure enough, about 10 minutes later I felt one flurry after another after another and just knew it was them!!

I cried for about 15 minutes and my husband laughed and held me the whole time.

As far as the crampiness, I kinda had that a little this week too. Enough that it freaked me out and I went I went to the doctor. Santino and Sophia are just fine. I'm thinking it was gas at this point and my husband swears that women go to the hospital thinking they're in labor and all it is is bad gas.

Has it gone away for the most part? Mine seems to have, thank God.

hey all -

sweetmomi - so glad someone else had a cvs. Mine were both vaginal but baby B was hard to reach. not comfy. good luck on the results and all your decisions.

I have a friend expecting twins who had bleeding around when I did. Her doc (who wrote a book on twins) mentioned that the uterus stretched but then there are two babies and it needs to stretch more and sometimes there is bleeding. I dunno, but It was interesting because the day after that episode my belly was out. My sister who is a midwife said I look like I'm at 16 weeks. who knows?

My week on the sofa was nice. now I am back to DC to give birth to my other baby - I have a play going up. so i will make it as stress free as possible, but it's a big week w/ the tech and previews and opening. hopefully it will be good. DH is driving me down this time.

That is great that you did that. Thanks. However, we have established that the end date will be no later than the 25th of November. We have a planned c section either the 24th or the 25th. We are very excited to see an end date in sight.

No you don't need to change it. I just wanted to let everyone know that we had a definite date now. Thanks

Hi ladies, things are going well with the twins. My gc got her cervix measured again today and a miracle happened! It grew in the last 2 weeks from 4.7cm to 5.8cm. CRAZY!! It was nice to hear. My gc is getting more and more tired. I feel so sorry for her, she is all tummy. It looks like she swallowed a watermelon.

Wow Silver thanks! That must have taken quite awhile. The ticker you made for me is right on! I cant believe there are two sets of trips on our board. That's so exciting!

Stefanie-Glad your week on the sofa was nice! Hopefully you got to read a good book or watch some good movies! Good luck with your play too!!

Literatriz & Silver-My gc thought she started feeling "butterflies" right around 13-14 weeks. I thought she was crazy and that it was too early, but I hear it starts early a lot with multiples. My gc started getting braxton hicks very early too, which I hear can be common with multiples as well. I think she felt her first one around 16 weeks. Now she's 22 weeks and feels them randomly.

Sweetmomi-Are you considering reduction because of the limited space in your belly? I'm sorry you are having to worry about that. I cannot imagine. However, I'm glad you four are doing well.

Crogers-Yes, they do measure by ultrasound. They can tell if it is shortening and if you are in danger of preterm labor. It's a comfort thing for me. I like hearing that everything is still looking good. Did you get yours measured?

Silverangel-My husband and I have tried to get a ticker for my signature, but for some reason this site won't let us put one up. I'm able to do it on other sites. It's very strange.........

Carisa: It's easy. Just go to lilypie and copy and paste the text code from the first [img] to the other [img] ONLY. Any text before or after that will not register. If you do that. you shouldn't have a problem. Good luck.

on priorities and practicalities

Post by Literatriz »

Hi ladies,
Long time no reading you...missed the fun! I am feeling much better after loosing 3 pounds due to a cold. Ended up at the hospital and they found out that my babies were quiet because...I has dehidrated. I am drinking as much water and eating as much as I can now. They are moving again! Thank you all who shared that they flurries were not my imagination.
Carisa, nice cervix! you must be thrilled with the whole thing. My friend in Brazil adopted a baby and she breastfed...what is the bad side of the medication to induce milk production? I am kind of fanatic for breastfeeding, so don't get me wrong here :) just a thought. And thanks for the maternity belt idea!
SilverAngel, thanks for putting us all together, lined up for the big moment! You are the technosavvy here...I've tried to watch the video but it said sintax error. Can you troubleshoot it for me please? I had my first yoga class this week and the breathing is more or less the same, with one option: you move your larinx in a way that the air passage opens up and makes a noise, almost a snore. It feels good. The way I breathe is: inhale for 2 seconds; hold for 4 seconds; exhale for 6 to 8 seconds. I do that 15 times. I need to have my normal heartbeat to get started (not immediately after changing positions). To count seconds, I say in my mind, "one thousand, two thousand... and so on.
Using a LOT of pillows and sleeping almost reclined helps a bit. I still wake up for peeing at least one at night - a nice preview of what is coming up after they are here! I drink less water after 7 pm too.
Sweemomi, I could not forget my triplet buddy! Wow, the CVS must have been a stressful thing for you. Got results? Reduction is a very difficult decison. PM me if you want to talk about it; there are good resources online especially on the canadian multiple birth association. Have you joined any multiples support group and/or read any specific books? I am reading two that are really good - does any one have good referrals?
Crogers, please please consider breastfeeding with love. Breastfed babies have much less infections (even preemies who got only pumped mommy's milk, no contact with mom) and better performance on cognitive tests at preschool age. There is a lot of marketing money involved in pushing for formula - and doctors and nurses are not immune to the seductive power of these corporations. Do not give up - don't "complement" with formula unless your lactation specialist OKs it. This initial "complement" may reduce the baby's motivation to work on our milk ducts. We may pump for a while to get things going in the beginning!
Stefanie, I was SO worried about you! I do remember another conversation we had about stress/work/pregnancies. A pregnancy with multiples will ask a lot more of us, working mothers, in terms of setting priorities straight. Projects come and go - successful IVFs are hard-earned priviledges. Hope your babies are doing fine and you will keep the bleeding episode in your heart so you don't go back to the "old normal"mode. Not even an Oscar would bring your babies back if something happens... I am slowing down drastically - not easy but it is what a child asks for and deserves to get.
I wish you all a restful, peaceful weekend!

Literatriz-
Thanks for the advice. Actually my gc is a friend of mine and she has offerend to pump for me for quite awhile if I would like her to, and I think I may take her up on that. I didn't want to be a bother, but she insists, so I'm quite happy with that idea! Glad you were able to get your little ones moving again. Good job mama.

Literatriz- Sorry I gave the wrong idea that I wasn't going to breastfeed. I am going to do everything in my power to do it. I know it is so good for them and since I was a little girl I have dreamed of breastfeeding. (may sound weird but oh well) I think I was just trying to say that sometimes people can't and I don't want them to feel like they are not being good parents.
