Need some advice, maybe someone has had this dilema.
It has come time for us to pay our storage fee for our embryo at the fertility clinic. I am torn about whether or not to keep it stored. We only have one embryo left. I have heard that the odds it will make it through the thaw are only 50%. It is my understanding that you have to go through the whole med process and be ready for transfer before its even thawed. Therefore, you may have spent alot of money and time on meds that gets wasted if the embryo doesnt make it.

My hubby thinks we have the perfect family now since we were blessed with boy/girl twins. I wonder if we have a 3rd will that one be "the oddball" because they arent a twin. We are leaning towards not keeping it and if I happen to get pregnant then it was meant to be and we will go with that, but not try to get pregnant on purpose. Keep in mind we used donor eggs.

Any thoughts??

I am in the same boat with one embryo left. My RE offered to do an unmedicated transfer for free because like us he is a man of faith and understood our desire to avoid destroying it but he didn't want to see us put back 4. I would let your RE know you may be interested in an unmedicated cycle and see if he/she will work with you on the transfer. The chances of it working are minimal but I would think if it did work it was certainly meant to be!

Donation is also an option of course...

Dallas - Like bliss said, you could do a "natural" FET where you really just do the FET around the time you'd normally ovulate. Meds would be minimal so you'd really just have the FET cost as long as the embie survived the thaw. NancyB had a single frozen embie when she did her FET and she just delivered her little girl last month. I don't think a 3rd child would feel like an oddball, but if you're feeling like your family is complete, donation or donating it for research are always options.

We also had to face that question in November. We had 3 embryos that were frozen at the Blasocyst stage. They said they were all great quality. We went ahead and paid it. It at least would give you a little more time to think about it, and then you wouldn't have any regrets. I was told the chances of the embryo surviving the thaw just depended on the quality of it when it was frozen. They don't know for sure, but the better it was at the time makes for better chances later. Also, I would recommend an unmedicated cycle as well. The meds are minimal if you have to go that route, just the lupron at the beginning of the cycle, and no matter whether you are unmedicated or not, they do the progesterone after the transfer. It's not nearly as invasive.

We don't know when we will be ready to use them, but we are going to have to figure it out soon...time is not my friend. :) The age is ticking up!

Good luck to you.

My Re says that the embryos have a 75% chance of surviving the thaw. Out of 5 we had frozen 4 of ours survived. You could donate the embryo to another couple who needs it if you do not want more children. I don't think it would feel like an odd ball. It would be the baby of the family, that is special in and of itself.

I am having some guilt about planning to stop breastfeeding. I had to return to work last wk and I have had a hard time finding the time to pump while I am there. I can tell my supply has gone down. It is a real hassle carrying all of my supplies to work and then having to rush to pump and sometimes Im even interrupted and have to stop. Anyone else have this problem? But I have done it for over 3 months so that makes me feel better. On the up side.. maybe once I stop bf'ing I can loose the last 5 pounds of baby wt that my body has been holding on to with a death grip, lol!

I am attaching our attempt at a cute Easter Pic. Avery was not a happy camper. I guess all pics cant be perfect!

Hi ladies I guess we (Paul and I) belong here with you lovely ladies so I hope you don't mind 1 more member to your group.

We are doing great. Paul is 8 months old now and a little over 20lb. He is very tall for his age at 29inches and is absolutely the love of my life. I literally constantly thank God for this little miracle. He is now a proud owner of 2 teeth :) and has become so quick and efficient in his little walker that sometimes its a challenge catching up to him. He is extremely active and I am saddened to say we STILL eat at least once through the night. I have tried giving him a pacifier or even a little water but it seems if I don't give him food around 3 to 4 am he wakes completely and then does not want to go back to sleep and since we cherish our sleep these days we have resolved to just giving him his 6oz of formula in his sleep. On the positive note we are now saying dada, do-gi (we have 2 dogs) baba (for mama) and even learned to kiss and clap. As of 3 weeks ago I have stopped breastfeeding (it was very emotional for me but we wanted to try for another baby) so we weaned. I told myself that I managed to bf for almost 8 months and that it was already an accomplishment but I was still very weepy. So anyways Paul's nap is over and I better run but first a quick few personals

Ryan your babies are beautiful...you have a beautiful family

Dallastwins I also felt guilty for stopping the breastfeeding so I think no matter when you stop you always feel a little sad and guilty however you have to do what is best for you and pumping can be very stressful however on the other hand if you are able to give your little ones a few oz of BM a day for a while longer I am sure its also helpful. I think the biggest thing I have encountered is that people feel like if they can't fully breastfeed then they should just quit but I would suggest if you are only finding a couple of times a day to pump then just give your LO what you have since a little is better than none. In the end if you choose to stop I am sure it is the right decision for you and you have to do what you have to do.

Mellow how is Marlo? we need a new pic :)

sorry gotta run but will write more later

Thanks ladies :)

Anna-Paul is gorgeous! He seems to be a busy little boy! Maybe he can come teach the twins how to move! Dylan doesn't do much other than sit and Bella just started logrolling and scooting backwards to get what she wants!

Twins had their 9 month visit yesterday. D is 22lbs and 30" tall and Bella is 18lbs and 27" tall. We got referred to a pediatric orthopedic doc for D because is still wont really bear weight on his feet. When he does his hips are uneven and he turns his feet outward. We see him next week and hopefully everything is ok :)

I feel like a photo hog, but here is the twins' 9 month photo from yesterday.

Dallas- i am totally with you. I actually started to wean and changed my mind and have been working my tail off to try to get my supply back. Every 3 or 4 days or so I am ready to quit again, but the guilt is horrendous! I am taking the approach Anna talked about, taking it one day at a time and being happy for whatever I can give her. My goal is 6 months... But my overnight travel at work starts next week. We will see how that goes! Good luck.

Anna/Ryann- great to hear from you and your beautiful babies! Someday I'll have time to upload a photo... :)

Hey ladies-I hope no one minds me doing this, but I'm reaching out for a little help. My husband and I are walking for the March of Dimes in a couple weeks. We just registered and dont have much fundraising time, so I'm pulling out all the stops! If any of you would donate, anything, even a dollar, please go to:
That's my personal page and I would totally appreciate anything (so will all the preemies!)!!
