Hey ladies!!!! Sorry I've been MIA, its been a really ROUGH few weeks. Gracie was in the hosiptal for 3 days for bad reflux. She would throw up, choke on it and scream for hours from the burn. Poor thing was horse so when she screamed it came out squeeky. She is on zantac now so she is much better. She still throws up and chokes, but its not as bad and she doesnt have that burning feeling anymore, or at least we think because she is not screaming anymore. I am having breast milk issues from being in the hosiptal and stressed. I dont know how to get my supply up and going again. Not to mention Gracie has her days and nights confused so we are not sleeping!!! Any advice on that would be great!!!!

So, I never got around to telling my birth story....

On Friday the 27th I started getting back contractions at 9:30am, since it was all in the back I wasn't timing them. By 11am I started timing at 10 mins apart, but again, they were all in the back. By 1pm I
called the Dr's office because they were 8 mins apart at that point and I wasn't sure because again, still all in the back and I felt no discomfort anywhere. At 3pm I had not heard back from the dr's office so I called them back because they were 6 mins apart. They told me to go straight to the hospital because I was in labor. I called DH to come home at 3:10, by 3:20 my contractions were 2 mins apart. I called DH back to see where he was, there was an accident and he was stuck in traffic!!! By 3:30 they were 1min apart and very painful (all still in my back), so I hopped in the car and drove myself. I had to keep pulling over to the side of the road because some contractions were lasting 4 mins long and causing my hands and face to go numb. I got to the hospital at 4pm, practically crawling into the hospital, some guy jumped out of his truck to help me. They got me in a room and checked me at 4:10, I was 4cm and fully effaced. At 4:30 my water broke, by 5pm I was in the delivery room getting a narcotic because you have to have IV fluids before the epidural. At 5:30 I was 7cm and causing everyone to rush around in panic trying to get me the epidural and completely registered. At 7pm I stalled at 8cm (figures!!) and my contractions backed down to 3-5 mins apart, so they gave me some pitocin to get things going again. At 10 pm I was ready to go, but couldnt because I had developed a fever and the baby's heart rate was up, my blood pressure went sky rocket and my pulse was extremely high. By 11pm the Dr came in and said we cant wait you need to start pushing. Well, at 11:10 I had to stop pushing because my temp was up higher, so they pumped me full of antibiotics and I got to start pushing again about 11:30, Gracie was born just over an hour later, after the epidural had worn off everywhere but my back. So I still couldnt feel my contractions, but I felt everything else!! That lovely ring of fire!!! I had a two degree tear because Gracie didnt come out slow, as my SIL said "once her head was coming out and you saw her nose, she came shooting out like a rocket". Gracie also had a fever of 101.5, turns out there was an infection in the placenta which was causing her and my fever. Thet gave her rounds of anitibiotics for 3 days and all was well.

Once I can figure out how to post pictures I will. Every one, every where we go rants and raves about her blond hair. Its funny!!!

Sorry I've missed so much of everyones journey. I hope all is well with everyone and your LO's are growing, eating and sleeping good. Congrats to all the new mommies and babies!!!

Dakota - OMG, I cannot believe how much you and Gracie have been through! I'm thinking about you both and hope everything is going well. Take care.

Audrey, DH and I are all doing well. My milk finally came in around day 7 and Audrey not only put on the 11oz she lost in the first few days but put on another 1lb and 1oz :) This was as of last Friday during her 2 week checkup, so I'm sure she's gained even more since then. She's eating every 1-2 hours, especially at night, so she's been going through a growth spurt. She's not quite adjusted to her days/nights, but we're getting there.

I hope everyone is doing great and the babies are growing like crazy!

Angram- whohoo on your milk supply and glad that little audrey is eating it up. Little Gracie loves to cluster feed as well, those 1-2 hours kills at night, but when she does that it only last a few days then she goes bakc to 2.5-3hrs for a few days then back again. Gracie is also mixed with days/nights. How are you adjusting with that?

Dakota - Audrey is sort of figuring out the days/nights, which is very helpful. She sleeps for about 1 1/2-2 hours, eats, then goes back to sleep. Now that her nights are a little better, she's started to get fussy during the day. She just wants to be held all of the time, and as soon as I put her down she starts to freak out. I've been told (and read) that it's not possible to spoil them for the first 3 months and that I should pick her up if that's what she wants, so I hope they're right. I couldn't let her just lay there and cry anyway, it breaks my heart. She still seems to cluster feed during the day, so guess it's normal and she's just continuing to grow. Good luck with Gracie, I hope she gets her days/nights figured out really soon!

Angram- Everything I've read and heard also states you cant spoil a newborn, but DH thinks that I spoil her and should let her cry, but I cant. No way!! I let her fuss sometimes before she starts to cry, but once the scream kicks in I pick her up. I try to tell DH that once she's almost 3 months we can start that routine where you let then cry a few mins at a time and increase the time frame, but not right now.
I've been keeping Gracie awake for 30 mins longer after each feeding until she has a meltdown then I put her down. The last 3 nights have been a huge improvement. Last night was the best!! She went down at 9:30 and slept for 2-3 hours each time and was only up for 30mins-1hour for feedings until 7:30 this morning. I must have really wore her out yesterday. I read to let them see lots of light during the day and last night was the first night we went to bed without the lamp on, but I had the night light on. SO that may have helped.
Gracie doesnt like to be put down either. Its hard because when you have 5 mins you think "ok, should I nap, eat or shower". Now that DH is back to work I dont have that relief anymore. I have a carrier I use during the day to get little things done, but of course I cant use it to nap or shower.
Audrey must be growing like crazy if she is cluster feeding. When Gracie does that she gains alot in a few days. I think she's gained 1.46 since being home from the hosiptal. She sure is getting a belly!!!

Hope all is well with everyone, its been pretty quite lately. Everyone busy with their babies!!!

Hey everyone--

Glad to hear everyone is home and happy with their babies! SOme of your sleeping habits seem a little rough, but hang in there, it gets better. We switched Jack from regular formula to soy becasue he was allergic to cow milk protein....he is doing much better. He has a little constipation and hard stool that we are dealing with now, but that's getting better too. He is sucha good baby! He is now sleeping 3-5 hours....usually he wakes up in three and I just go in a give him his pacifier and he goes back to sleep for 1-2 hours. It is great. But it took awhile to ge there, jack will be 8 weeks tomorrow..I can't beleive it! We are getting some pictures taken today. Hopefully they turn out good!
Dakota- I definitely think the dark makes a difference. Jack will not nap in his crib but has no problem at night, it has to be the light!
I agree with not being able to spoil them before 3 months, but I have found with Jack that he gets fussy when he is tired. So I do let me cry out a couple times before I go to him, and half the time he goes to sleep. I think its just so different with every baby.

Hope everyone has a good weekend!

Neffi, we switched Zariya from regular enfamil to soy milk also, but found that the powder kind made her constipated....her stool became hard and she rarely pooped. But, when we tried the ready-to-use kind, her stool went back to normal. Just a tidbit of info in case the same works for little Jack.

I'm sure everyone's busy with their little one(s). Does anyone plan to start using the "Parent After Treatment" thread or is everyone staying here?

IMblessed-- what kind of formula do you use? I am using Parents Choice because from what I've read, there is no difference between that and the major brands....but I don't think they make the pre-mixed. And how much do you pay? Right now we are mixing 1 tsp of Karo syrup in bottles 2x/day. So far it is a little softer, but it is still completely formed like a tootsie roll. He is still going at least once a day so I'm going to give it another day before I call the doctor again.

Oh-- Jacks pictures are priceless! I can not believe how well he did and how great the pictures turned out! I am sooo happy with them. I won't get them for 2-3 weeks though.
