ivfpredict.com ?? have you seen this?

Post by leorira11 »

Have y'all seen this website/app? http://ivfpredict.com --- you put in your details (age, # of attempts, protocol, etc) and it 'predicts' your odds of live birth on your next IVF cycle.....

With my age (24), number of attempts (5 unsuccessful - ie, no live births), our fertility issue (male factor), protocol (ICSI and stims) ----- I get a 21% chance of live birth on my next IVF cycle. That seems *low*.... much lower than the 1/3 per embryo transferred that my doctor told me.

The two main things I see missing from this little quiz are (1) how many embryos transferred and (2) quality of embryos/ 3 vs 5 day transfer. ETA: I emailed the professor who created this - and he said that it was based on UK data, meaning transferred 2 embryos for women under 40 and almost all day 2 or 3 transfers. He said that the survey takes into account all the previous attempts - which is what lowers my odds so much.

21%? Really? And I thought I had fantastic odds because we are so young and dealing with male factor..... are these really "good" odds?

Anyone else have input?

Well I tried it out ... With my age (25), number of attempts (3 unsuccessful - ie pregnancy but no live births), our fertility issue (male factor), protocol (ICSI and stims) ----- I get a 23.7% chance of live birth on my next IVF cycle. Interesting none the less but I dont trust the system. You and I will both get positives the next go round...and positives that end with a baby in our arms (Im sick of positives that dont end up how they should).

It's based on European (UK) success rates. In Europe, government-based insurance plans cover most IVF cycles, so the emphasis is on low cost and safety, rather than success rates. The success rates are therefore lower than in most of the US.

Perhaps American patients should multiply the probability by 1.5 or so.
Avoid IVF and surrogacy in Ukraine. Ukrainian centers pay shills to post here under numerous sock accounts pretending to be patients in Ukraine. Centers using such deceptive advertising cannot be trusted and should be avoided.

I wouldn't put too much into this. Clinics are all different and even if doing the same protocols they might change them up. No one cycle is like another and every patient is different.

Yea- Im definitely not too concerned with the estimation. Since percentages usually don't go in my favor anyway I dont even care to know the estimation. If theres a chance that a certain side effect happens to a small number of people...thats usually where I end up. They say only 1 in 10 couples is infertile, 50% success rates with IVF each time, etc etc never put too much into statistics.

Mine came out 9.8%, but whatever. It doesnt even take into account that I have been pregnant 3x's in the last 7 months. My docs odds are 20%...he knows me better than some stupid test that doesnt take "everything about me personally" into account.

No worries Leora.

I did this based on my last cycle (succesful) and it gave me a 22% chance and I am in the UK and I had a son, so either we really beat the odds or its rubish! Apparently now we have a 28% chance of another cycle working.

The thing is in the UK for the last few years women under 35 with blasts can only transfer 1 so surely that would change his set up anyway!

Oh bloody rubbish! ;) It gave me a 22.7% chance of having a baby in this current cycle and guess what? I am pregnant! So these odds are really crappy odds... don't put any ANY faith in this.

Ok, I just took the test and it gave me a 22.1% chance for my next IVF. I agree with everyone else, I wouldn't put to much trust in this survey!

I'm sure that predictions are based on statistics, but we all know statistics can lie! When I first started IVF my doctor told me I had about a 70% chance, because I was only 23 at the time and we had male factor infertiltiy. 6 cycles later we just had our miracle baby. Interesting site, just don't let it mess with your mind too much. :)
After 7 attempts (2 negatives/3 miscarriages), we have TWO miracle boys!! If you would like to hear our story, please visit http://www.ivfsuccessstories.info. Never give up, it can happen for you!!

I heard on the radio today that there is an app you can use on your phone that will predict your ivf success. come on this stuff is just going to make people worry. There are way too many variables to accurately predict who it will work for and who it won't.

I tried and it gave me 14.5% when I said we have been tried for 9 years and 11.3% when I said we have tried for 5 years. How strange the results are? I thought the longer you tried the less chance you would get.
