Happy New Year to grown-ups and growing-ups

Post by Literatriz »

Hi all,
Another snow storm in New England telling me to listen to my thread friends and take is easy!!!!! I started having contractions, nothing serious but they want to check every week. My cervix went from 3.8 to 3.4 but it still holding on pretty good. We did have a baby shower and now the room smells like the babies are real. Intersesting how a baby talk can bring more of an emotional experience than an ultrasound. Now they are too big to be picture all together. And yes, Liz, they kick a lot!

Much Hope, congrats on the good news on Baby C. Hope the three of them grow steadly and cross the viability barrier as soon as possible.

Crogers, good luck with managing the contractions and all that follows. Thanksf for the advice on "don't lie down after eating". It works! And...what is BH?

JenniferPD, how is your cervix doing? How are you? Hope to read from you soon!

Babyloves, I won't repeat what others said but just share what my doctor told me: post a picture of a very premature child on a visible place and look at it when you think about pushing yourself a bit more. REST and good nutrition are the strongest factors in having healtht babies... I know it is hard but let's try it!!!!

Stefanie, nice to know you are OK. A diet of Milk, cookies and TV sounds great!

To all of you, new or old founders of this thread, Happy New Year and good luck in your journey to parenthood in 2009!

Double trouble...maybe more

Post by babyhope1 »

Hello ladies,

I am looking for possible support for what I may have gotten myself into. I recently miscarried my twins (due March of 09) and then had a failed IVF. I wanted so badly to get back what I had. So I was completely broke and used my leftover meds for a gonanatropin IUI cycle (follistim) which worked!

I got the results of my first beta taken at 15 days PO and it was 615! On that day this summer it was 235 with my twins, then 532. So, I am thinking it is possibly a litter in there. I am not worried because I miscarried both babies in August after seeing 120 bpm heartbeats so I don't think all of them will "make" it. I pray for them and remember the saying, be careful what you wish for...cause it may come true!

Anyone with multiples have such a high beta? They say it will flatten out or possibly double at most. Flatten out? I would take that to be a miscarriage. I am scared of losing babies again...anyone encourage you to "reduce." I know this will come up at my first ultrasound, which is rediculious because I tend to naturally reduce, why risk?

Hi ladies,
Literatriz: thanks for the premature baby advice. I actually felt some lower abd pressure and slight brownish d/c last week and the docs really took it seriously - NST, fetal fibronectin, etc to look for premature labor, but luckily everything was fine. My cervical length went from 2.7 to 3.0 - i'm sure there's a margin of error there. :D She gave me antibiotics for a UTI, which i didn't end up having...we'll see if my vaginal culture shows anything...I'll try resting more in general - anyway, no bed rest yet according to my ob..

Stephanie: Resting is good, but staying somewhat active is not that bad either if you dont' have any major health issues...I don't mean running or doing strenous stuff, but an occas 10 min walk probably provides some clean fresh air and decreases stiffness in your joints (unless you're on bed rest.)

babyhope1: hi, and welcome. I'm sorry about ur earlier loss, but i'm glad you've been successful this time around!! That BFP sounds nice and high, how many did u have put in? Mine was around 560s as well with twins. Its hard to predict, u may still have 1, but probably at least 2...i wouldn't worry about reduction just yet as its too soon to tell, plus its a huge decision - just enjoy your BFP!! Congrats!

Well...hope the rest of you are doing well and enjoyed the holidays!

I have a question for all the moms: do you feel one baby moving more than the other? One of my girls is always on the move in the same location, and the other gives the occas kick...should i not be concerned?

I am 25 weeks today and my cervix has stabilized at .5 AND at 24 weeks both Michael and Sophia were each 1 1/2 pounds- that is great for twins!!!! So I am just making the best of it and my husband has been an Angel. So far so good. Happy New Year!

Jenniferdp: I'm so glad to hear that your doing great!! I think about you a lot and come on here more often then I would hoping to catch one of your posts. I'm so happy for the babies and it sounds like all 3 of you are going to be just fine. Your in my prayers sweetie.

Babyloves: I've got the same thing going on with my boys!!! And i was wondering the same thing. I feel my Tommy (Baby A) all the time. I've feel him so much that I've kind of deeloped a pattern for him. My Santino (Baby B) Worries me to no end because sometimes I'll feel him like crazy for a day then he'll only give me a little bump or 2 for the 3 days. I've been worried but it seems that that's just his personality and where we are in our pregnancies at this point.
But yeah, your not alone.

Hi everyone! I just had my first u/s this morning and it's TWINS! I am 7w2d now. Baby A was measuring at 7w3d and Baby B was measuring at 7w2d. Baby B's sac was about a week behind in growth, but our doctor said it fell within the normal range and is fine. He said it gets crowded in there. Anyone else had that?

babyloves,

You asked how many I had put back in, well, my IVF last month actually failed and after deciding I was broke we went back to IUI+gonanatropins (follistim). So the lord only knows how many are in there! I had 15 follicles (less meds but a better response!) Only 2 were over 18m on Friday of my u/s but the others were close, perhaps 4-5 others. I triggered and had the IUI Sat and Sun.

That is why I am so scared. I am 31 and my doc talked me out of putting three back in there during IVF. My embryo quality was terrible however and they wanted to destroy the remaining embryos, C quality. I knew they were not good and my contract pays for their cryo for a year so I opted for a "fresh" IUI instead of FET. My second beta came back, it was 1727. With my twins this summer it was 532 on my second beta. Anyway, it more than doubled so I am freaking out about molar pregnancy now...its growing too fast, whatever it is. My u/s is on the 12th...I am already outgrowing my clothes at 4 weeks! YIIKES!

Babyhope1,your hcg is high, but it still could be 1-2 babies.Mine was nothing special-157 and second 350 and we were PG with triplets  (transfered only 2!)Another girl with triplets had first beta 450.
We lost one between 7 and 8 week. They wanted me to wait until 11- 12 weeks before offering anything and see if nature will take care on it's own-and it did. So,I guess all you can do-just wait and see.
IVF#1-BFP,but lost our angel at 16 weeks
IVF#2-BFN
IVF#3-BFP,started w/tiplets,lost one at 7 weeks,lost a second at 15 weeks
Praying for a miracle baby to stay with us!
It's a girl!

cocosmomma: i think we stimmed together, and i'm glad to see your back with a BFP...congrats!

Muchhope1: i didn't realize you had an IUI...yeah, that makes it tougher to guess. i think your numbers sound fine, and i wouldn't worry so much about molar pg, etc...i think we all drive ourselves carry about the worst case scenario...i know i still do...but just rest assure that at least you have ONE baby in there...and things are bound to be just fine! Betas are complex to determine...i remember my 3rd was not double, and i was going crazy...anyway, I predict twins for you :D :D

silverangel: thanks for sharing...ur post made me feel better. i have my u/s tomm, so we'll see if one is smaller and kicking less...its cute that you've given them personalities already...DH and I have given them potential interests like singing (that's mine), and being good at word games (DH) :)

i feel so much love for my unborn babies already!! I got all gushy from the kicks yesterday - i could see them without touching my belly... :D :D

Hello ladies, I am calmer now. My second beta was 1727 at 17 DPO which more than doubled in two days. Actually it was day 27 of my "cycle" but I think I needed to throw the dates out the window and go by DPO. I ovulated on CD 8-9 (triggered on CD 7! I guess the drugs change the dates a bit however I was on less meds than when I did IVF and stimmed 5 days (instead of 7). Anyway, my dr called to congratulate me yesterday and tell me our chromosome tests were fine so no real reason for our misscarriage. I asked about molar and she said it wasn't because the numbers would be in the tens of thousands by now...reassurance! Just another reason why I am growing so fast. When did you ladies start showing?

flying?

Post by kb2131 »

hi everyone! I've posted a few times here before and so glad to have this great support and resource! we are currently 12 weeks pregnant with twins and wondering if any of you know if it is ok to fly around 14 or 15 weeks. we have a friend who delivered at 26 weeks and flew the day before. Makes us a bit nervous as we have had 1 m/c before (although early on-8 weeks) but with twins and Bridget being 37 makes us a bit nervous to fly. We are going to ask our OB on monday at our appt but wanted to know if anyone on here has insight/advice on flying during pregnancy and if having twins makes it anymore risky than with a singleton? thanks!

i was 24 wks with twins, and the peri said absolutely not unless its a really short flight. 15 wks may be okay, but it all depends on what ur ob/peri say...and each of them will say different things too. i guess it depends on how badly you need to fly...in my case, i just wanted to go away somewhere warm which was not worth it - good luck

Hey Ladies,

i recognise many names here from the IVF cycle boards and although i am nervous making the leap over to the pregnant after treatment side, i was wondering if i could join you!!!

I had my first u/s today, earlier than planned as i have had a lot of brown spotting, and turns out i am having triplets!! There was a 4th sac in there with a little bean inside, but no heartbeat and the sac looked 'cloudy' and not clear like the other 3. The RE said this one is unlikely to go anywhere and may already be resolving, so we are officially calling it 3 not 4. All other babies measured spot on at 6 weeks 1 day, 2 day and 3 day with HR's of 116, 120 and 123.

I am quite anxious about having trips!!! i was secretly hoping for twins but never really considered more than that, so i'm hoping to benefit from all your experience and getting to know those of you i havent already :)
