do and don'ts

Post by hoping77 »

Hi! I was implanted on this past Saturday. I totally get how you don't know what to do. From what I have been reading, don't do anything you may regret if you dont get pregnant.

OK i have read about the no chocolate thing. Chocolate can affect your absorption of calcium, so some is ok but don't go overboard :P
I bet there are a few sighs of relief about now

Wow this thread is interesting and i can't believe some of the things doctors tell us! My clinic is very laid back ie, take it easy on the day of transfer but then back to normal. I personally would not have intercourse because I am frightened that the orgasm contractions may cause some harm but I know lots of people that have carried on . I think it also depends on wether you are high risk ie, suffered a few miscarriages etc (which i had years ago)

There are of course common sense things like alchol intake, no heavy lifting and hot tubs etc but otherwise we are i the same boat as everyone else who conceives naturally. Unfortunately we are just aware of the whole process going on inside our bodies and that makes us more concious of it all. Also it is an extremely precious possible pregnancy!

I had a successful 2nd IVF attempt in 2004 and am currently hoping for a sibling for my little boy (ET transfer tomorrow) and i can honestly say i have carried on as normal. I am more worried about staying stress free (as possible)than anything else. I really think (as someone else said) it is a case of what you yourself feel is right and if that means staying in bed for days etc , then follow your heart.

Good luck to you all

No cold food & drinks + stay relaxed and inactive in 2ww

Post by SASA »

I believe that these 2 are important.
1.Stay away from cold food and drinks (except fruit) if you want to get pregnant.
2. Stay relaxed and inactive in 2ww after ET.

Chinese traditional medicine believes that eating and drinking cold stuff makes the uterus cold and thus reduce the chance the embryo attaches to the uterus. Believe it or not?
I believe it.

My clinic always told me there is no research to support that moving less would lead to a higher success rate. They alway told me that a relaxed and happy mood statistically predicts better chance.
There is no harm to reduce the activity level for at least the first 7 days after transfer. I did so everytime except the first time. May be I am such a lazy person I feel most relaxed sitting or laying down reading or watching TV or videos.
I went hiking for 3-4 hours about 10 days after the first ET. The result was BFN. I blamed the hiking. So I kept inactive after all the other 3 ETs. I did get back to work after 4 days after ET and played with my daughter after the 3rd and 4th ET. I refrained from vigorous movements.
I still believe that staying inactive in 2ww did matter.
Even after one is pregnant, most people, like me, need a lot of rest in the first trimester. My sister and my friend saved their foetus by bed rest in the first few weeks of their pregnancy.

Just want to share my experience and wish that more people will get want they want.
Wish you success!

Hello ladies,

I know it's been a long while since someone commented on this forum, but I'm fairly new to this website so looking at past posts for more info and support.

I've had ET today with 1 blastocyst embie! This is our 4th IVF/ICSI cycle.

At my unit they say at ET to rest for the rest of the day and for a few days afterwards, no strenous exercise and no unprotected sex. That's about it really!

I didn't realise there were so many dos and don'ts for the 2ww! Me and DH did attempt sex on our 3rd cycle but I couldn't relax and was constantly worried what damage it was doing so we didn't bother to try anymore!

I suppose we are all PUPO during the 2ww and should treat ourselves as though we are pregnant and following the recommendations they suggest!

Luckily I'm not a bit chocoholic! :D

Thanks for all the posts on here - it's been very helpful!

DH and I are TTC this cycle...just got my AF so let the games begin! :)

Our beautiful 4 year old son Eli was IVF...we couldn't be happier but we want a baby to complete our little family. We have really been struggling for the past few months. One of my girlfriends is 7 months along now after being told she was completely infertile...she swears by this mix of chinese herbs and other natural remedies. I just ordered a batch and am gonna give it a shot...why not, right? Lol...best of luck to all you ladies TTC out there. (hugs)
My husband and I were TTC for over 2 years until I found this guide on herbal remedies. It sorted out the B.S. from the real info. I followed this thing to the letter, and a year after I read the book, I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl!

I've just started talking to a dr about IVF and I asked about these restrictions. She said that you should basically treat your body as if you were pregnant. So if you would do it pregnant, you can do it now. However, I see what everyone is saying. This waiting is already so incredibly hard, you don't want to risk doing anything to hurt it.

Hello ladies!

I am new to this forum and wasn't sure where to post this question. It seems as if this thread is not so active recently but I am hoping there will be some reply to my post.

I am considering treatment abroad (lower cost is the main reason) but my journey back would involve two plane changes and a total time of 15-17 hours. After reading many of your posts I am really worried that I am doing the right thing. Does anyone have any advice or has anyone travelled far for treatment and been successful?

Any help is greatly appreciated and wishing you all the best! Thank you!

Hello Zahara,

I haven't read much in this thread, but I know there is a lot of different opinions about what to do and what not to do. It can be overwhelming! My DH and I almost went abroad as well.. we were looking at Israel, which would have been a very long flight...where are you going? I wouldn't worry--I assume you won't be traveling the day right after ET, right? I travelled, although not as far as it sounds that you are. I went to California for my treatment--and I live in the Southeast. I did 2 days of bed rest and then flew back. I was careful about not lifting anything heavy, and staying hydrated, but otherwise traveled without worry. My RE said travel was fine. And you can see from my ticker below that it all worked out splendidly for us! Best of luck to you!!! And if you have any other questions feel free to PM me.
