Hi ladies! I'm 6dpt and I'm going INSANE. (6 more days until my beta on 4/14.) I'm pretty down today and getting mentally tired of being so hopeful and optimistic. I feel like I need to start preparing myself for it not working. Of course I'm not having any symptoms to speak of. A little crampy here and there, but I'm pretty sure that's the progesterone--it's also probably my mind too.

After our pow wow with the billing office at the clinic yesterday, I've been pretty down. Having to pay for everything out of pocket makes it a little more dire that I need this to work. We don't just have another $4K laying around, but I'll be damned if I won't go for another try in a month or two if it doesn't work.

I need positive vibes sent my way because it's a tough day today for some reason!

Good Morning Sara!
Right now you need to be stressfree, and positive. If it doesnt work, you'll think what's the best thing to do next. But for now, you need to take all that negative things out of your mind. Try to keep you mind busy.

Take care,

Good Morning ladies--

I just cant wait for the next couple weeks when the BPFs start coming in! Well my phone rang at 8am and it was the embryologist...she said she had been thinking about me all night and thinks we should wait and do the transfer on friday and thaw some of the frozen embies we have to transfer along with our one fresh. The frozen are all blasts, but they were ICSI embies and we think that they are no good, but I guess it won't hurt. I am okay with this becasue I am all for 5 day tranfers....I feel like then if it doesnt make it til friday, it probably wouldnt have made it in me either.....so I wait....

ok, I am going to try and catch up with a lot of you now...sorry in advance if I miss you, these days have been crazy and the next few weeks will be too. My clinic is a half an hour commute, and on the days I tutor, I have to do that drive twice in one day!

sbr- I am sending all the positive vibes I have your way. I also had no sysmptoms except for mild cramping and bloating, and I know what you mean about being tired of being optomistic. At some point during the 2ww, we all realize that a bfn is still a posibility, but really all we can do is try to keep hoping. And I understand the money too. This is my last chance with insurance, but if it doesn't work, I will do everything I can to do an FET in a month (if I get some frosties). We are freezing this time (out of pocket) in preparation for the posssibility of needing to try again. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you.

latino- you are right, a lot of betas around the same time. I hope to see a lot of bfp's the week before my ER, it will give me inspiration!

kline- I wish I knew more about the technical stuff, like the grading and quality of embryos...I have learned a lot on these boards, but I still don't quite understand all of the grading, since I know almost all clinics are different. I hope your one is the fighter...and good luck for ET tomorrow. As far as injections, I am sure I could remember how to do it, but I can't even remember what I ate for lunch yesterday, and with something as important as stims, I figured it would be best to just take a refresher. DH and Ella are coming with me. DH does the injections for me most of the time, so I want him there, and the nurses just love seeing the baby!

hazel- I am officially all systems go! I start on friday, we will be about a week apart. My protocol is 375 units of follistim with one vial of menopur. And then I start ganerelix about halfway through to prevent ovulation. It is a similar protol from last time, but higher follistim to start. Last time they upped my follistim part way through, so this time they are just starting high. Remember it is about quality....and 6 embryos would be great! I wish I knew how many possible follies I have, I hear everyone hear say they counted at baseline, but if my clinic counts, they don't tell me. They told me they were just looking for cysts. Oh well...I trust them.

babyluv- I really don't know much about grading, but I think 4 cells on day 2 is good. I think they are supposed to divide each day, which mean you would have had 8 cells on day 3, and that is what I had for my last transfer that worked. I do hope you get your bfp this time! Try not to over analyze to much and let nature take it's course, it is out of your hands...stay positive and relax as much as you can!

sportsmom- I am not even sure if my clinic expects my af to come. They didn't say a word about it, and I was told to start friday. I think last time I did not get af before stims either. I took my last bcp monday night, so if I were to get af, it would be tomorrow or friday probably, but I will start stims either way on friday.

Neffi- good luck on ET. You are a brave soul, but I do hope it works for you! I would probably do the same thing as you, and I totally understand insurance driving everything, it stinks it has to be that way, but that is the way it is. I am praying I get a lot of embies to freeze, since I would hate to pay all the moeny to freeze and only have one or two for a future FET. We will be thinking about you tomorrow. UPDATE- I just saw your new post, and I think waiting till friday and trying with some of your blasts will be good...good luck!

kristyb- welcome and good luck with your retreival tomorrow. It is really good you love your dr, I think that is important. Let us know how everything goes.

carolyn- we are anxiously waiting for fert report. Congrats on donor and 11 embies! I hope you are enjoying your time in prague. Let us know updates when you can.

Ok- like I said- it is official, I will start on Friday. I can not believe I am finally starting. It will be a hectic few weeks. I am not looking forward to stims again, and ER and the eventual crummy feelings during pregnancy if it works, but I look at Ella and I know that it will all be worth it if it works. I think it stinks we have to go through all of this, but it was the cards we were dealt...and I just accept it as a task or mission to complete. I am giving you guys all of this support and telling you to stay positive, but I know you will all be doing the same for me soon...I know when I start my POAS marathon and get negatives, I will start to get down, but you will all help me keep the faith! I will try and check in again later.

latiniosunshine, glad to see someone else is braving the self-injected PIO! :) DH does mine every other night except when he's on his 4 days off I let him do it every night. Normally I inject myself on my right hip and he does the left. Since he was home last night, he did the right hip. It hurt like hell!!! :o It hurt from the time the needle went in, to the PIO slowly going in and when he withdrew the needle. I don't knowi if he just hit a bad spot or what! Up until last night most had been pretty easy. When he withdrew the needle I was bleeding a lot too. He always checks for blood by drawing back a little as we were instructed to and this time there was no blood in the syringe. Not sure why I was bleeding so much. I'm sure he didn't do anything wrong, but I think I'll continue to do my own on that side at least  The funny part is, all of this happened after he proclaimed "I'm becoming an injection pro!"

Hey Girls a little update on myself-
It's official that I didn't ovulate this month (which is good), so I am set for my FET. It will either be this Friday or Sunday, depending on how they look on Friday. We are hoping to go until Sunday for a day 5 blast transfer. I got the call today from embryologist, they thawed 6 of my frosties and 5 made it. One little guy fell pray to the dreaded freeze and thaw.
Last night was my first PIO shot! I am out of town visiting family without DH, so I did it myself. Luckily it went really well and didn't really hurt at all. I was pleasantly surprised. I had read Cynthia's nightmare story before doing it, so I was even more scared, but I just did it without thinking and was all done. I only have to do 1cc for two days, then on Thursday, I do 2 cc the rest of the time. I'm sure that it will hurt a little more, since it's more fluid going in a small space.
 Tonight I have to do my left side by myself! PLEASE ADVISE ON HOW TO DO THIS...for those that have done it. Any tricks are appreciated.
 My two bits of advise for PIO- I read somewhere that icing the area isn't the best, since it causes your veins to contract and get small, thus decreasing blood flow to the area. Also, it can make the PIO get thick as it goes in. Basically, in the end, you have more chance of lumping since it takes longer to absorb.
I am also putting the progesterone up against my body for a little before I draw it out of the vial (in bra is easiest). This makes it a little thinner without hurting/damaging the solution. Heat to bum afterwards is a great idea. Opens up vessels to allow the med to be absorbed.
 VERY IMPORTANT :!: :!:
Talked to RE at recent appt about how people on this forum feel the progesterone makes you cramp. He said that is very untrue. He said that progesterone should make your uterus relax, that is one of the reasons they give it. He was surprised. Anyway, just wanted to let people know that their cramping should not be associated with progesterone.
 Congrats to all the BFP's- please follow up with us as you progress.
 Cynthia- Thanks for all your advise and help with the PIO stuff. The fact that you are doing it yourself gave me the courage to try it last night and I'm glad I did. My mom was willing to do it, but I am one of those people that just likes to do things myself. I'm glad I did, since it wasn't that bad. My bums not even sore today, but I know it will be after doing this for a while. I'm sure I'll hit sore spots once in a while too, and get more pain. I was surprised how little the needle hurt going in, not really at all, it looks so daunting.
I was so happy you got BFP on your HPT!!! Makes it more worth doing the PIO shots.
Well ladies, have a great day, and PLEASE ADVISE ON LEFT SIDED SELF INJECTED PIO SHOTS.
Thanks Melanie

I need to start injecting on the left side as well. My right side is getting sore. All the REs are different. My RE told me to ice the area before injecting the PIO and its worked liked a dream.

Melanie- wow, good friday or Easter huh? It always amazes me that the ivf world never stops, the rest of the business world will be closed all weekend, but RE's and clinics are there no matter what! Good luck and let us know what happens.

For all those with progesterone questions, I found this online:

http://www.drugs.com/sfx/progesterone-side-effects.html

It lists different types of progesterone and common side effects. Cramps are listed as common for many of the different types of progesterone. Mel- maybe the type you are on is not supposed to cause cramping??

tabatha- i don't think so. 11dpt, if you had a 3dt would be 14 dpo (days past ovulation), and 99% of betas are 14dpo...if you had a 5dt, you would be even furthe along. Have you done any more hpt's? Are they still positive and getting darker?

and btw- can you believe it is snowing here right now! Ugh, I thought it was supposed to be spring!
