Hey Christina,
I am in my first trimester, but I just wanted to drop in and say HELLO !!
Already almost 18 weeks !! YIIPPIIE!! Have you found out the sex yet? Have you chosen any names ?

I had my last scan at the fertilitly clinic yesterday and everything looks really good !! The baby kept waving at us !! What an amazing feeling, I didn't want to come out of the room, I would of love to watch the baby all day !!! :D I am now discharged from the clininc and next week I have an apt. with my gyno, and hopefully we'll hear the heart beat !!

Just a question, is the 1st trimester over at 12 weeks or at 13weeks? (sorry)

Anyway, take care,

-Teresa :D

Hi Teresa,

I was beginning to think that no one was talking to me here. :) Don't know where all my 2nd trimester buddies are. Anyway congratulations to you & DH on your pregnancy, you will be joining us on here soon. I am sure the 2nd trimester ends at 13 weeks so you are nearly there, well done. Glad everything went well at your scan & don't be too anxious if you don't hear the heartbeat at first we didn't hear ours until 16 weeks, baby didn't want to play ball, little monkey.

We have decided not to find out the sex of the baby, keeping the element of suprise. We go for the 20 week scan on the 14th September, where they measure & check everything so we hope baby will be well. I have got a definate bump now & people are noticing and it is a wonderful feeling. You will be too soon. We have decided on some names & DH is convinced were having a boy! Nothing definate yet though.

You take care now & if I can ever be of any help don't hesitate to ask, as I am a little bit ahead of you. :D :D

18 weeks in 2 days! :D

Hi all!
Nothing really to say - all well here. Starting to get a bit stressy about the fact that there SOOOOO much to do - choosing a pram (HOW many things do you have to think about with a PRAM for goodness sake?!) is the bit worry at the moment! Not SUCH a bad worry I guess?!

Anyway -getting extremely lardy - quite like it a weird way. Haven't really felt kicking yet - more just some prods! Apparently my placenta is high so therefore stopping me feeling kicks yet!

Hope all is well with you guys - any tips on prams gratefully received. Also have you decided about sleepiong arrangements to start off with - was think moses basket by our bed - does that seem sensible?

When are you guys giving up work - I thought November ish (due in early January).

ANyway big X

Hi Caz

I haven't been posting for the past few weeks but have read most of the last couple of weeks to catch up. I'm at 21 weeks (I have my 'anomaly scan' tomorrow, so also thinking about prams and things...! I found a really good artical in the Pregnancy&Baby magazine (October issue) which does a survey on all different types, it's really helpful. Try and have a look at that before you choose one. I haven't decided yet mysef.

I am reading Ann Enright's book 'Making Babies' - it's brilliant. It's so funny but lots of good sesible adivice too (now that Tracy has left us to it! :( ).

So, I've been thinking about probably having a little cot/moses basket in our bedroom for the first few weeks, to make the feeds easier. I think it makes sense. Have you looked into cots?? I've seen a really good one (in that mag!) which expands to a crib, then a bed, then a sofa! but DH has to check it out still.

I am really showing now - I had my first comment of 'when are you due' from an aquantance yesterday. I was quite taken aback because I thought I was still in the 'she's looking fatter these days' phase! My EDD is the 18th of January. Does anyone know if first babies tend to be earlier or later????? I've heard both.

We're not finding out the sex either. It's going to be a surprise. We'll just have to come up with a selection of names for both!

I've had no kicks/butterflies yet either. I must ask them tomorrow where my placenta is - if it's high too that is! Have you found a hospital to have your delivery? Do they offer to follow a birth plan??? Mine said they would but I've heard that it doesn't always work out the way you plan....
I think I will probably have an epidural if I can, what about you?

I wonder where Gem, Bina, Fiona and the rest are these days! I guess everyone has gone away on holiday.

Oh, before I forget, I've decided to give up work on the 15th of October. I's early I know but I'm already finding it exhausting some days, and I want to have time to prepare things (and read baby books - I need to!)
I hope this is helpful.

Love,
Zeena

Hi all,
Well done everyone for doing so well - sounds like we're all on track; major achievement not to have had any mishaps...!
I've been too busy at work to post (wish it had been holiday! That's not until end of the month for 2 weeks; can't wait!)

Anyway, had 21-week scan late August and it's all 'normal'! All measurements apparently are totally fine AND: it's a girl! So now we can talk about 'her' and what 'our daughter' will get, need, want, etc, which we feel so much happier with than saying 'it'.
Also have been feeling her kick; initially just very faint, but then it got stronger and stronger. At the weekend even DH could feel it and he was just totally amazed (did think it was all very odd though). It's so nice to share this with him and make him part of the whole experience.
Like you Gem, we're also trying to get lots of things done in the house first before she arrives, so I'm getting quotes in for new alcove cupboards being built around the fireplace, new kitchen worktops have been ordered and a new kitchen sink+taps. It's all happening! And that's without actually doing up the nursery! We'll start with that late October I think. Got ideas and some materials, but nothing actually in place yet. The only thing we've actually bought it a cotbed. The pram experience was a bit daunting, so we think we want to go for a Mamas+Papas Venezia pram, but if anyone knows anything about that one, I'd be grateful for any advice.

Re: maternity leave my last day is the 17th December. I'm determined to carry on as long as my legs can still carry me to get maximum time with our little girl. Bearing in mind outstanding holidays etc my maternity leave won't actually kick in until 3rd January, the week she's due. After the initial 26 weeks I'm then entitled to another 26 weeks, so am thinking about taking half of that, which would mean I'd be back at work (likely to be part-time) beginning of October! Good stuff or what?

Sorry, have been rambling on a bit, but then again had quite some catching up to do!

Best wishes to everyone!

Hi there strangers!!
Been really tought o get online recently - finally here!
You all sound on top form which is great :)

Am fine too - growing pretty rapidly over last couple of weeks - a people actually stand up on the bus for me now- WEIRD!!!!!!!!!!!! (only ever women who offer their seat though - funny that?!!)

Starting to get VERY neurotic about everything that needs doing - havent even STRATED nursery or anything. HAlf way through doing up new house- so that slightly taking over my world!

Decided to borrow my bros Mmas and paps Pilko - I was getting SO stressed about all the different prams - we just thought, let just borrow one - and I'm SO relieved!!

Will get moses basket for first few weeks / months and then a cot I guess. Again Mamas and Papas seem to do some pretty nice and not too expensive ones.

Just read Gina Fords book - and it FREAKED me out- shes SO SO strict - help!! Then read Chrstine Hills book - get it its fab and very practical!

Um - no more news really - havent really felt any kicking -the odd "bubble" but nothing I'd describe and a kick and nothing DH can feel. Am 22 .5 weeks - when shall I start worrying?!! :? Hopefully its my placenta in the way which is supposedly quite "high" - whatever that means!

Anyway - big XXs

Hi Christina and girls,

Just catching up on all the posts. Dh and I have been away for 3 weeks and I couldn't get online a bit before that. I can't believe so much has happened.

I am fine, growing very fast. I am very pregnant now although only 19 weeks. I am in maternity clothes and walk like I am 80! Both babies have been lying on my left side which has been causing nerve pains in my left leg. It does look funny though because I look more pregnant on my left than my right! My morning sickness has finished ( i hope) and I have had a pretty goosd 2 weeks without it. I still get very tired though. My scan is on 22nd September. I can't wait. I haven't felt any kicks but may have felt some 'bubbles' but not sure if this was the babies or not. I just want to do the scan to make sure they are both ok. We are going to find out the sex if we can.

Read your posts and it looks like you are doing fine. I guess we are half way through now. The dr said to expect them around 37 weeks. That means 18 weeks to go, how scary. We have thought a lot about what we need to buy but haven't actually bought anything yet. Not much choice when it comes to twin prams. Probably going for the Mama and papas Aria. Would like a 3 wheeler but they are too big and won't fit through the door.

Today we were measure the nursery. It is going to be a squeeze to fit in 2 cots, a changing table and a chair for feeding. How far does the cot have to be from the radiator? Do twins prefer to be next to each other or could they be at opposite ends of the room. Ahh so many questions.

Hope you all continue to do well and I'll be back on the boards more now.

Hi Shellie & Girls,

Hope you are all doing well. Shellie I am really glad to hear from you. I was worried about you. Glad everything is going well. Things are well here too, but we had a few scares. Bled for 2 weeks, had a haematoma which came away, then couldn't find the heartbeat at 16 weeks, but thankfully baby is fine. We have the anomoly scan on Tuesday & I am really nervous. We just want everything to be ok. Definately looking pregnant now and am also in maternity clothes. I've been having a few problems with my back but all to be expected I suppose. We have felt the baby kick, like you more on the left side. DH felt it the other night & loved it.
We have decided not to find out the sex of the baby, but DH thinks its a boy because we have had so many scares, baby keeping us on our toes. :D
Well things are really good here now & DH starts a new job teaching next week after doing joinery for 15 years, college for 3 years, he is starting teaching web design at the college he attends. I am so proud of him, so been a great year for us & the best is yet to come!

Hope all you other ladies are as happy as I am & wish us all the best of luck!

Sorry for going on...waffling

Take Care All

HI there!
Gen - I posted on your bugaboo thread - but actually am now so jealous of your lovely new bugaboo - that I'm not sure I can chat to you anymore!!  They look SO cool!

No news from me - but pleased to hear that you are all doing well
Am fine too - a few little prods but no really obvious kicking yet - really VERY keen to get some now - really want DH to feel it!

Anyone else 23 weeks (nearly!) and only getting very faint prods rather than big kicks??

Speak soon!

Hi Ladies,

Hope that you are all keeping well & little bumps growing. Well we had the anomoly scan yesterday & everything measured fine. I was amazed by the scan the way they can check and measure organs etc. The heartbeat was strong & the little one even did a complete turn around. On the photo it looks like the hand is scratching his ear. I am saying he but we didn't find out the sex of the baby, keeping it a suprise.
I am relieved now so we went and bought some baby clothes to celebrate & it was great. Does that sound weird?

We don't have to go to the hospital anymore now, just continue on with midwife appointments, unless of course needs be.

Good Luck Shellie with your scan next week, hope everything goes well.
Everyone else take care

Will be 20 weeks on Saturday! YIPEE :)
