Faithful I am thinking of changing clinics. Did you do your ivf in SA? If you dont mind my asking, which clinic did you use and would you recommend them?

Wishingandhoping,
I know how you feel about the meds...We so need fertility medical insurance. They stresses me out too, but have to whatever it takes! In Feb., I had to throw out 450IU follistim that was opened for 3 shots last October, but this time was fortunate that we triggered last Sunday (instead on Monday) and didn't have to open a brand new 300IU vial of Follistim for only one 75IU shot. That's like $500 in savings. But anyway looking at your numbers 15 to 23 they sound REALLY good and if follicles grow at a rate of 1mm a day you would definately be ready by Thursday but I'm glad they are monitoring you everyday to help plan everything just right! :D

Good morning ladies! Does anyone know if progesterone in sesame oil can be used still even if it has been open for more than 30 days? The packaging just says use by expiration date printed on the bottle. I've asked 2 different nurses at my dr's office if I need to get a new vial or if I can use the one I opened last month - both have not been sure but have said they would just get a new one to be safe.

I had some PIO left from my first cycle. My RE told me that if it was unopened I could use it but if I had withdrawn any out of it, he would rather me get a new bottle.

That is a very good question kbillsy.. I was referring to Follistim earlier b/c the box reads expires in 28 days if opened, but don't know about progesterone. Nurses may not know, but have you already tried texting or contacting your RE?
If RE cannot reassure you, I would order some more to have peace of mind... Sunshine1576

Just spoke with the embryologist....pretty good news!!!

Remember how 9 out of 14 fertilized? Well, 1 more picked up! Out of the 10, 1 is a grade 1 (best) based on fragmentation/# of cells, 6 are grade 2, & the rest are grades 3 & 4. I'm ecstatic, but don't want to get too worked up, as this is an anything can happen at anytime thing. He also told me that our RE has been in touch w/ him & shared w/ him that we were unsuccessful at UConn 4 times (well 1 of those times it was a BFP w/ a chemical) b/c we would always have no more than 4 fertilize & they'd be below average for fragmentation. I'm really happy that there is communication b/w the RE & the embryologist. I'm sure there was at UConn, but we were never made aware of it. So, it just feels good to know that our embabies are being taken care of. Also, at UConn never did I speak w/ an embryologist, so it makes me happy that I can have that level of communication here. So, we are still on for an ET on Wednesday & a nurse will call me at some point today to set up the time. I am thinking of transferring 3...I don't know if they'd go for it.
1. I'm under 35 (I think that's the age that would be the cut-off for 2 versus more than 2...right ladies? I may be wrong.)
2. My failures have been at another clinic.
3. This will be a 5dt, not a 3dt.

What do you ladies think?

Ester- Sounds like great news!!! Congrats on the 5dt- That means those babies are looking great!!! Good luck and cant wait to hear all about the transfer soon! I would fight for transferring 3. I met the same criteria and at first they put up a little fight but finally they gave in. I am only 25 right now (will be 26 in 2 wks), had 3 failed IVFs, and we did the 5dt…but luckily I was stubborn and won out and we transferring 2 blasts and 1 in the pre-blast stage. They argued that the chances of triplets was higher since I was young and have had previous success (chemical and miscarriage), but since I still didn’t have a baby I fought for 3. Good luck. I think it’s a 3-4% chance of triplets…just be prepared.

Sunshine- I know what you mean about throwing out the follistim. Even though I only needed a 900 IU vial my insurance wouldn’t cover it. For some reason they covered 2 of the 600 IU vials instead. So I ended up using just 50 units or so out of the 2nd vial and then tossing it out. What a waste. Yea I saw Margi had such luck in CA that we ended up vacationing there. Hopefully I brought back some of the good vibes to everyone on the board.

Kbillsy- Even though Im sure its probably fine I think once the progesterone has been opened more than 30 days you should go with a new vial. I would call the pharmacy and ask. Even though you only got 2 eggs its great to hear they are both growing…you just need 1 so stay positive and keep your head up. Good luck at the transfer tomorrow. Are you transferring both?

Wishingandhoping- Thanks for the congrats. Just keeping fingers crossed that it keeps doubling. Sounds like you have the perfect # of follies!!! Exciting that the ER is just a few days away now. You will be PUPO in no time!

Easley4- Stay positive. Did you end up getting to go in for a beta today?? Im thinking it was a defective test. All those positives and then a negative just doesn’t make sense. My fingers are crossed for you.

Jenmink- Yea that 667 was my first beta at 10p5dt. I am a nervous nelly and actually started testing Monday when I was feeling depressed. Even though it was early at 6dp5dt and in the middle of the afternoon it was positive, so DH and I were guessing the beta would be a little high but never did we think it would be that high. Im glad you will be joining me on the BFP side very soon!!! I cant wait until Wednesday so you can start celebrating! I have had the similar symptoms- mild AF cramps off and on and low back pain so I think it’s a good sign!!

Anton- Hope DH enjoyed his foot massage- before too long you will be the one getting all the foot massages!

AFM- Waiting anxiously for the office to call with my 2nd beta results. I went early this morning so hopefully they will get them back early this afternoon and call right away. Since the office is an hour and a half away they just faxed the order to a local lab to make things easier. Oh the waiting games we have to play- stresses me out. Fingers and toes are crossed that things continued to double the way they should.

Yeah, DH is pretty much on board w/ transferring 3. I will definitely put up a fight. My SIL & BIL have triplets via IVF. They did 1 cycle back in 2003. They put back 3 (I think it was a 3dt) & both stuck & 1 split. She did have a rough pregnancy b/c she went into PTL around week 25 & delivered at week 28. 1 of them (3 boys) was in the hospital for 9 months, but they are awesome 7 year olds now :-)

I'm praying for a great 2nd beta for you & a happy & healthy 9 months!!!

You had an FET, so you didn't trigger, right? It must be a faulty HPT. Check the expiration date on the package. Stranger things have happened. Can you get an earlier beta?
