Thanks Michele. I need all the tips I can get as I know I will be on this for the rest of my life with the PCOS. Lately I have lost my appetite....I mean it is there but I literally have like no time to cook till the girls are in bed. So I eat a good dinner then pig out on sugar free JellO! (like seriously, I eat 6 of the cups...I have a problem...but it is my sweets). When I started on Monday I ate eggs and such I need to do that again as it did keep me really full for awhile. I love omelets too. What tips do you have? Snacks and such that are easy?

suga- well, I am more of an atkins low carber, than a south beach low carber, but I know they have the same principles, but south beach has more of a focus on good carbs/good fat rather than just eliminating carbs.

So here is some of the stuff I snack on-

I do a lot of pepperoni and cheese. I will just slice up some cheese and place the squares on slices of pepperoni. South beach would probably reccomend turkey pepperoni instead of regular for less fat. Mozzarella sticks too.

Sugar free jello- don;t worry if you have 6 cups, it is basically flavored water, no carbs, no fat, and like 10 calories, so fill up.

Nuts- I like walnuts, almonds, peanuts, macadamians. Sometimes I will take the walnuts or almonds and heat them on the stove with a tiny bit of butter(I am sure you can use low fat or something south beach acceptable) and a pack of splenda, a warm sweet treat.

I roll up cold cuts and cheese, , sometimes with pickles, dip in some mustard, very quick and easy when your hungry

Fruits and veggies- berries are allowed, and most green veggies. I buy those steamable veggie packs and they take five minutes in the microwave.

Wraps- I buy wraps, xtreme wellness are the name of them, made by ole, I get them at the grocery store. They are low in everything and come in spinach & herb and tomato & basil. I get creative, like chicken and spinach, chicken ceaser salad wrap, eggs and cheese, sometimes I do them quesadilla style in my george foreman, again, quick and easy. I think on south beach you can use whole grain breads, so you could even do a no sugar added peanut butter and some smuckers sugar free jelly sandwiches.

If I think of more I will let you know, sorry to everyone else for having to read our low carb post, but if you need ideas, definitely ask, I make a lot of recipes that people eat and don;t even know they are sugar free or low carb. Suga- check out the recipe room at www.lowcarbfriends.com for ideas too.

Drum roll please......

Brooke and Mackenzie pooped EVERYWHERE today!!! I think the formula did the trick because I have not changed anything else! I mean it went through their diaper and on their clothes (and one me when I changed them lol). I had to laugh because it was at least a week's worth. So I hope the formula did the trick for their bowels. They still spit up a ton and I think they are just going to have to outgrow that. They are eating again (Well Kenzie more than Brooke now). They had to get used to the taste of the formula though. It smells HORRIBLE esp when it gets spit up all over you! But that is my good news!

Hi mommas!
just checked in on Corny- sound like Abby is doing great and is scheduled for her operation in about a week's time- we'll be thinking of you 3 and praying for a swift recovery for Abby.

Suga- woo hoo on the poopin'! it must be a relief for you as much as the girls :D

Michele- it was pretty cool- my warehouse is right next to the railroad tracks and about 3 blocks from the Baltimore Penn Station where Obama's train stopped, so I went out on my roof and watched the train pass by- then was yelled at by some police to get off my roof- I didn't then the doorbell rang, and a Secret Service man came to tell me that there were snipers positioned around the area and we were not to go back on our roof- well- it turns out -about 5 minutes later, the whole motorcade came right behind my house!!! no wonder- it wasn't the train they were worried about, but the motorcade- I did get photos, though! pretty crazy!!
ok- for some reason Pulman's been on a crying bender for the last couple of days- grrr! got to go

loopie- it must have been great. I was watching all of the festivities yesterday and everyone was so happy and hopeful. I watched many peoples personal videos on youtube of the train passing by their local tracks and it was so emotional to see. I would love to see your pics, you should post them on photobucket. I got an email yesterday from photobucket that they are doing a community inaugural album, but post them in ours too so we know which ones are yours.

Quick question, can prunes cause diarrhea? As you know we changed their formula. Well that loosened them up right away! I gave Kenzie prunes still because she loves them! (weird eh?) well today she got diarrhea. I mean the whole diaper was not it but most of it. Do you think it is the prunes or the formula? We have a doc. appt tomorrow so I will ask but I was just wondering.

Also, no cavities! Cavity free for 24 years! (Almost 25 since bday is in May).

Suga- congrats on no cavities, but i've got you beat! 27 years, almost 28 since bday is in april, and I had braces for 4 of those years and still no cavities! The prunes make ella very loose, but not really diahrea, maybe it was a combination of both??

Corny- so good to see you back, no apologizing for being busy, and you are always welcome round' here!

Hi Everyone,

Sorry I haven't posted in such a long time. It has been crazy at work! I am really finding it hard to balance working full time and being a mom. Basically, I am being pretty ineffective in both arenas. I have to rant about my job too. I teach high school and have one of the worst classes I have EVER had. I don't know if you remember the movie "Dangerous Minds" but that is the school where I teach. The author worked here and modeled the book, which became the movie, on our school. It isn't as bad as it used to be, but we do have some rough students. Anyway, I have a low level class of only 13 (compared to the the rest of my classes of 35) and I CAN'T control them. I have been teaching for over 20 years and I just can't get them to do anything. They are disrespectful, NOT mature at all, and I think some are in gangs. And they are FRESHMEN! I love the rest of my classes though. I am getting NO help from my principals either. I have a feeling that it is going to be a long time until June 5th.

On the other hand, Declan is doing well. He has had problems with constipation but has responded well to the caro syrup we put in his formula. I hope it continues to solve the problem. He also slept through the night on Friday and Saturday (9pm to 6am). Yippee. Last night he woke for a 2am feeding, but I am hoping he goes back to sleeping through.

corny - Of course you are still welcome here!!!!! I check your blog frequently and am so excited about Abby's upcoming surgery. I am sure all will go well. I am loving all your pictures too!

Katie - Wow! You really have a lot on your plate right now, don't you! Good luck with your move and keep us posted on how it all goes.

Michelle and Suga - I am also trying to lose weight - about 40 lbs and am doing weight watchers. I was pretty successful with it before getting pregnant, but am struggling now. I think it is harder since I am just so tired all the time, I just want food that is quick and don't really watch my points. I am also not getting regular exercise. When DH is home we always cook together and have cocktails and that doesn't help either. When he is working I just do lean cuisine and veggies. He goes back to his normal schedule in February so I am just trying not to GAIN between now and then. At least it has been about 70 degrees here so we have been walking the dog and the baby everyday. That should help a little.

Gotta go. Obama is taking the oath!!!!!!

How are the frozen mommas? I can't believe we are having 70s and 80s here in the Cali Bay area, right Gecko? We don't even have this nice of a weather during summer! It is usually very cold here! I am loving it. Been taking the little one to the spa every day (we keep it at 97) and he is such a water baby, loves it! I will post more pics of my little ham! I am just amazed at the development, every day, every hour there is something new! He now grabs things and flings them far (training mommy how to fetch!). He also loves his jumperoo and bounces and giggles! I was a little bummed at the fact that he is not a newborn anymore :( he is just growing too fast and I want to soak in every minute no matter how tired I am. He is still on bmilk and DH tried to give him formula the other night and you would have thought he was poisoning him with all the faces and spit up! I really enjoy bfeeding even when it is hard sometimes with work. I am really going to miss it, Mellie, I totally understand you being bummed out about giving up the last of bmilk.

Mellie/CT - how is the new cycle going?
Loopie - post some pics of your work!
Gecko - oh you poor thing, should like you are having a hard time at work, I guess I need to come to terms that I can't get anything done either :(
Corny- good luck with the surgery and keep us posted!
Suga- wooohoooo yeay for poopies!
Katie - welcome back! I forgot if you were going for #2 soon also... good luck with the house sale.

Got to run - back to work

gecko- I can't believe you work in the dangerous minds school. I am a teacher and love to teach in urban school systems. I feel it is much more rewarding and the kids really appreciate a good teacher more, but I have been fortunate enough to not have an entire bad class, but just a few knuckleheads here and there. Last year there was one class at my school, a fifth grade class, that was like the class in dangerous minds. I actually referred to them as that, and their teacher was a first year teacher, skinny blond just like michelle pheifer. I felt so bad for her that she was stuck with those kids and it was a class of 26, only a few good ones, who I also felt bad for. I was the librarian last year and when this class would come, I couldn;t get them to do anything. When I could, their work was like reading a second graders, it was so sad. I often wonder how i would deal to have a class like that all day...at least in high school you only have them for 45 minutes, right? Here's to June 5th not coming soon enough!

On another note- glad to hear declan is well and hope he goes back to sleeping too. As far as weight, I have never tried weight watchers, but know I would not do well. I can't do the whole counting thing, that is why I would rather give up certain foods with low carb and not worry about my portions. But good luck, I am sure if you were successful before, you will be again.

Well we went back to the doctor today for their check up after switching formulas. She loves that they are no longer blocked but she does not like that their reflux is still so bad so she wants us to travel to Shans to get the GI specialist to look at them. So I do not know the date yet but I should find out soon. I am not looking forward to this as it is in Gainsville and I hate traveling with the girls. (Plus it is Gator country lol) Hopefully they can get their meds right though so we can get through this thing. I am getting tired of Kenzie choking on her spit up.

In other news, I reported Brooke's weight wrong. She was 14 lbs 6 oz Friday. Today she was 14 lbs 9 oz. So 3 oz gain. Kenzie went up 3 oz as well to 13 lbs 14 oz!
