kke~ Congrats to you and dh!!! You are so blessed and in the right place to get all the good dirt! I know there is a double trouble thread where everyone is pg but I loved this one while pg because I was asking people who had already been there and done that. It was very helpful. As for moring sickness, I never ever had it at all. Luckily I didn't really have any symptoms and felt fabulous the entire time. I delivered 6 weeks early so I only gained 28 lbs as well. For me, I think I was 5 or 6 months before I had gained 5 lbs. It was so hard and I was eating like a horse! I am pg right now as well but this time the weight LOVES me!!!! Not so lucky in that department on this round but equally blessed. Good luck and feel free to ask us anything and everything!

Sugar~ I'm a cold turkey girl! We went from pack-n-play to crib in one night after a couple days of napping in their room. Perhaps start that way for a few days. Naps in the crib, a few nights in the car seat, then BAM! My theory was this on the waking each other up. . . they have to share a room for a few years. . . get use to it! Am I a mean mommy or what?? It jsut worked for so I wasn't forced to look at other options. I always have the pack-n-play set up in the office in case I ever need it for my little man who is the one to get up early. He thinks 5:30 is a great time to get up but unfortunately it's 6:30-7:00 here before you can escape! Also, I don't know about your house but our living room magnified the cryiing noise the one and only night I ever tried it when we first came home. It was soo loud!!!! I was surprised too because there isn't an echo in the day but at night with everything all peacful it was rediculous!
You can leave the wedge above the sheet also. It will help with them not sliding down. The flannel material kind of grabs them. My babies slept flat on their back but I tried the wedge with Annelise when she had her bout of spitting up. The things we have for under the babies head are about 1"X 3" and they are cotton on top with a waterproof backing. You can buy them anywhere they sale baby items. I'll try find the name of them for you. I also use to just fold in half receiving blankets under her head to sleep on. Worked for me.
For sleeping, I would just put a pacifier in if they cried after a certain hour and they caught on really quick. If you give them nothing to wake up to they catch on fast! Diane had some really great tips if you ever see her on here again because she just forced her twins into the routine as well. It worked for her early too. Kim's babies were also great at sleeping thru the night early. Mine took a few weeks longer but went straight to 10-12 hours a night. YEAH!!!

Kim~ We are lucky to have so many free things here for sure. We have a science center here too and it's toddler week this next few weeks so yeah for us. Dumb question but what does kwim mean? HAd to ask!
As for story hour. . . mine NEVER sit the entire time. Rarely do they do that. I am usually locating one while the other runs off BUT they do love it. I just do what I have to to get them out and I figure other mothers will understand. Last week one of the books was a touch and feel book so my children thought every book was the same and ran up to feel every page of every book. What a patient woman she was! :D Boise is known for being fabulously family friendly. Lucky us!

Today was a downer for myself. Car is in the shop. . .VERY expensive to fix!!!!! I want to cry because my warranty won't cover much of it and I haven't worked in 17 months. I just hate to pile up bills for dh! Although DH could be sold on e-bay this week for any resonable offer. Just one of those weeks where nothing is seeming to go your way! Thank goodness for silly babies to make me laugh!
I have my NST test tomorrow. Hopefully they can see what I am having. Wishful thinking but it would be a nice cake topper to my week. I'll report my massive weight gain and new finding tomorrow!

Have a great night everyone!

KKE--Congrats! You will love it here. If you go back to some of our earlier posts, you will see what we discovered in our early days! Might be helpful to you...I DID have morning sickness. Started around week 7 and didn't end until week 16. I never actually got sick, but I was nauseaus all day long. The only thing that helped was if I constantly sucked on mints or if I nibbled on pretzels. Unlike the other gals, I did put on weight--about 45 pounds. I went nearly 37 weeks. I gained weight early (due to all the hormones and pretzel eating!) Then, I steadied out during most of the preganancy. Towards the end, I packed a little more on...but it was hot out! Ice cream was my vice!

Suga--I agree with kholtan. Just rip that band-aid off girl! Yes, you'll have a few nights that will be hard, but it will be better in the long run. You never know, the girls might not wake each other up. Sometimes one of my kiddos sleeps through the other ones' screaming! The sheet protectors I mentioned have rubber backing, but they are cloth on the top. Try kholtan's first....they sound smaller and easier to wash. Mine protect the whole crib--which you may not need yet. As for the feedings, I would definitely do the 10 pm feed. Then try the pacifier trick at 3. If it doesn't work, you can try a SMALL feed. Maybe just a couple of ounces? Then gradually wean that back....I'm just guessing though. I didn't have to deal with that. :?:

Kholtan---it's about time you gain weight! You skinny thing! Oh, kwim---means "know what I mean"! I'm going to check into our library's reading schedule and try to take the kids sometime over my winter break....we'll see how it goes! Sorry to hear about your car. I say sell your DH to buy a car!  Hope it gets fixed soon. I bet you'll be itching to get out with the kids!

Kim~  DH could be traded for a new car easlily!!! Just kidding! Just FYI, our favorite story hour is Barnes and Noble. They do the stories, then a craft, then a cookie and juice. My kids don't eat cookies or juice but I bring an appropriate snack for them so they don't feel left out. Also, I keep the local family web page on my favorites list and regularly check it to see what's going on. It give me great ideas that I would not have thought of. Most towns have a local family magazine even if it's small.

Today we have dh's truck. Gotta love packing twins into a jacked up HUGE Ford F-250 that is hard as ever to park anywhere!

Gotta go. Must get ready while they nap or I never will!

Hi Everyone!

Hardly no time to post here, busy from 5 am to 10 pm Monday through Friday!

KKE congratulations! This board will be a big help through out your pregnancy! Enjoy your pregnancy. It's so special to carry twins.

I have to put Aly for a nap and don't have much time.

Suga, I never sleep trained mine at night, they just slept through 3 am feeding one day. The hint was that they stopped taking a full bottle, so they were showing that they didn't need it anymore. I hope it happens soon for you. I know sleep is so precious. My baby girl still sleeps in the living room. I mean to move her in with her twin brother but they keep catching called and delaying the move. My daughter takes a medecine called Laparazone (sp?) Zantac didn't work and it's some kind of custom made compound medication. It's expensive but it works for her. I am trying to wean her from the med but I don't think she's ready yet.

Kholtan, I love reading up on your blog. I used to struggle with ideas on where to take kids. Summer is great but it rains a lot here in winter that all the indoor facility gets so packed. How is your pregnancy going? I bought a box of mini dounuts and it's almost gone. I gained only about 3 pounds so far, but I look pretty pregnant already. It's the case of stretched muscle. I am 19 weeks and cannot wait for the appt at the end of Dec to find out the sex. Let's not worry too much about gaining weight! I am thinking this is the only chance to not worry too much about calories.

Kim, how's your Lexus? It must be nice to be driving in a cozy luxury car like that! Awwwe, your kiddos are so cute dancing!! They really love that music, don't they? I can't wait for my twins to do a silly dance together like that. How fun!

Well, sounds like Noah's still up so I better go check on him.

Take care!

I keep waiting for them to drop their 3AM feed or just not eat a lot during the night but they still take the whole bottle which makes me think that they are not ready to stop that feed. You would think they would be though because they are both 12lbs but who knows. I have a friend whose baby (breastfed) did not sleep through the night till 11mo! I will not let them go that far! lol. She let her eat whenever she wanted to though and let her snack and such. I do not do that. You eat when I say you eat lol.

Part of me does not want to make them sleep in the crib till they are sleeping through the night because they will not spit up as much and Brooke will not have as bad reflux. I suppose I could try it a few nights to see how bad she is and if she is horrible I will put her back in the seat. Just depends I dunno.

Kholtan: I read your blog too. Always interesting to think of things I can do when they are older. Makes me excited for them to grow up but at the same time not because they will never be babies again!

Ok, tis I, sugabeanzs. I had LOTS of problems trying to log in and it not recognizing me or my password. So after many attempts I just re-registered! Sorry about the confusion!

First, Merry Christmas to all out there! I hope it is a good one for you! We are at my moms house this year and will be going to Nick's moms house for New years (we flip flop it each year). So tomorrow night we are opening presents with the girls so it does not interfere with their naps.

Also, I did it cold turkey as you suggested! They are in cribs now! Totally for everything! They acutally do great in them! Kenzie likes to roll around a lot and I usually find her at oposit ends and totally does 360. They are put up on the wedge but usually scoot down. At least they are on there for like 30 minutes to help with the reflux. So far only one spit up from Brooke so not too bad! I knew Brooke was ready when she kept scooting down out of her car seat and screaming about that! They were getting too big for that anyways! Also, they are eating 4-5 oz now!

Brooke sat up on her own for like 2 seconds! Too cute! Of course I had to put her in the position but she wobbled for a minute then held if for a short time! I got a picture of it too! She is trying to talk now....trying really hard!

Kenzie had her first belly laugh! Full on! I got it on video too! Too cute!

Brooke has been going to the chriopractor to try to get help with her stools and reflux. So far it has made her belly softer and she is pooping a little easier! I need to talk to her doctor about her stools because they are just hard pebbles and baby poop should not be that way! Her belly was as hard as a rock so I know something is going on. She is on Gentle Ease now and I need to tell the doc. I switched it. I still put like 1 oz of Enfacare in there for the minerals and vit. but her tummy was killing her! So she is a lot better on this formula.

Really that is about it at the moment! I hope you all are doing well!!!

Suga, yours are still on Enfacare? So are mine. Course mine are almost 2 months old, which would make them almost 3 weeks adjusted. He wants to keep them on for at least 3 months. They are gaining weight well. I just hope they change it soon because Enfamil has a generic form at Target with the exact same nutrients but almost half the money. They do pretty well. My daughter may need the Gentlease. Not for spitting up so much anymore, but I think she is gassy. I have been using the Little Tummies Gas med it usually helps her.

Oh also, did anyone ever use rice cereal in the formula and if you did when did you start? Again my doc said prob not until 3-4 months but I think it will help them sleep a little better. Now I have a few more pounds on mine before they hit the 12 pounds but they are eating 4 oz and sometimes, usually once a day they eat 5 oz. Occasionally they eat 3 oz. but usually 3.5 -4. They are starting to have 4-5 hours stretches at night once I can get them to sleep.

There is a gastric update on my babes. How is everyone else? I will try to get new pics on here soon.

Hi Suga! Glad the sleep change went well!

Steph--my kiddos were both VERY gassy. The gentlease formula did wonders for them. Also, at Wal Mart, they have a brand of gas drops by Equate....kind of like Mylicon drops....it was the best gas remedy I could find. Plus, much cheaper! I don't go to Wal Mart very often, but back then--I would go just for the drops and buy 5 or 6 boxes at a time..ha ha !

Hope you all have a good Christmas! My kids are getting sneakier at taking ornaments off the tree, but it's still standing! They've been helping me bake cookies (kind of!), and they made homemade dough ornaments...they had a blast doing that! They are making the holidays so much fun this year!

MErry Christmas everyone!

We aren't quite as eventful as everyone else with the food, gas and what not but we are having a good time and enjoying the holidays. The kids have been everywhere and done everything I could think of and I'll be so glad at the strike of midnight tomorrow! Then it's just weekends in the mountains and playing in the snow. YEAH!

Kim~ I tried the one finger technique. . .uh, not so much for mine! :D They don't really get that yet. They apply one finger with one hand and rip it off with the other. Luckily, the tree is under lock and key behind the baby gate in the room with the fireplace. I'm not the type of girl to put anything up from the kids but I just didn't have the energy to stop them from the tree. We literally haven't moved a thing in this house but now that they know how to turn the stereo on, and LOUD I may think about finding that a new home! If you guys want to see some holdiay pics just check out our little page. I have managed to actually keep it up which is a miracle. Thank goodness it's sooooooo easy!

Suga~ Sounds like the girls are doing great! So glad! My babies were gassy but nothing too bad so I just tried the drops and rubbing their tummy. Seemed to work for us. I hope you posted pics of the girls doing all their new tricks! Twin girls would be so fun! Keep us posted on your vacation.

Steph~ Beautiful babies! I love to see everyone elses little ones. I'm just a magnet to the early stages! Great photography as well. Glad things are going so well!

Well, I better run.We just returned home from my brother's house and I am spent!
Merry Christmas Mommies!

Merry Christmas Everyone!

My two are down for a much-needed nap....We just had about 4 hours of playing with all our new loot this morning....they had a blast ripping paper and bows off their presents! Braeden's favorite? A broom! What a hoot! He keeps sweeping my floors for me (thank GOD!). Ellie is enjoying her little kitchen with its pots and pans. They're really starting to get into playing "pretend". It's pretty darn cute!

Kholtan--checked out your blog! I love love love the pic with Santa! It looks a lot like ours! Can't beat two screaming kiddos on Santa's lap! And, wow! Your U/S....how cool! It's amazing how much more you can see when it's one baby, you know? How are you feeling?

Well, I'm off to jog the dog...it's freezing outside, but this lady has got to run off the 5 pounds of cookies she ate last night. (I'm not even counting all the pumpkin bread.....it's healthy, right? )

Hope all of you have a wonderful day with your kiddos! Especially you mommas enjoying your babies' first Christmas!

Hi there!

Sounds like everyone's doing well.

Our Christmas was a little stressful... My mother flew in from Japan yesterday but during the rush at the SFO airport, she fell and injured her ankle! She was put on a wheelchair and taken to the connection flight to Seattle but she missed the flight. She was taken to the emergency room because she couldn't put any pressure on it. She finally got on flight at 11:00 pm and got to SEA at 1:30 am. I am glad she's with us now resting upstairs. I am back to work today but of course working from home, it's not so bad

Sean was over stimulated with all the new toys (we haven't even opened all boxes yet) last night and had terrible tantrums. His Nana got him a huge Thomas play tent and that literally takes up his whole room! He's very happy though jumping up and down inside the tent. The twins got a little activity table and some little instruments that make some noises. We'll open some more now that my Mom's here.

Aaah the gas, that was my worst enemy! My daughter is still on Nutramigen and ever since we switched to that expensive formula, she's not gassy anymore. We have to transition her to the regular milk-based formula before her 1st birthday so that she'll be used to drinking regular milk from then on. Gentlese didn't work for her although I heard it's really awesome. All I could do was to burp them really well else, they slept very badly.

Steph, your babies are gorgeous. Close up shot like that, you can see just how precious they are. I want your camera! I put it on my wish list for Christmas but too expensive for now... If I get a raise, maybe I would consider buying it myself!

Kim, you are so good for exercising. I used to have that logic, too, before I had all these babies. I consume, I burn. But now, apart from being prego my brain doesn't work that way anymore. More like I eat, accumulate... Someday...

Kimberley, that photo with Santa is classic! For the fear of Sean screaming, I have not taken any pic with Santa but looking at yours, I thought maybe I should have! It's so cute!! I hope you are enjoying the snow. Cannot believe how much snow we had in the last one week. Hope your baby in tummy is doing well. I am going to have my second level ultrasound on Monday! We can find out the sex then and my Mom gets to find out at the same time as we do! The baby is kicking like crazy now and I am thinking, he or she might be the most active baby of all.

Suga, yay for success with the crib transition. You must be very happy!! Hope you had a good first Christmas with the babies. Having two girls, I am sure they were the little princesses all the way.

Anyway, I am still working so I suppose I should not waste any more company money!

Have a wonderful Holiday season everyone!

Hugs,

Kimi

Tolbe: Yay that your mom got to fly in from Japan!! I hear you on the over stimulation BIG time!

Steph: Cute pictures! Love the Thing one and Thing 2....where did you get those?? Mine said that they would be on Enfacare until they are 9 months old??? I use Gentle Ease on Brooke and it has helped a little. I am going to ask about the Nutragemin (spelled WRONG!) next doc. appt. but I think hers is more her colon area she is having problems in. I have been using rice cereal in their milk since like they were....2 months old?? (adjusted age born lol) because of their reflux. It really does not make that much of a difference in keeping them full honestly but I only put 1 tsp. per ounce in there. But if I use the organic kind at Wal Mart I only put 2 1/2 tsp because it makes it thick fast! Just helps the spit ups come up a little thicker and slower lol.

So I took Brooke to the Chiropractor right...well it worked! He said it is not her reflux so much but her bowels are all messed up. So he adjusted her 3 times and let me tell you! She is pooping like a champ now! They are starting to get softer as well! He thinks she is spitting up so much because of all the backed up-ness going on down there! So I need to find a chiropractor up here in Tallahassee that does not charge an arm and a leg to keep her going with it.

I AM NEVER EVER EVER traveling with the girls again until they are one! I am serious! After this year people are coming to me! It is a pain in the butt to travel with them, 2 dogs, and STUFF so much STUFF to take!!! And then we have to stop and feed them and Brooke hates to be in the seat more than 2 hours at a time and screams and AHHHH!!! So no more after New Years my husband and I decided because it is WAY too stressful! Other than that, Christmas was wonderful!!

Post by sarahalf »

Hi Ladies! I just wanted to let you know I am still checking in and reading up on all of you. You prob dont even remember me!
In fact, I dont even know if I have posted since I had my girls!
Scarlett and Lucy were born Nov 9 at 35 weeks gest. They spent two weeks in the NICU, as feeders and growers. They are doing great and we are coming out of the newborn fog (somewhat).
Suga, I love how much you post and I have been learning so much about how to feed, sleep, etc the babies. I have two older kids (Jack, 7 and Stella, 5) but this twins thing is a whole 'nother game!
Any word from Sameera?
Thanks again to all of you experienced moms who take the time to update this double trouble thread and tell us what to expcect next~
