Hello lovely November (and October!) mommies!
I just wanted to drop by and let you know that I think of you. There will be lots of exciting posts in the coming weeks, and I'll read them for sure!
Emma, CONGRATULATIONS on your beautiful, beautiful family! Those boys look like troublemakers, hehe, they are so handsome and full of life! And your little girl seems quiet, very cool with all that action going on around her! What a lovely little flower! I'm thrilled for you dear.
As for the other ladies, I hope the next few weeks will fly by and that you'll soon hold your babies against your heart! Given that there are a couple of planned c-sections here, I'll just go ahead and give a little advice, if you don't mind. It was really appreciated on another thread, so I thought I'd copy it here, just in case no one explained that to you.
I've never had a "baby" C-section, but I've had the same incision twice for abdominal surgeries. Get up and move as soon as you can, even if you feel dizzy and tired. After my first surgery, they waited 24h to make me get up for the first time, and after the second, they made me get up some 6 hours later. I can tell you, I recovered MUCH more quickly the second time. I was equally dizzy the two times afterwards, but it lasted longer the first time. You won't be allowed to shower for a few days, but do walk around as much as you can.
The other good advice I can give you is to learn the proper way to get out of bed. (roll on the side, bring your knees up in semi-fetal position, let your feet dangle off the mattress, lean on your elbow and use your other hand and the weight of your legs to push yourself up in a sitting position). That way, you'll use your abs very little and it won't pull on your surgery wound. The first two weeks are difficult; you'll have trouble turning in bed and getting up (those bars on each side of a hospital bed really help, but you have nothing else than your DH to cling to when you're back home!!). There's just no way you'll just get up from lying on your back or just roll and get up. The second time I had surgery, I learned it properly and it made my life easier when I came back home.
My two cents! Take care, and have a speedy delivery!
Sophie
