Blaqdymun-- I say transfer 3 Embies... Here is why.
IVF # 1- 2 transferred-- BFN
FET # 1- 3 transferred-- Chemical
IVF # 3- Going to transfer 3 again, maybe beg for 4!!! LOL

I don't think that transferring 3 is a bad idea, and neither did RE. Two will most likely only be a singleton, but 3 gives you a greater chance for twins!!

WishingandHoping-- WELCOME!!!! You will love this forum, and we have a great group of girls here.

Back later for personals, wanted to answer blaqdymun's poll! :)
IVF 1 & 3 BFN

Hey JenMink55,

I was checking the forum all day for a "poll" response and I appreciate you taking the time. I was "google'n" around & it seems like even w/ three there were so many BFN's ...or Chemicals. i havent seen not one instance of a triplet w/ xfer'ing just 3...that was amazing to me. Again...thanks!

Nice! I'm excited for you. I started BCP yesterday as well...but my retrieval is scheduled for the for the 1st/2nd week or so in April. Baby Dust to you :D

BTW:I just learned what a chemical is, that must be hard to digest :(

PERSONAL POLL:
I am interested in seeing the responses I will receive so here goes:

I know I want at least ONE baby but TWO would definitely be the way to go for us. I am torn between transferring 2 or 3 embryos! I am afraid if I do 3 I may have triplets which I believe will be a bit much for me to handle  . However, I wanted to try for twins and was thinking that 3 would give me the best chances @ possible twins & of course discussing with DH, but...

What Say Ye... 2 or 3?
Blaqdymun ~ We transferred 3 and ended up with one beautiful baby boy. 3 is the way to go.

Our history on transfers:
1st IVF- Transferred 2, had my beautiful daughter
2nd IVF- Tansferred 2 and BFN
1st FET- was willing to transfer 3, only 2 made the thaw, chemical.
I know some people are afraid to do 3 because of course you run the risk of high order multiples, but I think it is rare that all 3 take. I say go with 3, as long as you are ok with twins.

I would also transfer 3. My clinic said its a very small percentage that you will have triplets, and it does give you a good shot at twins. We are doing a donor cycle so my clinic said that they only transfer 2 b/c the quality is supposed to be so much better. I really would like to do 3, it can be reconsidered by the RE if the patient has "an extenuating circumstance". I think that if i only end up with 3 embryos that I will beg to all them all transferred b/c the chance of freezing 1 and it making it through the thawing process is very risky. GO FOR 3!

Blaqdymun - My 2 cents I say 3!!! If you are okay with twins then I would go for it. Also, remember that there is always a greater plan at work and your baby/babies are already waiting to come to you. So follow your heart and go get your baby/babies!

Hey Ladies,

Dallas, Lee, Michelle, JenMink55 & Nicksgam... You guys ROCK!!!

Thanks for your honest opinions & reasons behind them...I thank you so much!

You know, in life sometime we go thru things and because of embarrassment or possible judgement, we try to do it all and/or handle it all own our own. Often times, we screw things up out of sheer ignorance! This is too big of a commitment, not to mention life altering decision to just be "winging it" or relying on docs to tell you everything, truth is...they don't go thru all of the emotions us women/partners do.

When I decided to join this forum it was because I yearned for some "user reviews"; who better to help me sort thru some things & ask for help from? I appreciate it more than I can express. After reading & sharing some of these experiences/possibilities with DH, we have agreed on (3) Embryos :D

On another note:

I was reading in another thread/forum, that its a good thing to start taking pre-natal vitamins now! It will help build up your body for the baby, especially folic acid. Anyone heard anything about this?

Blaqdymun - My RE started me on prenatals and foligard (folic acid) when I had my consult in January. It's supposed to help prepare my body to carry my little sweet pea once I'm preggers. I have also been doing acupuncture which is supposed to help with IVF also. Although there is some argument about how much it actually helps it is still a great way to relax and I have been feeling better overall which hopefully means that I will be at my best by the time my BFP comes this spring.

Definitely start pre-natal vitamins my RE recommends at least 400mg of folic acid. I have been on CitraNatal 90 DHA forever; I took them while pregnant with my son and while nursing him, just stopped nursing this week. Now TTC, I guess they are now just a part of my daily routine :)

Blaqdymun-- Def start the prenatals now! Plus, you get the benefits of your hair growing  I have been taking prenatals since my FET in November, I never stopped taking them after my chemical. It's a good daily vitamin anyway.

AFM--- another change in protocol UGH!!! LOL

DH and I were just not feeling the 5 day PGD with a subsuquent FET in May. We really REALLY wanted to do a Fresh cycle in April and that is what we had our hearts set on. So today I emailed the RE and told him we were back to PGD day 3 with a fresh transfer. I am SO EXCITED!!! So ER is on or about April 9th, with transfer around April 14th. We will know on day 5 which embryos are genetically normal and those are the one's we are going to transfer. We are hoping we have at least 3 genetically normal embies to transfer because we really want twins, but anything we are blessed with we will be over the moon for! This is IVF #3 and I am really going to keep the PMA that 3 is a charm. On another forum I belong too the girls are all buying Orange underwear and wearing Orange nail polish on their toes in the days leading up to transfer. Apparently Orange is the fertility color, didn't know this! This weekend I am on a mission to find some. I think we should start a movement on this forum to all get Orange undies! LOL

Hope you have a great weekend everybody!! Things are def going to start picking up on this board in the next few weeks. So glad I have you all to cycle with !

Hi Ladies

Nickgram Good thing AF finally showed up. Last thing we need is AF acting up on us on top of everything else we stress about. Now you on your way :)

Wishingandhoping Welcome to the group. You'll find loads of support here.

Blaqdymun I would say 3. Thats whats i am also doing. I would like to increase my chances of a BFP and i also read that the chances of all 3 taking are low. So hopefully you'll be blessed with twins or a singleton, which would be great :D . About the folic acid & prenatal vitamins. I'd say definately you should be taking them. My re told me to start Folic acid together with Vitamin B Complex, from the time i confirmed my cycle. I am also taking other nutrients that i've read help with egg quality, womb lining, implatation and fetal development.

Jenmink55 That good news!!! How exciting. This is also my third try and hoping against hope that this is it. If orange is a fertility colour..... I am going orange in APRIL  .

AFM Just counting down the days and trying to take my BCP on time, taking my nutritional supplements, trying to stick to my good foods list, and hardest of all..... the transition from high impact exercise to yoga.

Looking at my ticker and there's just over 2 weeks left before i start my injections. I am excited and nervous.

We are on our way!!! Baby dust to all

:) Nickgram: I'm so happy AF decided to pay a visit, although it needs to be short & sweet!...This is about the only time we want to see her for a good while, Lol!

:P Jenmink:
I have some orange Nail Polish that I will definitely start sporting come April 1st & some Pumpkin colored undies from Halloween..."Don't Ask" I believe that's a great way to show support! I mean other associations have their colors right...why not OURS? and I am starting my prenatal vitamins...I don't know why I didn't think of it sooner but yeah, I used to take them before even trying to get pregnant just for its benefits but stopped. I will be going to my local pharmacy to snag some B Complex as well!

Personal Note
: I don't know about any "Baby Making Diets"; however, I do eat lots of veggies and protein. I guess, I have to do some more homework. I am trying not to over stress about things tho...when I got pregnant with my son (naturally) I was young & wasn't even planning a pregnancy...I believe that a huge part of this process has nothing to do with what we do,did or didn't do....I believe there is a higher power in control of it all and our ultimate jobs are to JUST BELIEVE!!!
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________
Afternoon Update:

I went out to pick up items for my sis-in-laws upcoming baby shower & stopped at the pharmacy & picked up my folic acid.
I have B-complex & Pre-natal vitamins which came in my MEDs KIT (Duh). I do remember the med asst telling me that the PN vitamins was the one thing I could start taking out of the kit when it arrives. I just remembered today that conv & that it was in fact included in the kit

So, I guess better a lil late than never, huh?

HEY LADIES

 Since we were talking about vitamins & IVF prep tips, I found something that may answer a few questions and/or offer additional advice:

IVF Preparation
- A 7-10 day liver detox program will help to clear out your system and boost the liver’s detoxifying capacity so that it is able to cope with the drugs that you will have to take during the treatment. Detox 3-4 weeks before beginning an IVF cycle.
- Do not smoke and avoid smoky atmospheres: smoking damages the lining of the uterus
- Try to avoid strenuous exercise, such as aerobics, or running. Your body needs rest as your hormonal system shuts down to
prepare for IVF. Try gentle forms of exercise instead, such as walking or yoga.
- Avoid chocolate, sugary and processed foods, salty snacks, coffee, tea, cola and other carbonated drinks, and alcohol. These all counteract the beneficial effects of vital nutrients, and some have a diuretic effect.
- Drink at least 2 liters of water a day. Water is vitally important for every cell in the body and to ensure the drugs you are
taking during IVF go where they need to go in the body.
- Eat about 60grams (2 oz) of protein a day. Insufficient protein in the diet can result in a reduced number of eggs.

Taking Supplements
Start taking your nutritional supplements at least 3 to 4 months before your IVF treatment commences.
- Vitamin B complex: will help your body cope with the stress of invasive procedures
- Vitamin C: 500 mg a day will help collagen production and is vital for wound healing following egg retrieval. There is some
evidence to suggest that it may help to prevent miscarriage Reduce Vitamin C intake to 250mg before transfer
- Vitamin E: enhances healing, improve fertilization rates ( choose the natural version, known as d-alpha-tocopherol)
- Zinc: promotes cell formation and wound healing after surgery and is vital for hormone production and implantation, plays a vital role in cell division
- Selenium: improve fertilization rates, prevents chromosome breakage
- Magnesium: improve fertilization rates
- Folic Acid: prevents spina bifida, produce DNA and RNA, ( you also need to take B12)
- CoQ10: improve blood flow, enrich endometrium, may improve fertilization rates
- Essential Fatty Acids: (we strongly recommend to use the brand Nordic Naturals), improve blood viscosity, mood support,
DHA: form body tissue, essential for brain development in a fetus
- Bromalein (pineapple & pineapple core) to help with implantation. WOO HOO :D

Other Tips
- Arnica: this homeopathic remedy may help prevent damage to internal tissue. Take the remedy 4 times daily (6c potency)
from day before retrieval until after the transfer of embryos into the uterus.
- Use a hot water bottle to keep the abdomen warm and assist healing
- Rest as much as you can in preparation for placing of the embryos in the uterus. Rest will aid in recovery and healing.
- Practice deep breathing and relaxation techniques to encourage good blood flow and energy around the body.
- After the transfer, rest for a minimum of three days. Activity diverts blood to your extremities and vital organs, while lying down allows blood to flow to the endometrium.

During the two week wait, you must avoid:
Caffeine, tobacco, alcohol, drugs
Heavy lifting
Strenuous exercise, including housework
Bouncing activities, such as horseback riding
Sun bathing, sauna, hot tubs, Jacuzzis, hot baths
Swimming
Sexual intercourse

Hope this is helpful :!:

Hi Girls!!
Still waiting for AF here !!! Never thought I would be wishing for it to come! Something about this seems backwards! I love the orange underwear idea! One of my coworkers bought me an orange charm for my charm bracelet. I need some advice from you girls who are more experienced in the IVF department. My RE keeps saying the he would recommend transfering only 1 5day blast but he would transfer two if i really want him to. (But absolutely not more than two). I think he is being very conservative because our issues are MF but i really am thinking i should go with two. My husband is concerned and thinks we should go with one for the first IVF. I havent even heard of anyone only transferring one! Let me know what you girls think!!!
