Well Ladies, this week has had so many highs and lows. Monday was EC day. All went well as far as that goes. But within an hour after I was in so much pain I could not walk. And normally I try not to cry, and just keep things to myself, but this was unbearable. Some of the worst pain I have ever felt in my life!
Tuesday dawned a bit better, the pain had subsided to a managable level.
Wednesday, a little more progress on the pain, and a 3 hour drive to Athens to get my babies! We collected 12 eggs, 9 were successfully fertilized with ICSI.
A side note: I have PCOS and I was on 75 units of gonal f for 10 days, produced over 40 follicles and did EC on day 12!
Needless to say, I responded too well to the meds. And my hormone levels did not come down, and the bloating and swelling was out of control.
So, we did not transfer. What a difficult day. We now have 9 little embryopsicles! And we will try again next month.
The problem with this is taking another month off work. I am in Greece and I live and work in the states. 2 months is a long time!! My boss was pretty cool, but I could tell he was ticked. Oh well, my family is most important to me right now.
I hope you all have more success than I did.
Good Luck,
Elisa Sophia
