Went to the pedi yesterday and got great news! Our little one might not need a helmet after all. After spending one month not sleeping making sure he looks to the right and stretching his neck, the pedi said he could not believe the progress he made and that "you are probably sleeping with him strapped on to you!" yep- pretty much! But what a relief! He is 5 mos and weighs 17lbs so he is doing well.
I ran into an unforeseen issue. Our boy refuses the bottle and has a fit now. He has been breastfed and when he was 3 mos we gave him a bottle now and then of formula or bmilk, when I had my surgery he had bmilk previously frozen and no problem. So we haven't given him a bottle in a long time (usually babies like the bottle better cause it is easier and then don't wan tthe nipple). I thought no big deal. Now I was trying to use up my frozen supply to freeze more milk and prepare him for day care in May (right now MIL takes him in the am and I can do the mid morning bfeed). To my shock and surprise he refuses to take the bottle with bmilk (not formula), not even fresh bmilk! He has a fit and refuses, I tried it, DH tried it, MIL tried it... he will eat like a champ on the breast but nothing to do with bottle. Any suggestions? I even tried alternating breast and bottle to "fool" him. Pedi still wants me to do only bmilk for 6 mos then start rice cereal. He also said no milk until after 1 year old, is that what you heard also?
CT- I am crossing my fingers for you on the 12th, best of luck. I got swim diapers (not the disposable) for my guy and he loves them and they really contain the poop really well, I can send you the link if you want... not as cute as a bikini though for Ella! we go to brazil to see family

Loopie: I love the face in the 4th from the bottom. Too cute! I can not believe he just sat there and let you do that to him! Awesome! Also, those hats are so pretty. I wish style was still like that. I like antique things though. They are in such great condition for being older.
Rio: Great news on not needing a helmet!!! Awesome job you are doing there! As far as the bottle thing goes...I dunno! Try a sippie cup?? You might need to hold it still but it is not shaped like a nipple and maybe he will like that better? And yes, no cows milk until a year old. I think I even have to wait until they are 1 year and 2 months. I dunno yet. Also, I dunno about the whole Bmilk thing...never had that trouble as I had no milk!
Michele: Good to hear you! (Well, see your typing?) The only difference between stage one and two is the size of the jar. Mine do size 2 so I only have to open one jar. I know there are different foods but the pedi said go for it if they like it. And, they do! I still do mostly fruits and veggies though as I want them to be good eaters and not get my bad habits. And your little one eats a lot! lol. When she eats solids she still drinks? If mine eat a lot of solids, they only drink 2 or 3 oz. However, they are not great eaters at solids as they do not have it down totally.
We have to cut a hole into the nipple for them to get their milk out however we have to put rice in the bottle so it has to be bigger.
Loopie: I hope mine like the water like yours does. They like the bath so I am thinking they will like swimming.
Oh Michele: almost forgot to tell you good luck with your surgery and stimming!!!
Sorry I have not posted for awhile, life has been hectic. We just moved back into our house. We had been staying w/ MIL right before Katie was born and the three months after. We were hoping to sell our home during that time, so we figured it would be easier if we weren't there and worrying about getting me, the dogs and Katie our for any showings. Well, the market is so bad, we don't have a chance to sell. The comparables in the neighborhood are around $165,000.00 less than what we paid three years ago. So, we can't sell for near what we owe, so we have to make it work. It is hard, because we did split the mortgage with my mother, but since she passed last May, it has been harderI didn't think that I could stay there anyway because it hurt so bad to be there without her, but I am doing better now. I can't believe she will never hold Katie. She did know I was pregnant when she passed, so that is good. Sometimes Katie will look up in mid air and smile and I swear Mom is talking to her.
I just came back to work Monday, which stinks. I had 13 weeks off paid, a very nice benefit of my Company. One of the few good benefits. While I was off, we found out they cut our sick days down from 12 to 6. I work in the mortgage industry, so I have to just thankful to have a job.
Katie has been at daycare for the first time this week. I did cry the first day quite a few times. At 4:00, I am like "I am out of here"! The daycare lady is very nice and is taking good care of her, so I am thankful I found her.
Katie turned 3 months old yesterday. She probably weighs somewhere in the 12 lb range. When she had her 2 month check, she weighed 11 lbs 3 oz (50%), 23 1/4" long (85%) and head was in the 50%. They measured only a 1/4" height growth between 1 month and 2, but they must have measured wrong at 1 month. She was born 20.5" and 23" at 1 month and 23 1/4" at 2 months. But she grew out of many clothes between 1 month and 2 lengthwise, so doctor and I think they measured generously at 1 month.
She loves to smile and has started to laugh. She tries to talk all the time. She just really noticed one of the dogs the other day, she just started laughing at her. She does not use her hand too much yet, but she has been rubbing her eyes. Not sure when she will start playing w/ toys with her hands. Doctor told me they bat around at 4 months and grab usually at 5 months. I am trying not to read the what to expect each week, because I find myself worrying about what she is doing and all children are different.
Katie sleeps from 10:30 at night until 6:00 and I have to wake her then to feed her and get her ready for daycare. I can't ask for more than that. We feed her 6 oz five times a day, but she doesn't always eat that much. Sometimes it is 5 or 5 1/2 oz. Last night, she was so sleepy, she only ate 3 oz and I thought for sure she would wake up in the middle of the night hungry, but she didn't. I have a video monitor in our room. At MIL, she slept in cradle in our room, now at our house she is in her crib in her room. I leave sound on all night, and with her floppy voicebox, I do hear her most times, but I think the noisiness is starting to go away. When I can't hear anything, I turn on picture and will see her chest going up and down, so I can go back to sleep.
RIO - great news about your bean's neck. I don't blame you for having him with you and just feeding him in your bed, that seems so much more convenient. I never got my milk, so BF was not in the cards for me. I am glad you heard from Misty, I thought the worst as well. How are things with your SD?
SUGA - I bet it was hard to let Brooke and Mackenzie cry. You are brave, glad it is working out. I often wonder if I could have handled twins, you must certainly have your hands full, but you handle it great.
SASSY - I followed your story from the start, and I am glad things are going well. I can't even imagine triplets, you are amazing.
GECKO - Sorry everyone was sick, hopefully you all are feeling better. I got stomach flu about four weeks after I had Katie and my DH got it too. My MIL had to take charge of Katie for a day and a half. I felt so bad, I couldn't even hold her and we didn't want her to catch it. Luckily, she didn't.
LOOPIE - Are we ever getting warm weather, I am so tired of being cold. We moved out of my MIL's in Olney one day before she got a foot of snow. We only got a dusting at our house. Can't wait to get together with you and your little one.
JOMAE - Hope everything gets settled with the lactose test soon, so you can just know what you need to in regards to feeding Katie. It is hard when you are waiting to know.
WEEZIE - Sorry it has been so hard for you. I hope the attorney general gets things settled soon. You have had it rough with your DH's ex for so long.
CORNY - Glad Abby is doing so well after her surgery, she is getting so big.
I should be able to post more often now that I am back at work and have more access to a computer.

Hi girls, I am devastated. I spent all night up with my 14 year old buddy. I got him when he was 6 weeks old and not only was he my best buddy for all those years through a painful divorce and other things, he was my protector being 100 lbs of muscle, but a gentle soul to me. I had to put him to sleep this morning and my heart is breaking... He was in pain and cried all night, I think we both knew it was the end.

Rio I am so sorry! I can not imagine losing my puppies! They are like children to us! Gosh, I am so sorry. That is horrible. However, they are not in pain any more and are in a good place.
Dear Rio- I am so sorry for your loss. They are our children, but I think that one of the most loving things we can do for our pets is to let them pass away with dignity, as sad as it is for us, it is kindest to them, and I am sure they know how much we love them. take care
Thank you so much for all your kind words, I still cannot manage to stop crying and thinking of him slipping away. I am so happy I have my little guy here, he keeps me going and gives me those warm smiles.

Rio - I am so sorry for your loss. It was just last May that I had to put my little Lucy to sleep and it still feels like yesterday. I know it was the right thing to do, but it is so hard. They give us such unconditional love. Try to focus on the good things you shared and in the knowledge that you did the humane thing for him.

Suga i always thought the difference from stage one to two was the consistancy two being chunkier. Good news on the girls sleeping through you must feel so refreshed getting a whole nights sleep. sleep does good things for our sanity doesn't it
Hi Kbear great to hear from you what a bugger about your house but yep better to try and stick it out until the market picks up. sounds like your katie is as sweet as mine and that your doing a great job.
As for us Katies results came back she's not lactose intolerant so she's continueing the regular formula and thankfully seems to be doing ok all those initial symptoms are gone except that shes a chucky baby and she still takes a long time to feed 40minutes minimum but atleast she's drinking it i am happy with the results as i think it would have been a bigger problem if she was intolerant atleast this way once she gets on to solids she may be quicker to feed and not so fussy and i won't have to tell her she can't have ice cream and other dairy when shes older.
Katie now weighes 6.6kilos and is just under the 50 percent range except for her height which is the 37th so she'll be a little shorty taking after her aunty i think. Katie has been saying mum for a little while now she started saying it when she was crying but now says it to entertain herself which is so cute.

Jomae- Thanks for the sprinkle of sister or brother dust (hopefully sister dust). Of course I will be happy with either, but I think dh and I are both hoping for another girl, Ella is such a joy and we have everything already. Glad to hear Kaite is not lactose intolerant and doing better with her formula. Hopefully she will pick up the speed soon.
Rio _ am so sorry to hear about your loss. I call my animals my "fur babies." They really do become family and I am struggling with my 12 yr old dalmation right now. Her legs are very bad, she falls and slips alot, but doens't really seem to be in pain. We have her on prescription arthritis meds, but it isn't helping much. Every week I wonder if she will make it through the week. It makes it even harder now that Ella notices her and laughs at the dog all the time. Every time my grandma has to put a dog to sleep she swears she will never get anymore b/c it is just too hard to let go, but she always gets another. I guess the quote "it is better to have loved and lost, than to never have loved at all," applies here. Just know that you gave your buddy a loving home for so many years. I am sending you big hugs!
Kbear- good to hear from you. Sorry about having to go back to work, but it was really nice you got all that time off paid. My dh's job gave him just over 2 months paid and it was awesome. I hear ya about the mortgage market. I would love to get a bigger house, especially since we are trying for another baby, but we could never sell it for what we need now, so we will have to make it work. I am actually in the process of selling my jacuzzi and making a play porch for ella, because the toys have already taken over. I think, and hope, the market will bounce back in the next few years. Ella is just now getting the hang of playing and grabbing for things. She started trying at around 4-5 months, but the coordination was not there until recently, so I think your dr's timeframes sound about right.
Suga- where does the time go! It is crazy, they will be graduating high school before we know it! I can't believe I am already planning a first b-day party, and crawling and walking and talking and potty training are all right around the corner.

We are heading to Colorado when my next period comes for diagnostics. I am a bit nervous. I hope my ovarian reserve hasn't gotten worse. I think my mom is gonna come up here (Chicago) and stay with Evie overnight. I will miss her so much but it's only for one night.
Last night Evie went to her first art exhibit. My husband and a colleague of his sponsored a showing of a friend's work. He invited clients and friends. It was a very nice evening and Evie did a great job. She was out past 10! So, she slept late this morning which was nice for all of us.
People are so funny in front of a baby. Even people who you can tell would try to be "cool" under other circumstances just get all silly singing and dancing to make a baby smile. Really sweet.

Ok, I have no one else to talk to this about as I dish most things to my mom but she will say I am just being sensitive. Today, my husband stopped by the gas station on the way home from work and picked up a snack for himself. He states, oh I got you something...it was poptarts for breakfast (he gets home at 9:30AM by the way). I look at him like he is crazy because I need/want to lose weight and he knows this. However, they are my favorite kind. He bought 2 packs. Then later on he asks if I was going to eat his too, I stated, no why would I? He kept asking me this (now it was starting to bug me) making sure I would not eat his breakfast for tomorrow morning on his way to work. I look at him, kinda mad now, and state NO I AM NOT GOING TO EAT YOUR DANG POPTARTS! I AM NOT A HEFFER!!
THEN he reaches above the kitchen cabinets and pulls them down. HE WAS HIDING THEM FROM ME?!?!? I was pissed at this point. I got all mad at him and went into the other room. He knew what he had just done. So of course, I start crying. He states he is sorry, etc, etc. I tell him that that is so mean to do when I already hate my body and can not lose weight as fast as I want to. ESP. with this dang PCOS crap where it is almost impossible to lose weight. Seriously, I am still upset about this. I have horrible self esteem at the moment because of my fat and "twin skin." I mean he apologized and I can tell he really is sorry about it. I know he was not thinking. But still. When I complain about my weight day in and day out now I feel as though he is calling me fat.
He was in pain and cried all night, I think we both knew it was the end.
