Tia: what a beautiful story. I'm so glad she is doing well and will soon be home with u. Pls post some pics here as i am not on FB. Would love to see the gorgeous one. Not sure if i will be going thru labor as my little girl is still breeched and right now they're planning on a planned C on April 6th at 12 noon. Either way i'm ok - just want to meet her. Could u distinguish the labor pains from say Braxton Hicks fairly easily? I've been getting a few BH contractions but so far my doctor says i've still got time. How is the breastfeeding going? Lots of hugs to u and u're family.

Babiesgalore: I never ever felt Braxton Hicks contractions. At 28 weeks they did the fetal fibronectin test on me because my doc thought I was having contractions but not feeling them because I kept spotting a little. It came back positive (they swab the cervix and tested it to see if it was secreting some hormone-this happens when your uterus contracts). They hospitalized me then and were able to stop the contractions for a few weeks...then Savannah had other plans As far as breastfeeding, she is able to latch on and nurse for a few minutes at a time...she takes breaks and that is completely normal. She nurses longer each time. Hey-I don't think I can post pics here...at least I wasn't able to before. I will try later but feel like I'm always swamped because we spend so much time down at the NICU. I'm sooo excited for you to meet your daughter. I just can't believ the feeling you get as a Mom and the emormous love you have for your baby!
Tia - glad to her Savannah has put on so much weight, you must be overjoyed.
I am feeling quite fed up and I know I shouldn't be. We went to the hospital on thursday and I had a membrane sweep and stretch. After the examination the doctor told me I was 3cm dilated already and my cervix is fully effaced. He said he would expect me to be in labour soon (although technically I already was in early labour). Well thursday night I started having contractions, after 3 hours they just stopped. The same thing friday morning. Now nothing. I have had a lot of signs I am going into labour and just feel like a time bomb!
I have been booked in for full inducement on thursday if nothing else happens, so I guess it is not really that long to go.
Plus I have the stress of my parents which I really don't need now. My mum is adamant she will visit as soon as I am in labour for a few days but my dad has booked a hotel room to arrive next sunday. The thing is they have not seen each other or spoken since a very bitter and messy divorce 20 years ago. I know they should just get on for our sakes but I really can't handle the worry right now.
Sorry for going on but this last week has been the worst since the 2ww!
Take care all

Just to update you all, my waters broke this afternoon, yeah! Still no contractions but going in tomorrow to have them started and get baby delivered. I am scared now but very very excited too. Time to meet our son.
One tip for you guys that I did not know, make sure you have loads of maternity / super absorbent pads in case your waters break at home cos you really will need them.
Tia - so happy for you taking your little girl home.

Ange - Wow! You must be so excited! I can't wait to hear how everything goes. Today should be the day you have your baby. I will be thinking about you and saying a prayer!
Tia - I think today is the day you get to bring Savannah home. I just love watching her video... sooooo sweet. Thank you for taking the time to answer all those questions. How are you recovering? Are you feeling back to normal? I am really worried about getting the baby blues, did you feel any of that. I'm very sensitive to hormones and at the beginning of this pregnancy I was so emotional.
Everything is going well with me. I had a 35 week ultrasound last week and baby was measuring in the 39 percentile, so since I have maintained a good diet with the diabetes... she is growing right where she should be. No giant baby so far. I was having a pain on my left side and they saw a fibroid about the size of a finger tip but told me not to worry, it is brought on by pregnancy hormones (like the ones I injected myself with for a couple months for IVF). Still planning on being indued on April 24. Yahoo!
Ange: congrats. Hope everything is going well and u've had u're baby already. Keeping u in my thoughts.
Tia: How are u doing? and how is darling savannah? good luck and yes thanks for taking the time to answer all our crazy questions.
Cressie: glad things are going well. my diabetes is also good although am on a very small dose of insulin in the evening.
Going in for planned c-section on april 6th as baby is breeched. am so ready right now that i will take anything. been so uncomfortable at nights - i sometime end up sleeping on our glider.
Good luck to everyone. We are almost there and some already there:-)

Tomorrow morning is it for us! Our c-section is scheduled for 7:30 am, and I feel like I'm in a bit of a fog. While it seemed to take forever, I cannot believe how quickly the day got here. TOMORROW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Babies - I too have been SO uncomfortable at night and have taken to sleeping in an almost upright position. I will be SO excited to sleep on my back again tomorrow!

Dogz: Congrats and good luck for tomorrow. Am sure u must be so excited and yes finally to sleeping on our backs. Keep us posted when u can. Keeping u in our thoughts. Is there a reason why they're doing a c for u or was that u're choice? Hugs
Dogz - Lots of luck tomorrow. Hope the labor is a breeze. Please keep us posted.
Babies - I am on a medication called Glyburide - I take 5mg in the am and pm. They did say that they may switch to insulin but I am not sure which is safer. I have heard pros for each. I cant believe you are about to have your baby too!!!! Best of luck!!!
Can't write too much as I am now holding my little boy. He was born on 29/3 at 14.09 after 12 hours of labour. He is called Freddie Matthew Thornton and weighed 8lb 14oz.
Hope all is well dogz.

I'llbe honest cress labour was hard. He was back to back to start with and had to spin round. I was fully dilated for 2 hours before he did this. The midwives were fantastic and argued with the doctors to prevent a forceps delivery or c-section. All I would say is if possible an epidural is a must. The moment he was born and put on me was amazing and there is nothing that compares to that.
DH was the perfect birth partner and from not wanting to see what is going on actually watched everything. He is scared of me ever having to do it again though, me too!
dogz - hope you and baby are doing well.
Tia - how is Savannah doing at home?

I've been totally MIA forever! I just finished catching up on everyone. We are all so close! I've seen pictures of sweet Savannah on Facebook. She is an absolute doll!
I am 36 weeks and in waiting mode. So far, the GD hasn't been much of an issue and my blood pressure is remaining low. My BP is what caused me to be induced at 36 weeks with my daughter. So far so good on that. So, it looks like I could go for another few weeks. We are almost ready.....just need to shop for a few more things and pack my hospital bag. I'm still working....only because I sit all day at work, so I will work as long as I can and save my leave for after the birth. I can't wait to hear everyone's birth stories! I'm probably further behind than most - my official due date isn't until 4/29.
My officail due date is April 23rd. Exactly 3 weeks from today.
They found some protein in my urine, which could be a sign of preeclamsia but my blood pressure is low and I am not swollen. So I have to collect my urine for 24 hours and keep it in the fridge. Fun, fun. Never a dull-moment in this pregnancy... I went from placenta previa, to gestational diabetes, then they found a fibroid on my uterus and now this. My mom says the other day, "Geez, this has been a hard pregnancy." But you know what, none of that has even phased me... I guess when you try so hard to have your little miracle all this is a breeze... just to be pregnant is worth the additional pooking, prooding and extra running around to doctors appointments. I am sure you all understand.
I am just so happy she is staying put, today is 36 weeks and I feel her all the time. She just had the hiccups a little while ago. She is in the 39th percentile, so she is not too big... thank God.
I feel like I am getting so huge, I am pretty sure she dropped. Oh, did I mention the hemhroids? Dear God, they are painful.
So glad to hear all the mommies and babies are doing great!!!!!!
