Thanks for the info Tracey, I'm storing it all away for January.
I had my scan today. Everything is ok and the babes are 20cm each. I can't believe they are that big so soon. They are extremely active and the scan took over an hour for them to get all their measurements because the babes were playing. One is lying across the pelvic area with head on baby no 2's bottom! No 2 has bum above left leg and head under my ribs, so they are in an L-shape. No wonder I am having trouble with my nerve above my left leg.

We were a bit disappointed because they would not tell us the sex of the bubs. They say they have a policy not to say because most people have one scan at 12 weeks and it is sometimes too soon to tell so they made the policy across the board. I asked if any of my babies had 3 legs and they just laughed at me and didn't say.

Oh well at least I know they are both fine and active. I can continue to worry until my next scan now. I might start buying a few things now.

Tracey this may be a stupid question but Gina mentions topping and tailing. What is that?

Hope you are all doing well.

Shellie -great scan - shame about the not knowing the sex - oh well big suprise for you! Gina is not in my good books today - Alice slept through until 6am and then would not have her 7am feed as I gave her 5 mins then which she nearly sucked me dry and now is asleep when she should have been fed and awake until 9 - god!
Top and tailing - it is a bowl of water and take cotton wool and wipe each eye with a ball each then the mouth and face then the hands and under the neck and the bottom - easier than bathing - I do this each morning but they have a short bath each night anyway.
Take care of all of you

Hi all,

Shellie- delighted to hear all went well with your scan, we can go ahead and shop til we drop now..We hve felt kicks now & they are getting stronger by the day. DH felt them last night and loved it. Its mostly at night time when I am relaxed baby starts kicking or funnily enough when I've eaten. Have you felt them kick yet?
We are alot more relaxed about it all since we had the scan so hopefully you will feel the same.
Hope everyone else is doing well.

Take Care :)

Hi Christina,

I notice you are online now too.
I am going to buy a few clothes tomorrow for the first time and I am excited. Also buying the paint for the nursery, hopefully to paint it on the weekend.

I am feeling a bit more relaxed but I haven't felt any definate kicks yet. I thought with twins I'd feel them sooner but obviously not. I know they are thrashing around in there because I saw it with my own eyes! Maybe I just have tough insides. Hopefully I will feel something soon and I'll be able to share it with DH too.

How you sleeping now? I've just been for a mum to be treatments at Clarins in Jenners, it was wonderfully relaxing. Dh bought me a course of 7 treatments for my birthday. I love being pampered.

My weekend starts now :)

Tracey, I've so much to learn. topping and tailing in the morning sounds good as Dh will be at work and I imagine bathing two would be a huge task on your own. Is it harder when the Alica and emily aren't in the same routine or is it better because you spend some special time with the other?

I bath both together anyway - they don't have long and relaxes them a bit more and kills time for them until feed time - not for me though!

As for routine together -depends - sometimes better as get it out the way quicker but only works if you can feed them together so when I was breastfeeding both - now it can be a nightmare as one screams for food whilst the other feeds so I try and prop Emily up on a pillow and breast feed alice - does not always work. But then you get more individual time with each one then. With twins it all swings in roundabouts and you just muddle through. Don't worry about the kicking thing - I felt them very early as had been pg with Oliver soon before so different for me. Also twins are not earlier to feel kicks you just feel more of them when you do!
Love to all of you

Hi Girls,

Its just so wonderful to read your posts it only seems like yesterday when I was pregnant with Alex and he is now 7 months old and creeping up to 8 months and its just so scary where the time goes.

I used to top and tail Alex in the morning and then bath him on the evening but had so much to do on the night like sterilising bottles, cooking tea I just found it a bit much. I love it now because Alex has a bath in the morning and then he is nice and fresh all day and it works better with me. When I go back to work in December I won't have the time to bath him in the morning so his routine will change, but everyone has to do what they fit best with.

Tracey - I do try to read your posts to see how you are doing, and I am getting to spend more time on here too give big hugs to the twins for me, and Alex sends them a tiny kiss too. How's Nicole doing we don't here much from her these days, and ain't seen any posts from Dagny in a while.

Hope everyone else is ok, just going to feed Alex now.

Love
Shell & Alex.

Hello,
I really hope you guys don't mind me posting here....
I'll give you a little background.. I am 29 and married since June 98, been TCC for about 20 months until we discovered that DH has a low sperm count ! We did our 1st cycle of IVM/ICSI (natural cycle) transfered 4 embys and pregnant ! Got discharged from the fertility clinic at 11weeks !! Gyno. at 12 weeks to hear HB and nothing.. starting hysterically crying thought it was imposible since I had scan one week prior and everything was perfect... Dr. sent me to hospital to have another scan... and there was our beautiful baby waving at me and Jaime !! The tech. said that the dr. couldn't hear the hb because the baby was lying low and the placenta was way over it.. Is this normal ?? She said yes....AMAZING!!!! PPHHEWWWW !!!!!!!! We return on Oct 6 (at 16weeks)to dr. and we should definately hear the HB ! Besides all of this everythig seems to going pretty smooth.. No morning sickness what-so-ever! Extremely huge breast, and was extremely tired ! No I can actually stay up until 10:00.... :D

Now enough about me, how are you all doing ?
My turn to go and read up on all of you !!

Keep in touch !!

Hi All,

Teresa don't mind you posting on here. Glad to hear everything is going ok. We had the same as you didn't hear the babys heartbeat until 16 weeks. They tried at 12 weeks and sent us for a scan and like you all was well. These little monkeys like to keep their mummies & daddies on their toes. :)

We have had our 20 week scan now and all is well, feeling really good. The only problem I am having is no sleep. I have tried everything under the sun, lavender oil, pillow under my bump, all relaxing things and to no avail apart from one night. Going to see the midwife next thursday so I hope she will be able to give me a few more ideas to try. I think the problem really is my back. I don't have a good back at the best of times, so this extra weight can't be helping. It will all be worth it in the end. :)

I hope all you other ladies are feeling good

Take Care

21 weeks tomorrow!

Feel free to post anytime Teresa. I'm glad everything is ok with the bub. It can be extremely frightening at times. Is it just IVFers that worry so much or do naturally conceived mums worry too??

I went shopping today! :o I bought two little 4 piece disney suits and jackets in lemon for Tiny babies (Jackets for 1 months to last a bit longer). I am assuming they will both be tiny when they arrive. I bought 6 new baby white sleep suits for new borns, a couple of suits for 1 month olds and 2 sleeveless sleepsuits for tiny babies, all 100% cotton. I was so proud of myself and I could of shopped all day except my back started hurting and I had to keep sitting down. Most from George ASDA which were really cheaply priced and the suits from Marks and Spencer, not so cheap.

I also bought the paint for the nursery and am hoping to get that done this weekend. After seeing them at the 20 week scan has put me in the mood to start getting ready. Tracey what size are Emily and Alice wearing, how much do they weigh now. Any hints on what to buy. I wanted to buy some nightdresses rather than sleepsuits for the night,, that way you don't have to worry about poppers to change them. Couldn't find them anywhere.

Christina I am having trouble sleeping too. I usually start on my left side with a pillow between the legs, one under the bump and 2 pillows and a tri pillow uder my upper body and head. If I just have the 1 I get heartburn! I wake up because my side aches, I heave myself on the other side, arrange the pillows and get another hour on that side before swapping again. I've decided that just must be the way it is going to be! If you get any tips do share them. I find having a bath before beds helps and Dh smothers my belly in clarins oil and gives a bit of a massage before bed too, most relaxing. I hope that doesn't stop when I have the babies!!

I do go on, don't I. Hope you all have a good weekend.

Hi Christina,
I am so glad to hear that everything went just fine at your 20 week scan! Do you know the sex? Are you finding out? (sorry not sure if you already mentioned that)..

OMG, you went through the same thing as me at 12 weeks !! I hear some people say that they hear the hb at 10 weeks HOW ????? I will bring a hand tape recorder to record the hb !! I've heard a few people that have done this..
I go for my 19-20 week scan on Nov 1, and hopefully we'll find out the sex !!

Do you find that you worry less since being half way through your pregnancy? I find that I am always worrying.. I only don't worry when I see my baby on the screen !!

Anyway, my day is almost over, and I can't wait to get out of this office !!

I hope to talk to you all soon !

Hi all,
So pleased everyone is doing well!
Well, I find a worry ever so slightly less as time goes on - or maybe I just worry about different things, come to think of it...in the beginning it was all about 'not feeling pg' or fear of bleeding, etc and now it's worrying about when the baby (she!) is actually here -so thanks ever so much for the Gina Ford recommendation, wil read it over our holidays.
The other thing is getting her room ready - haven't really done anything about that yet, will tackle it when back from hols mid-October.
Which just leaves me to say GOOD BYE for now; hope you're all carrying on as well as you have been!
Gem - we're off to France, starting in Bordeaux, then Arcachon (at Atlantic coast), then the Dordogne for a week! AND we're going by train, hiring a car when down there, as the main point isd RELAXING, not overdoing it. French cuisine, here we come!
Love to you all - back 11th Oct,

HI all!
Pleased to hear that youa re all well - Teresa dont worry about the heart beat - I too have placenta up front and I think it does make finding the heart beat harder ALSO - you might find you don't feel real proper kicking for a bit - my doctor said not to worry at all about this
To be honest only jest feeling real kicks and I'm 24 weeks!

Got very boring cold which I cannot seem to shake off -very unlike me - means I havent exercised (or done much at all actually! ) for days and am starting to feel a bit sorry for myself. O well! :?

nothing else to report -I too having trouble sleeping at night was awake from 3 to 5 this morning - VERY boring. Just find the minute I wake up I cant get comfy again and I just start worrying about how much we have to do !

Anyway - love to all

HEllo all - just a quick one before the top and tailing and two feeds and god knows what else but was a fabby evening and night last night - Alice has been a pain the last few and won't go down at 7pm or infact does not do her lunchtime sleep well -s he is bloody minded like me. Last night both slept for evening and then night - yippeee! But jabs tomorrow!

Shell - we all send our love and glad to see you are both well.
Theresa - lovely to see you here - I have missed our chats!

The rest of you are doing so well - all the lack of sleep and pains etc are normal I am afraid and prepare you for the lack of sleep after  Sorry to be no more help than that. A milky drink before bed can help - no caffeine after lunchtime - massage - baths and loads of gaviscon help but your complete night's sleep has gone!
shelly - I bought all in one sleep suits as better and don't ride up - poppers become a fact of life I am afraid and with twins must do the flaming things all the time. I bougth tiny baby but did not last Emily inparticular that long - they are in 0-3 months now and are 8 wks on thursdsay but jabs tomorrow so will let you know weights - last time 2 wks ago they were 8.8lb and 8.5 and a half so now reckon towards 10lb.Mothercare are a bit bigger as are M&S than George and some others - newborn is better for twins if they are towards term and then 0-3 - there are times when they are too long so they always get two feet jammed in to one leg - very funny until they grow again! Look on ebay for stuff - they grow out of it so quickly.
Caz, Bina and Gems and Christina - so glad you are all well - holiday Bina - honeslty half your luck.
Take care all - off for washes now
Love

Hello to all,

Just had my community midwife around. It wasn't a scheduled visit but I rang them this morning and they came to see me. I am having trouble again with my left leg, the nerve keeps going on me. Last night I didn't sleep a wink because my back ached (like normal) but my hips were really sore and achy. I only slept in 10 minute slots before the ache was so bad I had to turn over. The midwife bought over a couple of different support belts for me to try. Apparently the hormones play havoc with the pubic bones which causes this problem. Has anyone else had this??

I feel really guilty because I didn't go to work today. Work is quite stressful at the moment and I feel like I am leaving the guys in the lurch, on the other hand I want to look after my babies. :? Tracey, or any twin mums, at what stage did you give up work? The midwife said definately not passed 28 weeks but she didn't even think I would make it to then. I am only 21 weeks now. She said I will need signing off before my actual maternity leave kicks in.

Glad everyone else is doing ok. A holiday in france sounds lovely. I hope I have time to log on after the birth like Shell and Tracey. You guys are super mums! The midwife is signing me up for antenatal classes as well as the twins classes. Any amount of preparation will help me get through this.... I hope
