I heard that the regular flu shot may contain thimerosol, too. I hear it depends on which one your doctor got into his office.

Here is some more good reading and info on alternative schedules according to Dr Miller: http://www.lewrockwell.com/miller/miller15.html

Both the seasonal flu shot and the H1N1 flu shots can be obtained in the thimerosol free formulations. You just need to ask your doctors office and insist on it. When I asked my OB/GYN office, they said that they keep the thimerosol free shots for their pregnant patients.

If your doctor's office (either yours or your childs) does not provide thimerosol free shots, do some calling around and find one that does.

A little more about thimerosol:

I wanted to bump this up and get more opinions.

When there was first talk of a vaccine a couple months ago, I was hesitant and did not want Ella to get it b/c it was so new, but think I am changing my mind.

Everything I read says that all medical professionals say it is safe and highly recommend children get it, and there are outbreaks all over the place. I am starting to think it is riskier not to get it.

The shots are in short supply, and my dr's office just got them in. Ella will need 2 doses, but the office said even if they run out before she gets her second, that having one dose is better than having none. This might be my only chance to get one for her, but of course it is not the preservative free shot. of course I would prefer that one, but with how short supplied the regular one is, I have a feeling the thimerosol free one will be in even shorter supply.

I also saw on the news the other day a new study, showing that mercury levels in children who do not have autism are equal or even higher than those diagnosed with the disorder. Here is a link to that story: http://www.examiner.com/x-15966-Norfolk ... ith-autism

So what does everyone think? Has your opinion changed? Are you getting it for yourself or your children? Has anyone already gotten it for themselves or their child?

Some children with compromised immunte systems will have trouble with the shot...my babysitter's grand daughter ended up in the hospital, BUT, she'd had open heart surgery at 3 months, and is not fully healthy.

If your children are healthy, get the shot...it'll only protect them this season but this is a vile flu virus and gets deeply into the lungs.

I am pro-vaccine, and do not understand why ANYONE would endanger their children by not getting them vaccinated...whether it be for the MMR vaccine or flu or Hep B...your job as mothers is to protect your children, so GET THEM VACCINATED...unless they have underlying conditions, which your pediatrician will advise you on.

It is irresponsible to not vaccinate your children.
Period, Amen. I am tired of the Quacks out there scaring mothers ...

Hi...

I can honestly say that vaccines do save lives but not all of them are necessary for babies/young children i.e. Hep B, Hep A, flu

That being said...H1N1 went through my whole house (except for me) 3 weeks ago! First my older son (16) and then the babies and then their father! I did not get sick at all except for a little loss of appetite but I attributed that to my baby girl's hospital stay about that time (they tested her there and that's how we are sure it was H1N1) due to dehydration cause by chronic diarrhea and vomiting. She has been sick with this for 9 weeks and is again in the hopsital but it has nothing to do with H1N1. The coughing is awful with that flu though and all 3 of my NON-asthmatic children were put on albuterol 3X a day for a week. Everyone is fine now, except for may baby girl's illness (she is in the hospital now since Sunday and undergoing GI tests) and we are now as immune or more than we would be with the shot. I have never had a flu shot in my life, haven't had the flu for 18 years and did not get this one so I suppose I have a good immune system as do my kids.

Whether or not to vaccinate with the flu is up to you but I see no good in it and it only adds more junk into a perfectly designed human body.

Michelle...

Autism has found to be linked with the workings of the IMMUNE system which is not mature in young children. Autism is NOT genetic because children seem to develop and then regress which is the definition of a disease on the body. A doctor from CA has done a LOT of research and he claims that the vaccine connection is in how the individual child's immune system responds to the virus injected into them. See www.nids.net to get a full picture of this belief.

I never believed it was the vaccine itself ONLY that the reaction to the virus was the culprit because I saw what happened to my older son... I DO vaccinate but not all at once and not with ALL the vaccines (I have been protected by many less than are out there now and my twins received what I received but they DID get rotavirus vaccination cause that can be very deadly).
