Suga--Yeah for Mackenzie crawling! That's such a fun age....I do miss it! I'm sure her sister will follow soon enough. Ellie was my first crawler. Braeden didn't seem to mind a bit! Oh, those mellow genes he has!

Liz--Congrats on your babies! I oh so remember those early days. They are SO SO hard! Honestly, I would consider another baby except I dread those early weeks! (Isn't that just horrible?) My kiddos took pacis (still do) at bedtime. I don't remember how early I started giving them to them though. I avoided them early on since I was bfing, but I did give in! They do need that time to suck on something. I remember countless nights getting up to retrieve their pacifiers. All I can say is, it will get better. They will get better at keeping them in their mouths. They will get better at sleeping without them when they fall out. I promise! Just think--one day, they will run to their bedroom to sneak a paci when you aren't looking! (Like Ellie did today!) Hang in there!

Suga~ Isn't it so crazy when they can get away?!?!? It's just the beginning of a whole new world but it's so much fun. . . . .once you have put up the crystal! :) Congrats to her for sure! Mine crawled close together but walked almost 2 months apart. Twins are so different at some things and so much the same at others.

Liz~ Congrats! I'm trying to think back and if I recall correctly, mine weren't big into paci's for a while. My daughter took one early on but if it fell out that was it. I never even entertained the idea of putting it back. Mean mommy! She gave hers up early too and at about 8 months my son decided it was a good deal and now takes one when he goes to sleep. Although he throws his out and no one could find it in the middle of the night if they even tried! :) My daughter now sucks her thumb when she is falling asleep and I think I would rather deal with a paci. She rarely does it when she's not falling asleep but I can take the paci away and well, I think I'll let her keep the thumb! Good luck! Maybe try different paci's. There was a playtex paci that stayed in like GOLD for us! The nuk ones have always fallen out but still did the trick?

Well, only a few weeks left! My OB/GYN said on Friday that with all these contractions I could go any time! YEAH! I had tons of early contractions with the twins though as well so with my luck I'll go right to the end!

Have a great night everyone! Bloggin, facebook, family time. . . jeez! Time flies!

Hello All,

We had our 2nd us on 6/4/09. My wife was 10wks and 1 day. There are def 2 little babbies in there. Heart rates were great. 158 and 174 respectively. We were told the 174 was due to activity. We could actually see them moving! Really exciting. I guess around 13 wks we should be able to determine the sex(s). That is something my wife and I are def going to do!

Best To All,

scheduled c-sections

Post by cymplicity27 »

Hello everyone!

I am currently 12 wks preggers with twins and I have a question for you guys. For those of you who had scheduled c-sections, what week did your OBs schedule them for? I've been reading on the net that most were scheduled about 3-4 weeks before their due dates. Is this the norm? Also, how long did babies have to stay in the hospital afterwards?

Thanks!

Cymplicity27 and davidjohn1973~ CONGRATULATIONS!!! Twins are fabulous and so worth all the work! We have been quite the facebook crowd as of lately but I'm sure there will be plenty of us bounding back and forth here to help ya all out! :)
Most OB's don't tell you what the sex of the babies are until the 20 week anaotmy scan but my OB was able to tell at 15 weeks when we did a nonscheduled u/s. They weren't sure because it was so early but they did turn out to be right. So hopefully if you both are finding out what the sex' are you won't have too long to wait!
I don't know about your OB but here they won't schedule a delivery before 38 weeks with twins unless there is a reason. My OB said that at 38 weeks I could deliver no matter what but my babies ended up coming at week 34 due to PTL and a placenta abruption. I actually went into hospital bedrest at 32 weeks because of full blown labor but we held off another 14 days and the babies only spent 16 days in the NICU. The loner they can cook the better!
I hope you both have a great pregnancy, or your wife, and if there is anything this group can do to help you out please do not hesitate to ask!
Take care and congrats!!!!

could someone please tell me how to get a ticker to work? I tried lilypie but it still isn't working. Which thread do you pick? Once you cut it you just paste it under your profile for signature right? I know it shouldn't be this difficult. Thanks

Hi Everyone,

I'm currently 14 weeks pregnant with twins. I was just told I have partial placenta previa. I've had some spotting last week and then more bright red spotting this week. I went yesterday to see my OB and he said it was still from the previa. The u/s showed the babies were fine. My OB put me on bedrest for the remainder of this week. Well, tonight when I went to the bathroom, I passed a quarter size clot. After passing the clot, I wiped and it was a very small amount of old blood. Has anyone experienced this? I called the on-call number and talked to the nurse. She felt like I was fine as long as I didn't have cramping or a lot of bleeding. She just told me to check in with the office tomorrow to let them know how I'm doing. Otherwise if it gets worse to go to the ER.

Aims327~ Right around the same time I had the exact same thing with the twins. Sounds exactly like my own experience other than the blood I then wiped was red and not old. I rested and made sure not to lift ANYTHING even sort of heavy for 24-48 hours and all was fine. It was scary for me too but apparently normal. Try not to worry! So easy to say right?!?
Best wishes and take care~

Thanks Kimberly for sharing your experience with me. It does help to know others have went through similar experiences. After my last post, I expected to keep spotting since I passed the clot and now the spotting is completely gone. It's almost like I was supposed to pass the clot. I've definitely been taking it easy. My doctor took me off work the rest of this week.

Kimberly, aims and I have been discussing this for the past week since we've been experiencing similiar things with the bleeding and clots. I'm also glad to hear you say that this is common with twins.

Wouldn't it be nice if there was a little warning about this in the beginning?! All you're ever told is bright red blood is BAD...a lot of bleeding is BAD. When you wake up to a ton of blood and 2 half dollar size clots of course your first thought is you've lost one or both your babies. Although I still would have freaked out, it would have been nice to have in the back of my mind "maybe this is just that common thing they told me about". Of course after the fact I'm told by my OB "it's common with twins...don't worry".

Anyway, that's why I love this board! You ladies are just full of information and I truly appreciate it :D
