Hi There Everyone - Anyone going through FET

Post by Heather B »

It's been nearly a year since I logged onto the site. It's always lovely to hear everyones messages and to see how they're getting on. I don't know if anyone remembers me from before, but last April hubby and I went through ICSI, unfortunately it didn't work. Luckily we had 2 frozen embroys stacked away and are going to through FET in the middle of April.

I thought we could do it on our own and was a bit reluctant to log on again but when I read everyones encouraging words I thought, why not. It's always great to help or be helped by people going through the same thing.

Anyone out there who has only 2 eggs or embroys that have survived, never say never! A girl I was chatting to last year had only 2 eggs that survived and ended up pregnant!

Well, I'll not bore anyone too much, but it would be lovely to hear from anyone out there or if I can be of any help.

Hope to speak to you all soon,

Love Heather B.

HI Heather
I'm a big FET fan!
I have had two FET cycles now after hyperstimming on my IVF cycle, they couldn't put any fresh embies in, so froze all five of them.
My first FET cycle was a positive, unfortunately I miscarried, but that's just the roll of the dice unfortunately, nothing to do with FET.
My second cycle was also positive, I have my first scan tomorrow, so have everything crossed!
What I love about FET is the more relaxed approach. I had natural FET because I ovulate, so there was no drugs, no injections (except after embie transfer), I just went for transfer then waited the obligitary two weeks. I understand form this web site that for women who don't ovulate, that you take the similar IVF "ripening" drug to stimulate ovulation, then the embies get popped back in.
FET has a high success rate Heather, my doctor said to me that once the embies survive the defrost, there is as good a chance as a fresh cycle. Some embies don't make it, but so far all of mine have.
Look forward to hearing your news Heather.
Belinda :D

Hi Heather

I am doing FET at the moment(drugs assisted-my clinic does not do natural cycle)

I did a FET in Sept due to OHSS on fresh cycle (all embies frozen) but unfortuantly it was -ve....boo hoo :(

There are quite a lot of girls on this site who are pregnant from FET so they do work!!

Anyway,
Good luck with your tmt and remember it only takes 1!!!

Anyone going through fet

Hi,
I have had 3 frozen embryo transfers but with no success as yet.I always try to think of them as an extra bonus and another chance to get the results we all want.I had two natural FET and one with drugs and found the worst thing was having to wait to see if they survived the thawing out process but at least one always survived.Good luck with your treatment and hope that you get a positive result.

ALL FET FRIENDS

Post by Heather B »

Hi There everyone, sorry for taking so long to respond but we went away for a few days after I last posted on the site.

It was great to hear from everyone. Bel B, I really hope your scan went well a couple of days ago and so wish things will work well for you this time.

S J Brown, sorry to hear things didn't work out for you, good luck the next time round.

Traci, thanks for your response. It's always nice to know people are wishing you well.

Well, not much more news with myself, still sniffing and have now started with the HRT Tablets. To be honest I don't know why the clinic didn't put me on a natural cycle because I ovulate regularly and have no known problems, but I read somewhere that if they want to take control over the transfer date, they have to do this via drugs (agh)!!!!

Anyway, sorry again for not responding sooner, hope you're all keeping well and thanks for posting on this site.

Hopefully speak to you all soon,

Heather B.

Hi There, sorry Nicki, forgot to thank you for responding also, you've been through a lot also, what with 3 FET, as you say the worst thing is the waiting. I only have 2 embroys so hopefully at least one will make it, but never say never. Good luck to you also, speak to you soon, Heather b.

Hi Heather, Hi everyone

Like you Heather I had ICSI last year (October 2003) but it failed, and I was devastated. We had 5 embies frozen, and so in Jan this year we had them "defrosted". It is very very nerve racking waiting for that call to see if they have survived, luckily all 5 of mine pulled through, and my consultant decided to transfer the 2 best grade 1's, the rest were grade 1/2's

I went for the natural cycle, and must admit like Belinda says it is far more relaxing than an IVF cycle, only drug I took was pregnyl 36 hours before I had my two embies put back.

Unfortunately, they didn't give me a positive, but I think after all my reading and research my body just wasn't healthy enough. This time around (ICSI scheduled for June) I am going for health big time! So we'll see.

Good luck for your transfer - I will be checking this thread to see how you do.

1 failed ICSI, 1 failed FET, next treatment starts in May with EC on 1 June 2004, hoping for a 2005 baby!

first FET

Post by Wendy »

Hiya, I'm doing an FET drug assisted cycle hoping for my two frosties to be popped back in next week (assuming they survive) off for a scan tomorrow to see if the drugs have made my womb lining nice and thick for them then doc will give me a day. I've never had frozen embryos before and it really does feel like I'm getting a 'free' go as its no where near as stressful as all I have to do is take a pill 3 times a day, so I'm getting quite hopeful. I was pretty down hearted after my ivf failed in feb as my embyoes were ' magnificent' so the doc said and I was doing eveything I did 2 yrs ago when we had a successful ivf outcome. I just thought well if the fresh superb embies can't make it how will these poor little frozen ones, but as it gets closer and seeing how many girls have become pregnant with frosties, I'm feeling far more positive.
Keep in touch. I don't get on here as often as I'd like but I'd like to chat to those of you doing FET this month or soon.

FET

Hi Wendy & everyone,

Sorry I haven't posted in so long but we've been off work this week. Wendy, your situation sounds very similar to my own but to be honest, I'm finding this time round, after the first unsuccessful ICSI to be more stressful. I don't know if the drugs are playing a contributory factor but I've been very up and down this time, also not very positive which really isn't like me.

Anyway, I hope your scan went well. I was up on Sunday 11th there. Everything seemed fine, although we had a little nurd of a consultant (who really needs a lesson in people skills). He more or less said that the more positive you are, the more anecdotal this could prove to be. Well I don't know about you but after the first escapade, when we were both really positive and nothing happened, I think the second time round you're a lot more realistic but still hopeful about the situation.

Have you found yourself very up and down? My transfer is on Thursday 15th April and like you we only have two. I think the most difficult bit is waiting to see if they survive but I'm feeling a little more positive today and have simply taken the attitude (what will be will be). It's out of our control but hopefully one of the wee embes will stick... - never say never.

Well I wish you and everyone so much luck.

I promise to keep more in touch in the future.

Keep Smiling,

Bye for now
