Good morning girls!

I was around yesterday, but I spent quite some time trying to plan a nice couple's Xmas for DH and me, given that we'll be alone on the evenings of the 24th and 25th. I think I've found the perfect concept... on the 24th, I'll be home all day and DH will come home at lunchtime. I want the evening to be a surprise... so I'll manage to have everything ready for our romantic meal together. Here's the menu:

Wild mushrooms bechamel with garlic and white wine in pastry shells
Xmas broth
Vegetarian fondue (steamed veggies and tofu dipped in tempura and cooked in oil) with a variety of sauces
Asian salad
Chocolate fondue

It will be easy to have everything ready by the time he comes home, and that way he won't have a clue about what we'll eat for Xmas. I'll probably have fun baking Xmas sugar cookies and dog cookies for the stockings and we'll probably cook most of the following day's meal together (my grandparents will come for Xmas lunch). And we'll play some board games together. All I'll ask him to do will be to carry a small table in front of the fireplace so we can have a candlelight dinner in front of the fireplace and the tree. And after the meal, I'll change into some sexy Xmassy lingerie that I'll try to find this weekend. :D:D:D

So yeah, lots of interesting things planned for this weekend. I still have to buy DH a gift or two (small gifts), plus two gifts for my grandparents, plus felt to make extra stockings, plus stuff to put into said stockings. Not to mention that I'll teach a meditation class tomorrow morning and right after that an accountant is coming at our house to give us advice on our personal finances. And I still have to finish the hem of those curtains I sewed on Sunday. And it would also be nice if I found the time to sew two cushions for the living room with leftover fabric. Ah, well... I'll manage!

Angie,
Sorry that your DH's interview was a bit disappointing. But as you said, it,s a good practice and it proves he's still got it because they called him for an interview! :DI hope his good mood lasts throughout the holidays! :D How are you sweetheart and when do you stop working for the holidays? Thanks for the info about pictures, I'll try to post something soon... (furbabies)

Carolyn,
Boy, must be exciting to have your flights booked for Prague! :D Things are really moving and it must feel so much better! *HUGS* I agree with you sweetie, 2009 will be your year! I'll drink to that! Oh and yes, so far so good, I haven't caught anyone's flu or worse... ;) Looks like you'll have lots of family time during the Holidays! woohoo! I love when the house is full of people! Mealtimes are much more entertaining that way!

becky,
your comments about your nails craked me up! LOL! I agree with the others! Only YOU knows what's best for you and your baby, and the decision is up to you. There's no way we can predict what will happen in our lives. Sometimes we're extra careful and it's not worth it, and sometimes we avoid disasters. Sometimes we run into it because we took a chance. The most important thing for you is to base your decisions on your instincts, not fear, but your instincts. You know you've been tired and you don't feel like dancing all night. Hey, it's your right and I'm really sorry your colleagues made those insensitive comments. It wasn't fair, and it wasn't their business. It's not like you've chained yourself to your bed in fear that something might happen, so no my dear, you're not silly at all! :D Heck, I sure wouldn't have been able to boggie all night at that stage, and I would do exactly what you're planning to do. Have fun while you're there, and then leave early without remorse! :)

Okay, gotta work a little... :( Lol don,t really feel motivated either!

Take care lovelies!

Becky, just popping in to say good luck for tomorrow and for your scan - everything will be just fine you just wait and see, but I totally know what you are going through. Don't worry about the ladies at work - you do what is good for you and not for them - its not worthing worrying about.

Sophie, wow just seen your ticker, 21 wks already - how is it going - are you well? Your xmas menu sounds divine - your hubby is in for a really nice treat.

Carolyn so excited for you honey with your flights booked for prague - is this for tmt or for first consultation? Sorry I am so out of the loop with you all.

Angie / Miracle how are you both ?

Rachel - poor ruby - glad she is well - I'm dreading this virus and hoping that it stays away from our house - looking forward to your first christmas as a family?

Su - Oliver is adorable - I sneak on to Facebook and have a look at your piccies now again! How is it going?

All is well with us, Eva is now nearly 19 wks , can't believe the time goes so quickly - tried putting her into her own room last night but she decided she wasn't having none of it so had the first bad night last night which isn't bad considering. I still can't believe that she is ours and sometimes just sit and look at her for hours in amazement.

Sorry that I don't pop in as often but I do think of you all often (and apologies for the short personals - sitting with Eva waiting for her to go to sleep!).

Wishing you all a happy christmas and here's to a new year with lots of BFP's coming your way

Hey Ladies,

Well, im back from my scan ... they have put me at 6wks + 3days, so need to change my ticker.

They still cant find a heartbeat girls :( ... but the baby (yolk) is growing :) last week at my scan at the EPU, it showed just 1 x sac ... this week its showing 1 x sac PLUS yolk - it was a wee tiny white line inside the sac ... i told them that we didnt have that at EPU last week, so they are pleased about that. They measured an looked about, reasured me that it is still too early for a heartbeat, altho they could see i was upset.

I know some people are lucky enough to see their babies heartbeat at 6 weeks ... but some people have to wait ... looks like im in the latter category, we are gonna have to wait it out

The clinic said that this scan is still too early (im not due for it until boxing day) that they dont scan untill sometime in the 7th week to be sure they see a heartbeat. So ladies, i have to wait until next Tuesday now (30th)

I was heading home an thinking .... my original scan isnt due till boxing day ... so thinking about it - i am too early, i know its only 4 days until boxing day, but if i hadnt have had these early scans - i would be none the wiser would i???? .... the clinic also said that 4 days can make a hell of a lot of difference to a baby's heartbeat - said it might even start on way home in the car (i was tempted to ask her if i could lay there till this afternoon just in case then ha ha!)

So, there we go .... i might sound ok, an i think i am ok - but its still there i suppose in the back of my mind - i do wish we had seen one, it would make it so much more relaxing for us over xmas....

Roll on Tues then ladies lol ...

Morning ladies!

Well I'm also going to be rather short today, because I want to rush all the work I have to do today in order to work from home tomorrow! ;) Not to mention the Xmas shopping I have to do this afternoon... nice sweater for DH and a DVD for my grandpa... and something sexy for Xmas eve! ;)

Becky,
I'm also disappointed that they didn't find the heartbeat... it's really too bad. But you're absolutely right, there is a week, week and a half margin there and some find the heartbeat only at one end of the margin and not the other. Your baby is growing, we know that much and it's a good sign. How as your Xmas party girlie? Did your colleagues change their attitude? I really hope that the celebrations will keep you busy and keep your thoughts away from IVF as often as possible, that way the wait won't seem so long. In the meantime, I'll keep everything crossed and I'll check on Tuesday to see what the news is! *HUGS* hang in there sweetie, it's not over until the fat lady sings! ;)

Nimble,
Hey, it's great to have news!!! Time really flies, and I'm glad to hear that you're doing well!

Angie,
THanks for dropping by sweetie! Have a great day!

To all the others, have a great day too!!!

Kissies,

Becks, so sorry you didn't see the heartbeat and know how you are feeling but you said yourself, your scan was earlier than it should be so don't give up, keep thinking those positive thoughts - try and enjoy christmas and not to worry too much (easier said than done!!)

Hi Ladies!

Okay, I think this might be my last entry before Xmas. I started writing a to do list and oh my! ;) There's stuff to do! Ironically, I'm working from home too! It's SO COLD out there it's not even funny. We were hit by several snowstorms and we're expecting another one tomorrow. After the snow usually come very cold temperatures. So I'll just do what I wanted to do for work and then I'll "work" on the house!

Carolyn,
Hey sweetie! :) You make me blush, seriously! But I think it's all a question of family tradition and values. My belgian great-grandmother made lace, huge patterns that could fit a door's window... my quebecker grandma embroidered all my father's bedding when he was born... she sews, too. My belgian grandma knows how to knit and crochet... my mother used to knit and crochet a lot too around the time I was born, but she doesn't do that anymore. My father's wife and quebecker grandma both love to have people over for dinner and cook nice meals. When I moved out, I drastically changed the menus, but the pleasure of having people over for dinner and making the house pretty, making my own things too, all that stayed with me. However, I become completely dumb when it comes to administrative stuff, banking stuff, investments, and so on. ;) And don't ask me to draw, lol! As for the couple's Xmas eve, well, it went out the window yesterday. My DH's friend invited us over for dinner on the 24th. It will be great to spend time with them, they're fun people and I really like him, his wife and their little boy. But our romantic dinner was planned for that evening. I'll postpone it to the eve of the 25th, but given that we'll have my grandparents over for Xmas lunch the same day, I doubt we'll eat much, and we'll be tired.

Miracle, Angel, Angie, Carolyn, Shantala, Nimble, Becky, Rachel, Chriss, Stephanie, and all those I might forget, shame on me,

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!!

May your celebrations be filled with laughter, joy, love and good times! And may 2009 bring you a sweet little bundle of joy!! Or two... or three?
