Hi Everyone!

Everyone seems to be doing great and headed into that wonderful second trimester! I had my first OB appointment on Monday and we heard the heartbeat on the doppler. Soooooo sweet. I go for my NT scan next Wednesday - praying for positive readings from that.

Has anyone here gotten a flu shot? My OB said to get one from my primary doctor, but my primary doctor doesn't have them yet. Also, I'm on the hunt for a mercury-free shot and, from what I hear, they are hard to find. I'm calling CVS and Walgreens today to see if they have them.

Keep the great updates coming!
Me - 35 PCOS
DH - 36 Low counts

Skipper: I got my flu shot last week from CVS. Go to one that has the minute clinics and they have the preservative free shots.

Tortilla: I got some online from Ann taylor loft, old navy and also JC penney. I love them. They are so comfortable.

Nothing much happening on my end. I go back to the OB next week. Yippie!and then at 16 weeks i think i go in for the spina bfida test. Been trying to look into day cares and the waiting lists are huge everywhere. May have to try home care providers instead. Who knew!

I'm sick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :-( And of course that makes me worry even more about the baby being ok. I know pregnant women catch colds all the time and it is nothing to freak out about, but panic is my middle name. My heart is beating so hard, and my heart rate is up (not super high or anything, just elevated), and I know it's just my body's way of fighting whatever is trying to invade my system. Grrrrrr.

dogzrule--sorry to hear you're sick! From what I've read, the baby is okay and doesn't get sick. It's just that we can't take certain medications, that's probably the biggest issue. Hope you get some good rest. ( I think of sickness as the body forcing us to rest.)

Cressica, glad to hear that everything is going well.

angeinhull, Wow, that is so inspiring to hear about leaves in the UK, and the reforms to include dads too.

Truebeliever, yay on the normal NT scan! it's always a relief when the tests come back okay.

lw, that is so exciting that you can feel them kick. I can hardly wait.

Skipper, good luck on your NT scan!

AFM, I just had my NT scan 2 hours ago, and the results were pretty good (risk 1 in 1400 for Down, risk 1 in 12,000 for Trisomy 18). DH and I will decide whether to do further testing but we are pretty happy for now.

Just had to share my experience, though: the ultrasound technician was new and I think a bit nervous. She also said they didn't have the results from my first trimester bloodwork, but I said that I called my OB and they did send the blood results over. At the end of the long scan, she said, "I'm going to get XXX to come in and double check, and then the doctor will come in afterwards." Then I lay there for what felt like an eternity!!! I think it was 20 minutes, which is agony if you are scared about the results, and plus I had gel on my stomach still, my pants were down, and it was cold. Finally, the doctor came in (not another technician, which I was expecting) and basically said everything was okay and quickly went over the results with me. You can imagine how nervous I was, wondering if it was normal to have the first technician ask a second one to come in, and wondering if there was something wrong and that's why it was taking so long. I think she was just nervous, and then I think they were looking for my blood test results, which they found. But in the end, I did not have to lie there with my belly exposed for so long, because the doctor came in instead and said I could get dressed and get up! Just an example of how agonizing 20 minutes can be if you're a patient and wondering if anything is wrong and also just lying there!

Anyway, with this relief, I may finally be ready to buy stuff to prepare! I read that ange got new cars and lw got carseats, and thank you to everyone (lw, babiesgalore, and tortillachip for asking) for your tips on buying maternity clothes. I'm also trying not to spend too much, considering I won't be wearing them again (as an older mom, I'm pretty sure I won't be pregnant again!)

Dogzrule: I feel your pain. DD is sick and I feel it creeping up on me. Hoping increasing fluids and staying in for a few days will help.

Liana: glad to hear your results look good. What a pain- I'm sure that whole time you just kept thinking something had to be wrong. I'm sorry \you went through that.

Skipper: how great to hear the HB! My husband has been absent for both appointments that I heard our babies' heartbeats. Usually they do a scan and we don't get to hear them.

AFM: I had an extra OB appointment today. I've been cramping for three days and finally decided that enough was enough. I was glad I went because I've got a baceterial infection causing the cramping. going on antibiotics to help with that.
Got to see the babies. The Tech tried really hard to see what they are, but it's still too early. We go back in two weeks and are really hoping to see at that point. One baby was drinking the amniotic fluid the entire ultrasound. One of the cutest/funniest things I've seen!!!
Both heartbeats were 152. I asked if that meant we were out of the running to have one of each and the tech said absolutly not :)

Hi all

True - DH got a MPV style car (renault scenic) and I got a mid size 5 door hatchback (nissan almera). Mine is probably a small size in US if the hire cars I have had are anything to go by but much bigger than the super mini size I had. SUV's are not as popular here so tend to be quite expensive.

lw - glad the cramping was not anything serious. Is it all better now? Can't be long til your next ultrasound. Very exciting! I wish we had more ultrasounds over here.

Liana - sounds like good results. What a scary time. I wish they would explain what is going on more than just letting people worry.

dogz - I hope you are feeling better and managed to relax. The book my GP gave me even said at week 14 - 15 that you probably have had a cold by now. I have a sore throat but hoping that's where it will stop.

Babies - Have you had your OB appointment? How did it go?

AFM, I had our booking in appointment with the midwife today and we heard the baby's heartbeat. It was so good to hear as it has been nearly 8 weeks since the last check. My consultant will be the same consultant as for the IVF so great continuity. I had a load of blood tests but refused the triple test for down's. I know a lot of you have had this but I am in a low risk category and did not want any extra stress.

We have started decorating the nursery as well and went and ordered the carpet today.

Sorry for anyone I missed but I hope you are all doing well.

Hi Gals! How are you all doing?

I had my first appointment with my OB today which went well. I heard my daughter's heartbeat on the doppler and saw her sleeping...then she woke for a second to scratch her face. I will go back in 2 weeks, and then I'll get the 18 week scan where they check the anatomy. I bought the cutest beenie today for her...remember I don't like pink? Well, I found a chocolate beenie with a light pink skull on the front and light pink lips on the back and it's pretty cute.

Thanks for the ideas about maternity pants. I've tried on a few...but they're not very stylish looking. ICK!

How has everyone's diet been? Any cravings? Does anything make you sick? I've been having a hard time getting my 75 grams of protein daily! I'm doing better but it seems like a lot to me. How about everyone else?

Hello mommas,

Well, I had the cervix ultrasound (where they check to see length) and turns put I have an unusally long one and something about the placenta is in a location where I will most likely have to have a C section.

It was such a great appointment because I saw the baby scratch its face, wave and wiggle... too sweet. Everything looked great and I go back next week for the 1st trimester screening for downs etc. heart beat was 166 I think... I just love hearing it!

Friday I will be 12 weeks, I am a lil behind everyone as my due date is April 30th.

I can't wait! We are so excited and I have had so much support from friends with more maternity clothes then I will ever need.

I am no longer sick, feeling very fat (coinsidering I already gained weight during IVF shots) and I will cry at a drop of a hat... (everyone thinks I am such a softy now :-)

Hope all is well with everyone... seems everyone is doing great... Thank God!!! We all went through so much getting here!

FREAKING OUT!!!!!!

Post by tortillachip »

So this morning I woke up and was bleeding!! My doc had informed me on Tuesday that I have a cyst and it may pass and bleed and not to freak out...but now I'm freaking out! I'm going in for a sonogram at 11:00 to see if my baby girl is ok. I'm scared! I'll post after I find out what's going on. I pray to GOD she's ok. I don't think I could handle it if she wasn't.

Tortilla: am sure everything will be ok. I bled a couple of days after my CVS and same as u i was really freaking out but the doctor reassured me that everything would be ok. I laid down for the rest of the day (sunday) and by evening everything had stopped. The u/s the next day showed our baby girl waving at us. I know it is really scary but am sure the baby is just fine. Let us know when u get back.

Cressicaw: That is awesome that u saw the baby doing all those things. Isn't it just amazing? Also i think it is nice to know that how the delivery will be - that way there is no last minute surprises and u can plan the actual delivery date. I also have been getting loads of maternity clothes from a friend of mine who just had her baby. Thank goodness. saves us so much money.

Angeinhull: Glad that things went well with the visit to the midwife. Will u see the OB as well. So exciting to do the nursery. We have three big rooms so not sure if i want to conver the whole room into the nursery plus my parents will be with us for the first couple of months and they cannot climb a lot of stairs. So we may just do everything in the master b'room and then move it to the guest room when the baby gets older. Started taking measurements to see where to place things.

Lw: Hope DD is doing better now. Glad that u found the cause of the cramping.

Liana: congrats on the great results. Such a pain when they make u worry like that. I hate it when the tech does not utter one word and then leaves the room. ugghhhhh! Regarding the maternity clothes, see if any friend has them to lend u. Makes a huge difference.

AFM: went it today for my montly check and was quite uneventful except that i heard the H/B again. No sono though. Only urine, pressure and H/B. Ah well. I go back in 10 days though for a sono and the alphafetoprotein (AFP) test to check for neural defects. The CVS doc said it should be fine though as the baby was pretty active during the tests. It is a blood test. I also got the ok to go home. Yippee. The flight is over 14 hours direct so i wanted to make sure it would be ok. She said that as long as i wear those tight socks, drink only water, and walk around every hour it should be fine. My parents live on an in island and would be good to just sit on the beach with my big belly than deal with the cold here. Anybody else planning any trips. I also started putting my name on the wait list at some day care centers. most of them is about a year wait. Who would've thought?

Tortilla, sending u lots of positive vibes and waiting to hear from u. Hugs to everyone.

Thanks for the support Babiesgalore!

So my daughter is fine. What happened is that I have a blotclot which the doc thinks is being caused from the second sac aka twin B trying to expel itself rather than reabsorb into my body. The doctor said I should expect to bleed some the next 3-5 days, which scares the shit out of me! He put me on bedrest until Monday afternoon, where he will check to see if the clot is gone. If it's not then more bedrest until it's gone. I'm feeling ok but apprehensive. Off to rest...

Hello my wonderful ladies... How is everyone doing? I see the thread has been kind of quiet lady, hope that is a sign that everyone is just off enjoying their pregnancies...

Tortilla I am excited to her your daughter is just fine... I can only imagine your reaction with the sight of blood. I know with my fears, I would have probably been outin the floor before I could make it to the phone or hospital...LOL We will have so many stories to look back on after we deliver our babies..

Babies I am happy to hear you can travel home to be with your family... That seems like a very long trip, just make sure to follow Dr's orders. when are you planning to leave? I dont have anything planned, may travel for Christmas and that will probably be about it for me. Trying to keep it relaxed and close to home with this pregnancy...

Cressica, that is great that your cervix is long.. That means your chances of having IC are I would think less and knowing you have to have a C Section is pretty neat. I like the fact that you can plan it out and know exactly when you will have your baby.. Kind of cool. especially if you have family out of town that wants to share in the joy!

Angie, how cool is that to be decorating the nursery. I am too scared to even think about purchasing a thing. I think we will start preparing after we hit the 24 week mark, if the Lord is willing. Then it is on, I am sure i will be shopping every day. :) It is so exciting to be shopping for your own, and not for someone elses..

AFM, things are going well.. I had my precautionary cerclage placed last week and the follow up today. Things look great, I will start the 17P injections next week, since we don't know the reasons for my prior loss we are taking all precautions this time around to try to get to term. While I was getting my ultrasound today to check my cervix, the tecnichian gave me a little peask.... We are having a BOY!!! Funny thig is, we have beencalling the baby a he since getting pregnant... It is now official. I am so excited and now I feel more in turn with my baby. It is a different feeling once you know the sex. AMAZING...

I am hoping to see others check in that we haven't seen in a while.. Time seems to be going fast and slow. I am almost 16 weeks, only 24 to go. WOW.

tia - Just get plenty of rest and try not to worry. That makes complete sense that the sac is expelling. You are in my prayers... everything will be okay and I am so sorry about the scare, you must have been terrified!

babies - let me know how you feel about traveling, I think we are staying in Florida for Christmas but I would like to take one last vacation before the baby comes... maybe to Hawaii again... we love it there but I am afraid to fly being pregnant.

truebeliver - what is an IC? How cool, you are having a boy! That is what I want, I know you are not supposed to say that... I will be happy with either but I really want a boy first. How far along were you when they could tell? I am not doing a CVS... I don' want anything intrusive.

AFM - My insurance is through Cigna and I am actually getting a $400 rebate for enrolling in this healthy baby plan before my 2nd tri-mester, that will give me extra money for baby clothes :-) I register a little at a time online when I am bored. So far we have the crib, armoire, bassinette, pack n play and stroller/car seat combo... the last 3 items were from friends. I am so confused with what bottles to buy, bath tubs, butt cream etc... that is so tough for me to register for. I am going to reserve our clubhouse for a shower in February... what are you all thinking for shower time frames?

Hi there!
So today I go in to see if the bloodclot is gone. I haven't bled at all since Thursday morning and have been on bedrest since then...kinda makes me crazy, that bedrest! I goto the doc this afternoon for an ultrasound, so I'll post later with more news. Thanks for all the prayers!

Cressy: How far along were you when the doc checked the length of your cervix? Mine said that would be done by the pernatologist when I'm 18 weeks, which seems really late considering I've been told in the past that I have a short cervix. I will talk to my doc again today about it. How are you feeling about having to get a c-section?

Tia - The did the test last week and I was just at 12 weeks. This week I am having the test for downs (nuchal?). I feel okay about the C-section. At least I know now but she kind of worry me when she said something about the placenta location being a reason (in combination with a long uterus) but then said it was normal... who knows? I will talk t my OB next week (they have me coming every 3 weeks). I am almost to my 2nd trimester... yahoo!!!! So when are you going to make the announcement?

Is anyone getting forgetful? I am so absent minded these days and in the what to expect when expecting it says that is due to hormones.
