Midwife "Tall Stories"

Post by Nikola »

Excuse the pun, but my midwife said today that there is a saying that the taller you are the longer the length of your pregnancy......so all you tall ladies be prepared to go the distance.........

Something to do with the length of body being bigger provides more room for the baby to grown and until it starts to feel squashed it doesn't attempt to leave!!!

Bit of nonsense for a cold, wet february morning........

Hi Nikola,

I don't think that my family meet your midwife's criteria. My sister and I are both only average height - 5'6" - but she got to her due date with her first pregnancy and I never went into labour with mine (had elective casearean at 39 weeks). And my Mum was only 5'4" but I was 2 weeks late, my sister was 1 week late and my twin brothers arrived the day after their due date.

So how tall are you, pregnancy length-wise?!

I didnt say it was bloody true - I just thought a bit a silly humour might not go amiss!!!!!!

I'm only 5ft6 and I dont' think these babies will stilll be tucked up at 40wks!

I feel like I could give birth today - I must be in need of rest. Going for a snooze.........zzzzzzzzz!

 where do people get these stories from?

I'm 5'2" and I was induced after 1 week. Mind you, I was 3 weeks early and my mum is 4'11"!!
