BarbD - transfers are done awake. It's quick and absolutely painless. There's more time spent on prepping you than the actual transfer.

MeloP - pls don't feel isolated and alone if DH can't go with you. Just think about the fact that when you leave the clinic, there won't be you alone. it would be you PLUS 1 or 2!

We are also on our first IVF and first FET. We got 29 eggs at ER and fertilized and froze 19. I will say that so far this cycle was 100X better then the retreval cycle. I'm nervous about the progesterone shots that we will hopefully start soon. I say hopefully b/c my linning had gone down, 1st it was 6mm then 7mm then 4mm, they pumped me full of estrogen and now it was back up to 7mm as of yesterday. We have our next u/s and bw tomorrow and we will know if this cycle gets scrapped or we'll proceed to thaw and inplant. Maybe on the 8th or 9th. I hope all goes well for everyone.

As a side note, I left a message for my mom the other day and she commented on how my voice has gotten higher, anyone experience that?
My voice has always been pretty low.

Had our transfer Friday morning. Amazingly, all 5 survived the thaw. More amazingly they suggested transferring all 5. We did. Wow. (1 was fragmented so the chance of that one hitting is very low, then I have 2 5 cell and 2 8 cell)

The transfer was exactly how Brit described it, plus a valium.

So now we wait. I went to acupuncture afterwards, then two days of bedrest. And today and tomorrow, I’ll take it easy. DH wasn’t sure acupuncture was a good idea, but dr. okayed it. She said that acupuncture has had proven benefits while bedrest was just precautionary and hasn’t been proven to increase success. She also said it’s mostly about avoiding stress. So I read and watched a lot of movies and ignored the really giant pile of laundry. Trying to stay positive and not obsess.

Good luck with your lining. Looks like you’re heading in the right direction. (I haven’t noticed any voice changes.)

BarbD
Good luck tommorrow! We’ll be thinking of you

Don’t let DH’s attitude stress you out. Even with the most supportive husband, this whole process can be really sad and isolating. That’s why I find this board helpful. At least you know you are not the only unlucky one in the world. This time we really limited the people we told.
P.S. Your location isn’t listed, if you happen to be in LA-area PM me. I’d be happy to give you a ride.

Hi All

Just a quick post.

- Haloha to all those recently joined

- Wahoo siouxsie - at least a few of those babies (literally) have gotta take!! They are very strict here on how many they transfer - I had a meltdown at the clinic last round because they still refused to transfer two instead of one - despite the fact I only had 2 okay embbies and this was last chance saloon.

Have had many long and varied discussions with the scientists here (over my various cycles) and they said that for some reason - and they don't know why - the more embryos - the bigger the signal for implantation - in other words you could transfer 3 at the same time and you have a much better chance of conceiving than if you transferred the three over three different months (one per transfer - which is what they do here). Bags of luck and may our good luck BEGIN RIGHT HERE!

Thanks for kind words too - yes Tricia I like that thought - hopefully only one us goes into the clinic - but two little live beings walk back out!! Siouxsie - thanks for offer of ride too - but am in welly New Zealand

Bed rest - I see from some of your posts that there is bed rest prescribed - and this has me in a fix - the clinic here just say do what ever your comfortable with and basically keep blood going to uterus - so walk a lot to raise circulation a little - but don't overeat (blood goes to stomach) or over excersize? Do I walk or rest?

I really really wish I had been organised to do the acu thing. Siouxsie - was the first time you went right after transfer? you didn't need to do anything before? maybe I can still get organised?

Sorry didn't manage to catch up personals with everyone - will check in tomorrow and read up a little more on where everyone at.

Best

Mel

Good luck today BarbD!

Mayla324- Welcome, and I hope all is going well with your lining. My clinic says anything above an 8 is good, so you are getting close!

siouxsie- it is so encouraging to hear that all of your embies made it! I also had to take a valium, just forgot to mention that.

Melo- I wouldn't worry to much about the bedrest thing. It has not been proven to do anything for you. I think it is just an old idea that many doc's are moving away from. I do it because my doc tells me to, and you should follow the instructions that yours gives you. Think about the people who get pregnant naturally, they just go on about their everyday lives. Good luck with everything.

Only three more days until my transfer, can't beleive it is already here!
After 7 attempts (2 negatives/3 miscarriages), we have TWO miracle boys!! If you would like to hear our story, please visit http://www.ivfsuccessstories.info. Never give up, it can happen for you!!

I agree with Brit about the bedrest. I think mostly it’s about staying relaxed.

I went to acupuncture about 5 times and I’ll go one more next week. She prefers people to come 3 months before the transfer, but that wasn’t in my budget. I know another women who did it only once the morning of the transfer (and she now has twins). I just I wanted to do it so I know I’ve done all I can. My doc said there’s probably some benefit, but the numbers are greatly exaggerated by the practitioners. She said to go if you find it relaxing (which I do), and forget it if it’s an added stressor. If you go I think it’s best to go to someone specializing in IVF prep. My acupuncturist is also my regular gyn nurse practioner. Last cycle I went to someone else who was recommended to me (apparently famous in Korea for women’s issues), but when I was pregnant with twins she told me my pulse wasn’t feeling pregnant, which freaked me out. In retrospect, I guess she was right, but still.

I am a little shocked by the 5 myself. I know they would never do so many except that they know they’re not the best quantity. Still, I’m really, really hoping that we get one to settle in.

Hi All

Am trying to keep a track of where everyone is at - but am hopeless - do people want to add their own particulars to the list below and copy and update so we have a full list?

Transfer went okay this morning, felt a bit sorry for myself going alone - and then just in case I might be getting hopeful that he is a nice guy after all - mt DH had a crappy meltdown at me this morning before I went to the clinic alone - so am doing everything I can - not to let his shouting get me down!! Retrospect it was quite nice and calm going myself - and the staff were lovely and gave me extra lucky vibes too I think.

My Beta is next wednesday?? I can't figure even with the day 5 how come it is so soon - but am not complaining. Praying hard - please stick little baby STICK!!!!

Well ladies quick note, I had 4 embys transferred 3 were 8cell and 1 was 6 cell. It was not as painful as I thought and i just have some mild cramping. NOW begins that 2ww that everyone talks about. I have my first beta on the 16th. I might go crazy be then not having the courage to stay away from the HPT.

siouxsie--how are you feeling?

Back to bed for that bedrest thing.......talk to you guys soon.

BarbD- 3 8 cell is great! How many did you attempt to thaw?(4?) I am really curious on everyones thaw percentages. Good luck getting through the two week wait!

Siouxsie- thanks for making the list, it is really helpful.

Mel- I can't imagine what it is like not to have your husband supporting you through all of this. Hopefully he will come around when you get your BFP!

Everyone's betas seem so soon. My clinic schedules you for two weeks from the transfer date. My transfer will be the 5th and the beta on the 19th. I might have to break down and do an hpt around the 14th or 15th. Hope everyone's tww is going by quickly.

Mel--I am sorry that DH is not being a good sport. Maybe he is just scared and this is his way of not getting his hopes up. Some men just don't know how to show the correct emotion at the correct time. Lots of sticky vibes and baby dust your way.

brit--RE thawed 4 and put all 4 in, he says because of my age(37)I have a better chance with 4 and then hopefully 1 will stick.

smiles13/siouxsie-- have you guys broken down and did an HPT?

I don't really know if they were a 3 or 5 day blast, since after the ER they were frozen, but my first beta is 2/16. RE has be going into the office for b/w to check estrogen this friday. Has anyone else had there estrogen checked before beta?

Well my linning went back down to 5mm. So this cycle is done, unfortunatly. Our RE wants to start again next cycle. We just need to find the money for another round and the transfer. My husband is changing jobs and the insurance is different, instead of covering $14,000.00 lifetime, its more like $2,000.00. So back to the drawing board. I hope we can get it together before passover (in april). Anyone else have linning issues? Does move ment help/hinder, I know it's partially a blood flow thing. Good luck to everyone still in it! My thoughts, and prayers are with you.

We can't thaw any until we know I'm ready, but I'm curious how many will be ok.
