Hey Deidra~ BH contractions can happen throughout the entire pregnancy really, but as you move further along you start to feel them more. Yes some people don't experience many at all until right before labor begins. Mostly, here is how they feel: If you flex your arm to make your bicep show, it causes the muscle to contract, or tighten...so when you have a contraction, it will tighten in your tummy, and can also tighten into your back when they are BH. I have them all the time, about 4 an hour or so, sometimes more. They shouldn't hurt. If you are having any pain at all and feel a tightening, you should call your doctor. But, if they are there and just feel firm to the touch on your belly, and don't hurt, it's totally normal to have them at this stage.

Remember too, that all of your joints are much more loose than normal and sometimes you can have back and hip pain that is even different than sciatica pain. When in doubt, if you are worried, it hurts or something just doesn't seem right, don't wait to have it checked out. It's better to be safe than sorry. Hang in there.
