Karen - They normally do that as part of the 20w u/s, so I haven't thought about getting an NTS sooner since I am still young and have no family history of Downs. I haven't been to a real OB yet, not till the 19th so I haven't dicussed it either. I didn't know that it was harder to tell for twins though. Right now I am worried about enough, I don't want to worry about any birth defects on top of it. lol It is strange to think about it though... what if there is some defect? Are you going to go ahead and do it in 2 weeks?

Katie - Next Friday and your get to see your bean again??? How exciting that DH will be finally be able to see it too! Think he will tear up? I know both of us did when we saw ours. I bawled like a baby when I saw two heartbeats for the first time too. Then I again, I bawled for no reason yesterday. I guess I am just a soppy mess. lol

Gi - Thanks, I am hoping everything comes back awesome! The RE didn't want to start lowing my prog yet because of the bleeding, wonder if regardless of the numbers if he will tell me to keep the same dose this time. Guess I will find out.

Meganlynn - YAY for seeing the little peanut! Glad all is well! :) Not sure why some OB's want a pap right away. I think they should leave it be, at least until the 2nd trimester.

Question - I have a couple tickers saved on different sites. On Baby-gaga, Tickerfactory and Babystrology... after I put my due date in it says that I am 9 weeks 4 days, but Lilypie says I am 9 weeks 5 days. Anyone know why it would be telling me two different days?

Hi everyone -

We're having some beautiful spring weather today -finally, and what do you know but today I actually feel a little energy ( thats a new feeling  )
So I guess I should take advantage of that and get some errands done  I hope that I'm turning a new corner now because i asctually feel pretty darn good for a change

Karen I cant help you out on your question for twin mommies, but my gut tells me that after your PGD that your beans are in good shape. Did your RE recommend anything other than the 1st trimester screen? I'm fairly sure its just part of a standard OB workup - at least thats the way my OB made it sound.

Steph I think you've gotten NTS confused with another test - NTS must be done between 11 and 14 weeks. From what I understand this 1st trimester screening consists of the NTS and some detailed b/w ( seems the b/w takes a week to get the results from. And a pap is just part of your initial OB appt because it screens for STDs, infections as well as precancerous cells. An OB would be considered negligent to skip their standard testing when taking on a new patient. And darn right I think my DH is going to tear up at the u/s next week. I have for both u/s so far but they were soooo long ago now that I'm starting to forget them....

Meganlynn Yiiippee for a HB of 166! How are you feeling?

Hope Good luck with your first OB appt tomorrow! Boy, do I hope that your m/s is cutting you break!

Claudia I've got everything crossed for a nice strong heartbeat for you tomorrow!

Lou how are you doing? Are you still able to handle working those many hours?

Ronda Has your m/s subsided at all? Mine sort of stopped around 9-9.5 weeks so I'm hoping the same happens for you. makes it so hard to get anything done doesnt it?

hugs & prayers to us all - xoxo

Katie - I suppose I am... or just have been misinformed. I suppose I can talk to my OB about it since I will be 11 weeks when I see him and try to get one. I am not scared anything is wrong, but of course we love to see our little ones as much as possible. :) So how is that baby bump coming along? Seems as though your m/s is gone and you are going full steam ahead into the awesome 2nd trimester. I told my DH the first is scarey, the 2nd is easy and fun and the third is uncomfortable.

Katie -- I'm doing pretty good still. Just had a migraine yesterday which made me nauseous. Better today. No m/s yet. I think you're right, I may be the one to get the pass! I'm still working my hours. I have a double shift on Friday but I'm only doing 2 more of those before I stop indefinitely. I will be picking up some extra Sundays though. Grrr. It still seems so strange to me about what my SIL did at Easter dinner. I do really hope IVF works for her. Maybe she'll have 2 or 3 and then she can't dislike me anymore!!! Ha!

Steph -- How's the spotting? Lessening I hope? It's a relief to have our secret out with the family. I'm so happy my aunt was happy because I was worried about her reaction a little bit. I just feel bad for my SIL now.

Karen -- Glad the OB appt went well. I'm looking forward to mine. The thumb sucking sounds amazing. Are you in maternity clothes yet?

Gi -- Yup... belly growing. How did your blood test go? NK cells low?

Megan -- Glad everything looking good for you!

Back to work! Boss is calling me.... sorry to cut it short!

Hi pregnant mamas....
It has been a long time... many things happened since last week. First I had food poisoning on wednesday night. I empty myself from top to bottom (in the same time..TMI sorry) and on Thursday morning as well. The stomach cramps were so painful I tought I was having a miscarriage..but no blood thanks god. I emailed my RE about it and he said " if it worsen, go to the ER", well thanks, this is helpul... Thanks for Dr. Google, everwhere it says it is not a big deal...so I am better now. I had a quiet week end being tired but relaxed. I cannot wait for the next u/s on Monday to make sure the baby is okay.
Today my energy came back so I went for a 4 miles walk with my dog, I came back dead tired, next time I will do less....

Katie: next Friday is coming soon...Your DH will cry.. this is so cute.... Glad your energy is coming back

Gi: I hope your killer cells are low…keep us updated.

Steph: Are your still spotting? I hope it stops soon. How about your mood swing? I am having it too, I hate everyone sometimes… but I know it’s the hormones so it helps to keep it cool.

Lou: I am sorry about your SIL. I am sure she does not hate you…My SILs are both baby making machine and honestly even if I was always happy for them, I have to admit that I was a tad jealous too. I always had a fake smile. never cried or anything (but when I get to my home, i was sad because I was not the one pregnant). It took me a while to accept my infertillity and having people sharing their struggle with me made me feel normal. I am sure you have your reasons not to share your IVF experience but may be it would also help her. Or your can refer her to this site (you just heard about it from someone else...). Anyway... I heard Prague is supposed to be the most beautiful city in the world. Enjoy...I miss Europe. Rome or Paris sounds great...depending on when you go, Rome might be really hot (avoid Italy in the summer) but it is dry heat so not too bad...

Ronda: I hope you feel better with your m/s

Claudia: I am thinking of you for your u/s tomorrow so you can feel better and see a strong HB.

Hope: Your OB appointment is tomorrow already. Good luck. I hope you get better with your m/s

AFM: I have a dilemma. On Thursday, I am going to yet another job interview. This is the second and final one with this company. I went last week and did not say anything about the pregnancy. Now I have to go again on Thursday and I am not sure if I should say anything. I know the law does not require me to say anyting and I might get discriminated against if I say anything but on the other side I feel bad starting a job and 2 weeks after starting I tell them I will not be there for 3 months starting in November...I am a very honest person, cannot tell a lie and I dont feel comfortable not telling them anything. However I want the job and do not want to be discriminated against. Having an accent is alreday hard enough that I dont need more inconvenience...I would love to hear what you girls think...I was thinking about not saying anyting until they make me an actual offer...may be I wont get the job even if I stay quiet..so I am not sure what to do....

Thanks. I am sorry for everyone I forgot but I am thinking to all of you...Love

Positive - Sorry to hear about the food poisening.. don't eat whatever that was again! At least it is gone and you and baby are fine! As far as your interview. I say don't tell them. A lot of women don't even know they are pregnant by this time anyway. I know you are an honest person, but with the economy the way it is, sometimes you must ommit. With little one on the way I am sure the income will help. Good luck!

Lou - Many of us had to go through IVF many times. So I am hopeful for your SIL. I am not sure what her situation is, but maybe you can be a helpful ear. Maybe donor embies or donor sperm will work better? I hope she gets her miracle baby just like we all are.

AFM - I got my b/w today and then got WIC. Seems as though as a family of going on 5, we qualify so YAY! I drink a lot of milk so that will be nice. They also have fruits and veggies on there now! So I got my results of my test just a little bit ago, my estrogen is up in the 4,000's and my progesterone is 59.6 so everything is going up nicely they said. I don't go back to RE at all for anything anymore. No more estradol and I drop from 100ml to 75 tonight for 7 days, then 50 for 7 days then 25 for 7 days... that will bring me to the end of week 12 where I won't need PIO at all. When I go to the OB, I will ask him to include estradol and progesterone essays with my b/w because I will still want to make sure everything is rising well. :) My spotting for the last two days has been very minimal... I hope it stays that way. It is actually looking like it might be done... FINALLY!!! (knock on wood) :D

Positive -- Wow... what a dilemma you've got! I am a hiring manager and I know I cannot ask a question like that but would appreciate someone who would offer that information. However, I can't lie, it would affect my thinking and if I had other equally qualified candidates, then I wouldn't hire the one who told me they were pregnant. My best advice for job interviews is to keep all personal information to yourself. Don't talk about your family or family planning at all. However, once you get the job and are on the payroll training. Then have a talk with your boss and let them know you are pregnant. It's a bad idea to wait too long as they will need arrangements to cover for you when you are off. Once hired, they cannot discriminate against you for starting a family. Just assure them at the interview that you can fulfill the requirements of the job.
Good luck!!!

Hi everyone -

It seems a little quiet lately. Where are you guys?
I just got one of the best haircuts i've ever gotten, so its looking like a good day for me  What is everyone's take on the "dont color your hair while pregnant thing?" I'm wondering if there is any basis to that? Cause its almost that time - darn grays at thr root line - ugh
Well since its going to be hot here today - I guess its a good time to wash both dogs outside - bye bye great hair...

Claudia HOORAY for seeing a strong heartbeat!! Hopefully now you'll feel more relaxed! How are you feeling?

Steph I dont really have any fear of Down's - but it were MY eggs then I'd be worried. I'm just looking forward to a 45 minute u/s! Any news on your move yet? You must be super excited to be getting a brand new house! I've got my fingers crossed that you're finally done with that unwelcome spotting for good!

Lou I'm sure that your SIL was just having a hard time seeing past her pain. If she went through six unsuccessful cycles, it gets really hard to see anything past that. At least it was getting like that for me. Give her some time to get used to the idea. I'm sorry that you've been getting migraines - they sound awful! I'm glad to hear that you're almost done working double shifts - but now adding Sundays? ugh

Hope Good luck at your OB appt today! Have you been feeling any better?

Positive I'm with them too. in this economy I think it might be better to just not say anything yet. Good luck with your interview!

OK off to wrestle the dogs into being clean  - xoxo

Katie - I'm always talking. lol Not sure where many of the other girls are, maybe m/s has a few out of the loop. About the hair coloring... it is safe so don't worry. There use to be worry because back in the day products use to contain formaldahyde, but they don't anymore. All you have to make sure of is the place that you go is well ventilated, whether it is for your hair or nails. Sometimes the smells can get to you. You know how I learned this? Pregnancy for Dummies! It is an awesome book, they also have it on DVD! As for me... spotting is still there but less than it has ever been for as long as it has ever been so I have my fingers crossed. No word on the move yet.

Positive - Good luck on your interview!

Claudia - Katie gave you congrats on a heartbeat but I don't see your post??? Not sure why... I have looked and looked. But YAY from me too. lol Those heartbeats always help us worried mommies calm down!

Hi all,

I've been reading all your great posts and finaly decided this is not a figment of my imagination and I should really join the thread. I hope in the future to be better about the personals. I don't know if someone has already gone over do's and don't or symptoms but I would love to hear what your most memerable are. I can get over freaking out over every twinge but I'm tring to keep my googling to a minimum. We've been to our first Ob appt. but still have blood drawn at the RE's because I'm not off the prometruim (little pink progesterone pills). The Ob doesn't seam to give you the #'s when he's doing the u/s like the Re does. So I don't know what the heart beat was last time. I was 13 weeks yesterday - where do you believe the first trimester ends? 12,13,14weeks? I was so read up on all my fertility treatments and the #'s that should go with it that I feel completely stupid about the actual pregnancy. Any advice is welcome.

Malya - Welcome!! I think we all use Google way more then we should. lol I know I do! As far as where the 2nd trimester begins, the way I look at it is if you count by weeks, it is the 13th week and if you count by a 9 month calendar, then 14 weeks. Either way, I think most women are feeling a sigh of relief when they hit week 12. Do's and don't's... not exactly sure what you mean by that, but by my interpretation... I say don't go crazy worrying yourself about every little thing. It is normal to be on edge after going through all we wet through to get here, but it isn't going to help anything by panicing. I say do bond with your baby(ies) as soon as possible. I put my hand on my belly and talk to them, telling them they are perfectly healthy and growing fine as well as how I can't wait to hold them in m arms. It isn't just a bonding method, but a way to make yourself feel good and reassured as well. As far as symtoms, I had some nausea that seems to be going away and pretty much nonexistant now, some sore knockers and a few extra trips to the loo. So how about you? Any lessons learned or anything? Again, welcome to the thread, congrats on your little miracle!

Katie -- I know! I got roped into adding a few Sundays. I'm determined not to do every other though. Today I'm feeling great. Yesterday I felt good enough to go to the gym and do arms and shoulders. I also did a bit of cardio on the elliptical. Luckily, it's just been the one headache. But, ugh! It was horrible!!!

Malya -- Welcome! I thought the second trimester was after 12 weeks.... I am pretty naive on this too so I could be wrong. Who out there knows the answer? Now I'm curious too!!!

AFM -- Excited. We go to see our travel agent tonight who is working on our trip to Paris/Prague. Since DH and I are both HUGE tennis fans and players, and we will be in Paris during the Roland Garros tournament, we have decided to get tickets and go! I've been to the US Open.... and I've been to Wimbeldon... but I haven't been to the French! Sooooo excited. I'm also feeling really good today. Been having sharp lower right abdominal pains when I cough, etc. I looked it up and it sounds like "round ligament pain" however I'm only 8 weeks... which worries me! Anyone else having this? It's not cramping at all. It's definitely structural.
Have a good day everyone!

Hi everyone,

Can't believe I've missed so much of this thread already! The August babies thread I was on fizzled out so I didn't know where to go. Anyway, I've missed chatting to everyone...so here I am.

Lou - Aaarrrrrgh! Congratulations, can't believe I missed your BFP at long last. I'm sooooo pleased for you and your DH. :D Hope you are feeling ok - although it sounds like you had a migraine - I hope they don't carry on.

It will take me a while to catch up with who is on here, but thank you Katie for setting up another great thread - it's nice to be back, on the happier side of things for a change.

Just by way of a catch up, I've had scans at 7wks, 8 wks (because I fell down the stairs on Christmas eve - very scary but all was ok thank god - was petrified I would miscarry after getting so far and actually getting pregnant), 12 weeks and 20 weeks. We have decided not to find out the sex of the baby and to keep it as a surprise. My Mum always said that the surprise of not knowing was the only thing that kept her going at the end!

We haven't decided on any names yet, partly because we haven't really discussed them but also because there's so few that we both like!!!

I felt the baby properly kick for the first time last week, when I was 22 weeks. This is actually quite late to feel the baby move for the first time from everything I have read. So from about 15 weeks I have been stressing about not having felt any movement, which I found strange given that every scan we had showed the baby wriggling around all over the place - so bizzare that something is moving around inside you and you can't even feel it.

Now that I have felt it kick, it has really developed some strength in the last week - enough to be able to see the kicks and for my DH to feel them too - which was so nice for him. It really is amazing. If you lie down or sit still, the baby tends to wake up and move about, so it's a good way to test that it's still moving when you haven't felt it for a while. Not sure I'll get away with lying on the floor at work though! Haha, there's always something to stress about!

I was really lucky on the MS front - was never actually sick and only nauseous from weeks 10-16 so can't complain. However, I have had really back lower back ache since 15 weeks, which I wasn't expecting at all. I thought that kind of thing only came on in the last few weeks! Pregnany yoga and acupuncture are helping a bot with that though.

Bump is definitely coming along nicely though - I love having it and people being able to tell that I'm pregnant - I've wanted it for so long and seen so many other friends/family members with them, I am trying to enjoy every second in case it's the only baby we ever have.

Anyway, enough from me - I look forward to getting to know everyone and to hear all of your pregancy stories.
xx
