Good Afternoon Ladies!

I just wanted to hop on really quick and let you know I just got the results of my second beta and it is at 2,273 - the nurse said it was were it was expected to be, I guess that is okay, I was kind of hoping for it to be larger than they expected, but now the long wait until next Wed to see the little one and hopefully see the heartbeat. I will be one day short of 7 weeks at that point.

If I dont get a chance to post again before the end of the day I wish you all a Happy New Year!!!!

Not Hopeless Yet, I went to Vegas over a year ago and soooo wanted to see one of the Cirque shows then. We had already spent way to much $ though, but I figure this is our last little splurge for awhile. Just add it on to the numerous medical bill expenses and we won't even miss it. Ha! Glad to hear you like the shows.

Lynniecat, congrats on your u/s and seeing the fetal pole and h/b. I still don't think I've seen the fetal pole, or at least they aren't pointing it out and I keep forgetting to ask!

JennJenn, good luck tomorrow! Can't wait to see your next #'s.

Babyhope, congratulations on your BFP. I'm so happy to hear you got one from IUI as I tried about 8 or 9 of them and never worked for me. I wish you the best and hope you are able to start enjoying the feeling soon.

Kas, yep, I can't wait for some warmer weather! I want to move to Florida one day, but we live on the coast now so it's really pretty warm here for the most part. I can totally understand your wanting to get in for an earlier u/s. The earliest they would see me is 7 weeks, but maybe you could pay out of pocket like you said if that's an option. I'm excited to hear about how many little beans you have in there.

Karen, congrats on a great u/s and glad to hear your bleed seems to be resolving itself. That must rest your mind a bunch!

Mary, good luck with your 2nd set of #'s today. Keep us posted!

Gina, I know I sent you a message earlier, but glad to hear your u/s went well. As for the heartburn, I've been popping Tums which really seems to help and RE says it's completely safe. If your's is more severe though, they may be able to recommend something even better.

As for me, I went for blood tests and nuchal screening this morning. Everything looks great so far, and it was the neatest thing. I could see the face, heart, brain, kidneys, etc. and we heard the h/b for the first time. Plus we saw both hands and 5 fingers on each, both feet and toes on each. So much detail! Just had to share. Hugs to all.

HI ladies. I went for my second beta this morning and just got my results. Its 407. Beta #1 (12/29) was 137, so i guess this is good. Also, my progesterone levels are high at 264.9 so i can stop the progesterone shots. I am happy about that, but I am nervous. The RE says that they want it over 50 so i am fine. My body is making the progesterone on its own. Im just nervous. Is it too early?

First Beta

Post by babyhope1 »

Ladies,

I got my very first beta for this pregnancy on Monday. I got the results today (end of year rush). Well, it is, drum roll please. My first beta 15 days past ovulation is 615! YIIKES!!! Is there a saying somewhere be careful what you wish for?

Anyway, I am feeling more comfortable. Last time on this day it was 235 with my twins, then 532 two days later. I am thinking it is possibly more than two babies. It doesn't scare me in the least because I know I have poor embryo quality from IVF as well as miscarried two babies post 120 heartrates at 6 weeks so if indeed it is more than two I don't believe they all will "go through." Sorry, I have to look at it like a credit card transaction...I tell DH...if it goes through. Its just so hard to make plans, last time I decided not to go home for Christmas because we would be 3rd trimester etc.

I just can't make any plans about anything right now...just never know what may happen.

Babyhope and JennJenn - Wanted to say Congrats on your BFP's!!!
Image
Wishing you both a very happy and healthy 9 months.

Lynniecat - Congrats on seeing the fetal pole and heart beat. I am sure that was such a relief.

Kas - how are you doing? any m/s yet? I can't believe your insurance won't pay for an u/s. Hope maybe your Re might be able to give you a discount if you pay out of pocket. I would also want and u/s just to help relieve some stress.

Wonderance - Glad to see that everything is progressing well with your pregnancy.

foreverlove - Your beta #'s are awesome. When do you go in for an u/s?

gina - Sorry about the heartburn. I have heard that tomatoes and orange juice can be some of the worst things to have during pregnancy. Hope it doesn't get too bad but now you can jump up and down for joy that you have pregnancy symptons.

Karen - So happy that your baby is doing just fine and it looks like the bleeding has subsided. Hope you can now relax just a teeny tiny bit and enjoy being PG.

Hope everyone enjoyed their New Year's Eve. This was my 17th new year's eve with hubby and the first time that we had no plans. We made dinner, watched some movies and was asleep before midnight. I know, how exciting. Told Dh it was down hill from here because next year we will have a new born and won't be able to celebrate New Years then either.

berning2005 - We would have to have more info to try and figure out your numbers. I know your first beta was high but did you have a 3dt, or a 5 dt and how many days after your transfer did you have your beta. Regardless you have really good numbers so you are definatly PG. You will just have to wait for the u/s to find out how many. I have seen betas that start out low and it is twins and other times I have seen really high betas and it ends up being a singleton. Wishing you the best of luck. When will you have your u/s?

hi everyone!!

rosario..nice to hear things are approaching for you. i've never done bcp's before a cycle before, so remind me- when you finish them do you go straight into stims, or do you down-reg first?

NY- HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! wishing you the most beautiful of days :D :D and good luck with those stims starting tomorrow. please keep us closely updated as i want to send lots of good energy your way.

berning- congrats on growing betas. my second beta was high too (7741) and i have only 1 growing. but, my second beta was a week after the first. some of us are just big hcg producers, and i'm one of those. i never had 2 growing, and this happened last time i was pg too- big beta #'s with just 1.

wonder- so glad everything is going well and the nuchal went good. enjoy :D

babyhope. i so get the 'no plans' thing. the best thing i did for me was to distract myself, cause any time 'left to my own devices', i made myself crazy with worry and fear. i pray for a healthy 1st tri for you. i didn't get what you said about your Dh though? although i got the comparison to the credit card transaction. take care.

jennjenn. sooo here's my thoughts on progesterone (although they've been unpopular before on other threads on this forum).. my RE's and OBGYN insist that progesterone supplements are useless once you get a good, high beta. they say by then, the issues with the IVF process taking the progesterone away from the corpus luteum is all resolved. they say it's old school and not scientifically valid to continue progesterone after a good beta (2 weeks after transfer). the progesterone is needed prior to this. ....i was also sent a link to a scientific research article about this (saying the same thing) from a lady on another IVF forum (she was PG, almost due, stopped progesterone after that first 2 weeks). frankly, she pissed me off at first, cause i only wanted to hear that i MUST have it.

ANYWAYS, i'm such a worry wart that i insisted i get it anyways, my RE wasn't willing to do this, but my OB did, cause he said it wouldn't harm me. . so after a previous miscarriage- the OB wasn't going to argue with me, and i just needed it for reassurance. i weaned off it over the last 10 days. this seems to be a controversial topic, many women have strong feelings about it and i know on another thread my information didn't go over well. so i say, trust your dr's (within reason) and listen to your heart and what your bottom lines are of what you feel safe with. and always ask your RE to explain 'why' to you so you can understand.

hi kas, lynnie, gina, chris and everyone else... HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

on my end, the spotting is back...if you can call it that. it's dark brown sludge. i'm not too worried about it..BUT.. i am. i complete the first tri tomorrow. i'm going to see my OB this week and see what's next for u/s's and explore any pre-natal testing we may do. i'm afraid of amnio and cvs for m/c risk. and nuchal's can give false positives (positives= somethings wrong with baby). so it's all scary.

anyways, love to all, karen
