Hi Moms,

I have a question for you all. Declan is sick with a double ear infection. He had a cold last week and started running a fever over the weekend. Anyway, since it took three different antibiotics to cure his last ear infection, the doctor decided to give him a really strong one right from the start. It is called Augmentin. Anyone used it? Declan is getting better but it is upsetting his tummy and he doesn't want to eat much and he is getting diarrhea one hour after each dose. Poor baby. Seems like the cure is just as bad as the illness. I don't know if he can tolerate it for the full ten days. Any ideas?

Hey everyone!

Glad to here all the little ones are doing well.

Gecko- how are you feeling? Is this pregnancy the same so far or different in anyway?

rio- my clinic does 3 day transfers also, only 5 do for selection, like in the case someone has a lot but only wants to do one transfer and no more. RE says no difference in success rates for him.

Ella had her 1 year check up today. She was 30.5 inches (90th percentile) and 18 lbs 3 oz (15th percentile). Her lungs and vocal chords also worked fine, because she screeched for her 3 shots and finger prick. We were so nervous about vaccinations today, they just make me nervous, I guess I read too much about the, and then on top of it, it was recommended she get her first flu shot today. The dr gave us the option of spreading everything out if it made us feel better, but we just did them all. He also told us to start switching her to milk by putting a few ounces in each bottle and slowly transitioning away from formula. We have to go back in a month for 2nd flu shot, and then at 15 months for next round of vaccines. She is napping now, I bet she is going to be a crank pot later!

CT - wow, you have one tall, skinny girl on your hands! Sounds like she is doing great! And I am praying for you and a great FET cycle this month!

We don't have our 1 year appointment until the end of Sept and I can't wait to start transitioning Abby to milk, but feel like I should wait until we see the doc again. Such big milestones these babies are hitting. It's just so hard to believe. Anyone walking yet? Abby stands without holding onto anything and cruises all over the furniture, but hasn't taken any unassisted steps yet. Soon, I hope!

As for my pregnancy I am 16 weeks along and seeing the peri every 2 weeks. So far everything is still going smoothly, although I was given the offical "start taking it easy" talk, just because of my history with preterm labor. As for the gender, we tried to get a good peek today, but this baby is making things difficult. From what we saw (or didn't see, I should say), we think it's another girl! The tech wouldn't bet her job on it, but she is pretty convinced it's girl parts she's seeing. We will confirm in 2 weeks.

In case I didn't already say it, Congratulations to Gecko! I am so happy for you and your BFP! As for the augmentin, I have been on it, and it really messed up my tummy too. It's powerful stuff! My sister's kids have both been on it too (they are ages 6 and 4), but I don't recall if it was for ear infections. How's he doing with it? I hope the little man is feeling better soon!

Happy Birthday to all of the September babies! It's so crazy everyone is turning one! I still can't believe it!

Hi Everyone!

Corny - Glad to hear all is going well with you!

CT_Michele - Good luck this month!

All's well here. The twins passed their 12 week screening tests with flying colors. My tummy is reall growing. I was probably past 20 weeks by the time I was this size with Evie and I'm only 14 weeks.

Evie has her first virus. Poor baby. Lots of tears. We took her into the dr this morning just to check it out. She's running a fever but I think we have it under control now. Just gonna have to wait it out.

We are leaving for Switzerland on Wednesday to visit my DH's parents. We're bringing my parents, too, which should be fun. My dad's never been out of the country (except Tijuana if that counts!) and my mom visited me in Switzerland once when I was staying there years ago when I first got engaged but otherwise hasn't been out of the country except for Tijuana. I just hope Evie is A-OK by Wednesday.

Hope everyone's enjoying the holiday weekend! :D

Corny, of course, as you know, I stalk your blog! I would love to see her as a big sister to a girl! So much fun. They could share clothes.

CT: Best wishes my dear!

Mellie: Congrats on the 12 week pass!!! I hope Evie gets better soon!

As for us, BIG news (no, not pregnancy, I wish!) But Mackenzie is taking 5 unassisted steps now and Brooke about 3!! I have walkers! They try so hard it is so cute! They love that they can walk a little now. Brooke tries to run thus why she is not walking as far as Kenzie. She just wants to go. Makes me scared for when she REALLY starts to go because she will be running everywhere! So the girls have taken their first steps and getting better at walking each day! Kinda scary how fast they learn things!

They also are signing "more" and "all done" and we are working on drink. Makes things MUCH easier. They can say dog now which is cute. They point at every dog they see and say "daaaaag" So cute!

I can finally put Mackenzies hair in a pony tail (think of Pebbles lol) and it is cute! I blogged a bit if you are interested.

http://machellearrison.blogspot.com/

Hmmmm, what else....I usually just update my blog thus why I am not on here as much. I try to keep up with you all the best I can though! I was looking through my and my sister's baby books when we were at my moms house this weekend and the girls are 1/2 shy of being what we were at one year. So they have pretty much caught up to a full term baby! Can you believe it!? They are in 18 month clothes now *sigh* getting so big!

So they are a little delayed on speech but that is ok. I am working with them and I feel lucky that I have teaching experience as that helps me a lot. I worked with ESE kids so I somewhat know how to help them. If they have to have speech I think that is great for them being 2 months early and only needing that! Plus, I think they will catch up by the time they are 2.

PS I have lost 10 lbs! In one month! I started taking my PCOS meds again (which make me sick as a dog for about 3 months....ugh). So 2 more months of misery getting adjusted to those pills. But they really do help with weight loss. I think it helps that the girls are just on the move all the time and they want to go out and do things...they are helping me with the weight loss. When they walk/run I will be losing a pound a day! lol.

Happy September Birthdays!!!
Me: 25 PCOS, BFP 1st time with twin girls!

Hey ladies.

Well, I got my official news today, no more delays, I am on for FET on the 22nd! Only 13 days until I'm pupo! Keep me in your prayers! We need this to work this time, I am not sure I can emotionally or financially handle a bfn.

Suga- So cool that the girsl are taking their first steps! Ella is not too close yet, she pulls up and tries to stand but when she lets go she can only stay up for a half a second until she plops down on her behind. I hope she is walking by halloween, she is going to be supergirl, which will be much cuter if she is wobbling around instead of crawling.

Mellie- congrats on 2nd trimester. Are you going to find out the sexes? And I hope Evie feels better soon! Have fun in switzerland, sounds like a blast!

corny- wow 16 weeks already! And hopefully you will get confirmation in 2 weeks. I am sure abby will love having a little sister!

As for me and Ella, we did start the transition to milk which is going pretty well so far. I really have to start pushing the sippy cups so we can get away from the bottle. She is definitely eating more solids, a larger variety, but not large quantities. She just doesn't seem to like eating alot. I am not so afraid to give her stuff now that she hit one year, and she just got her second tooth a few days ago, so she is doing a good job chewing stuff.

We spent the whole day yesterday babyproofing, she is getting into EVERYTHING even though she can't even walk yet. I spend all day taking her away from places she shouldn't be. She has also started putting her finger up her nose, which I am not happy about. When she first started doing it, I would move her hand and tell her no, and she just does it more. Now when I tell her no for something else, she will look straight at me and stick her finger up her nose. I really don't know how to stop her and I am hoping it is a phase that will end soon.

Ok, I will keep you all updated on my FET.

CT -- Good luck. I am always on here reading but never write too much. I am seriously thinking about trying again but the cost would be $11k. We paid $22K for the Shared Risk and we did get pregnant the first try with Michaela but we didn't have any left to freeze so we would be doing a fresh cycle. The money wouldn't be so bad if there was a guarantee this time. I just turned 40 in August so we don't qualify for the Shared Risk again unless we do donor eggs and we don't want to do that. If I can ask, can you please tell me what the cost of a FET incase we do try and it doesn't work, we may have some embies left for a FET this time around. We talk on and off about another but we haven't decided. I became a grandma in May so maybe I'll just enjoy the grandkids that I have to come and Michaela can grow wit them :)

Washingtonda- I would have to double check, but if my memory serves me right, it was around $2000 to freeze the embies and the FET was $5000 (not including a minimal amount of meds). I think my clinic is on the high side. They also give 20% off to out of pocket patients on the next try if you have a failed attempt.

Washingtonda: I do not know the cost to freeze ours eggs (insurance paid for it) but I know come Jan. we have to pay $400 a year to have them kept there for storage fees. FET will be around $5000 for us as well (no insurance this time!) but that includes meds. Just varies clinic to clinic. I pray our 2 frozens work because we could not afford a fresh cycle! Luckily we have the most experienced embryologists in the world in the area of egg cryopreservation.

CT: Good luck on the upcoming cycle!!!

CT_Michele - Yay! I'm so happy you're moving forward. Good luck! Your story about saying "no" and Ella putting her finger in her mouth made me laugh. I wish Evie were eating more. She refuses to put anything in her mouth! Have you ever heard of a child who doesn't want to put things in her mouth? She put her mouth on anything big she can cut teeth on but when I give her cheerios she just plays with them.

Wasingtonda
- I don't know what FET costs, either. Mine was kinda all together. I had one frostie from last time and on my second fresh cycle they used two fresh embies and my frostie from last time so I don't know how the cost breaks out. Good luck, though!

Well, we're in Switzerland. Evie was good on the flight. She had about a 15 minute crying/cranky spell before she went to sleep but otherwise she played with Grandma. I'm jet-lagged. It's nice being pregnant b/c I can enjoy all the Swiss cheese and chocolate I want although no wine! Unfortunately, I have quite a lot of work I have to do while I'm here, though, so it's not a total vacation. DH is happy to see his parents and they are thrilled to see Evie. They just remodeled their condo and an entire wall in the dining room is just pics of her. Sweet.

Washingtonda: I looked it up! It is $500 to freeze eggs. Then $400 a year after 2 years. We froze Jan 08 and start paying $400 a year Jan 2010. Then to implant frozen embies is is only $3000. To thaw and do the procedure. The meds (lupron) is about $600 they say. So not that bad! I also looked up the percentage rate on our clinic with frozen embies and it is 55% for my age bracket!! So excited! That is higher % rate than with fresh for my age bracket! (only by 5% but still!) We only have 2 frozen babies so I pray PRAY that they/one take!

Thanks for the responses on FET. We are gonna possibly think of having one more next year. I guess as we get closer, I will contact my clinic for a consultation and let them tell me their costs. We'll have to pay for the procedure but we do get some help with our meds because of the insurance we have so we'll see.
