Hi everybody

Anton - I am so so so so so sorry to hear your news. It just isn't fair. You are an amazingly strong and positive woman. You so deserve to be a Mum and I'm sure one day you'll be the best mum ever.

Kerri - how's the 2 ww going?

Dallas - wahoo for two! Fantastic news.

Nancy - I'll be thinking of your tomorrow. Good luck :D

Greekcheck - glad you've finished your bedrest and are starting to feel sane again. :) I think whether or not you do bedrest is a combination of advice from your RE and what you are most comfortable with. I'm a rest on the day of ET then pretty much back to normal kind of girl but can absolutely understand that some women feel better taking

Sunshine - my understanding is that increasing the number of embryos implanted doesn't increase your chance of getting pregnant when you are < 40 years old. I'd stick with your RE's advice. The more embies that implant, the riskier the pregnancy is likely to be.

AFM - had scans and bloodtesrt on Thurs and yesterday to check my follies. Unfortunately I haven't got nowhere near as many as I did last time. Am probably only going to end up with 3-4 eggs to retrieve. My RE says tht I shouldn't be disappointed but it's hard not to be. Still, chin up. I'll keep reminding myself that it only takes one. ER is tomorrow morning. Does anybody know if ICSI is used when you don't have many eggs? If so, I'll push for this so that so that I don't lose all the eggs in the fertillisation drop off.

Well folks, that's all for now. Will let you know how I get on tomorrow.

tess: quality, not quantity... it only takes one! as fas as icsi, i thought that was for male problems ( motility, etc) ... good question for your RE ... good luck!

Tess, I am using ICSI because of my low egg count. We went on IVF because of my tubal problem and DH's sperms are in a perfect state (though I wonder how it is possible; he smokes 1package a day). I got 3 matured eggs in my first IVF and got only one embryo resulting from natural fertilisation. Since the second IVF, the lab has been using ISCI and the fertilisation rates stay around 60%.

Anton, I am sorry for your loss. I am speechless. In such a situation, I usually shut myself down for a while, though it has been proved not the best strategy.

Smoon, I am amazed that you manage to have a total bed rest for 2ww. It would be hard for me. But the result of a triplet is very attractive. I will try drinking a lot of water and eating a lot of fruit definitely.

Jayne, I have no idea when start bleeding after stopping progesterone because I always started bleeding 2 or 3 days before beta, while I am still on progesterone.

Blissful, thank you. I hope my little one will make it to blast and to company with his or her sibling who is already waiting in the freezer.

Deftones, congratulations! Look forward to your report on Teusday.

AFM: my 2ww is particularly stressful for in this depressive period. My career has been drifting around for more than two years. Since my work was cut, I have taken on small jobs here and there. Now I am working on 4 jobs at the same time. Take yesterday as an example, I had to revise one writing assignment I am working on and negotiated for another new assignment. At the same time, I had to prepare rehearsal materials for students for the final school year exam. On top of it, I had to prepare for a 9 people BBQ all by myself because my DH had bad headache last night. I can only blame my depression for putting things off and for having all these squeezed in one day.
We had friends come over for BBQ tonight. Among the first thing people asked is how you are, I know it is hard to go through IVF, blablabla…. They have totally no clues how I feel when they have two kids running around just like that. For one or the other reason, we all decided to have kids at late age. One of them even got her first baby at age of 40 and now she is expecting her second baby at age 42. It is really unfair.

Tess69, Thanks for responding to my post! We have our first lab on Tuesday, and dh is coming with me since he has 3 wks off from work. We will be talking to them about our chances with the IUI, especially with the increased dosage of follistim. We haven't started shots for this cycle yet, currently on bcp so we still have time to change up our protocal. I am just concerned the reason we are not getting pregnant might be related to my eggs. Something has to "click" eventually. But it is all about quality not quantity. :D

Bladymum, I am sure everything is fine since your little bean is well cushioned, but I know having a u/s always gives us peace of mind. Looking forward to hearing how everything goes on Wednesday.

Holiday weekend, bring on the bbq cookout!

Thanks Sunshine, I still feel very pregnant...lol. I was a little shaken up Friday and nervous but after I calmed down and came home & cried for a lil' bit. I realized that I wasn't in any pain and no discomfort and if I had felt one tingle, I would have headed straight to the ER. After speaking with my sister (a RN) and the doc, who said the exact same thing she did about juju bean having plenty of cushion for shock absorbancy....I was able to relax with that also.

As y'all know I had my stitch on Friday. RE said I might have some bloody discharge and cramping. I haven't had either until today, Sunday. I still haven't had bloody discharge but I am having quite a bit of cramping this evening. I seem to remember that PIO can cause cramping. Is this accurate? I'm on 2cc of PIO every night and estrogen IM shots twice a week. I looked at my papers from last IVF and I started at 1/2 ccand went to 1cc. This time I started to 1st and went to 2cc. 2cc looks and feels like a lot of PIO.

Any thoughts?

We've had a death in extended family so we'll be traveling to funeral tomorrow. It will make the day pass quickly so FET will be here before I know it.

Hi all

Nancy - sorry to hear about the death in your family. All the very best for your FET tomorrow. :)

Blaqdymun - juju bean - how cute! Glad to hear you're fine after your fall. You're u/s is just around the corner. How exciting.

Sunshine - good luck with your lab tomorrow. I gather from your post that your infertility is unexplained. If so, I understand how frustrating this can be. How ever many embies you decide to implant will be the right decision. :)

Greekchick - I so hope you're preggas this time round. You deserve to be as a reward for putting up with bed rest for 5 days. I struggle with half a day!

Kerri - Thanks for your post re ICSI. I too have to take a deep breath when people with a bunch of kids tell me how hard IVF is. The thought that I may never be a mother consumes my thoughts everybody and it sux! I also left baby making till later and truly regret now. I am the queen of lecturing young folks at work about not waiting to long to start trying to conceive. One of my colleagues that i lectured at the end of last year is now preggas. Yay!

Smoon - awesome! Triplets that's just fantastic.

Anton - how are you doing? Take some time out, soak up some of that lovely Greek spring weather and hope to see you back on board when you're ready.

AFM - ER today. 9 eggs collected but I suspect that only about 3 will be mature. The eggs in my right ovary were very small as i had a dermoid cyst removed a couple of years ago which left it a bit misshapen. Discussed ICSI with the embryologist and my RE. We decided that we would let nature take its course and do the fertilisation as we didn't have any problems with it last time. However, once the embryologiest looked at the sperm collected today, she saw that it was poor quality so it looks like we'll be doing ICSI after all. The embryologist will call me tomorrow to discuss how the embryos are doing.

Good luck today Nancy!

Tess- congratulations on making it through ER. Fingers crossed for expectation exceeding fert report!

AFM- still only minimal pregnancy symptoms that could easily be from the meds. I cannot wait until my u/s Friday to see if everything is progressing as it should. What I would give for a little nausea! :D :D :D

Hi all~

I'm justing getting ready for my ultrasound to see if there is any chance of this pregnancy continuing. The NP made it sound like there was little hope with a HCG level in the 1800's 29dpo but I'm not giving up quite yet. I'm 6w4d today. I would love to see a little heartbeat. Ugg. So much stress.

Btw, I'm really getting sick of the infertility comments.
"It will happen when the time is right"
"It you just stop trying, it will happen".
And my least favorite... "Why aren't you getting pregnant"? How do you respond to that dumb question?

Happy Monday!

Good luck Jayne!

I know what you mean on the infertility comments. I just love it when people say "if you just stop trying it will happen." I just smile and don't tell them I don't have tubes... :-) :-) :-).

They mean well though. Even for those of us who have been there it is hard to find the right words...

Anton- I'm so sorry to hear your sad news, I was really hoping you'd get that BFP.

AFM- Meet with the RE in a couple of hours. It's a miserable day raining and cold. Fitting for the finality of it all. I have my list of questions, wonder if I'll get any answers.
