headaches come and go - I just bear them and ignore them.

I think I am happier than dad about the boys. Honestly we didn't care, but if it was going to be 2 of the same I wanted boys. I come from a family of 5 girls and 1 boy and have 6 nieces and only 2 nephews, so boys are exciting to me and I find them so dear when they are little. DH was one of 4 boys so a girl would have been new to him.

I just remember the teenage years in a house of 5 girls! LOL.

But honestly, after two years of heartache, we didn't really care. no set names, and we will keep that private until birth. we have only one name we are both sure will stick.

Congrats on all the great results! Yayay! I hope to join ya'll on Monday! Quick question...I gave my blood last week and next Monday they do the US for the genetic screening. How long did it take for ya'll to get your results back? I guess I was thinking it would be that day since my blood work will be complete...I'll be disappointed if not.

Today I spent a few hours at my SIL's house hanging out and practicing my diapering and feeding skills on my nephew. He is cute as can be at 5 weeks! Although I need to remember NOT to wear a nice shirt since he does like to drool ;)

Hope everyone has a good rest of the week!

Morning ladies!

How are you doing?

Okay, quick note!

Stefanie!
Sorry if my inquiry about baby names offended you. Good luck on your ultrasound today! :)

Stacy,
I got my results the next day. But some clinics take much longer. My friend's clinic gave the results after two weeks, because they don't analyse the blood on site; they send it elsewhere. I really hope you'll get the results on the day of your ultrasound. But if you don't, you'll see, the ultrasound itself can be really reassuring. If you see a nice nasal bone and the nuchal thickness is below 3mms, then your risks for Down Syndrome are low. Same if you see the baby's fingers move gracefully. I've been told that there are two schools of thought; some trust the blood tests more, and some trust the ultrasound. We'll have both, so we're in business anyway! :D

Take care ladies!

Hey Sophie, thanks for the info. I assume I will get my results on Monday then. I had my blood draw last week at a lab that will analyze it and get it to my OB for my appointment on Monday. I'll be so happy to see an US after 4 weeks of not having one.

Sophie, no doctor has actually ever complained about my weight. I have low cholesterol and blood pressure and am tall so it's not like I'm obese. I get plenty of exercise and eat pretty healthy so neither I or my baby are at any health risk. Trying to lose weight while pregnant is not the right thing for me. I can manage how much I gain and deal with it afterwards.

Actually it's the French that the British don't like so you get it by association. Didn't realize that about Belgians - I'll have to ask a Belgian friend of mine if she's dealt with it. Probably not here in the US - I think most Americans don't even know where Belgium is.

Stefanie - congrats on the boys! They will be tons of fun. I have allergies too but they've been mostly manageable. I did take a Zyrtec on the couple of days they became unbearable because my doctor OK'ed it.

Stacy - good luck on Monday. I'm trying to get that test scheduled myself with my OB.

Cheers,
Amy

PMYpsych - not offended at all. I was probably short in that I was tired when I was writing. We're just waiting with the names, so people don't make comments. After they are born, people don't weigh in on what they think.

SMiles - We know the sex because we did a CVS which is like an amnio but done at 10-12 weeks. They take samples of the genetic material from the placenta (instead of amniotic fluid). It has a Higher miscarriage danger, but in NYC we went to one of the best guys who does them. For many reasons, we wanted to get early results. We also had a nuchal scan while we were there. Anyway, we went in to test for some genetic disorders and also got to learn the sex in the process. Most people do an amnio or wait until they can see the sex in the ultrasound.

we told family yesterday which was fun. so many offers for cribs and clothes and strollers. It's so nice knowing we don't have to buy everything.

Hey! Great news! My US and genetic testing went really well! My chance for Down Syndrome and Trisomy 18/13 is the same as a 20 year old...woohooo! The US was very cool since the little guy looks so much more like a baby....the tech tried to get him to move around a bit, but he was content sleeping. Hopefully a sign of a good sleeping baby to come!

So I'm very happy and it dawned on me...I'm having a baby :)

Hope everyone is doing well!

Morning ladies!

Stacy,
CONGRATULATIONS sweetie, you're going to be a mommy!!! :D:D:D It really dawns on you again, doesn't it, when you see that nicely formed little human being inside you! I'm really happy that you had a great experience and that your results were satisfying! Wow, 20 years old, you sexy sexy mama! If only we could have the FIGURE of a 20 years old after we give birth, that would be lovely! But oh, Stacy, Stacy... here I am, freaking out again after reading your post!!! My best friend's baby was asleep the whole time too during the prenatest ultrasound... and when I saw mine doing backflips all the time, I though, "boy, am I going to run after this one...!" Ah, well! ;) I'll welcome that little bugger into my life all the same! :D

Amy,
How are you doing dear? Did you have a nice weekend? About your comment; like I said hunny, if your doctor doesn't make comments, it mean there's no reason to worry! I never suggested that you were obese by the way, I hope there isn't any misunderstanding; being 20 pounds overweight is not the end of the world! Geez, when I stopped the pill years ago, I was probably around 30 pounds overweight and I lost it all with common sense dieting and moderate exercising. If you feel that you can deal with it after your little treasure is born, then it's the right choice for you! I was just sharing other options with you in case it would trigger your interest and because I know how good it made me feel when my weight dropped slightly to the "expected" level last week. But it's a very personal choice, and I really don't judge anyone on it! ;)

Stefanie,
I'm happy that the announcement went well with your family! Hehehe mine seems interested to help us financially too, but I don't know what they'll contribute to. I think I'll make a baby's list to help the process. The only thing is, you have to stick to one store and it's a tough choice. You are so right about the names hun, I see what you mean. A friend of mine likes very old-fashioned names, like Albertine, for their daughter. People around them apparently make all kinds of inappropriate comments. Geez, it's not like they want to name her "spatula" or something. LOL, since I've seen "Vercingetorix" on a list of boy's names, I keep telling people it's our other choice besides Nathan. ;) Seriously, not only can it be the best choice when you wait after the birth, but it also allows you to interact with the baby for a few days, see what name fits the best, and then make official introductions to the family. I find it's a very good idea indeed!

To all the others, I hope you're doing well. I'm having fun today shopping around for baby stuff... a good friend and colleague of mine advised us to get the Chariot stroller even if it's pricey. I've read tons of reviews, and people all seem to agree that you really, really get your money's worth. I talked to DH about it and he suggested that we check on a second hand website to see if we couldn't get it at a lower price. It's not a bad idea. Fabricville is having a HUGE sale for all window treatments. So this weekend, my best friend and I will go there and shop for curtains... she wants to buy curtains for her office and possibly the baby's room. And I want to shop for nice THICK winter curtains for the living room (we have a cold draft coming from the windows and I'm always FREEZING in the evening) and of course the curtains for the baby's room. Plus I have the privilege card, so I get a super price. L'Oreal warehouse is also having a huge sale and we have tickets (thanks to my husband's colleague!!!) so we'll go there. There are huge lineups, but it's great to stock up on shampoo and make up.

Okay, enough babbling! Time to figure out that baby's room. My husband agrees with me and we'll follow Tracy Hogg's advice (Secrets of a Baby Whisperer); we want to have the room ready when I reach the third trimester. That way, if baby comes early, or if I'm put on bed rest, we won't have to rely on other people to pick up baby's stuff and prepare the room for us. For now, no rush whatsoever of course. Thing is, if I want to use that sale and just pick the curtains for now, I still have to plan the whole design for the room... and it's not easy!!!

Take care ladies!

Hello.

My scan was good. They call it twin 1 and twin 2 depending on their location. First one to measure was the twin 2 as it was in good position. The twin 1 took some time because he/she was on awkward position and the nurse couldn't do the measurement. She tried to shake it few times but the little one was stubborn. After few tries she could do the measurements. They are both more or less 6.5.

After the scan i told my MIL and my mum that now is official. Now they can spread the word to everybody they want.
And then the phone calls started all day long....and all night long....
....and then people were ringing to congratulate us. It was such a good feeling. You could tell that people whom we rang were genuine happy for us. Of course we didn't tell anybody that it is IVF pregnancy. Only my in-laws and my parents know about it. No need for the world to know it.

Next appointment is on 9th December and scan on 14 Jan/09.

Meanwhile i have booked my mini holidays to Lisbon (Portugal) to go and see my parents and rest of the family & friends.
Will be going on 15 and coming back on 5th. Can't wait!!!!

This sunday is booked for some shopping. Need to buy new cloths as none fit me any more :(
Been surviving on just 2 pairs of jeans whether is for work or to go out!

Luv to all,
Anie

Dear Anie,

I'm really happy that your ultrasound went well! It must have been so nice to see your babies again! :) Did the measurements change your due date? If it's the case, just tell me and I'll change the list.

I'm really happy that friends and relatives literally showered you with calls of happiness, excitement and love. :D This is quite an accomplishment, and such good news indeed!

I hope DH is doing well and that he's enjoying the positive drama as well! It must have been special for him too to see those babies!

See you soon I hope, and have fun in Lisbon, you lucky girl!!!
