Hello lovely November (and October!) mommies!

I just wanted to drop by and let you know that I think of you. There will be lots of exciting posts in the coming weeks, and I'll read them for sure!

Emma, CONGRATULATIONS on your beautiful, beautiful family! Those boys look like troublemakers, hehe, they are so handsome and full of life! And your little girl seems quiet, very cool with all that action going on around her! What a lovely little flower! I'm thrilled for you dear.

As for the other ladies, I hope the next few weeks will fly by and that you'll soon hold your babies against your heart! Given that there are a couple of planned c-sections here, I'll just go ahead and give a little advice, if you don't mind. It was really appreciated on another thread, so I thought I'd copy it here, just in case no one explained that to you.

I've never had a "baby" C-section, but I've had the same incision twice for abdominal surgeries. Get up and move as soon as you can, even if you feel dizzy and tired. After my first surgery, they waited 24h to make me get up for the first time, and after the second, they made me get up some 6 hours later. I can tell you, I recovered MUCH more quickly the second time. I was equally dizzy the two times afterwards, but it lasted longer the first time. You won't be allowed to shower for a few days, but do walk around as much as you can.

The other good advice I can give you is to learn the proper way to get out of bed. (roll on the side, bring your knees up in semi-fetal position, let your feet dangle off the mattress, lean on your elbow and use your other hand and the weight of your legs to push yourself up in a sitting position). That way, you'll use your abs very little and it won't pull on your surgery wound. The first two weeks are difficult; you'll have trouble turning in bed and getting up (those bars on each side of a hospital bed really help, but you have nothing else than your DH to cling to when you're back home!!). There's just no way you'll just get up from lying on your back or just roll and get up. The second time I had surgery, I learned it properly and it made my life easier when I came back home.

My two cents! Take care, and have a speedy delivery! :)

Em - What a beautiful family. As Sophie said, the boys look like a handful (but a really cute handful). Little Addison is beautiful. I hope things are going smoothly for you (I can't imagine life with twins and a newborn -- you are my hero!!)

Sophie - Thanks for the advice. I had read that getting up and walking the day of surgery is a good idea. My cousin-in-law had a c-section and the nurses didn't get her out of bed until day 3! I hope you're doing well and that your pregnancy is going well.

All my best to all the new mommies out there!

Lynn

Em, congratulations for that beautiful family! Let me tell you, you are my hero too!!! I am sooo tired with my twins I just can not imagine how you do it
I am beginning to get a routine, it has been really hard but DH and I have found a way to sleep a little bit more, instead of both getting up every 3 hours, I go to sleep around 8:30 after feeding them, then DH feeds both of them at 10:30 or 11:00, so I can sleep around 6 hours, then I feed both of them at 2:30 so DH can sleep 6 hours straight too...
Good luck to all mommies soon to be... keep us posted...

Hi Guys,

Thank you for your praise - not sure I deserve it as I do have my cranky moments. My words of advise on having a c-s (or any delivery for that matter) is pack in your cosmetics bag a beautiful new bottle of body wash, face wash and mosituriser, get a shampoo and conditioner too. Treat yourself to a set that is expensive and indulgent and has the most invigorating fragrance. Don't use it until your first shower after you have your baby and I promise you, it will be the best shower of your life! Having a baby is messy, smelly and uncomfortable and the first shower you have afterwards is fabulous.

My second advise is to you having twins - we got the boys into a routine early on where they fed at 11pm, 3am and then 7am. We had evrything we needed at our bedisde and when one woke, we got both up, changed them and fed them and put them back into bed without talking to them. We used only a very dim lamp so we could just see. We had it down pat that both were fed and asleep again within half an hour. It is important to keep stimulation to a minimum so they know that its night and its time for sleep. Both boys started sleeping through from 10 weeks.

We have got Addy into the same routine, but this time, as there is only one bub, I do the feedind and then DH gets up to the boys in the morning letting me have a little extra sleep. We are getting 8 hours sleep with just a half hour interuption in the middle.

Best of luck for your upcoming deliveries!

Just a note to let everyone know that Laila Rose arrived on Tuesday -- 8 lbs, 4 ounces, 20.5 inches. She is such a joy and a blessing!!!

Thanks to everyone for their support over the last nine months.

I hope everyone else is doing well and not losing too much sleep . This will be our first night home and Laila has slept nearly all day long (I had to wake her twice to feed). We're in for a long night!!!
