Like Babiesgalore said, congrats to all of us nearing or in our second trimester! Some people count 12 weeks as first trimester, some count 13 weeks. If you are 14, that is definitely second trimester!

Tortillachip, glad to hear your good news! And another little girl! Yay!

Helen and Ange, you UK gals do have it better than us in the US. It is much more humane over there.

AFM, I got my nuchal translucency scan scheduled for Wednesday, now that my insurance has kicked in. If it goes well, I will feel like I can tell people at work (and figure out my leave).

best to all!

Hello Mommies,

Sorry I have been MIA too, just had a lot going on. I am now a little over 10 weeks and my OB gave me my 2nd ultrasound pic last week, so now I have 3 photos of my little peanut.

Everything is going great and finally I feel so much better.

How neat reading that some of you have found out the sex. That is fantastic news!

Hope all is well... take care of yourselves!

dogz: I know what you mean! apart from the expanding waist line and little nausea it does not seem very real. I went out for a meal with friends the other day and really struggled to find something to wear though so it's either baby or biscuits!

As for the maternity leave I can't believe how different it is in the US, I assumed you would be the same as us. Basically the government pay the statutary pay and then our employers top it up. Statutary can last up to nine months and the law states we can have 1 year off and go back to the same level of job as a minimum. It is possibly changing in April as well to allow fathers to share some of the nine months and not just the 2 weeks they get now.

I have always wanted to live in the US but maybe this next year we are better here. lol.

Hope everyone is feeling well and progressing well.

WOW the UK is sounding appealing :) We're saving every bit we can so that my husband can share a week home with us. If I go early and we're at the NICU for awhile I'll have to drive back and forth and he will have to work. His work does not offer any sick/vacation so if he isn't working he isn't getting paid. I cannot imagine if he got PAID for weeks or months to stay home!!!

Dogz: I totally get what you're saying. It's so weird because I'm so used to going to the dr. every week and so I keep wondering. I've been told "Just look down~ They are there!" because there is no hiding this double baby bump :) It's taking over. People that didn't know I was pregnant before can tell just by looking now.

Last week we were in the car and I told me husband "I know this sounds crazy but I really really think that one of those babies just kicked me!". I thought there was no way. I looked online and found that you feel kicks earlier in a second pregnacy and earlier yet if there are more than one because of the crowding. With my daughter she could be felt kicking by others at 14 weeks! Earlier than most people feel it internally. My dr. didn't believe me until she felt her herself. She was amazed. I think it might just be the way I carry them??? Anyway, since then I've felt some rolling around and a few twinges, which are becoming more frequent, but I have to laying or sitting still to even notice them. They are still very light, but it's a nice reassurance.

Well we have gone and done it. We have changed our cars! I had a little 3 door hatchback and have got a 5 door car. Hubby has changed his to a big car too. We are going away for a few days.

lw -that must be so comforting to feel them moving! CAn you distinguish each one?

Angie: I can distinguish them somewhat. since they are so small I pretty much know that the feeling on oneside is one and on the other side is the other :) I'm sure as they get bigger it will be harder to know what is whom.
Congrats on the cars! We got out carseats yesterday and realized we Definatly have to get a van or three row SUV. Noway to fit two large carseats and an 8 year old comfortably.

Tortilla: Can't remember if I said: Congrats on your results and YAY! A little girl. Bring on the pink!!

Tortilla: Yay! Congrats on the great results and finding out it is a girl! Now you can fully enjoy the rest of your pregnancy.

Cressicaw: Looks like you and me must be the late April mommies. I am 10w4d today and am due April 29th. Just barely made it into April. My daughter was born April 14th, so it will be interesting to see how close their birthdays are.

I go for my first OB appointment today, after finally being released from my OB. One more week on the estrogen and progesterone suppositories, then I'm done with all that! Can't wait for the second trimester!

Hello my wonderful lasies, like some others I have been MIA... So so sorry... I have been quite busy, then I had to go away for a couple of days... I am also not feeling very pregnant, my stomach seems to be growing a bit but other than that all the symptoms have been tapering off... Only thing that has been reassuring is the doppler, so I try to listen for the heartrate every other day. I had my NT scan and everything is showing normal, so hopefully that is a good sign. We are excited to be in the second trimester, but still very scared as we lost the first pregnancy late.

I am so jealous that a few of you know what you all are having already... :) Congrats to the pink team, how exciting... Only about 6 more weeks and I will be joining in the knowing the sex excitement.. Can't wait!!!

Babies.. I am like you, I also work for the govt... I haven't been employed long, but over the time I have pretty much exhausted much of my leave due to vacations or family emergencies. It looks as I will haev to borrow the 6 weeks and take whatever annual I will have once the baby decides to make his/her arrival.

Angie... what kind of vehicles did you all purchase? My husband has been looking into getting an SUV or a full size pick up truck so that we can have room to make car trips when the new arrival comes. We already know we will be on the road quite often making trips to show off...LOL

Skipper good luck at the OB today.. Hopefully you get to see your baby...

LW that is amazing you are feeling them.. I told my husband I have been feeling our little bean here and there, I thought it was somewhat early, but since I have been pregnant before I know what it feels like. It is not often, but when it does happen I just smile.

For anyone I may have missed, I hope all is going well with the pregnancy.. I am so happy to haev found you all to share this wonderful experience with... We are all entering or coming near to the end of the first trimester, only 2 to go.. WOW!!!

What doppler are ya'll using that works so early?

I bought one at a 2nd hand shop because it's the exact same one babies r us has and it was half the price. I read afterwards that it doesn't work until late 2nd trimester and we've not heard anything yet.
I'm intereested in buying a better one because my daughter is soooo anxious to hear the babies and I'm sure it would put my mind at ease as well.

Hey LW... I have a Hi Bebe 200 that I purchased with the last pregnancy. I have been able to pick up the heartrate for about 4 weeks now. It was really hard at first, but with patience we finally found the little bean. It has seemed to work very well for me so far.

Hi Gals,
I've been MIA as well. After work I'm exhausted and I don't have any energy to do anything. It's gotten worse the past week or so. Is anyone else feeling this way?

I should probably take the plunge into maternity pants but where do I shop for cool hip clothes? Any ideas? I'm clueless.

My first OB appointment is set for October 22nd...which seems so far away! It's hard to not see a doctor for a few weeks when we get so used to seeing one every week.

Hope all is well with all of you. Thanks so much for the wishes on my baby girl. FYI: I hate pink! What will I do when the gifts start arriving and they're all pink. :o

Tortilla: where are you located? Motherhood Maternity has some really cute stuff and Old Navy has some decent stuff with low prices.
I've done nearly all of my shopping on Ebay. Most of the stuff is used, of course, but it's much cheaper for clothes that you will only wear for the next 6 or so months :)

Also, a cousin of mine had a daughter three months before I had my first. She also hated pink. On her baby shower invite she had a cute little rhyme about not bringing pink. Something like "All little girls can have pink and lace and bows. This ones a daddy's girl! Don't just Think Pink!" Or something to that effect.

Thanks Truebeliever. I'll be checking into that.
