Hey Girls a little update on myself-
It's official that I didn't ovulate this month (which is good), so I am set for my FET. It will either be this Friday or Sunday, depending on how they look on Friday. We are hoping to go until Sunday for a day 5 blast transfer. I got the call today from embryologist, they thawed 6 of my frosties and 5 made it. One little guy fell pray to the dreaded freeze and thaw.
Last night was my first PIO shot! I am out of town visiting family without DH, so I did it myself. Luckily it went really well and didn't really hurt at all. I was pleasantly surprised. I had read Cynthia's nightmare story before doing it, so I was even more scared, but I just did it without thinking and was all done. I only have to do 1cc for two days, then on Thursday, I do 2 cc the rest of the time. I'm sure that it will hurt a little more, since it's more fluid going in a small space.

Tonight I have to do my left side by myself! PLEASE ADVISE ON HOW TO DO THIS...for those that have done it. Any tricks are appreciated.

My two bits of advise for PIO- I read somewhere that icing the area isn't the best, since it causes your veins to contract and get small, thus decreasing blood flow to the area. Also, it can make the PIO get thick as it goes in. Basically, in the end, you have more chance of lumping since it takes longer to absorb.
I am also putting the progesterone up against my body for a little before I draw it out of the vial (in bra is easiest). This makes it a little thinner without hurting/damaging the solution. Heat to bum afterwards is a great idea. Opens up vessels to allow the med to be absorbed.

VERY IMPORTANT
Talked to RE at recent appt about how people on this forum feel the progesterone makes you cramp. He said that is very untrue. He said that progesterone should make your uterus relax, that is one of the reasons they give it. He was surprised. Anyway, just wanted to let people know that their cramping should not be associated with progesterone.

Congrats to all the BFP's- please follow up with us as you progress.

Cynthia- Thanks for all your advise and help with the PIO stuff. The fact that you are doing it yourself gave me the courage to try it last night and I'm glad I did. My mom was willing to do it, but I am one of those people that just likes to do things myself. I'm glad I did, since it wasn't that bad. My bums not even sore today, but I know it will be after doing this for a while. I'm sure I'll hit sore spots once in a while too, and get more pain. I was surprised how little the needle hurt going in, not really at all, it looks so daunting.
I was so happy you got BFP on your HPT!!!

Makes it more worth doing the PIO shots.
Well ladies, have a great day, and PLEASE ADVISE ON LEFT SIDED SELF INJECTED PIO SHOTS.
Thanks Melanie
