babies - I was given a letter from my doctor in regards to spotting and he said it was completely normal and do not worry unless it is a heavy flo, but if you feel you should call them... then do. That is what they are there for. I swear sometimes the doctors office nurses do not have the best bedside manner and make us feel ridiculous when we call, but I do anyway.

lw918 - that is so great, I am very happy for you!!! What a blessing.

truebeliver - I asked my doctor why I was so swollen (I am only 5 weeks and 4 days) and he said my ovaries went from the size of walnuts to grapefruits so it will be like this for a few more weeks. My girlfriend gave me some strethy maternity shorts and I think I may wear them. Have you always gotten morning sickness?

dogz - do we actually get to hear the heartbeat or do they just tell us a number?

AFM - I had my 3rd and final beta (438, 2076, 8000+) so now I am scheduled for my first u/s next Tuesday. I am thrilled!!!

Cressicaw and LW: thanks so much. The spotting stopped. Thank goodness. It was very light and only when i wiped. Not sure what caused it but just glad it went away. Sometimes when i walk too much or climb the stairs i spot a little bit. Sucks as i am so scared of exercising now and the weight is creeping.

Lw: That must have been so awesome to have u're doc tell u that both are growing so beautifully. Congrats girl and start enjoying!

Cressicaw and truebeliever: i asked my RE the same question about the bloated stomach. I am already looking like i am 3-4 months pregnant and have started wearing the bella bands. He said the same thing about the ovaries and the stims.

Skipper: welcome. Sorry to hear about the wait but i guess the one thing IVF has taught all of us is to have lots of patience. Hang in there and before u know it u're u/s will be right around the corner.

Hugs to everyone else.

Anyone else feel EXTREMELY uncomfortable in the very lower part of the abdomen? Ugh, this can't be normal. And I feel sick most of the day. This sucks lol.

cressica - the 1st time we saw the HB, that's all we did was see it. The next one, we saw AND heard it, and they were able to measure it then.

skipper - WELCOME!!! We are super glad to have you.

lw - hugs and YAY for your little HBs!!!!

DOGZ: thank you!
And to Answer your question: YES!!!! I am VERY uncomfortable in my lower abdomen. My sister said "why are you walking like that? You're not THAT pregnant" and I had to explain to her that I'm so tender around my pubic bone area I have to take these little shuffle steps.

Babies: I'm so thankful your spotting stopped. I'm not sure if I said this earlier, but my hubby and I eh...er... well we finally  had sex and I spotted afterwards. I totally freaked out. Well, wonderful as ever, my hubby has read "what to expect when you're expecting" cover to cover and found the part that said it was normal to calm me down. It was just that tiny spotting when I wiped like you are talking about, but scary nontheless! So glad your passed!

Cressicaw: thank you! Good luck at your ultrasound. I had a harder time waiting for that than I had waiting for the beta!!

Skipper: I'm sure your RE and pharmacist are sure about the meds. I'll be praying that you see that heartbeat, but I'm sure you will!!! I know it's SO hard to wait!

So we were scheduled for our third ultrasound and the last one with RE. We will habe it at the clinic nearer to us two weeks from today and hopefully meet with our OB that same day. I'll be sent to the specialist once at 12 weeks to see if he wants to stitch my cervix (OUCH!!!!!!!!!) early. After that, I will be soley in the care of my brand new OB/GYN. I've never met the woman. She is brand new to the hospital, but my RE has worked with her for years. My SIL works at the hospital and asked the OB nurses about her. They all said she is amazing- they love her, which is great for us!
Hoping everyone is having a good day- Sipping my tea right now. I put ginger and peppermint in it and it settles my stomach a bit.

I actually read that the reason that REs put us on estrogen and progesterone supplements following IVF is because our bodies do not naturally produce these hormones like they would in a pregnancy that occurs naturally - and these hormones are needed during the first trimester. So, while these things like estrace or climara may not be safe to use during a pregnancy that occurred naturally, they aren't of any danger in a pregnancy as a result of a procedure like IVF. The whole process of stimulating the ovaries, ovulation induction, retrieval, etc. puts the body into an aritificial state so it doesn't undergo everything that it would during a natural conception cycle.

So, I vow not to worry about this anymore :D .

Also, a bit of good news! I got my ultrasound moved up to next Tuesday instead of next Thursday. My husband has to go out of town for work next Wednesday, so I asked RE if we could come in on Tuesday since I wanted my husband to be there for that. Yay! I will be 6 weeks 5 days - praying we see a heartbeat!!

I am still learning how to use this forum. To post inside this folder, April 201 Babies, do we always go to the end of the message list and just hit reply? I hit "new topic" and my message appeared back on the main "Pregnant after Treatment" board.

Also, testing my signature :P

Hi all,
Sorry I haven't posted in awhile. How is everyone? I don't have time for personals right now-sorry. I'm not experiencing any nausea, I don't really "feel" pregnant. Is anyone else experiencing this? I go for my second u/s on Friday and I'm hoping for 2 heartbeats! Please keep me in your thoughts on Friday. :)

Hello ladies,

I've migrated here from the July/August cycling board, and I've been travelling, so it will take me a bit to learn everyone's stories. I'm at 8 weeks and I believe my due date (fingers crossed) is April 14, so I am glad I found this board!

I just had a big scare 2 hours ago! I started bleeding and freaked out. I called my clinic and they saw me right away. The doctor showed me the heartbeat on the ultrasound and said things basically look fine. He says that bleeding does sometimes happen, which I didn't know. He did also say that the fetus measures about "3 days smaller" than expected, though that is within the "margin of error" of their measurements. So of course I am now researching what that means (could mean premature birth, smaller newborn, chromosomal abnormality). Anyway, for now, I am just so relieved!

I really appreciate hearing everyone's stories of morning sickness and getting bigger. I feel like I am constantly managing my morning sickness and food issues. Ginger capsules have worked for me, and vitamin B6. I also bought those acupressure wrist bands, but I haven't tried them yet.

lw, great to hear about the 2 heartbeats!

dogzrule, I remember on the other board you said wouldn't it be great if we could have ultrasounds every day, well those fetal monitors sound great; I am definitely thinking of renting one!

everyone else, i look forward to getting to know you better!

Cressicaw: I'm glad to find that someone feels the same way I do...thought I was going crazy to want to feel sick. My due date is April 17. How many embies did you put in again?

Liana: Welcome! Wow what a scary story. I'm glad everything's ok now. My doc actually said he would only be concerned if the baby was measuring a week earlier. Try not to overstress about it. Acupuncture really helps nausea. I have been doing it for a few months and haven't felt sick at all. I feel like I should be sick!

Skipper: Yes goto April 2010 babies and goto the end and hit reply. If you have a specific question for everyone then click new topic and type a question or thought. Let me know when you figure the ticker thing out...I haven't delved into that yet. I had my u/s at 6w6d and saw a heartbeat...so will you!

LW:[/b] How are you feeling? It sounds like the pain you're having is pretty intense. FYI: my doc said spotting after sex is completely normal, which sounds weird. Maybe after a few times it'll stop.

Dogz: Sorry to hear you're in pain too. Wow! It seems way too early to have that much pain. What does your doc say? I know I'm repeating myself but have you tried acupuncture for nausea? I'm glad the spotting stopped. I'm sure it freaked you out. I know how you feel about exercise. I want to start exercising regularly again but for some reason I'm scared something will happen. I mean, it took me 5 1/2 years of ttc and I don't want to blow it.

AFM: I'm just feeling very emotional today for no real reason and also a bit snappy to my husband who has been great. My hormones are screwing with me!

(((hugs))) tortilla, you have every reason to be hormonal!!! Turns out my pain was AWFUL constipation. Thank goodness that's all! I just took my 1st stool softener, so we'll see how it works. I am MOST hopeful. I called my OB today, and they were so wonderful and helpful. Apparently this is so very common and is most likely caused (or at least aggravated by) prenatal vitamins. Not a fan of even thinking about acupuncture. Even after all the needles I had to inject into myself, I can't bring myself to do that. Yet. I have been cleared for exercise and am back to the gym, although I am only working out for 35 mins 3 days a week instead of 45 mins to an hour 5 days a week. I'm keeping the level moderately low to moderate and feel great after every workout. :D

Dogz: I
Thanks for the hug darlin'! Sounds like you'll be feeling better soon. That was a quick fix. I hope it continues to be. I think you motivated me just now when I read that you feel great after you're workouts. I will goto the gym on Friday! What do you do at the gym? I usually ride the bike for 30 minutes, walk/jog for 30 minutes and then do some light weights. I will not jog and maybe go lighter on the weights.

Right now I'm doing 20 mins on the elliptical and 15 mins of weights followed by 5 mins of stretching. I LOVE it. Even though I'm not working out at the level/duration I was, I know that's best, and my workouts right now feel perfect. As I get into the 2nd trimester, I might add in another 10 mins on the elliptical and maybe add another day or two of cardio, but we'll see.

Hey is everyone here on the PIO still? How long does your RE keep you on it?
I called today about it because I was up all night with terrible cramping and they say that it can be caused by the Progesterone, especially if your body is making enough on it's own. They are going to do bloodwork and see. I'm nervous because they don't wean you off or anything- they just stop the shots. What's the protocal with your dr?

LW: My doc stops the progesterone at 9 weeks and I'm not sure if they'll wean me off or not. I know that some docs keep you on it until 12 weeks, then your body seems to take over making the appropriate level itself. It is kinda scary though. I'll ask tomorrow when I go for my second u/s.
