Egg Retrieval

Post by Brooklyngirl »

Hi everyone,

Thank you all for the good luck wishes. I am trying to keep everyone's name straight, but I can't, so that goes out to everyone.

I can remember Hazel, as we are close in our cycles and birthdays! So Happy Birthday Hazel and wish me one on Tuesday (you can all guess what I want for my birthday!). And fingers crossed for a successful outcome!

I had the egg retrieval today. Out of the 14 follicles, the RE got 11 eggs, which is 4 more than last time. I find out the number of embryos and the day of the transfer tomorrow.

I have been sleeping it off all day and am still crampy. This egg retrieval hurt more than the last and took more out of me. I may take tomorrow off to pamper myself, but what can I do that is safe? My favorite relaxation technique (a hot bath and good mystery) is a no-no!

Happy Holidays to all!

Tc4474: SO SO SO happy for you! Your beta # is great! Two week wait is going fine. I’m much more relaxed this time around. I wouldn’t necessarily say I’m more confident, just more confident in the fact that God is in control and I’m not!

Hazel: Happy Birthday, and happy PUPO! I’m glad you’ve come to join me in the 2WW (well, since both of ours were blasts, the 9 day wait!) Hope you had a great birthday!

Claudia: Glad to hear you’re doing the FET. I think having something to look forward to (and obsess over ) helps to move past the sadness. I hope everything works out for you this time!

Katie99: I’d take your 6 inches of snow to my 5 inches of rain, but that’s only because we never get snow that sticks!

Brooklyn: Remembering all of the names is very hard! I open a Word doc and take write my responses as I'm catching up and then copy and paste it into the text field. Just figured this out; and makes it much easier!

AFM, just got back from Houston. The Sound of Music was wonderful, and it was great to spend time with my family. Luckily, it wasn't the big wine fest that it usually is, so I didn't quite stick out like a sore thumb for not drinking!

Question that my DH brought up: Is it bad to be driving alot during the 2WW. I wouldn't think so, but it does get pretty bumpy, and I'm hoping that's not a bad thing.

BRMOMMY2B - Glad your 9 day wait is going well. I havent heard anything about driving. Maybe that would be a good question for Ghost on the main IVF board?

HAZEL - Glad to hear you got a good blast to transfer today. Happy Birthday and Happy PUPO!

I hope that Syanna and SarahRuth's betas go great on Monday! Lets get some more BFP's!!!

AFM - I got my second beta today. It was good but not great. I went from 245 to 455, an increase of 210 or an increase of 85%. I was worried that it didnt double but I guess all my clinic looks for is 60%. So now I am done with betas and have my first u/s on January 8.

Hello, just popping in to check up on all of you! Firstly, thank you to everyone for the lovely birthday wishes yesterday!!

I can't believe that I'm finally in the dreaded 2ww - I'm already going slowly mad and it's only 1dp5dt! I've printed off the list of what happens when on a 3dt and a 5dt and DH and I are going to check every day to see what "Zorba" should be doing, haha! I'm really no good at sitting around doing nothing and much prefer to keep active, so I'm climbing the walls a bit already! Because my clinic no longer does beta blood tests, they give you an HPT twinpack and ask you to test at home on day 18, which for us works out to be Saturday 2nd January. And if that's positive, even then they ask you to wait and test again on day 25 before they'll book you in for a 7 week u/s So we've got pretty much a whole two weeks to wait. I'm sort of tempted to test around day 14/15 but annoyingly DH is really insistent that we don't tempt fate by testing early, so he's going to make me wait until the 2nd January!! Aaaaaaaarrrrgh...

We find out this afternoon if either of the other two 'slow' embryos caught up enough overnight to be worth freezing. Given that we had two frosties which failed to thaw in July and so our FET got cancelled on the day of transfer, I would be so nervous to rely on a FET with only one frostie, so part of me is hoping that either both embryos make it to thaw, or neither do. How crazy am I?

Brooklyngirl - 11 eggs is amazing, well done! Thanks for the birthday wishes - back at you for tomorrow!! Can't wait to hear the fertilisation report today! Will they tell you then whether they want to do a day 3 or day 5 transfer? Day 5 would be Christmas Day, I guess, so how would that work? Sorry to hear that you felt crampy afterwards - I found that a heating pad on my stomach helped.

BRMommy2B - glad your 2ww/9 day wait is going OK. I would think the driving is fine, after all if it were a problem it would be one of the 'don'ts' which the RE gives you! Although I'm going stir crazy trying to rest, I think that like you, my mind set is more relaxed this time around, I'm much more in a 'what will be, will be' frame of mind. DH and I were so excited about our first cycle and were so madly disappointed when we got our BFN - I think we are more prepared for either outcome this time. p.s. Mine actually is a proper 2ww, even though we transferred a blast, because I have to do an HPT on day 18 rather than going in for a beta. What I wouldn't give for it to be a 9 day wait as well!! p.p.s. I also write my personals in a separate document while I spin through the thread, it's a great trick isn't it!

sarah_ruth - I'm keeping everything crossed for you today.

Skylar - are you getting your beta done today, or waiting until Wednesday? Either way, GL!

Syanna - GL for your beta today! Did you manage to resist POAS'ing all the way?

justwannabamom - our POAS queen, there's always at least one on every thread, hahaha! I really don't envy you the PIO, I'm doing the Crinone vaginal suppositories which as you say is messy and yucky but I'll take that over more needles any time.

LorrieS - you poor thing. I'm so hoping that the bleeding has stopped now, and you've been able to take a deep breath and get calm again.

tc4474 - no bedrest required for me, they just say to take it easy for a few days. So I'm staying at home just in front of the laptop and TV today and tomorrow, then my parents arrive Wednesday for Christmas. Not that I could go out today and tomorrow even if I wanted to, DH has commandeered my car as it's the only one capable of getting out of the driveway in the snow so that he can go to work! Yay for your second beta - from everything you read on these boards, it's a 60% increase they really look for, so 85% is perfect! Congratulations!

turtle - isn't it a great feeling when you get that final present wrapped and can take a deep breath and enjoy the holidays! Have you still managed to avoid the snow? What did you and DH think of Avatar? I've heard a couple of bad reviews. If we don't speak again before, have a GREAT time in NY over Christmas! Doing a dance to hold off AF for you...

katie99 - are you all ready for Christmas now? Are you already crossing off the days until 4th January so you can get rid of DH back to work so you get a nice quiet house back without TV and sports blaring out??? p.s. Knowing what boys are like with their toys, a snowblower is a great idea! Can it double as a leafblower at other times of the year?

That's all from me. Off to the sofa to watch TV for the afternoon - BORING!!

Sadly, neither of the other two embryos made it to freeze, so even though we started with 8 eggs, it all comes down to Zorba for this cycle.

Hazel - Sorry to hear about the other two embies not making it to the freeze but remeber, it only takes ONE!! I'm sending positive vibes your way that Zorba comes through for you. You can nick name it "Zorba the Great" (cheesy I know). Keep the positive attitude and try not to stress too much during the next few weeks!!

Not very good news

Post by Brooklyngirl »

Hi all,

I just got a call from the nurse. Out of 11 eggs, only 2 fertilized. I go in Wednesday for the ET. Needless to say, I am very disappointed. I was hoping for 5 or 6. Last time, out of the 3 that fertilized (from 7 eggs), only 2 made it to Day 3. I am nervous about these 2 not making it.

Oh well. Let's hope that these 2 do the trick!

syanna - I'm so sorry about another BFN. I didn't get my BFP until 13dpo. There's still hope. I know it's hard. HUGS

Hazel - Sorry about the others that didn't make it. ZORBA is ALL you need!!! :D

hjw - YAY for being in the TWW! I started testing the cheapies on 1dp5dt....I wanted to make sure I tested out the trigger and wanted to see the progress of that BFP!! I know it's a hard thing to do, but I thought WTH!

me2009 - 85% is awesome!!! My last beta was 66% and they said that was good. I guess they look for above 60%.

Claudia - I'm so happy your doing an FET!! It is good to have another try to look forward to. I know it's hard but it's so worth it in the end.

HI everyone else.

Well, after this weekend & this mornings scare of really bad cramps and heavier bleeding I ended up calling the dr and going in. The good news is that a sac was seen and it measured 6 weeks, so he said it looked good & I am right on track there. But we really couldn't see much of anything else as he said it was too early. He did see blood in my uterus but really didn't sound concerned. He said "you are still pg!!" I was crying and I looked over and DH had tears in his eyes.

I won't tell you all that I'm not still scared, because I'm petrified! But we go back on Thursday and I HOPE and PRAY :praying: we see our baby's heartbeat.

I'm going to go lay down now as the Dr said bedrest till they see me on Thursday.

God Bless.
