Hi Everyone!

CK - I didn't experience this specifically after the NT scan, but I have had what I would call "restless" legs a number of times the past month, which is very frustrating, overstimulating and almost (not quite) painful. They are not problematic and go away themselves, but I imagine it is related to the difference in blood flow to certain extremities. I usually feel it when I am trying to fall asleep. Are you still feeling that, or has it subsided?

Ange - I remember being worried when I didn't feel sick in the first trimester... and it always came back!! ;) But, my daily nausea really didn't leave me until about 14 weeks pregnant, when I started to just get occasional queasiness and that's it. Hope yours doesn't go on too long! The tiredness, though, I have found has gone from being a mental/physical tiredness to more just physical. My body feels heavier, it is harder to bend over (and I am not really showing yet!!), and when I get tired, it is immediate, so I cannot really walk properly if I don't sit down. And... of course, my memory is now shot!! Anyone else?!!

Daisy - Are you still experiencing spotting? Still dark brownish? I hope for your sake it abates, even though it is almost surely nothing serious, so many women have it. Good vibes your way....

Julie - Now that I have done a bit more reading on the "quickening" stage, I realize that that is what I have been experiencing more than anything for the past 3-4 weeks (except for the gas and occasional constipation, of course!!). Now that I am paying attention to it, instead of trying to avoid feeling the stirrings, I can tell that it is little bumps, hits, kicks, even pokes that tweak me (and I can feel these!!). Active little one. One interesting thing for you all: I read that when you are moving around, it lulls or rocks the little one(s) to sleep, and when you are lying down or not moving (bed, sitting), it is most awake and active and will do some performances for you!

AFM - the first OB appointment I had was at 13.5w, and it was uneventful, except that I heard the heartbeat for the first time. 160-170, which was exactly where it was at 12w, too. At this stage, I am not even that interested in going back every 4 weeks to these appointments, as I feel that things are moving along fine without the extra questions, etc. I understand their purpose, but I must say it is not the same as having the personal touch of either the RE or a midwife discussing things. I found that I had to discuss, question and explain each item that was presented to me as "mandatory" and finally it was agreed that those things (tests, etc.) were not necessary if I felt that way. It was a struggle on each topic and not very comfortable. Perhaps it is also because I was already very informed on most of this information and knew what I wanted and did not want, so it felt a little tedious to me?

We have decided on a basinette (Not sure if it's the same as a moses basket?) for sleeping and may do co-sleeping in our bed, as well, for a while. There is increasing information and newer studies out that promote this (whether in bed or at least baby in the same room) to avoid SIDS and also to encourage parent-child bonding in the early stages. So, our nursery will be prepared... but not slept in... for the first part.

Anyway, I am feeling very good otherwise, except that I am much less flexible than I was before (I hope yoga will help with that!). I also notice that, at one part of the day, I look soooo big and my belly is hard (contractions, possible), that I feel so pregnant, and then other parts of the day, I look and feel the same way as 4 months ago... funny.

Cheers, All!

Hello all, I'm glad to hear that each of you are progressing and not feeling too terrible. My nausua & vomitting has finally pretty much gone away, so that it a great relief. I am officially in my second tri-mester starting today, so this makes me feel a bit better. We check the heartbeat each night with the doppler, it's like a sedative for me. Will check back in soon.

Daisy - My NT scan was abdominal but the baby wouldn't move the way she wanted so she was pushing all around for 20 mins!

I was thinking maybe all of that pushing around is what is making my thighs and legs so achey but a co worker of mine had mentioned that perhaps it is my hips widening...I never thought of that but I suppose she could be right.

Glad to hear all of you ladies are doing so well!!! I think next month we'll only hear the heartbeat at the next appt...I don't think we get another ultrasound until 20 weeks!

Hi Ladies -

Seems like everyone is doing really well. That is great. Uneventful is a good thing :)

I must say... and it probably sounds terrible... but I am getting a little bored with things right now. I am probably feeling this way because it is still too early to be feeling (and seeing) lots of movement. And, I'm not popping out as quick as I did last pregnancy so I'm still waiting for a bigger bump to actually look pregnant and not just like I have a gut. I guess mostly I am just SUPER anxious for the baby to be here. Maybe because this is my second pregnancy it doesn't have the "novelty" of the first one... like I said... I just want to get to the baby part! We don't have much planning to do for this one... just stock up on diapers and wipes. No nursery to plan for... no clothes to buy (unless it is a girl which we won't know until after the birth anyway). Sorry if this sounds uncaring... I think I am just getting very anxious for my 20 week scan which is 3 weeks away. And like I said... I just want to get to the baby part!!!

Anyone planning to take a "Babymoon" with DH? We are planning one for November. Just a quick little 3-4 day getaway. I'd like to go some place warm like Mexico or Jamaica... but DH is a little worried about being some place foreign in case something goes wrong. We may end up just staying around home (in a nice hotel) and just go for some nice dinners / shows etc. and put the travel money saved towards redecorating our bedroom.

Take care!!

Julie- I totally agree with you! This is my first pregnancy but I'm over the whole pregnancy part, I'm just really eager to see my baby! I'm also at that in between stage, where it looks more like I have a gut than looking pregnant and I'm not considered high risk so I only have monthly appointments. Our next scan won't be for another 2 months! So it's been pretty uneventful for me too.

And not to mention I really hate that I have this weird taste in my mouth that won't go away!!!!

I completely agree... I keep seeing pregnant women that are much further along than I am, and I wishing I could "fast-forward" to the point of bringing our baby home from the hospital. I suppose for me, the good thing about being considered "high-risk" given our history is that we get to see the baby a lot. We have an appointment next week with the materna fetal medicine specialist just to make sure that all is well, and my regular OB will begin seeing me weekly starting at 17 weeks. I will have a scan at each appointment to check my cervical length, etc. so we will get to see the baby at the same time. Has everyone pretty much gotten past their sickness? I feel almost normal again. The nausua and vomitting have subsided and some of my energy has returned as well. I must return to work, but I will check back in soon.

Hello Pregnant Mums!!!

Nice to hear how well everyone is doing, and that the ill effects of first trimester are going away for most. I assume that some of us are just too busy (or tired) to post, so Hello to you all, too!

Not much to tell here. I still find that, after a long sleep where I should be rested, I could still sleep a lot more. This little one certainly is taking energy from me! However, the midmorning and afternoon naps are no longer necessary most days. ;)

The next month or so for most of us is a period of intense growth and development, so it is pretty exciting to imagine everything going on inside of us (I know, first-timer here!!). However, I would be interested to know who is feeling what and when you start feeling it. I know it is standard to feel your first pregnancy later than your subsequent ones, but I have read a bit recently that suggests that it is very individual to each pregnancy, so you never know.

I still feel the baby kicking and poking (and the odd summersault) inside me. One thing that is curious, is that I actually feel pain when this happens - not a tremendous amount by any means - but just aches and mini-pangs, as opposed to what I have read I should feel, which is just movement and no pain. I realize that some of the pain is ligament stretching from the uterus (get ready for lots more this month!), but when it is the baby moving, I am surprised at the achiness. It only lasts as long as the movement, so for a second or two, so I am not worried. I just wondered if anyone else experienced this, or what you are experiencing?

Tell all!

Cheers!

Julie - I love the concept of a babymoon, and we may combine it with our belated (as yet unscheduled) honeymoon, too. Get away a connect before the stress gets to you - great idea!

Hey Hot Mamas! I hope everyone is feeling good. I am finally beginning to relax a little. I have not spotted in about 72 hours, thank goodness. I had to travel last week for work and it was horrible. It was certainly more than spotting. It was gushing. I hated every minute of it. I have a high stress job, and had to run a big meeting. So I just couldn't leave. I skipped dinners at night, and just tried to get in my room as early as possible. I was never so happy to get home. Now (knock on wood) it just seems to have stopped! I hope it stays away.

We had an U/S today! Not a doc appointment, but a stand-alone unit that we paid for out of pocket. So worth it. Baby looked great!! Active, and you could see so much skelatal system. Amazing. After all I have been through last couple of weeks, it was huge relief.

We scheduled this appointment to learn the sex. But...we didn't find out today what it was. We had the technician turn off our tv screen when she did the 'lower sections.' She then put sex in an envelope and my hubby drove it to a bakery. They are making a cake with either a PINK or a BLUE inside. Then neutral icing. So we have no idea. We live in a very close neighborhood that has Supper Club every Thursday. And my parents live in the neighborhood. Most people here are retired, we are certainly the youngest. Anyway...at Supper Club this Thursday, we will cut the cake and find out the sex with all of our family and friends!! They are all so excited to have a baby in the neighborhood. We are so lucky to hopefully have a lot of babysitters!!

The tech said that she is 100% sure of sex, so it leads me to believe it is boy. But we will know for sure Thursday night! Has anyone else found out the sex yet???

Hi Ladies, just wanted to check in... We had our level 2 u/s yesterday and everything looked great according to the doctor. The baby is actually measuring about a week ahead, so apparently we have an over-achiever on the way. We also found out that we are having a boy. We honestly did not have a preference, just want a healthy baby, but it was a strange experience. I think we were both convinced that they were supposed to have a girl, so it kind of took us by surprise. We are however, very excited. I am very happy that we now get to name the baby after my father. Now we just have to find a creative way to share the news with our families. We are all going to dinner this weekend, so we will be working on how to surprise them between now and then.

Baylorbear - congrats on your little boy!

Daisy - your plan is sweet - Enjoy the surprise!

I think it is amazing that some babies' sex can already be seen at 16 weeks, just a month or so after the genitalia have begun to form.

AFM - Everything is going well here - our little one's heartbeat is still around 160 and s/he is kicking me fairly regularly now - the past few days the kicks really felt like little kicks (or pushes), as opposed to just achy movements. It is hard to believe a little one that is over 11 cm long is fitting inside my belly without it really looking like I am holding anything that size inside me! I am sure, one day I will just pop. Has anyone else clearly popped yet?

Otherwise, I am feeling great, but having some headaches lately - I hope that doesn't continue throughout.

It's a BOY!! Our reveal went great, everyone was surprised. I really thought it was a girl, so I was shocked! We are so excited. Now to work on a name...

Baylor- congrats on a boy as well. That is awesome!

MG- I still just look 'thicker'. Some days though I look pregnant, but not everyday. Kind of strange. I have had headaches everyday almost since about 12 weeks. I don't take anything for them. Doctor told me I can take tylenol, but I pass. I keep hoping they will go away, but no luck yet. I will take headaches over bleeding any day though! I have not had any spotting at all this work week, so I am feeling a lot better.

I am looking forward to starting some shopping now that we know the sex! How is everyone else hanging in there??

Congrats Baylor and Daisy on your BOYS!!! Daisy, that was such a cute way to find out what your were having. I told my DH about it and even he was amused. We are waiting until the birth to find out. Anyone else waiting?

MonkeyGirl - I have the same thoughts as you about this little tiny thing in me, and how can I possibly feel it yet. My belly has sort of popped. I can still wear and button all of my regular pants and I look like I have a gut. But, if I wear maternity pants with a banded waist, it looks like a bump.

Headaches... I normally have my share of them but luckily pregnancy seems to make them better. I think it is because I make a point to drink LOTS of water. I really think that makes a huge difference. I have gotten a couple of migraines (normally get 3-4/month) so I consider myself lucky to have only gotten two in the last 4 months. I can't take my normal migraine meds, but the doctor said I can take a vicodin if they are bad enough (tylenol/caffeine has no effect on my migraines).

My 20 week scan is 10 days away! Yippee! Haven't seen the little one since 11 weeks. We are having a level 2 U/S, only because of maternal age. The doctor said it wasn't really needed since the embryo age is from when I was 32, but we decided to go for it anyway since they can see so much more.

My tiredness has come back a little, but not as bad as first tri. Maybe I am just over doing it. Weight gain so far is around 5-6 pounds. It seems like it is ALL in my boobs. They are by far WAY bigger than my belly and my son seems to think that the baby lives in them (that's where he always points)

Hope the rest of you are all doing great too!

Hi Ladies!

Just wanted to let you all know about this gender prediction kit that I did! It's called "intelligender" and it's supposed to guess the sex of your baby using your urine. I'm a little skeptical but since I won't be getting an ultrasound for another 5 weeks, I figured I'd invest the $30 and try it out. Anways, it says we're going to have a boy! I'll have to wait until my next ultrasound to confirm but it would make sense b/c everyone seems to be having boys!!
