Hi ladies! I've been reading all of your posts, but just haven't written anything in a while. It's been pretty crazy over here!
I've continued to go to weekly doctor's appointments with ultrasounds. We've been so spoiled to see our 3 little ones so often! Apparently, it's pretty tricky to doppler 3 different heartbeats at every visit, hence all the ultrasounds.
I had an in-depth ultrasound last week that revealed that all the babies are growing great. They all have structurally normal organs (as much as it can be evaluated at 14 weeks). The identical twins are each 3 oz and the fraternal twin is 4 oz. The identicals share a placenta and have to compete for nutrients, so it is okay if they are a little smaller than my baby c. It was still too early to evaluate my cervix, so i go back to check that out in another week. If I need a cerclage, I would need to get it pretty soon and preferably before we fly out of here!
The only wrinkle in that ultrasound was that no one has been able to find a membrane separating the identical twins. This means that there is a chance that both are in the same amniotic sac, which is a rare and dangerous condition. They can easily get tangled up in each other's cords and actually cut off the blood supply to one or both, at any time, without causing me to have any symptoms of this happening. The good news is that I have read that many, many twin and triplets are thought to have this problem, but later the doctors or techs DO eventually find a membrane. I'm holding on to that fact with white knuckles, as the mortality rate for this type of twins, called mono-mono or momo, is 50%! If one twin dies, most likely, the other twin will also die. The other thing about this condition is that there's not much anyone can do to prevent a cord problem from occurring. At least I won't stress about not doing enough or doing too much. I know if something happens, it won't be my fault.
In the middle of all of this, DH and I are also in the middle of a trans-pacific move! Our house is pretty much empty, just full of old uncomfortable loaner furniture. NOT looking forward to unpacking all of our junk on the other side of all this and trying to get organized, all while 20 weeks prego with triplets. AAAAGGGGHHHH!!!!
Changes I've noticed recently... It's impossible for me to sneeze and not pee on myself, regardless if I just finished peeing 2 minutes ago... My belly is big enough that strangers are commenting to me now-- I guess I'm past that iffy stage where people aren't sure... After 2pm, my belly is SO hard and taut, that I feel like I swallowed a boulder... I've read that I'm supposed to be peeing less, have more energy and be more comfortable now that it's the second trimester. Guess that doesn't apply to triplets.
Ian and Wonder: hope the spotting stops soon! Seems like your little beans are fine, but it doesn't do much for the mommy's mental health. Almost impossible to enjoy pregnancy as an infertile

Too busy worrying.
Charr: Not feeling any movement yet.. that I can tell. Hope the nausea is totally gone by now.
Aspot: Are you having the crazy tight belly thing too?
aims: Hope you're feeling better!
Hello and fabulous weekend wishes to Excited-in-LA and anyone else that I've missed!
