Re: Summer cycle group

Post by amanda1979 »

hi everyone,
my nurse called yesterday said everything looks great from the blood work, but I don't go back for another us until Monday morning. I work at a hospital as an x-ray technologist and I am fighting the urge to have one of the us girls scan me to see if there is any progress. I know I shouldn't but man I really want to. I have no idea how you all keep up with what is going on with anyone on here. I am going to a pen & paper and write down everyone's name & what is going with each of you so I can keep up:) Until then I hope everyone is doing well with which ever phase of this process they are going through.

Hi All,
Hope everyone had a nice relaxing Saturday. I got some news today. I'm having my egg retrieval on Monday morn. The nurse called while I was on the road to my future sister in law's batchelerette party. She was supposed to call my house and leave the instructions with my husband. Had to pull over and scribble notes on any scrap of paper I could find. Not happy with that. Anyway, now that I'm done ranting, I do my ovadril injection at 1:30AM. Trying to stay awake till then. It didn't sound too good. :? She said I only have 2 good possibilities, a 23 and a 15 and alot of immature folicles. She also said there may be more when they do the retrieval but they won't know until then. They sounded alot more positive the last visit. I was shocked and dissapointed at that update. It almost sounded like she was trying to talk me out of IVF. They prefer to have around 5 to work with for genetic testing. I'm trying to stay positive but it's getting difficult. I guess my age of 46 is catching up with me.
Thanks to everyone for all your support. I'll do some more follie dances to keep them growing till Monday. I'll keep you posted.
Love and Baby Dust to All,

Chili: I'm sorry the news wasnt terrific, but keep in mind that it only takes 1. Hoping and praying that on Monday they will find more great follies. Grow Follies Grow!!! Good Luck and Big Hugs.

Lou: How was the festival? We went to an Italian one last night (we're not Italian), and it was sooo much fun. The Italian fireworks were just amazing. I'm feeling pretty anxious as well. We will just have to keep busy and try to keep sane. Maybe try massage for relaxation. I did this last time, when my anxiety was even worse...and it helped alot. So awesome that your friend will be doing some acupuncture for you...ask her to also do stress relieving acupuncture on you now...that should help too.

Amanda: I would be sneaking ultrasound peaks too, lol. I used to do the pen and paper method...and now I just open a second page here and read from one and write on the other, flipping back and forth, lol. I also read from the last post first and go backwards so that I dont ask questions that are later answered in another post. Makes it sooo much easier and faster, too.

Nancy: Hi and Welcome Nancy! Glad you have joined us...we need lots of cheerleaders and we are good support as well for every step along the way...lots of knowledgeable women on this board. Once the process gets rolling...you'll be PUPO in no time.

Franny: Yay for 4 good follies so far! What a day you had, geesh! Hope you had a nice evening to make up for it. How was the movie? How did your appt go this morning? I have to drive 45 minutes for every visit...it stinks...but worth it. Does your nurse who makes the order know that you have insurance and paying a copay? Mine didnt realize at first and was ordering as little as possible to save me money...but when she found out that I had insurance would order me extra/plenty so as to not have to order more. I would mention it next time and explain that you can save a copay, if she orders enough this time...hopefully there wont be a next time though.

Fitz: Geesh, I dont blame you at all. How horrifying. I'm so so sorry. My girlfriend just had her embryo split into identicals last week...luckily there are 2 sacs. Glad to hear everything is moving right along. Good Luck on Monday and keep us posted! When do you expect transfer then?

Ryann: So glad to hear that surgery is over and that you are recovering well. I'm doing the AF dance for you. Hope it gets here soon! My husbands district is starting a week later this year than the past due to snow days or something. So weird. We'll be here to root you on. Keep us posted!

Lauren: 4 embryos...I am thinking along the same lines myself. We have always done 3 and gotten pregnant with 1...both times. However, my embryos were from 2.5 yrs ago...so thinking that 4 just might do the trick, now. Dunno. So hard. We will see how things go and how much has changed since my 40's are here now. Have you always done 3 as well?

Sonya: How are you feeling mama? Anything new to report?

Karin: I posted your MC funny to my mommy's board...I loved it...sooo funny.

Klinger (Amanda): There will be quite a few girls with you and we will also be here to root you on...no worries! I dont remember my antral follie count for sure, but think it was 12-14 which is what I ended up with...I will have to ask on the next one in less than 2 weeks now. I had 14, but they could only get to 12. 9 for one ovary is terrific!!

Sunshine: I think most clinics will allow you to transfer just 1. I dont think they can tell you no. How was the concert? Who did you see?

Annpage: Hi and Welcome! I am hoping the heartburn is a great sign for you! Transferring 4 on your first IVF has got to result in a BFP...very promising!!! Soo exciting! The 17th cant get here soon enough (for me to hear all about it). lol Do you plan to POAS? Betas are different for every clinic. Mine does 2...1 week apart and then books your ultrasound. Most clinics do 2 or 3..2 days apart. Yes, they used to say double every other day...but now say 66% increase every other day...HOWEVER...I have seen some really slow rising betas and very low betas...make it to healthy beautiful babies over the years. So nothing is for certain when it comes to betas. The only thing they are really good for and making sure the numbers dont decrease.

Teresa: How did your acupuncture appt go? My DH had to walk away from watching "Extraordinary Measures" the other night...it was making him very sad to see those kids in wheelchairs and so sick. He cant handle those kinds of movies right now.

Amaut: How are you doing? Have you made any decisions yet?

Claudia: How cool is that? I cant wait to see this movie and watch for the little girl in the pink hat now. lol

Wewannababy: Hi and Welcome! So exciting to be getting started I am sure. Sorry that the first protocol didnt work for you...hopefully follistim is your magic. Keep us posted.

Maggieluv: How are you doing and feeling? Please keep us posted.

How's everyone else doing? Big Hugs to all!

Moorebaby...thanks for adding me to the list!

Tammy...I was wondering how you put the picture in your signature?? I think it's nice to put faces to names here!

chilipepper...good luck with your ER!!

amanda...I feel the SAME way with keeping up with everyone on here. Hopefully as I get to know everyone a little better it will become easier?? Oh...and if I were in your shoes and had the ability to get an ultrasound, I SOOO would!

AFM...nothing to report at all :( I go on 10mg of Provera for 10 days every month to bring on AF. I have been pretty consistent with getting it on day 3 off the pill. This time around the doc put me on 10mg for 7 days. I have been off for 5 days now with nothing. I'm getting a little worried...anyone have experience with Provera??

I also thought I would share a story that made me cringe!! This morning at Costco, standing in line with my DH we were watching a cart with a couple of boys acting like boys. They were young...3 maybe?? Couldn't keep their hands off of everything around them, etc. Well, the lady behind us in line looks me RIGHT in the eyes and says "Children like that make my ovaries shrivel." Dead serious. I was furious. I would have loved to tell her all about my ovaries and how I wish they would produce SOMETHING...even a "child like that". I know people don't look at me and know I have fertility issues...but seriously???

I hope you all had a great weekend!

Ryann,
I have learned that people just never cease to amaze me and never know when to shut up. I have always wished that I would have had the guts to come back with a snide remark and say something clever right back ....but never can and never do. lol

For the picture...go to photobucket.com and shrink a picture down to about 120-140 or so in size...come back to your signature area and copy and paste the 4th one down (last one under the picture) with the around it. You can use any shrinking site to do this...just use the link to c & p with [img] around it. Hope that helps...if not I can give your more instructions. I love to see faces to the names, too.

Franny- 4 SWEET FOLLIES!!!! Awesome! I would be so stoked right now if I were you!

Chili- Hey girl! I know that 2 mature and a few other immature follies isn't what you expected, but it only takes one. I went to my acupuncturist yesterday and he told me a story about a patient that he and my RE shared. I was asking him what he thought my next course of action should be in his opinion. He said natural cycle IVF. Anyway, he said that his patient was 41 and had a low FSH and was only producing 1 follicle with stim after a few tries. For some reason her follicles weren't maturing. My RE made the decision to go in a retrieve the ONE follicle at 14. He got it....did the transfer...BOOM she got pregnant. My acupuncturist said that it shocked him and everyone that such a small follicle would become an embryo. She carried the baby to full term and he is healthy. My RE has told me that he's had a couple of 1 egg retrievals, but is always afraid because you could lose the one trying to retrieve it. He said that he only does it as a last resort. He also honest enough to say that some have resorted in no success. So...the moral of the story is....keep the faith. It only takes ONE and if it's your time...it will happen. I know it's hard not to get caught up on the numbers and statistics. I do it too. His story yesterday left me with so much hope and I hope that it helps you too.

AFM- I am optimistic and hopeful. I have no symptoms of anything. I had a great weekend with my DH. We are enjoying the alone time while my daughter(niece) is in ATL. I hope that everyone had a great weekend! I will catch up with you other ladies soon.

Take care.

hi everyone!
i hope everyone is having a good weekend! we just lost power here for about 3 hours from a blown transformer from all this heat i think. i was starting to panic about my meds, but thankfully it came back on so no worries.
i'm gonna try and do some personals, but my brain is kinda loopy from my stims so if i miss someone i am so sorry.

tammy hi hun! yeah i think i'm kinda spoiled because i usually only have to drive 10 minutes to my clinic, but on sunday's only the main office is open, and its down in MA. so i need to complain about it haha. i know alot of people have much longer drives everytime and i am very lucky. i swear they knew i had insurance...i mean ive been doing this for a year..ya would think they would know me by now. oh and if there is a next time...i will be switching clinics so i wont have to worry about it again. how are the BCP's going?

chili i know that you are disappointed with only 2 follies, but the trigger actually helps mature follies so it might just be enough to make some of the smaller ones catch up. you might just be surprised when you wake up tomorrow after ER with more eggs then you thought. PMA PMA PMA!! please try to relax and enjoy your day of no meds!! good luck tomorrow!! i have everything crossed for you!

lou how was the festival? what kinda food did you eat? (i have a one track mind hahaha) was it on lake michigan? did i ever tell you i used to live in michigan, and i would go to chi-town as often as i could. i loved it there! thanks for cheering me on! you are so sweet! much love to you!! xoxoxo :D

amanda did you end up cheating and having your friend do an U/S for you?? good luck tomorrow!! we might end up being pretty close in our cycles. :D

nancy welcome! hope you stick around and keep us company. you will learn alot from these boards so by the time you go for you first appointment you will be more relaxed and have a better understanding of the process. good luck!

lauren you're gonna put back 4?? i didnt know you decided to do that! i'm sure if your RE thinks its ok then you'll be fine. maybe twins!!! :D less then a week then you are done with BCP's!! woooohoooo!! oh and i go to freedom pharmacy..they are out of byfield MA. they are usually really good..this was the first time they sent me the wrong meds..and of course it happened on a weekend. anytime i try to stock up on meds my RE switches my meds to something new...wicked annoying!! i try not to stress, but with all these hormones its hard not to drive yourself crazy ya know?? how are you doing??

fitz good luck with your b/w tomorrow! i totally remember that happening to you, and i felt terrible! i totally understand only wanting to put 1 back this time!! i would be so scared. i think its amazing that you are trying again though. you are so brave and strong! xoxo

es you are rocking at the list!!! it must be the teacher in you coming out!! :D
i totally shouldve gotten a pedi, but when i got home my power went out, and i totally forgot to go do something! oh well...maybe after next SnS. they always tell me no nailpolish for my ER though, and i'm not sure if its just for my fingers or if its for toes too??

claud it makes me so happy to see you checking in on me!!! you are an awesome friend! :D :D

afm so i went and had my SnS this morning. got up at 6am...didnt get home until 930am! the place was mobbed today!! at my local clinic there are usually only 2 other woman there...if there are 4 of us i am in shock! today we go down to the main office where all the ER, and ET's happen, and it is a zoo!! there wasnt even seats open in the waiting room. it took forever!! it was kinda nice to know that i'm not alone, but its also crazy how many other couples have problems with infertility. i know these boards are filled with "our" kind, but seeing it in person, and then picturing ever other clinic in the country just as crowded it blows my mind. there's got to be something going on that is causing such a spike in infertility. is it all because we are starting to have families later in life? i'm sure some of it is, but it cant fully be the reason...because my RE said i probably had endo ever since i started AF. is it from all the chemicals that we spread on our food?? the way we raise the animals we eat? i dont know, but its crazy, and scary. as i was sitting waiting for my name to be called i also started doing some math...and my clinic is making a fortune!!! when i talked to the lady doing my bloodwork she said she had 25 woman today! if each of those 25 woman are doing IVF...well thats just crazy money!! i went into the wrong profession haha
anyway my rant is over...
so when it was finally my turn i found out i still have 4 good sized follies...13, 12,12,11...which is pretty good for me so far. what makes me upset is that i have 13 follies under 10mm!! the thing that stinks is that they never grow. they just stay small and no matter what we try they wont wake up. the fact that they are there, but wont do what we want them to do is soooooo frustrating!! i try not to think about it, but it makes me so mad at my dumb body that sometimes i cant help but get pissed! so i am still stimming...this is the longest i ever stimmed, but hopefully slow and steady wins the race right? i go for my next SnS on tueday, and maybe i'll be ready to trigger! friday is my wedding anniversary, and i have a feeling it might fall on the days between ER and ET. i'm trying not to get ahead of myself because anything can happen in a week for me, but its hard to make plans when i have no idea what will be going on!
well thats my book for the day haha
to anyone i missed i am sorry!

***much love always***

Amanda W – Welcome! I’m excited to cheer you on for your second round of IVF. Lots of baby dust to you! Sounds like you have a great Dr and protocol!

Miyaya – I totally hear you! We have to sacrifice so much! Ugh. Sending you lots of support and hopefully lots of energy!

Teresa – that’s hysterical. I couldn’t agree with you more. I am so afraid of centipedes. When DH and I were looking at houses 3 years ago, we went to look at a house and there were seriously 2 giant centipedes in the basement. We both liked the house, but I said, absolutely not. Anything that has multiple centipedes that big…means there’s a lot more! No way!

Lou – I’m pulling for you too! This is going to be your cycle! I just know it! Lots of PMA!!! Lou, thanks for asking the question about implantation cramps. I actually was feeling something this morning and wondering…hmmm what the heck is going on down there. Felt like a period cramp, but not as severe…so the answer is YES! I think I have! That’s awesome that your friend is going to give you free acupuncture, but I can see how you want to stick with the old guy after ET. That is just so frustrating about all of the tests and paperwork that you have to fill out. They shouldn’t expire after a year. I mean, really, on average, this process can take 2 years. I’m pulling for you and sorry that you have to go through it.

Renee – congrats on starting lupron! You are almost done with it! Wishing you lots of support and it will be fun to get started with the u/s this week.

Franny – that’s absolutely right. Once we have our baby, it won’t even matter. How was your husband’s colonoscopy? I bet you make one heck of a nurse! Sometimes I like it when DH is under the weather…he’s always doing something, so when I can snuggle with him in bed all day, I just love it! I hope even though he is loopy, you’re enjoying the time together ☺ Seriously, what is up with fed ex. I had a similar experience my first time with Baby in a Box. Had to drive on down to FedEx 30 minutes away on a Saturday because of something. It’s always when it’s something important. I always get my shoes on time, which, don’t get me wrong, are important, but not time sensitive! Glad you’re keeping such a positive attitude and relaxing! Congrats on the great numbers! This is going to be your time, Franny! I am so excited to be part of it with you and cheer you on!

Karin! My 2WW buddy. How are you doing? That’s hysterical. I love the stories and your best friend sounds like a great support group. Are you going to POAS?

Sonya – YEAH! What a wonderful beta…don’t you worry, you won’t be lonely for long! I’m going to come over and join you soon. When do you think I could POAS? I had my IUI on July 7 and 8th.

Sunshine and stars – you came to the right place! Karin and I are on our 2WW as well. When is your beta?

Tammy – that’s so great that your husband has such a passion for working with children. Sounds like a fantastic husband and a great father! My beta is on July 20th. I’m thinking I am going to POAS. Sonya has inspired me. I am going on a camping trip the weekend before, so I’m thinking Monday the 19th, just one day earlier. Not sure I want to try and POAS in the forest. Although, it would be a funny sight. I love the picture you added! What a beautiful family!

Annpage – welcome! Can’t wait to see your beta. Are you going to POAS?

Ryann – So glad your surgery went well. I’m sure DH is taking great care of you!

Chili – just keep those positive thoughts flowing. I am doing the follies dance for you, okay! My acupuncturist really encourages me to do visual work. Just keep picturing those follies growing. I’m really rooting for you! Can’t wait for the update tomorrow.

AFM: I had a girls weekend! That’s why I have been MIA! We went up to my friends cabin with 2 girls and my sister, so 4 total. Right when we get there, my friend Liz has a present from her mom. She opens it and it’s a package of Huggies diapers. I look at her and say, YOU’RE PREGNANT! Congrats. She’s 10 weeks along. I’m super excited for her. Next morning, she gets up and is freaking out because she is bleeding! I felt horrible for her. We drove back home and brought her to the hospital where her husband met us. Good news, everything is okay. She’s a rare case of something hemorrhaging. Not exactly sure, but just super relieved that everything is okay. Since it was going to be girls weekend, we continued back home and went to the new Toby Keith bar! I of course, ordered a water and bought some drinks for my sister and friend. Bartender said, are you going to drink at all tonight? I wanted to say, actually, I’m pregnant, so no I won’t be. But, I thought that might be taking it a bit to far! I’m feeling so positive about this. I just continue to visualize those little embies snuggling in! So, when do we all think I can POAS?

Sorry for anyone I missed! Lots of baby dust!

Hi All,
Thanks soo much!!! I can feel all your love and positive thoughts coming right through the screen. I was so disappointed after I spoke to that nurse. I feel so much better after reading all of your replies. My DH has been trying to keep me positive all day too. He's wonderful and I'm so lucky to have him in my life. I've been keeping busy all day. Baked banana bread with 85 degree heat outside, trimmed the trees, watered the plants and fertilized too. Added housework into the mix just for good measure. The dog keeps looking at me like I'm nuts, in between his naps. My ER is in downtown Chicago and we're in the far Southwest burbs so we have to leave early to avoid any new road closures and the very usual traffic jams. There are only 2 seasons in Chicago...Winter and construction. Can't eat past midnight and the ER is at 12:30 or so. I'm sure I'll be hungry, anxious and crabby by the time it's done.

Tammy S- Thanks! Hugs to you too!!!

Moore- Thanks for the list. It's wonderful to see everyone's progress.

Ryann-Thanks for the well wishes. Loved your story. Some people are just clueless or maybe they just forget what it's like to have children around you. I know people that complain everytime they get pregnant, especially later in life. I always tell them that that baby is a gift from God and I wish I had their problem.

Franny- Congrats on your 4 follies!!! Obviously your PMA is working for you. Stay cool! I heard the heat's really bad out east. I had a HUGE hot flash and a few dizzy spells when I started my stims. Thanks for your well wishes to me. You can't imagine how much it helps. Oh, my dog is 13 years old, and American Eskimo, 10 lbs of body and 10 lbs of fur which is usually floating around my floor as fur balls. He's our baby. We got him from the shelter when he was 2. He loves kids too. Sometimes a little too much... wants to hump them. I just give him a look and he stops. He just doesn't know what to do with another being that is around his size.

Karin- Thanks for the reassuring info. The nurse's tone really upset me. It was completely different than what I heard at the office and it was a bit of a shock. You've given me alot of hope to bring along tomorrow.

Wishing you all Hugs, Success, and Lots of Baby Dust,
Chili :)
