Good morning ladies, Haven't checked in in a while so I just wanted to come on and share the little scare we had yesterday and see if any of you ladies are having the samething at this point.
For the last few weeks I've been waking up kinda damp down there if you get what I mean. (Sorry for the TMI)
Not wet but just a little damp to the point that I thought that maybe my bladder was weakening and I just peed myself a little in the night.
I shrugged it off to pregnancy woes and didn't pay much attention to it, but then during the last 3 or 4 days I noticed that it was happening during the day too.
Everytime I would go to the bathroom my panties where a little wetter and a little wetter until by the end of the day I was as damp as I was in the mornings.
I tried to see if it was the weak bladder I had blamed but then I noticed that it happened even when I didn't have to pee, so now I started thinking could I be leaking amniotic fluid? And (stupid me) looked in "What to expect when your expecting"
It listed the leakage of clear fluid and a heaviness in the pelvic floor (Which I had been feeling slightly and chalked it up to growing pains) as signs of preterm labor and that I should call my doctor immediatly.
After what happened to our poor Sweetmomi I wasn't taking any chances and went straight to the Dr's. office.
He gave me a full pelvic exam and a sono. He said that my cervix was long and closed and said that the babies had plenty of fluid around them. But he also said that I had a yeast infection that honestly, I was completely clueless to. No itching or burning or anything that comes along with a normal yeast infection. He couldn't find anything else wrong so we said that that was the culprit. He gave me some medication to and said that if it's not the infection then it's just hormone changes that's causing the fluid.
Has anyone else had anything like this happen? Something as common as a yeast infection that we would recognize in a heart beat going unnoticed during this crazy time with our bodies?

on peeing

Post by Literatriz »

Hi,
I don't think I've had the same experience with peeing...what happened with me was that my bladder for some reason needed some "extra movements" to emply completely. So, I peed, then when I went to wash my hands I noticed that I still needed to go for a bit more.
Maybe your babies are pressuring your bladder in a way that prevents it from emptying completely. Combine that with a little "nubness" of the sfinceters...you have a damp underwear.
If you are doing what the doctors said, you are having to deal with a LOT more of urine...I am drinking maybe 7 glasses of water per day and believe me, there are moments I need to run to the bathroom. If I sneeze...well, there we go!
Hope you feel better. The good thing is, the cervix is sealed and the babies are swimming in a nice pool of amniotic fluid
Wish every one else is doing fine! I am dealing with yeast infection - again. DH and I tried a bit of intimacy with hilarious consequences: the next day he was in a very bad shape! :)
Be well, Literatriz

I don't know, I've finished the pills the dr. gave me and I think the infecton is gone. Hard to tell when I never knew I had it in the first place, but the liquid is still there. Tommor's my level 2 ultra sound and the doctor ordered a cervical evaluation as well, so I guess tomorrow we'll know for sure if there is enough fluid around the babies and that my cervix is doing what it should. I'm so excited but so nervous at the same time. I'll post the results tomorrow. Every one keep your fingers crossed for me and the little ones.

Well everyone, I had my level 2 ultrasound today and it was great. Both the babies are just fine and we even got a little surprise.
We went for an early gender determination at 13 weeks and were told with 85% accuracy that we where having a boy and a girl. But today, there was no mistaking it, we're having two baby boys!!

Yeah congrats Silver - Welcome to the twin boy club. I too am having boy's. It was a shock at first I mean the norm is b/g or even g/g I was told the b/b is very uncommon. But it seems that there are a few of us out there.

I am 27 weeks today and my feet are swollen. Any one else having this problem? I guess my body just cant handle the extra weight but it sucks.

Well congrats again.

Congrats silver.

Genne, watch the swelling and your blood pressure. Preclampsia will sneak up on you. I went all the way to 33 weeks and 6 days no signs of preclampsia, except major swelling and I happened to check my bp one night and it was through the roof and they took the babies the next morning. Keep track of it. It is scary how fast it can sneak up onyou.

Gennessa my feet are swelling too. If I stay off of them then they don't really swell but if I am up doing a lot then they get pretty puffy. My bp has been good when they check it so I am hoping this is all that happens during the pregnancy.

I had my baby shower last weekend and it was beautiful. I cried when I walked in. We got all our big things we registered for and that was nice. We have another shower Dec. 6th and I can't for that one either. I now have a project of putting everything up where it goes. Glad everyone else that has had a shower had a good one. We are all getting close and that is soooo awesome!!!

SilverAngel679- it's like we're living parallel pregnancy lives... our 20 week US was scheduled for next week, putting me exactly at 19 weeks and 2 days, unfortunately it has been moved to 12.5. They told us that one is a boy ands the other is 85% a girl, but I had a dream the other night that it was two boys, too... gee, I wonder...

I haven't really been that active on the boards lately... Not much new with me other than getting very big! I am 19 weeks on Monday and I have my two week OB appt., so I get to see my Angels move, etc. I feel so great and it kind of freaks me out b/c I have no growing pains right now or any indication that all is moving along. I LIVE for my OB appts. Anyway, that's it for me. Have a great weekend!

Hi ladies...sorry to crash the thread..i use to be on this regularly and know some of you..i'm on march babies too..but just wanted to thank Silverangel for thinking of me and adding me to the list...seems like we're pretty close in date too!

congrats to everyone - seems like we're all finding the sexes - mine are 2 little girls!! We've painted our nursey peach and the put a nice butterfly border across the top.

Quick question to you: do you all have a peri or maternal/fetal med doc - he's going to start seeing me every 3 weeks to check the cervix and u/s...is that frequency required? i also worry about the dampness and slight pressure in the pelvis usually before and during peeing...but i just had the cervical check last week...

silverangel: hope the infection is gone, and you can relax a bit about the dampness...it seems like its a common thing :) - i liked your website...its really a cool idea.

Happy Thanksgiving to all!

Baby, I saw the peritonalogist/high risk doc for cervix check and us every 4 weeks. I wish it could have been 3. But yes it is normal. Also, the pressure you are feeling may actually be braxton hicks. I used to get those when my bladder was full. The dampness is most likely just cervical discharge. I had a lot of it during my pregnancy. If it becomes thin liquid and had a sweet smell to it, then you worry about amniotic fluid.
