Stephanie: Sorry that you are so miserable....no apologies for whining, that is what we are all here for! Take extra care of yourself, nap when you can. Check with doctor about what you can take for heartburn. I have had a few episodes of it already, I find if I sleep sorta sitting up a bit it helps....not sure if you can get "comfy" that way. And yes, get those lumps checked out. Hang in there!!

waitingkay - Congrats on seeing a healthy little heartbeat. My clinic also stops at 8 weeks. i will still have PIO left after that and think I will continue till that is gone. I only take the PIO every other day so that won't be a big deal. I will defiantly be giving up the stupid endometrium suppositories at 8 weeks and also will be relieved to stop taking dex. Tired of them both.

Kay: Regarding stopping meds, I was advised it was ok to stop last week by my RE and I was just 5 weeks. He said because my levels were sky high it wasn't necessary. I am a chicken however, and have been weaning myself off the meds instead of quiting cold turkey. Do we sound like addicts or what? I did get reassurance from another person who said she was also told it was ok to stop early. Perhaps it depends on your situation and your levels. (I also posted to Ghost about it if you want to see the thread on the IVF side).

Hi all,

Sonya, you two look amazing!!! About being a freak, well this RE has quite a history with me. Last ET he was trying to tell me to shut me eyes during the procedure (uneasy to do when you have your legs up in the air and everybody else seems to have their eyes WIDE open), then he actually told me not so very PC to stop being such a control freak!!! Prior to the ET we had to discuss things with the embryologists only because our experience with this RE has proven not very informative!
Well during our first U/S, done late on week 6 and 5 days - which is hard for a freak to wait - he absolutely REFUSED to tell us the rate!!! When I asked for it politely again, reminding also this was our last appointment with him, he again said that he has seen it with his own eyes and that the rate was fine. How's that for a doctor like answer?!

To_have_fun - I agree with you about the urge to quit the endometrium, it makes me feel anything BUT ladylike...

Margi - Indeed, my levels too were sky high and right from my first beta, Progesterone was above 127! But it's either me being a chicken or a control freak...maybe I'll ask for a second opinion, cause I read about so many who quit much later than the beginning of week 9.

Thank you all so much!!!
Blessings,
K

Margi - one more sleep night!

Sonya - could you possibly look more radiant? Love the picture you are a gorgeous preggers!

Lou My OB said not to get my heart rate over 140, did yours say anything? As for CVS, false positives are so common in your nuchal/AFP that I would recommend not risking the higher risk of miscarriage of CVS and waiting for your quad and level II and then do an amnio if you need to. The risk is much less. But if you do need the peace of mind right away then a CVS might be better.

afm - I'm officially miserable... I can't sleep. I can't get comfortable. I have BRUTAL heartburn that never goes away. It had me up all night last night. I ended up throwing up bile (and crying with my head in the toilet) at 5 this morning. At least I was able to lay down and get a couple hours of sleep after that. And I recently found some lumps in my armpits that I'm desperate to get looked at. I know it's most likely breast tissue, but it's still worrisome. SIGH I hate being a whiner, but this is the hardest thing I think I've ever physically been through... And I know how blessed I am to be where I am. It's just getting really tough.

Hope all of you wonderful ladies are doing well!
I had horrible heartburn as well. My OB approved me to take 10mg Pepcid every 12 hours which has been very effective. Give your OB nurse a call or check your approved meds list - heartburn is terrible.

Rio -- I've heard the "140 rule" before but there's no science behind it. The main thing is not to overdo it. You especially don't want to overheat and raise your core body temperature up too much. Since my heart rate is much higher pregnant, I reach 140 without much effort and I'm certainly not overheating. So I don't think that number applies to me. I find I start to get "winded" around 170 right now so I'm trying to keep my heart rate under that. As for the CVS/Amnio issue... I'm not sure what I'm going to do. My RE isn't certified to do NT's but he sorta looked anyway and said he didn't see anything "abnormal". So I'm praying it's all a non-issue after the scan next week. If for some reason results aren't normal, I don't know how the heck I could wait a month or more for a level II then an amnio. My level II is scheduled for 18 weeks. DH has strong feelings that he would want to end a pregnancy if something was seriously wrong. I told him I agreed but then asked him about Down's and he said "to me, that's seriously wrong". We disagree there. People can live full lives with Down's. I hope we don't have to come to a decision like that. Makes me sad to think about it.

Lou,
ON the exercise note, I just wanted to say that my OB told me the 140 heartbeat rule too. I laughed in her face. At the time I was swimming with a masters class doing a vigorous hour in the pool twice a week, and running three times a day. I kept running until 25 weeks with my DS with lots of pee breaks and swam until the end (but for six weeks with sciatica - ouch!). I am pretty sure the whole time in the pool was well above 140. I stopped doing turns at the wall so as not to cramp the baby, but otherwise, I even did butterfly one day and did intervals nearly every practice.

You're right that the 140 heartbeat rule is an unproven one. But if I'm not mistaken, the only KNOWN risk of exercising through pregnancy is having a bigger newborn. I can find the study if anyone is interested... Lostgirl

Sonya - I am taking Zantac 75 twice a day. I was thinking about increasing to the 150 strength. How strong is what you're using? Do you take it once or twice a day? LOVE the pic of you and DH, you two are a beautiful couple!

Margi - Thanks hon! Unfortunately, I have a hard time sitting upright or even reclined for any period of time. I'm carrying so high that it hurts after awhile. My boobs lay on my bump these boys are so high!

Waiting - I, also, continued my "inserts" for a couple weeks after the RE's office said I was safe to stop. I went from 3x a day to 2x/day to once/day to once every other day in three day intervals to ween myself off. Margi's right, we become junkies!

Bunny - Thanks! I'm going to meet my new OB (the old one okayed Prilosec which I found out from my pharmacist was a Class C med!!!) and see what her tried and true recommendations are. The Zantac seems ok, I think I need to increase to the maximum strength. We'll see....

Anxious for tomorrow's first appt with my new OB! I also have my second glucose test (YUM! ) and we get to see the boys. I'm hoping Brady (who's presenting) has moved from his breech position, but I'm almost positive from his movement he's still feet down. Stubborn like his daddy already!

Hi baby.... I take zantac once at night at the 150 dose - I find 75 does nothing for me..... I'm freaked out because I only have 1 75 mg left and two more nights before we leave. Ugh. My son's GF has some Maalox but I'm not sure it's going to do anything to help. Tried to find something in the Mexican pharmacies but they only have a couple strange looking brands.

Thanks for the kind words regarding my photo - the purple "barney' dress does make me look big. LOL

Hope the second test goes well and you like your new OB - makes all the difference in the world...

hi all... wow, so much to catch up on.. not sure where to start! well sonya and lou, your pictures both look great! even though you're at different ends of the spectrum.. lou, i'm glad to hear you've looked into the heart rate thing, as i was also told not above 140 (and this by an obgyn who's not particularly cautious too!).. so i guess things can be individua and i'm glad you still have the energy to balance that into your life right now (take it while you can!!! things are about to change :))

rio.. so glad you had a great birthday, you're a doll and definately deserve it.

chris/to have fun- u/s in 3 days!!! i'm doing the countdown with you

waiting k.. yes, i know the science behind the progesterone supplements, and the great majority of us don't need them after 6 wks.. but most of us stay on them longer just to prevent worry about 1 more thing.. if it eases your mind- stay on them.. thats what i did before

leora, i'm so glad you and twinnies are ok!! :)

babyblu.. sorry you're so sick, but 'complain' as much as you want.. it must be hard carrying twins and venting how you feel will never make you sound ungrateful in my books !
well.. iguess that's all the personals i can properly do as i can't scroll back any further to jog my memory!!

afm.. i'm ok, can't wait to see my obgyn tomorrow and hear the heartbeat, i decided not to buy a doppler after hearing the stories and people not being able to hear the h/b at home.. so i've been in major withdrawals, but now it's just 1 more day...
38 yrs. DOR, TTC since '04, recommended DE but didn't listen
3 IVF's & 1 FET: 1 cancellation, 1 m/c @ 12 wks, 1 chemical, 1 miracle boy & miracle 'natural' PG right now while waiting to cycle (WTF?)

Reenie - Your babies are adorable!! Thank you so much for sharing a pic of them! :D

Sonya - You look radiant! I'm so glad you and DH got to spend some time together and vacation.

Margi - I just wanted to say good luck with your u/s tomorrow! I know it will go great and I can't wait to find out how many you've got growing in there. Don't forget too it may be too early to see heartbeats. At my 6wk u/s all we saw was the gestational sacs and yolk sacs. Then when we went back at 6w6d, we could see the h/b. So no worries if you don't see h/b yet.

karen(vancouver) - Hope your OB appointment goes well. Enjoy hearing that beautiful h/b!!

Baby_blu - I'm so sorry you're dealing with such bad heartburn! That sounds terrible! I hope you can get some relief soon.

lou - Good lord, I've never even seen a size 2/4 in my life LOL. I sailed right past those sizes when I was younger and went straight on to 8's and 10's. Once this little girl arrives though, I'll work on getting back into shape.

kay - Yeah, your doctor would drive me bonkers!! WOW!! I stopped the endometrin at 10 weeks. I did have spotting the week after I stopped but then all was well.

AFM, not much new to report, which is nice. Here's my bump from this past Thursday @ 24 weeks.

Amanda! Looking good. :) Glad to hear things are uneventful for you, and I hope you are enjoying feeling the little one moving around. It's no wonder all you ladies are talking about heartburn...look how high up you seem to be carrying!! I've never carried high, always low riders, pushing on my bladder and making my hips out of place early on. Maybe that is why I have so many contractions so early. :)

Sonya, you do look like your glowing! Beautiful! I'm glad you've been able to enjoy your trip to Mexico. How fun! I wish I could join you!! :)
