firefly: SO SO SO SO happy for you! I want it to be me next time!!!!

Lou: We're in the same boat - really not ready to tell people about this. My husband and I have a pretty close group of friends - 4 couples including us. The first got pregnant in college, way before they wanted to, and it was a real struggle on their relationship. The second has a 14 month old, who is precious, but they will say that having that baby was the hardest thing their relationship will go through, almost ended it (one not ready to grow up and be a daddy). The 3rd almost got divorced this summer - wife had an affair, and the rest of us are still struggling to forgive her, but since her husband did, I think it's our responsibility to do so as well. They got back together in August, and WhAMMy! They're 8 weeks pregnant now.

My husband and I have been married for 4 years, and are completely committed to each other. We both volunteer with kids (husband has been a vol-basketball coach for 10 years, and I teach life skills classes to at risk youth). We are always the overnight babysitter of choice for our friends, because we both LOVE children. I just don't get it! It's not that I think we deserve it more than anyone else, but certainly not LESS!

My clinic doesn't close except for 2 weeks in the summer. I make sure to tell them every day I'm there how much I appreciate them, because holiday, Sunday morning, whenever, they are there if I need them to be. I haven't had my follow up appt yet, so the RE hasn't given me a percentage likelihood. Interesting fact though, my clinic seems to not have the same rating scale as everyone else. My embryo is a 3, on a 1-4 scale with 4 being the best (that's what the nurse told me; I'm going to check to make sure she wasn't mistaken bc nobody else seems to be on that scale). Anyhow, I'm going in to chat with a nurse today (my follow up appt with RE is Dec. 4) to see what exactly I need to do and ask questions. I'll see if they'll give me a percentage.

As far as your trip, have a BLAST! If you don't want to tell them, make up a reason you're taking the shots (vitamin deficiency or something). I decided it's not lying when you don't have a bad intention - you just aren't ready to tell!

Firefly-CONGRATS    THAT IS SO EXCITING!!!! OUR FIRST BFP

Lou-If you aren't ready to tell your girlfriends, can you do the shots in the bathroom? I know it's not ideal but it will eliminate the question asking!! how will you keep the medicine cold? but YAH for going on vacation. My DH and I usually go away December break but we didn't make plans this year because of the cycle and I really hope we get to go away February break!!!

BRMommy-I know how it must feel about what great parents you and your DH will be and how other people take it for granted  Keep up the positive thoughts for your frozen embie!!!

syanna-IVF can be stressful for many people and they deal with it differently. Please explain to your DH that yelling doesn't help your stress level which can affect your body!!!! GL with the shots

dodo-those numbers sound AMAZING!!!! GL with your transfer and I'm so jealous of the 10mm lining!! Mine doesn't get past 7!!!

AFM I have been having slight headaches with taking the Lupron and I go to DR tomorrow morning for b/w and u/s and hopefully start stims tomorrow night!!!

Hope to hear more BFP today

Firely – HUGE HUGE CONGRATULATIONS on your BFP!!! That’s fantastic news and gives all of us hope – especially those of us in the 2WW who are driving ourselves nuts examining every cramp and twinge!

Lou – have a great time on your trip. I have that week booked off and we are going to go somewhere hot if we get a BFN – have never been hoping NOT to go on holiday before! I know what you mean about doing your shots when you’re with people who don’t know. We stayed with relatives twice when I was stimming and I managed to say (at about 10pm) that I needed to take out my contact lenses and disappear to the bathroom for 5 mins (I had got quite quick at mixing my meds by then). You get quite crafty during this IVF stuff – but I think it’s better than telling people when you are not ready.

Well, I have been offline for a few days and just finished catching up with everyone’s posts. I was feeling so poorly after ER last wed that by Sun, they told me to come into the hosp. They kept me in and said it was probably v mild OHSS – thank goodness, I was ok to have my ET yesterday. Out of our 15 fertilised eggs, only 5 made it to blast stage. They transferred one that was showing signs of hatching and we have 4 frosties (the other 10 are just discarded as useless which is a bit gutting). To be honest, I was hoping for more than 4 blasts given that we had 15 high quality eggs, which just goes to show you how tough the whole process is. However, we were grateful to have the 1 to transfer. Anyway, on the way home from ET I started to feel ill and last night I was really poorly. The hospital said I had a temperature and it seems I have actually picked up a bug – completely separate to all the IVF stuff – which knocked me for 6 in itself. Am just praying that my body won’t think that it’s not in a fit state to carry a baby and cause me to get a BFN...something else to worry about!
Anyway – sorry not very many personals today – will post these when feeling much better. For the tracker – my pregnancy test is 11/28. – I have to do a HPT myself and call the hospital to let them know. I wish it was a blood test like you all seem to get in the US – I’d feel more certain that it was accurate!

syanna: all the meds that I am taking also make my mind weak sometimes and easily have tears. I agree with sarah_ruth79. i feel more tired than without meds. when i drink more water or take more rest, my mind is more clear

lou71: sorry, I'd never dealt with the situation before. i wouldn't know how to handle as well!

firefly: Congrats to your BFP! yay!

claud662: my lining was not above 7 before at another clinic. they told me that I might not able to carry a child. but when I switched to this clinic with a newer machine, the new RE told me my lining was 7.6. he increased the E2 dose and my lining became 10. my new RE told us that the difference is a new machine and a correct angle or position in looking at the lining. :D

katie99: thank you for the colorful chart!

Update and Congrats

Firefly - Congrats!!! What wonderful news. Just goes to show, you never know and it's out of our hands.

Olim78 - Well wishes to you, I hope you recover soon and get a BFP. You are so right about just how complicated this process is.

Well, DH and I went in for ER today at 8:00 CST. They retrieved only 7, less than we anticipated and that was not the only thing that we did not anticipate. DH's levels fell back down to pre-vericocelectomy - 8 million and 35% motility. We were planning on doing the natural route, but Dr. and embryologist recommended ICSI - so we agreed. As for my 7, Dr. thinks it was the lower aspiration pressure to be the cause. When pressures are not high enough, not all eggs may be collected. We decided to go with a lower aspiration pressure this cycle b/c last cycle we retrieved 12 and 11 were fractured (similar to cracked). Some say reasons for fracture can be E2 levels >5000, overmaturation of the oocytes, or high aspiration pressures. I did not have either of the first 2 sooooo..... we chose to decrease the aspiration pressures. So needless to say things could not have gotten worse than last time. We are not totally devastated, but definitely praying for the best as we are not sure how many are mature and how many will fertilize.

So after leaving, DH and I disregarded the Nurse Anesthetists recommendation and went out for Chinese. Yup, Shrimp Fried Rice, Steamed Pot Stickers, Won Ton Soup and General Tao Chicken! Yup, fried, greasy and heavy food.

Sorry for the long post. DH is asleep (I swear you would think he had the ER today).

Amysbabies - I have to agree with you 100%. I don't know how they do it! Katie99 and me2009 you are both great!
