Summer Board 2011

Post by Sunshine1576 »

I know it's barely March, but I couldn't resist...For all who are planning on cycling in June, July or August this thread is for you!

I have laproscopic surgery this Friday, March 4th, and right now in the middle of a new career change. Looking for something with less stress and a little more flexibility (for all those upcoming appointments) who knows where to find that, but God is in control! Last night I dreamt that I started a business opportunity with AVON. Who knows, but please elaborate with me if you have any good home-based business ideas.

Cheers to all the summer IVF sistas!

I will be going through IVF #1 this summer.Hopefully I can start the meds with my May cycle. I am a teacher and am trying to push off the bulk of things until I'm done with the school year. I am 29, will be the BIG 30 in June. My husband is 34 and will be 35 in June as well. So far we have gone for our blood work and he has gone for his analysis. I have a genetic premutated gene called Fragile X which can cause early menopause, low ovarian reserve, and lastly a child with MR. As a result, we have never tried to conceive on our own. We need to also do PGD along with the IVF. So hopefully I will produce a good amount of eggs w/o the premutated gene and of course they fertilize :) We are taking it step by step. With my next cycle (April) I will be calling to make an app for my sonogram???? and we will be taught how to use the needles.

Sorry Sunshine, I have no business ideas for you, but if I hear or think of any I will keep you in mind :) I hope your surgery went well.

I'm not sure if we are going to be trying again in Summer, but I think it is a possbility. We had our first little miracle last March, he just turned 1!!! We had always planned on trying for number 2 this summer, but the finances will have to work out first!

Madame- I am a teacher also. I can relate to doing everything in the Summer. We went through numerous cycles, and had to wait months in between just to be able to do them in the summer! I have an IVF blog if ya'll would like to check it out. The link is in the signature. Good luck to ya'll!
After 7 attempts (2 negatives/3 miscarriages), we have TWO miracle boys!! If you would like to hear our story, please visit http://www.ivfsuccessstories.info. Never give up, it can happen for you!!

Hi There! My husband and I plan to do an egg donor cycle at SDFC this summer. First ever IVF cycle. The only snag right now is finding a Chinese donor.
We are really anxious to get this moving. But not having a donor is making me anxious.
We plan to get our testing done in the next few weeks and I will likely do my mock cycle next month.
Glad to have found a place to get support/share ideas/etc.

Welcome Babybear, Brit1612, Madame X... and Summer will be here before we know it which is perfect for all the teachers on here. Let me tell you, my lab visits were so crazy when I was working full-time...Even after working there 2 years with him, I had a boss that wasn't cooperative and honestly he told me he thought my appointments were optional! It was stressful trying to make my appointments over my lunch hour. Whenever the clinic was running behind, I would call him from the clinic to tell him, but he said it was effecting the branch coverage and it wasn't fair to all the others, and I would get upset. I even tried to get my clinic to open earlier but there was no flexibility. At one point, I asked if I could step down to part-time, but he said there wasn't a spot for part-time....No longer working there now and I've focussed completely on finding something part-time. Last Friday I had an interview and think I might of found a possibility. I'm praying for the right decision. Husband thinks I should just do volunteer work to stay active, but I'm so used to helping him out with the bills and such at the same time.

Everyone, I really appreciate all the home-based business suggestions. Babybear, I like the jewerly business idea and live right across from a K-12 school, so it might work especially if I could donate some of the proceeds to a local charity. I LOVE community work, and know there is a need for that around here. For one event, called and got permission from my church to set up a trunk to collect canned goods for The Rescue Mission (homeless) and it was right around Thanksgiving, together we raised over 300 items. The possibilities are endless! (Sorry this is so long, but I really love blogging and writing journals! :D )

It looks like I'm on the right blog. I am also a teacher. I had the crazy notion of doing my first IVF during my first year of teaching. I over stimulated and ended up on bed rest and in the hospital, but received a beautiful daughter out of it, who was born at 26 weeks. Now we have finally put those episodes behind us and are ready for the FET, but I am worried. I have to travel from Georgia to Florida (moved from Florida since my IVF). I am wondering are my blasts still there, will they thaw, and etc. Any one gone through FET? What can I expect? :?:

Cinnymon- Glad to see another teacher! Wow, sounds like you had a wild experience. It took us 6 cycles to get our first miracle. He just turned one! Have you thought about transferring your embryos to your new clinic? We recieved donor embryos and had to transfer them from North Carolina to Texas. It cost about $150 at the time, but was a lot less expensive than traveling.

Thank you for the suggestion. I didn't even think that was an option. I will definitely check into it. Congrats on your miracle.

Thanks Cinny- he is such a blessing. I was really getting to the point of giving up on the dream of starting a family with my husband. I guess God had his own plan for us.

Hope it's okay that I am joining you all. I am hoping to do my 2nd IVF late summer, possible later than that Sept/Oct depending. I just had a pelvic MRI done for two fibroids that I have. My RE originally didn't think that they would be a concern because they were outside my uterus, but after one ectopic, 4 failed IUI's and one failed IVF he wants to remove them.

I am waiting for my RE to get the results of the MRI then I will schedule a Myomectomy with my OBGYN to remove the fibroids. I am hoping to have the surgery within the next two months, then I have to wait 3 to 4 months to recover ugh.
It feels like forever and I am not getting any younger ;)

Good luck to all you ladies {{HUGS}}

Hi ladies!!

Just wanted to say hi and welcome to all who joined. After reading your stories I must say all of you are very strong. I hope I have it in me as well. I also wanted to share an update on what is going on with me. I went to my IVF orientation yesterday and for a mock trial and an internal check. I also found out that the PDG lab has completed their testing on all of my family's bloodwork. They were able to find a marker to test my embies. Looks like I will be starting the meds (Lupron) in about 5 weeks, 21 days after this coming period. So that should put me around the 3rd week of May. So I decided that if I have to take a few days off at the very end of the school year it would be okay.

I know some of you have been though this already, any advice would be great :)
